Jemma - have you tried SeaBands? They are accupressure bands you wear on your wrists and apply specific pressure to a specific point. Designed to help with travel sickness but work really well with morning sickness as it is apparently quite similar to travel sickness (in that you don't actually have anything nasty in your tummy to bring up).

I had no sickness at all with DS but have felt pretty nauseaous the last 3 weeks. Got some SeaBands from behind the pharmacy counter in Tesco (you have to ask for them) for about £7 I think. They do really work - although fitting them between the tendons can sometimes be awkward and sometimes they get uncomfortable. The other problem is that 2 people at work have guessed as they've noticed the bands! However people who know about the bands also tend to be sensible enough to keep quiet until you want to say something anyway.

Good luck - it's horrible this nausea isn't it. I've had a cold for 2 weeks now as well and it's gone to my sinuses. Normally I would take a decongestant but I can't and it's really annoying me.

Jemma7 · 24/11/2003 13:53

Thanks guys, that's really helpful!

Unfortunately DP leaves for work about an hour before i get up for work so looks like i'll have to make myself a hot drink and dry toast (yum)

I don't usually eat breakfast but obviously i am trying to be good an eat breakfast but it makes me feels sick eating that early in the morning.

So far today have had:

2 slices of toast with Flora
1 Satsuma
1 Banana
1 Red apple
1 Roast chicken sandwich
1 packet of french fries
1 chocolate petits filous

I didn't actualyl want half of that stuff but was just trying anything to make me stop feeling so sick!

Will make sure i take the biscuit barrell to bed with me tonight - have gone right off fizzy drink as everything tastes overly fizzy and gives me a tummy ache!

God, i sound like a right moany cow - if it's the sign of a healthy pregnancy then of course i don't mind but if it's just mother nature i wish she would bugger off!

i was sick up until 20weeks - until someone told me to try peardrops - i poped one in as soon as i got up or felt sick and the sickness faded away

littlerach · 24/11/2003 14:56

littlerach · 24/11/2003 16:27

Thanks for all your congratulations. I think I am due 28th July, But DD was 5 wks early, so you never know. Is it worth me calling the dr yet to make appt to see mw?

Jemma7 · 24/11/2003 16:39

Yes LR - I went to see my doc when i had just found out and i was 5 weeks 3 days!

Have seen my midwife twice already - best to let them know straight away!

Quacks, when is you appointment booked for? Can't be long now can it?

OP posts:
quackers · 24/11/2003 20:11

I won't get it Jems until about 5 days before! It will be about 2 weeks yet. Cna't think about it much, that's why I can't post alot just yet. Love to you though. It's gone fast from 5-7 weeks for you from my perspective!!

Jemma7 · 25/11/2003 10:10

Well i hope it comes round nice and quick so you can start really enjoying it!

8 weeks today - seems to have flown past - only 7 months left - nearly a 3rd of the way through!

Got a stash of ginger biscuits, boiled sweets, satsumas and a box of chopped carrot, cucumber & Peppers to nible on!
Little and often definitely works

How is everyone else feeling - getting lost already as to when everyone has scan's is due etc!

OP posts:
M2T · 25/11/2003 10:17

Jemma - 8 wks already!? Wow, thats flown in.

I remember the first time a felt a bump, I was 14 wks and when I ran my hand over my stomach as I lay down I could feel the lump! It was marvellous. Nobody else could notice it until about 24 wks, but I knew it was there.

Helsbels · 25/11/2003 10:18

In my health area the midwife will not see you until after 10 weeks unless there are really exceptional circumstances - has anyone else had this?

Jemma7 · 25/11/2003 12:13

To be honest Helsbels - i thought that is what it would be like in most areas but my midwife proved my wrong - i this usually your first scan is anywhere between 8 & 12 weeks.

I am putting weight on already M2T - not noticable to other people but i know in myself - i was talking to a friedn last night who starting showing at 12 weeks - would love that but i would end up the size of a house

Can't wait til everyone knows when they look at me that i am pregnant as aposed to just chunky!

Hows is everyone this morning?

