OI!!
Nothing wrong with being a size 14!
I'm a 15 at the moment and would LOVE to be a 14.

Incidentally I was a 12 before ds.

Ho hum.... just have to hope that I can breastfeed the next one and the baby can suck all that extra weight off of me!

SpringChicken · 10/12/2003 16:09

Thanks M2T - Can always rely on you - although my mum already had great pleasure in telling me this whilst out shopping on Sunday!

Have got a couple of pairs of joggers which will do for at home and slouching around and now have 2 pairs of jeans that fit - will just have to make do until i need Maternity Stuff

M2T · 10/12/2003 16:10

Twice SC????

Are you feeling a bit trigger happy?

SpringChicken · 10/12/2003 16:11

Ooooops - thats what you get for not paying attention!

quackers · 10/12/2003 20:05

I'm a 15.5 Was also a 12 before DD. 14 top though!
14 jeans are my dream!!!
I'll have to get some more trousers, struggling abit now!!

madgirl · 11/12/2003 08:00

i'm wearing last time's maternity trousers today! 6:20 this am with dh dead to world and ds shouting "where are dusty and smudge" at the top of his lungs, and pitch black and raining outside, had to resurrect them from drawer. at 9 weeks tomorrow- is this a record?
got nuchal scan through for jan2. dh is at home with ds that day as nursery semi-closed. should we leave him in nursery as vitually only child there or should i go on own /ask a friend, tho think most people will be away then still?

littlerach · 11/12/2003 13:51

Hello everyone, hope you're all well. Have my dating scan on thurs 18, I am sure my edd is 29 July, although dd was 5 weeks early, so we'll see!! Can one of you explain the procedures for Downs testing, as I think things have changed. My boobs are so sore, and seem to grow by the day!! How much do you see at the dating scan, I'll be about 8 weeks then. Today I didn't feel sick when I got up - hurrah!!!
I'm sure I didn't get any maternity clothes until around 25 weeks last time, I relied on size 14 and drawstring trousers!! At least we can all get some in the January sales.

SpringChicken · 11/12/2003 14:05

That's my plan too Little Rach - wait til January Sales!

As far as i am aware the testing for Downs Syndrome is like this:
You have a blood test to establish if you are high risk or low risk - can't tell you the figures as don't have them to hand.
If your results come back as low rick it means you have are low risk of having a downs baby and no further tests are done.
If you are high risk you have the option to either have no further testing, have further scans to try to get more detail or have an amnio.

Don't know if you looked at the link mears posted the other day but it was very good static wise here it is again

Freddiecat · 11/12/2003 14:37

I know when I was pregnant with DS (2002) that was the case. You had a blood test but it's crucial to remember that depending upon your age the test is not very accurate.

I was 27 at the time and I believe that the blood test would have had a 50% chance of accuracy. I did not bother to have the test as if it had shown I was high risk it was equally as likely to be a low risk so it seemed a completely pointless exercise for me. As you get older the test becomes more accurate. I think now I aam 29 the accuracy is 57% so I shall still not bother to have the test.

SpringChicken · 11/12/2003 15:25

I never know that the accuracy depended on your age Freddie!
You have just completely made up my mind for me!

I told DP to remind me that there was something i needed to talk to him about last night but he conveniently forgot.

MUST REMEMBER TO TALK TO DP TONIGHT.

quackers · 11/12/2003 17:00

Good luck tonight jems. I've been umming and ahhing over this too now. Are any of you having a nuchal?? had one with dd, but have moved and they don't do it here. Might have to do a private one. What's the story?
Madgirl, Hi, Can you get a relative or friend to watch your littl'n? Then you and DH can both go for nuchal?

