some good news- well one less worry. I panicked over some rare meat i ate at Christmas, worked myself into a state about getting toxoplasmosis (and if you search recent toxo threads on MN you'll see what i had to say re NHS muddled guidelines on rare meat and cured meats.) Anyway phoned surgery for results just now and i tested negative to current infection and no further action needed. Hurray! I'm presuming i'm not immune but as i'm going to be ultra careful about food following what i went through i don't think it will be an issue anyway. (and i don't have a cat so no need to worry about that)

Lovemarmite · 24/01/2012 10:52

Great news blackcatsdancing! :)

hamncheese · 24/01/2012 11:36

Thanks all! Have the booking on Thursday so will be asking about vit D then and prescriptions... if not then I'll be down to Boots asap. I called over and over from week 9 on to see when my appointment would be, kept getting told i'd get it a week before the appointment. Was assured in week 11 that I would get it that week, so it would be in my 12th week. I did get it but the appointment was for 2 weeks later so I'm going to be 13+1 when I go sigh and that didn't even include the does this include a scan or not saga I'm not going to bore you all with. If things aren't all sorted on Thursday I'm going to have a major anger session to the poor midwife. Oh well, stay positive I guess!

Glad to hear that blackcats. I have two black cats(!) and two tabby cats who have had upset stomachs the past few days... but they are indoor kits so should be safe against toxo. Still, no reason hubby can't be cleaning that up for me :)

Lovemarmite · 24/01/2012 12:28

Great to hear it's getting sorted hamncheese and hopefully your mw will get all underway asap now.

I was very surprised as my mw called this morning and said she has been very concerned about my scans - maybe the hospital had let her know that a mistake was made. The hospital scan booking lady was very adamant that my mw should have been sorting it out and not me, I think the hospital lady recognised my anxiety in my voice and must have called my mw?! Glad all is fine here now.

We have a black and white pussycat here but lots of cats are using our garden as their toilet, nice! I am buying new thick garden gloves or just some washing up gloves for when I go out there!

pintofmilk · 24/01/2012 13:17

Hi Ladies,
I have been reading your posts for the last few weeks and wondered if I can join in the 'Due in August group'?
I am 10 weeks tomorrow, due 22nd August. Had some light bleeding over the weekend and still getting some today, no clots, so hopefully all ok. Saw the GP yesterday and have been booked in for early scan tomorrow. Trying to remain calm, but it has been the longest 48 hours waiting for my scan tomorrow :(
I am 35 and this is my 3rd.

PoppyS34 · 24/01/2012 13:23

congrats pintofmilk, and you have my full sympathy with regards to waiting because it feels like the last six weeks have just taken forever. I also had slightly bleeding early on, but all was ok, so stay positive and calm. (easier said than done I know). Wishing you all the best for your scan tomorrow.

hamandcheese glad they are sorting things now and also glad for you too lovemarmite :)

Lovemarmite · 24/01/2012 14:01

Congratulations too pintofmilk and great to hear you're joining us!

dragonleo · 24/01/2012 15:05

yay to all the scans! I completely agree abuot lack of contact- I didn't see anyone until I was 12 weeks and that was my scan. Still havent seen a medical professional. First midwife appointment tomorrow (12+6).

Also- when will this tiredness go away???! I think it's getting worse :(

MrsMigginslovespies · 24/01/2012 15:11

Hello PintofMilk, welcome! You're a day behind me, hurrah. Just had a funny turn in the supermarket. Was very dizzy, sick feeling, cold etc. A man actually asked me if I was ok. SO embarassing puffing and panting my way round. Back home now, but was a struggle. About to go (reluctantly) on a cold wet dog walk, but think may do me good to get some fresh air. Bleuch, want it all to pass.

Found out today that the baby is the size of a strawberry! So cute! And apparently can do rolls (ie somersaults, not cheese ones).

Feeling much more grumpy than usual too. Not much fun for DH who is convinced it's him...might have to buy more creme eggs!

Glad everyone's scans are going ok. ham don't worry (easy to say I know) about your vits either. You'll be fine, I'm convinced, but not helpful of your lot not to follow up with you earlier.

Off for toast and marmite. x

WelshLadyCDF · 24/01/2012 15:57

I had my scan today, it was AMAZING, I feel overwhelmed.

I had lots of blood tests and go back in a few weeks for the DS screening, photos were £3 each, I didn't mind paying that at all.
I enjoyed it all and popped to town to get some maternity work trousers to stop bursting out of my old ones.
The MW explained my little bump is actually because the uterus is popping everything else up and out.
I opted for midwife led care which happens in my gp surgery instead of clinical which means popping back and for to the hospital.
I feel blessed, I am crossing fingers for all others with scans soon.
Xxx

halfdoneharris · 24/01/2012 16:48

Had my 12 week scan and all good - was actually really impressed with the quality of the images as you can see the lips, nose and eye outline really clearly. I think the hospital that I went to has quite modern equipment as they said to empty the bladder entirely as didn't need the water for a clear picture. I guess every place is slightly different.

It was also quite amusing trying to the get the nuchal measurement as baby kept wiggling about so I had to lean forward, backward, rotate upside down and wiggle my hips. Got it in the end though. The whole thing was lovely and brought a tear to my eye, when I wasn't giggling at the monitor at the baby gymnastics.

Due date remained the same - so 5th August here we come!

