quackers, posted on another thread. all lovely at scan- really clear, but nuchal wasn't as great risk-wise as i'd have liked, my risk is 1:684. I'm 36 and the measurement was 2mm. can't make up my mind whether to have an amnio. sorry all if that sounds like spoilt little pregnant and all ok kid, but i just can't forget that with ds my risk was around 1:2000. feeling a bit blue about it, i so badly want just to be ecstatic that the baby waved and all ok, and to stop worrying and i cant.
NGPY how are you?
am telling work tomorrow! at last can justify going into maternity clothes. can't believe how i have expanded this time round. my one pair of trousers which i can wear at home are almost standing up by themselves.

Quackers · 04/01/2004 21:07

Madgirl, that is a good result! Did they not tell u that???? It's only 1:250 or less they usually offer amnio I believe. My dd was 1:500, she's fine. It's just an indicator as I'm sure you know. I would be ok with that result. Glad all was well though!!!

madgirl · 05/01/2004 08:07

no in fact the sonographer was really cold- she gave me the stat and said "it's up to you whether you want an invasive or not" - call us next week if you want to discuss it. my poor dh was very confused when he looked at me outside the hospital and said excitedly what a greeat scan, i'm sure it's a girl bla bla, even saw it's little knuckles, and then i burst into tears. doesn't help of course that i am soooooooooo emotional at the moment. but she did confuse me, as when i looked worried she just said well everyone is different. perhaps i would feel better if she had said "don't be ridiculous that's a fine result go away and stop wasting my time". when's next scan quacks?

Quackers · 05/01/2004 08:50

Some sonographers are so rude and lack compassion totally. When I had a nuchal with DD, you are sent to a midwife after to interpret results and discuss options. Do you have a midwife yet? Could you talk to your Doctor about the result? Do you really want to risk the amnio, when the odds are as good as they are. I'm not really good at maths but a 1-2% risk of m/c would probably be higher than the odds of having downs??
My booking in will be in the next week and I believe the SHO will scan me. It's starting to go quicker now!

SpringChicken · 05/01/2004 08:55

Wehey - Look who's back!

God, feels like i have been away forever - think it might take me a while to catch up on everything.

Glad you scans went OK Madgirl and Quackmeister

How is everyone else doing?

Have got me scan on Thursday - according to hospital i will be 13+1 but by my dates i will be 14+2 - either which way i'm not fussed now - gone passed the 3 month stage and actually allowed myself to buy some baby grows and scratch mitts on Saturday.
Got a little bump now - feels sooooooo nice - i'm one of these annoying people who just walks around touching their belly all the time

Hopefully will get a picture on Thursday. Will be our 3rd scan so hopefully 3rd time lucky!!!!!!

Had the chance to talk to DP over Xmas about the triple test - we have decided not to have it - he came round to the idea really easily after i'd told him all about the statistics etc.

Anyway, enough jabbering - got alot of catching up to do.

Jems x

Freddiecat · 05/01/2004 10:09

hello i'm back too - and I'm wearing maternity trousers! nearly 15 weeks now which i can't quite believe.

Quackers · 05/01/2004 10:14

Hiya, good to have you all back!!! Happy new year!!!!!

Good luck with the scan Jems!!!

I have a little bump now, I can't help feel it when I wake up, making sure it's still there!! I have lost a couple of pounds or so but cannot get into my black trousers any more, so have resorted to some maternity trousers I dug out of the attic. They look really slimming but cos they're so big I look like I've got a nappy on!!!!!!

SpringChicken · 05/01/2004 11:16

Lovely Quacks - bet that looks attractive!

My DP has started taking the mickey out of me for wearing what he calls apple catchers!

Most of my bottoms still fit but after wearing for an hour or so they start hurting my tummy and digging in a bit - trying not to get anythign maternity yet - although have bought bigger size trousers and tops.

Went shopping on Saturday to start getting bits for my holiday - i nearly cried when i tried my new bikini on - you can really see a proper bump and it looks lovely - didn't want to take it off as when wearing normal clothes i just look fat really!

My boobs are huge too - i'm not the smallest of girls anyway with 36c's usually but they just seem to be out of control - they are all nice and veiney at the moment too - Niiiccceeeee

SpringChicken · 05/01/2004 12:04

Another typically thick question from Jems!