My next scan a week on Tues. Consultant has been fab doing this for me. xx

littlerach · 11/12/2003 20:08

I don't think that I shall bother having any tests then, as I am 27, and have had one healthy baby, and have no family history of chromosomal faults. Have been rather emotional today about everything - flat tyre when we were in a rush, then awful traffic jam. Also has a terrible text from a good friend whose mother has terminal cancer, and has to start chemo asap, even though they don't hold out much hope for her. She has asked me not to call her, as she is finding it all a bit hard, and I feel useless, oh, life is so unfair. So emotions are running high!! Have a good evening.XX

madgirl · 12/12/2003 08:26

quacks, all resolved, ds's nursery open that day and other kids will be there so normal day for him. hugs to you littlerach, sure your friend will be ready to talk soon. god cancer is an evil thing.
on brighter note- anyone brave enough to have been surfing the babies' names threads?

quackers · 12/12/2003 08:48

Mornin'. How is everyone?? Madgirl, glad you're sorted. If my scan is a week Mon, I have no-one to look after DD, hope they make it Tues.

Littlerach, so sorry to hear your news and your bad day. xx hugs {{{{}}}

Well nausea is back, not bad enough to be sick, but very much 'in the way' 7 weeks 3 days, it's picking up a bit now! Going out for lunch with my Mum today, it's her birthday and it's mine tomorrow and I'll be 30!! So last day of 29 and I'll be sitting in with my mug of ovaltine!!

madgirl · 12/12/2003 09:20

quacks what are you doing tom. eve? don't think will be logging on tomorrow so:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

quackers · 12/12/2003 10:55

Ta xx
Going to a posh restaurant with Mum, dad and DH. Got a sitter! Best you can do when not drinking!!

Cavy · 14/12/2003 11:15

NCT runs a maternity hire wear scheme -- I went and hired 5 pairs of trousers & a swimsuit for £6, yesterday. I promised the lady I would publicise it; It's such good value because I was going to spend £6 on buying a 2nd hand swimsuit on Ebay that I couldn't even try on before buying! So if any of you ladies need any maternity wear, maybe try to contact your local branch of NCT first!

quackers · 16/12/2003 08:48

Hi all, how is everyone, been quiet here for a while.
I'm 8 weeks today. Felt rotten yesterday, sick all day and night but it's better this am. Got my next scan a week today too!!
Going to try and get another sick note today from the Doc to see through to Xmas.

Take care for now!

lazyeye · 16/12/2003 09:13

8 weeks already Quacks - trotting along nicely. I always think 8 weeks sounds much better than 6 or 7......

I'm hanging around this thread also cos my DD is 26th June but DS2 was 10 days late so....

12+3 today so still trying to take it a day at a time, but secretly hopeful. Sickness much better.

quackers · 16/12/2003 14:14

I agree, thought it was me who only had that mentality Lazyeye!!
Got another 2 weeks off work too! That is such a relief not to have to go there!!

hermykne · 16/12/2003 19:24

quackers
me and you are the same!
the sickness i get is nausea in the evening, so after i put dd to bed and look forward to my quiet relax time i just feel awful
but have started to drink cran/rasp and something else tea with ginger grated in to it and it seems to help.
other than that absolutely knackered by 5pm.

quackers · 17/12/2003 09:00

Yep, come 4pm I feel crap and can't really eat much. However lunch time, I eat like a horse!!!!

littlerach · 17/12/2003 10:42

I actually had two cooked meals yesterday!! Hurray!!!! But the bad news is that I couldn't manage any choc torte after!!

SpringChicken · 17/12/2003 10:52

Hi Everyone,

Haven't been on for a while as i had some bleeding - started Sunday evening still happening now but very little.
Went to hospital to have a scan and thankfully everything is OK - midwife just put it down to doing too much and my body's way of saying "STOP"!

It was the most horrendous experience of my life - i thought my baby was going to die - was in an uncontrolable state then realised i needed to keep myself together for DP's sake as he does not cope well with these things.

Anyway, as i said, thankfully everything is OK - sonographer dated me as 10 weeks today rather than the 11+1 i thought i was - EDD now 17th July.

Glad to see everything is going well for you quacks - and everyone else of course.

I've just popped into work to sort some bits out but now have until 5th January off to rest - will try and get on over Xmas - Hope everyone has a great Crimbo.

See you all in 2004

Love Jem x

GladTidings · 17/12/2003 10:56

Springchicken - That must've been awful, but I'm so glad it turned out to be okay!!

Its quite a let down to be told you are not as far on as you thought, isn't it? Even though it IS only a week.

You have a lovely festive period and relax! It'll be the last Christmas that you CAN relax coz next Christmas you are Santa Claus.
