Wow, you really feel that strongly that I'll have a boy?? Girls are so prominent in our family and boys on DH's side, so I suppose that would be about right one of each!!!!! I am well aware of your preminitions with Jemma!!! So your predictions I take seriously!!
M2T, bet you can't wait to find out!! My hospital won't tell you, but I don't want to know anyway. It was such a wonderful surprise when she was born cos it took about 10 mins for them to tell me what sort I'd got!!!!!

Quackers · 28/01/2004 14:35

BTW, Helsbels, we both predict our babies will be born on our Father's birthday's!!!!!!!!!

Helsbels · 28/01/2004 14:35

I was so sure with ds 1 that I told them I didn't need to know but my mw said that you push harder if you don't know!! Yes, I think it's a boy Quacks but I have been wrong before!

Helsbels · 28/01/2004 14:36

posts crossed Quacks - my dad says he will give me 10p if I wait until his birthday so it's worth it

Quackers · 28/01/2004 14:39

10p!!!! Well worth it then!!

Oh yes, I think you might work harder!! My DH put my hand on DD's head as it was coming out as they threatened a c section if I didn't get her out with next push. Feeling that made me push for my life!

SpringChicken · 28/01/2004 14:44

You've got a brave DP Quacks - My DP has already told me he is going nowhere near "that end"! !
As long as he's there i don't mind.

Helsbels · 28/01/2004 14:45

I didn't want DH there but I'm so glad he was. They are a lot braver than you think they will be when it comes to the crunch (and a lot braver than they think they will be!!)

Quackers · 28/01/2004 15:12

Have to agree. He did surprise me and was more encouraging than the midwives and doctors all shaking their heads. He was the only one that said look it's coming out, just keep pushing. Respect to my DH for that! They surprise them selves.
Have to say did any of you feel after, God did he see me like that!!!!!! At the time I couldn't give a toss but after I thought, gosh this will put him off for life!!

Helsbels · 28/01/2004 15:28

I thought that too! But here we are agin so perhaps they have shorter memories than us!!!

littlerach · 28/01/2004 18:55

Interesting, as eveyonr thinks it'll be a boy.
I think it'll be early, as DD was. And below average, as I'm small (usually!!) and DH isn't huge!! I often wonder if that is why DD was prem, that she just didn't fit anymore!
Had much better day today, had more aches, then it snowed loads, so had to leave car at work - am a wuss at driving, DH came and got me!!
I will try and find out sex at 20 wk scan.

SpringChicken · 30/01/2004 09:59

Hiya everyone - Well what a complete nightmare the last few days have turned out to be.

Started snowing really strong here on Weds at about 4.15, by 4.30 there was snow everywhere, ice everywhere - we left work early to try and get home as quickly as possible. I am absolutely petrified of driving in the icey conditions so went honme with my mum and dad - as pulling out of the driveway of work skidded out of control and missed another car by about half a centimetre. Took half and hour to get 200 yards down the road as everyone was skidding all over the place. Then decided to abandon the car and walk home.

Here's where it gets funny - there i am in smart trouser, knee high pointy boots, shirt and jacket - not hat, no gloves, no scarf, nothing! ! ! After about an hour of walking arrived at my mum and dad's house which is on route to my house, stopped off quickly to borrow some trainers and a scarf then continued my walk home - a further half hour on a good day!
Was about 10 minutes from home when DP's brother rang to see where i was and came to collect me.

Here comes the moan:

MY CALFS ACHE, MY THIGHS ACHE, MY HIPS ARE COMPLETE AGONY, MY BUM IS KILLING ME, MY LOWER BACK FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HAS TRAPPED IT IN A VICE - Can you tell i'm feeling a bit sorry for myself! !

Really didn't do myself any favours walking nearly 3 miles in high heeled boots in a snow blizzard!

Quackers · 30/01/2004 11:38

Hi Jems, what an awful day!!!!!! Hope you have had some tlc and a mug of cocoa!!!!! Hugs honey bunch {{{{{{{}}}}}}}}
At least bubba was nice and warm!!!

SpringChicken · 30/01/2004 12:03

Bet Bubba had a headache by the time i'd got home - all that bouncing around - Poor little mite

Was lying in a well deserved bath yesterday afternoon (got let home from work early) - i was fully submerged but my bump was poking over the top of the water Definitely getting bigger now!

Does anyone else find it goes bigger and harder in the evenings?

Quackers · 30/01/2004 12:12

Yes!!!! Then in the morning when I get up it seems to go a bit smaller!!! No idea why!!!
Started doing a bit og pgcy pilates yesterday and DD 'helped'. It's a bit boring TBH! I like jumping around and feeling like I'm doing something but this is all breathing and millions of reps!!! Ah well, been promised it will help my tummy! However after the birth I will be doing Carol Smillie as I did with DD as that video is FAB for getting your hips and tum back in as little time as poss!! My sis is getting married next year so I can't let myself go s I'm chief bridesmaid!!!!

