SpringChicken · 01/12/2003 16:12

Afternoon All,

Just got back from a meeting in London - bloody knackered - feet are killing - stomach is aching from lugging a huge laptop round and head is pounding - everything you wish for on a Monday!

Good news about your scan quacks - i've got mine Thursday - i'm so excited and nervous at the same time - petrified they are going to tell me something wrong

Sickness seems to have more or less gone now - only feel sicky when i haven't eaten for a while!

quackers · 01/12/2003 16:51

Hi Jems, gosh you got over that quick enough! Mind you you are 9 weeks now aren't you!
Yes, I'm absolutely dreading the scan! Here's hoping for good news!!

SpringChicken · 01/12/2003 17:04

9 weeks tomorrow quacks - seems to be flying passed already - seems like i have known i am pregnant for ages but seems like i was 5 weeks only yesterday!

Especially after reading Twinkie's thread earlier - has made me feel 100 times worse - absolutely nothing i or anyone else can do about tough so am just going to have to get on with it!
It's just so horrible having 2 completely different feelings - one minute i am so excited about seeing our baby i just want to burst but the next thought is filled with dread and worry

Not sure if i've completely got over the morning sickness - maybe it's just being kind have leaving off for a few days!

How are you feeling then quacks?

niknik · 02/12/2003 09:34

Hi everyone, I'm afraid I have to leave this thread. I started spotting last monday after having terrible back pains. My GP sent me for a scan and there was no heartbeat and although I was 8.4 weeks it looked no bigger than 6. I am still bleeding a little but the sac and foetus have still to be expelled (which I am dreading as last time it was agony. I have a scan next week to see if everything has gone if not ? I will need a D and C.

DH and I are really devestated that this has happened again. But are trying to keep positive, hopefully I will soon be back on one of these threads

Sorry to post this news on this happy thread. Wishing you all safe pregnancies

quackers · 02/12/2003 09:49

NikNik, I am so very very sorry. I have tears in my eyes because I know how much this meant to you. I have no words of wisdom, despite having losses too, I just cannot put words on how sorry I am.
How is your DH? Are you alone or do you have someone there for you? I would hate to think of you sitting upset and maybe DH is at work. I'm glad that they are going to give you a D and C, if you have not passed everything in a week, as the waiting is just awful. I am here to chat if you feel the need to talk about it. Also, the thread in m/c/bereavment that bunny started from her 2 losses is very warm and we speak every day, pretty much. Melliek, Hana, myself and Bunny mostly. Do come over and if you want to share what has happened, please do come and talk to us. Lots of love to you and your DH, I'm thinking of you - I really am. xxxxxxx

SpringChicken · 02/12/2003 09:58

Oh Niknik - I am so so so sorry.
I feel just awful - going on yesterday about how excited i am - feel dreadful now!

Glad you and your DP are being positive but can only imagine how hard it must be - fingers crossed for you that things now move swiftly and you and Dp can get over this ordeal.

Not that i have been through it before but if you want to talk about it feel free to contact me.

Best of luck Niknik and lots of love - Jem x

lazyeye · 02/12/2003 10:02

Can't imagine how low you feel NikNik. I had a very similar story in the Summer - should have been 8 weeks, nothing really on the scan when they looked. All my thoughts with you. You will get there. Lots and lots of love.

SpringChicken · 02/12/2003 10:18

I don't really know what i am looking for to be honest but following Nikniks post today and Twinkie's post yesterday i am absolutely petrified about having my scan on Thursday.

I know no-one can give me these answers but what if nothing shows up on the scan? What if there is no heartbeat? What if there is a problem?

I know it should be a happy time, getting to see your baby for the first time but following the last few days i feel awful - just cannot stop thinking about if something is wrong, if my baby has died and i don't even know about - i keep having nightmare's about it!

littlerach · 02/12/2003 10:27

Sorry to hear your news, niknik.
I went to drs today to register with the midwife, and should be having a dating scan soon. When I had dd I saw the mw at 12 weeks, now it will be at 10 weeks. Am dreading the blood tests, as they always find it so hard to get blood out of me!!! Last time I had such awful bruising, and in the end they took from my hands. I am such a wuss anyway!! Also have a stinking cold and am having to take the children at work swimming today - yuck!! Oh well!! Good luck with your scan, Jem, it is always a worry, I'm afraid. At least your sickness has gone. xxx

quackers · 02/12/2003 13:14

Jems, please don't worry, the majority of pgcies are normal and healthy. You have the benefit of peoples experiences of loss and they are a minority. Enjoy your pgcy and look forward to your scan. You have nosymptoms to suggest otherwise have you, so hang in there chuck!
I'm ok thanks, nausea every day, so that's good, every day that passes is one closer! Have an awful cold too Littlerach and have have to entertain DD with cold and sickness. Ah well, videaos and colouring!

SpringChicken · 02/12/2003 14:21

Thanks Quacks - i know with all the things people have been through on here lately i should count myself lucky but i just can't help worrying.