I seem to be eating sooooooooo much - it's the only time i don't feel sick, when i'm actually eating something!

Anyway, am looking to book a holiday March next year - just for a week to get away and have a break.

Question 1) Will i be OK to fly - will be 5 nearly 6 months.

Question 2) Am i cheeky asking for a week of when i am going to be taking full maternity leave a few months after?

Jem

OP posts:
quackers · 26/11/2003 15:18

jems, Hi, you'll be fine to fly. It's usually from 30 weeks, you need doctors note, although every airline is different, so I would check their own rules before booking.

If you have the leave then you're entitled to iT!! yOU HAVE RIGHTS!

SpringChicken · 28/11/2003 15:52

Well holiday all booked

Just going for a week to Lanzarote for a rest before bambino arrives - really looking forward to it! Hope i don't have stretch marks all over my tummy - that will look most attractive on the beach!

How is everyone - been a bit quiet here lately - looks like M2T could be joining us soon - fingers crossed!

I keep getting spasm/cramp pains in my tummy - not like period pains but actual cramp - when i stretch or get up to quickly or turn over in bed to quickly its like a muscle gets trapped or something. Very painful - am goign to ask midwife about it when i see her next.

BTW - It's Jem - changed my name yesterday as was getting bored with it

quackers · 28/11/2003 16:00

Hiya, I'm just quiet cos I don't want to get hopes up yet.
Your hol sounds great! Bet you;re looking forward to it!! I've got loads of stretch marks!! They go colourless though after birth, don't worry!
BTW, I get those cramps, when I turn over in bed or sneeze. Last time my Doc said it's hormones relaxing your muscles, so they do ache more. I'm taking it as a good sign!!

M2T will start the August thread I think! I might linger there too as if I do go to term, I will probs be late! My DD was overdue and I was induced and me and my sis were late too. Dosn't worry me though, I didn't mind being induced!Quite funny really, one minute I was eating ice cream outside in relatively minor discomfort, the next I was in agony and almost 9cm!!!

SpringChicken · 28/11/2003 16:11

Blimey - that's the way to do it Quacks!

How are you feeling? Any more confident?

Glad the cramps are nornal - weren't bothering me as such but lots have people have said to mention it midwife - wont bother now though.

quackers · 28/11/2003 16:47

Oh do if they're bothering you. I know when I was having DD, anything i wasn't happy with I asked the midwife. You need to feel incharge of your own pgcy!!
I'm, ok, thanks for asking, 5.5 weeks. Another 10 days or thereabouts until I get a scan. Just honestly taking each day! Some days symptoms are more prominent, others not, so a bit up and own - fingers , toes and tits crossed! - They're big enough!

Freddiecat · 28/11/2003 16:48

I'm getting tummy pains which I think are due to being constipated. Unfortunately I feel a bit sick and only feel like eating v unhealthy food. Trouble is people keep bringing in yummy cakes to work for birthdays etc and because I am preg I INDULGE! I know chocolate cake is not as high in fibre as a nice bit of fruit but fruit puts me in a bad mood (I know I'm weird).

BTW did anyone else get the BABY G.R.O.E.S book with their pregnancy welcome pack? I thought it was really good!

hermykne · 29/11/2003 15:31

freddiecat, constipation is a nightmare, what do you take/do for it? i have it and i am only 6 wks

quackers , you and me must be v close with due dates? me 28th/29th but my dd was 9 days late so i could go into august.

i think a new thread should start with everyone
stating due date so we get the order correct?!

too lazy to go thru the whole list again...

quackers · 29/11/2003 20:54

Hermykyne, Hi!!! I am due 28th July too!AND my DD was a week late so I will hover over the August thread too. I'm treading carefully at the mo, as I have lost 2 babies this year. Taking each day as it comes

I have my scan on Tuesday 9th, now I'm pooing myself!

hermykne · 30/11/2003 20:24

oh quackers thats amazing!
i hope everything goes really well for you.
look forward to chattin and comparing notes regularly!

quackers · 30/11/2003 21:07

Nausea had kicked in today - hurrah but urrgh!
I always get a fetish for weetabix when pg!