How often should i be seeing my midwife? I last saw a midwife 9th December but it wasn't my usual midwife as she was on holiday.
My usual midwife usually arranges my next visit whilst i am there but the one i saw didn't even mention a next visit. When should i ring and arrange my next one for?

Hello everyone

Thank you for your comments re going for a "reassurance scan". I have decided not to go for an additional scan after all. Two main reasons for this. First, symptoms have resumed somewhat, which is reassuring. Also, have decided that if I give in to every little anxious niggle during this pregnancy I will drive myself mad. So I have decided to wait until scheduled nuchal scan on 20th January.

Thanks again

littlerach · 05/01/2004 12:35

No nausea today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to have you back, jem.
Have my booking appt on fri 16, will I have a scan?

M2T · 05/01/2004 12:38

Littlerach - The booking appointment I had was just for the usual forms about family history and signing stuff and they gave me loads of blood tests. No scan. But then you're further on than me. I( was only 8/9wks at my booking in appointment so they might just do it all there and then. Good luck.

Quackers · 05/01/2004 14:03

Good luck NGPY, glad things are better for you!!! hang in there!!!
Littlerach, everywhere is different. I have my booking in at 12 weeks and get a scan too. I have had 2 scans already cos of my history but normally 12 weeks would be the first here. Could you ring a midwife/Doc and find out?
Jems it's usually every 4 weeks, but I've always had to make the appointments myself. Then after 32 weeks it's usually every 2 and then 37 weeks, every week.

SpringChicken · 05/01/2004 14:58

Cheers campers - My midwife's only in on Tuesdays so will ring and make an appointment for next Tuesday!

You'd think with all the boks i've been reading i'd know everything there was to know!

SpringChicken · 08/01/2004 13:00

Well I'm all out of breath now!

Just spent the last 10 minutes rallying around everyone at work for some change for the scan machine this afternoon.
We need 4 pictures so needed £14 (ridiculous!) - needless to say, from all my begging i'm only 50p short now!

Really should be more organised - I've got plenty of notes in my purse butt he shop at the hospital wont give change for the machine and i'm going straight there.

SpringChicken · 08/01/2004 16:55

WHERE ON EARTH IS EVERYONE! ! ! ! ! I am dying to tell all about my scan and there is no bugger here to listen!

So i will just tell the fairies instead.

DP was sat behind the sonographer so could see everything before me - he was pointing at the screen with a look of awe on his face - next time i looked he was crying Bless, he was so overwhelmed!

I couldn't believe how clear everything looked - when i have seen scan pictures before you could just about make out the head and everything else was a bit of a blur but on ours we can see the head , some facial feature's , legs , feet , spine - even saw a hand and fingers but that's not in the photo.

Obviously we knew there was a baby there but see if on the screen makes everything seem so real.

Baby was measuring 7.9cm - i was dated as 13+5 which means bambino is due 13th July - Weyhey, i have an actual fixed date at last !

Ahh Thanks Dinosaur

My birthday's 20 th July so just hope this little tike comes nice and early

littlerach · 08/01/2004 19:14

Am so pleased for you, sc, does it seem even more real now?
This is day 4 of no morning sickness now, and have actually been managing normal foods. But still no chocolate.
A friend told me today that I look slimmer in the face - could be to do with all the puking!! Also the fat has shifted to my middle!!

NGPY · 08/01/2004 19:19

That is lovely, SC. I can't wait for my scan - two more weeks to go.

Quackers · 09/01/2004 11:34

I'm back, can only log on at work at the mo, my computer has a virus at home

Great news Jems, it's wonderful isn't it!!!!!!!!

I had a panick yesterday and thought all had gone wrong, so my lovely Doctor had me in and listened again for the heartbeat. At first - nothing and then when she moved it HEARTBEAT!!! Thank god. Panick over - for this week any way!! She said I could go anytime, might have to take her up on that!
11 weeks 3 days now and JUST RESIGNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

M2T · 09/01/2004 11:41

SC - That's Fantastic! Can't wait for mine.

Quacks - Wow I didn't think you could pick up the heartbeat until later on. That's wonderful!
And resigned too.... sounds perfect!! But you better get your PC sorted at home if you can only access MN at work!

When do you finish up then?

madgirl · 09/01/2004 11:43

yeah man quacks! good for you. when's your next scan?

SpringChicken · 09/01/2004 11:54

Aparently the heartbeat can be picked up on one of those tube things (That's how technical i am ) at around 12 weeks - therefore Quacks is about right.

How comes you resigned Quacks?