I don't have any symptoms - i have stopped feeling so sick and have stopped needing the toilet so much - maybe this is what is worrying me, the fact that symptoms are dissapearing!

hermykne · 02/12/2003 19:22

nik nik
i am so sad for you and your husband.
wishing lots of luck in the future

quackers · 02/12/2003 20:06

jems, they do disspaear from 9 weeks as progesterone is lessened as the placenta takes over. Also HCG peaks at 7/8 wekks so you do feel less. I did in my first pgcy, most people do start to feel human again!

quackers · 03/12/2003 09:06

Morning, I have been sick 4 times this morning. Urgh. However bug going round at work too, but lasts a day. I've felt sick for days now. Here's hoping. It's rotten at the time though isn't it!

How are you all today??

SpringChicken · 03/12/2003 09:59

Oh Quacks - how awful - i was sick last night but think that was throw horrible heartburn rather than anything else.
I hate being sick but thankfully it was only the once - Hope it passes soon for you.

I have never suffered from heartburn before but i got it yesterday and eknew what it was straight away - how painful? ? ? ? Went straight to the shops to get me some Rennies.

Feeling a bit better today, had a horrible dream last night that i started bleeding, it was horrible Sure i will feel much better once we have had the scan and know everything is OK for the time being.
Not sure we will see much though as i am only 9.2 tomorrow - surely it would make a big difference between now and 12 weeks?

M2T · 03/12/2003 10:07

Quacks - It is horrible isn't it.... but its a very good sign of a healthy pregnancy!

Jems - Scrap the rennies!! They don't work fast enough and they are expensive! Get a prescription from your Docs for Maalox. Its liquid form and you can just swig it as required.
When I had my first scan I was 11wk and I can assure you you will see lots!! Ds was wriggling around and moving his arms and legs. I'll send you the photo tonight.

quackers · 03/12/2003 10:24

Hiya, thinking of going home - I know I'm a lightweight! I'm gald I have it though in a way!

Jems, oh yes you'll see loads! I had a bleed at 8 weeks with DD and thought I'd lost her, when I got scanned there was a beatiful little minute bubba and heartbeat! Then at 11 weeks, wow it was amazing the diff!

Look at these 3 and 4D pics! Look at frist trimester!!
here

SpringChicken · 03/12/2003 10:45

Wow they are amazing

I am getting exciting - the little tang of excitement is overtaking the worry i think now!

I'm hoping that due to the heart problems on DP's side they will scan me more than usual - want to see lots of my little "twiglet" - probably just wishful thinking though!

Would love to see a pic M2T

PS Don't blame you for going home Quacks - i would if i could!

Freddiecat · 03/12/2003 10:50

When is your scan? Mine is next Tuesday and I'm not getting excited until I've had it! It is amazing though.

SC - waht is your DH's heart condition? I have a coarctation and I had extra scans at 20 and 24 weeks on the babies heart at a specialist fetal scan unit which was amazing. DS has something called an atrial septal disorder which is minor and might need a small procedure to correct but doesn't affect him. Totally unconnected to my condition but was picked up during the heart scans anyway so was not a huge shock when they confirmed it after he was born.

quackers · 03/12/2003 11:01

Freddiecat, mine is Tuesday too. Not looking forward to it at all, unless all is ok of course!!!

SpringChicken · 03/12/2003 11:12

Freddie - My Scan is tomorrow at 2. Up until the last week or so i have been over the moon about having the scan but all of a sudden reality seems to have hit home aboutt he potential problems - i just keep having this recurring dream that we go to the scan and there is no heartbeat!

Dp doesn't have a heart condition but there are lots of different conditions on his side of the family - from heart murmurs, hole in the heart, heart disease, under developed heart, missing chambers - basically anything that can go wrong with the heart has done with someone in DP's family - although nothing is wrong with MIL or late FIL regarding heart problems and there are no problems with my our neice & nephews on DP's side.

I have an appt with the consultant tomorrow after the scan to talk about all potential problems - i also have a deficiency against the cold so there are numerous problems regarding Anaesthetic & Epidurals.
I know these aren't the worst problems in the world but nothing is ever straight forward is it?

quackers · 03/12/2003 11:19

Good luck with your scan tommorw and your appointment Jems, I'll be thinking of you! Everything crossed. There's 50% of you in there too!!!!
Lots of love Qxx

SpringChicken · 03/12/2003 11:33

Thanks Quacks - that made me smile - i need to start thinking about the positive's until i have a valid reason to worry about problems.

Thanks

Freddiecat · 03/12/2003 13:01

SC you will be fine. I was told ages ago that pregnancy and childbirth was the hardest thing I could do to my body with my condition. However I only found out last time when I was 10 weeks (which is what I am now this time!). By the time I saw the consultant he said the hardest bit was over. He and my cardiac consultant spent 3 months discussing what sort of birth I should have (section or vaginal).

Eventually I was allowed a vaginal birth with the only caveat that I should not be allowed to push too long, BUT should avoid anaesthetic if poss. The birth was absolutely fine and my 2nd happiest moment was when a doctor poked his head round the door and said "you are having a textbook labour so we see no need to have doctors present or to intervene in anyway".