SpringChicken · 30/01/2004 12:14

Same here Quacks - my bother is getting married next year- i'm not chief bridesmaid or anything but have to get myself back in shape before April or I am not going!

At least i've got a target now though - think this will help loads!

tomkitty · 30/01/2004 17:50

Hi ladies - I have been lurking. Hope you don't mind if I butt in.

I am due with my first on 26th July. It still hasn't sunk in for me. I'm not showing at all.

I am way late with everything - just now registering for dr and antenatal. I haven't even told my brothers yet.

Springchick, when you have a day like that you just know that tomorrow will be better!

littlerach · 30/01/2004 19:45

Hi tomkitty, welcome!!
Have come down with yucky cough and headache today, probably from children at nursery. And feel like I have pulled a muscle in my womb from coughing.
Not happy!!

SpringChicken · 02/02/2004 09:51

Welcome Tomkitty

Did everyone have a good weekend then?

I was soooooo good this weekend - didn't buy any new baby bits - must be the first weekend in 17 weeks although, did intend to go and buy bottles but decided to go bowling instead

17+2 now - time seems to be flying past. Got scan in just over 2 weeks then off on hols in 6 weeks by the time i get back will be 25 weeks! !
Got lots of birthdays and events going on once back from holiday so time should just fly past.

Got midwife appt next Tuesday - going to ask her about some hip problems i have been having. For the last 6 weeks or so now my left hip has been really aching, can't really sit in the same position for very long as it gets stiff and locks up. When laying in bed i can cross my right leg over left but not left over right etc etc.
Basically just wanted a bit of reassurance from my midwife - when reading my "mums on pregnancy" book yesterday someone mention being about 16 weeks and having really achey back, legs and bum - turns out everything had started lossing up too quickly and she had to wear a gurdle type thing to pull everything into place.

Anyway, enough rambling. Fell like i have so much to get out of my system on a Monday as i haven't been here all weekend

littlerach · 02/02/2004 09:57

Well done, Jem!!!
I have had a nasty cough so had a quiet weekend at home. Managed to take DD to library and Tesco!
Are you showing properly yet? I think I am starting to.
Spoke to SIL in L.A last night, she is due in May. Ante natal care is quite different over there, so we had a good chat about things.
Anyway, off to toddlers, hope you are all ok.XXX

Quackers · 02/02/2004 10:02

Welcome Tomkitty!!!!!!

Jems, I'm already using 2 pillows for support in bed as my back and hips ache so much. Last pgcy doc signed me off for whole pgcy in my old job. I was too achy!!! I feel like an old woman. Cramps when I turn over and aches and pains!!!!Feel fab otherwise!!
We bought some new furniture for babies room. We have loads of things from last time but needed a new bedroom kitting out!!! It's fab clearing out the attic and playing with all our baby things!!!

SpringChicken · 02/02/2004 10:38

Isn't it so exciting I keep looking through my bags of baby bits! Got one bag of clothes (babygrows, sox, bibs etc) and 3 bags of nursery bits (duvet, lampshade, curtains etc)

Am sitting at my desk now with a pair of jeans on - button undone and zip half down - when i'm upright they are OK but sitting down it's like they are cutting me in half! Can feel some size 14's coming on

Can't wait to get into maternity stuff now - Next have got soem lovely bits out for spring and summer!

Quackers · 02/02/2004 11:26

I'm in maternity bits now, as it's more comfy. My regular clothes didn't have any expansion room!!! There wasn't much about really in the shops that was flattering and a size bigger so I dug out my stuff and I like wearing it! Next do have some nice things and I will be ordering too! They have sets of tops, 3 for £20 - bargain!

MG, posted on Travel thread about C/P! I don't think it makes any diff waiting as I don't think you';ll learn anything apart form what to do etc... You know you want exec villa on certan dates so go for it! They won't be around forever!

madgirl · 03/02/2004 09:56

saw m/wife yesterday and listened to the baby. i was very excited. has anyone told their ds/dd (1) yet? or are you waiting? i am so in my maternity clothes it's not true.

SpringChicken · 03/02/2004 10:41

Wearing a maternity top today and it looks like a double duvet cover on a single duvet - Why does this make me so sad? ?

I think i've run out of things to search for on the internet now too - everything i manage to search for something, whether it be a pregnancy calander, a sex predictor, baby name lists but no idea's today - Think i have done everything

littlerach · 03/02/2004 10:43

Went to visit a friend who is due next Mon, she is so huge. Had excellent day, eating cake and gossiping!! That's what maternity leave should be for!