Good luck for all up coming scans.

blackcatsdancing · 24/01/2012 17:20

glad to hear the scans were good!

i had an awful afternoon. started bleeding around lunchtime and ended up self referring to EPU as i didnt want to wait and see GP first , plus maternity unit at hospital said to try EPU or A & E. Luckily just made it in before 3 other women so only had 1 in front of me. Earliest they can scan me is Thursday when i'm due my NT scan anyway, doctor apologised profusely but said they just don't have the resources to keep up with demand. She did however examine me. She said the bleeding looked like it was stopping, she said it was brown blood (i couldnt tell, i was honest with her and said it wasn't bright red but not exactly brown either which it didnt seem to be to me ). She said cervix was closed. Then said it could be bleeding after sex (2 days ago) or placenta implanting some more (common reasons) but without a scan couldnt give me more hope. Told to come back if it gets worse.
I know bleeding is quite common, i know a woman who bled throughout her pregnancy, no cause was ever found and she had a healthy full term baby. But it doesn't stop the worrying!
Hope everyone else's day went better.

PoppyS34 · 24/01/2012 17:20

Getting really emotional reading about all the scans, it's lovely to hear all the experiences.

littlelamb1980 · 24/01/2012 17:26

Congratulations on your scans Welshlady and Halfdoneharris! I also had my 12 week scan today and everything was great! I am so relieved I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. My scan wasn't as clear as yours Halfdone but you can tell it's a baby and you see the profile quite well. I was told to have a full bladder for my scan so maybe the equipment isn't as modern at my hospital (St Thomas' London). The sonographer was pushing down so hard on my stomach it was quite uncomfortable. I may have to take some of the blame for her having to do that though as my results mentioned a restricted view of baby due to my bowel gas Blush!! My due date has come forward a couple of days to 6/8/12.
Hope everybody else's scans this week go well.
X

littlelamb1980 · 24/01/2012 17:29

Oh Blackcats just saw your post there, hope the bleeding stops and your scan goes well on Thursday. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

Lovemarmite · 24/01/2012 17:41

Great to hear scans went well!

Sorry to hear about your afternoon blackcatsdancing, hope it clears and you feel better soon x

Gnomi · 24/01/2012 17:41

Thinking of you Blackcats I really hope the bleeding stops soon. Sounds like you have done exactly the right thing.

Congratulations to those of you having scans today - good to have lots of good news. Mine is tomorrow, and I'm hoping they'll confirm my due date. We had a scan at 9 weeks so I'm fairly confident but you still worry, dont you.

Thanks for sharing that Welshlady, is it your first? I have no pregnancy bump, just look like I ate all the pies!

PoppyS34 · 24/01/2012 17:51

Oh, just read your post blackcats :( hope it eases up, any bleeding us worrying, but fingers crossed everything will be ok on thurs.

miaboo · 24/01/2012 18:21

Had my scan and everything was good :)
I'm excatly 10 weeks today!
can you add my full details to the list now please, I'm 29 dc3, due on 21st August
Has made it all the more real now and little pip is 3cm :)
blackcats I bleed with my other 2 and all was fine, I had to wait a week before we knew what was happening and the waiting was awful, just rest and we will all keep our fingers crossed for you xx

JParkson · 24/01/2012 19:14

Hi all, just skimmed through the posts - note to self, post more often!

congratulations to those with good scans; hope everything is ok blackcats

Weekends are so nutty for me though, so Mondays tend to be my veg-out days lol

glimpers I'm on the Asda side too! Maybe we should meet at Starbucks or something?

eightieshopaholic · 24/01/2012 19:25

Hope everything's ok blackcats x

Seems we all stress heads!! I've not really had any symptoms boobs hurt now don't have a little pot!! but feel more down to my only craving which is chocolate!! tired but that's normal for me I'm 11 weeks 3 days next scan not until 20 weeks even my scan at 9 weeks has not made me stress less!! really considering a private scan not sure can wait another 9 week :-(

hamncheese · 24/01/2012 19:26

Blackcats hope you are okay and glad you went in can't be too safe, even if you couldn't get the scan for another 2 days.

Great news on all the scans again, everyone progressing :)

Thanks all for support re: slow appointments. Only 2 days to go now. Today the awful awful nausea came back along with peeing every half hour (no joke) and feeling generally like death warmed up. i think my brain had washed away the MS memories as the last 2 weeks have been so much better, and I was like what the hell is this? Then finally dawned on me. Explains why I was bawling randomly in the middle of the night about things last night if the hormones have surged again. Sympathy for those still going through the throes of sickness :(

12+6 (tomorrow i'm 1/3 through Shock)

Angel786 · 24/01/2012 19:37

Congratulations on all the good scan results ladies Grin

black cats sounds like there are lots of positive reasons so fingers xd all goes well thurs. I know it won't stop you worrying but just try and distract yourself?

I've not taken pg vitamins this time but last time was prescribed iron supplements and vit d with calcium.

Asos has a sale on maternity wear Wink but have stuck to just loose fitting regular clothes and bump bands myself.

sc0ttishlass · 24/01/2012 19:42

hi all - lovely to hear about all the scans..

fingers crossed for you blackcats....

I have a question - I had a private scan on Sunday (I was 10 weeks on monday) - saw everything very clearly - was great. All well. My actual scan and midwife appt. is not until the 15th February - which is miles away. My question is - did you all wait until 12 weeks or 14 weeks to tell people? I am just over 10 weeks and desperate to tell - but understand most people dont and why.. what are your thoughts??

MrsMigginslovespies · 24/01/2012 20:13

Blackcats thinking of you and hope thigs are easing a bit tonight. Really scary so sending hugs.

Had more sickness and exhaustion tonight. Had a rare nap, and think I need to rest more in the afternoon. Managed (another) jacket potato tonight for supper with some juice and feel better now. Hey ho.

Well done all you scanners today, what a relief. Mine will be on 15th Feb when I'll be 13 weeks but because I've already had 3 because of clots, twins, etc, now feel almost more nervous than ever that things stay healthy iyswim!

I'm not going to tell people until my scan on 15th ScottishLass if that helps, though am desperate to start!

Off to snuggle on sofa with puppy.
