Hi there. I was just wondering how everyone is - Ghosty, Hilary, Bogwoppit and anybody else who is pregnant after a previous miscarriage. There seems to have been a lot of sad news re pregnancies on mumsnet recently. On the one hand, I feel like I don't want to parade being pregnant in front of those who have had an m/c - on the other hand, we need to show that there are some positive stories out there!
I am 16 weeks tomorrow. Feeling ok, over the nausea I felt from about week 7 to week 12 or 13.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hana · 07/05/2004 14:06

aw miraclebabie, so sorry you didn't get your positive.
any chance it was too early to test?

DelGirl · 07/05/2004 14:31

my thoughts too Hana just don't want to raise your hopes miracleabie - but you never know. try again in a couple of days. thinking of you miracleabie xx

bunny2 · 09/05/2004 00:27

miracleabie, bad luck I'm really sorry (I always test neg first though so dont give up just yet)

Bogwoppit · 09/05/2004 20:13

not posted on here for ages.

I can't quite belive I am 34 weeks already so on the home straight now. I still can't get over making it this far after last itme.

good luck to those of you who are still in those early days.

Quackers - nice to know youa re still around - was wondering where you were!

hana · 09/05/2004 22:21

Bogwoppit - you're on the home stretch! Looking forward to hearing your special news soon!

A question to make me feel (hopefully) better.
For the past hour I've been getting twinges like tightening up feelings - not really cramps but similar. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. Is this normal for my dates? Worry at every pain or cramp.

bunny2 · 09/05/2004 23:12

Bogwoppit, good luck with the home stretch

Hana, pls dont worry, I think the pains you describe are very normal, I have had them on and off, I presume everything is shifting around and stretching to make way for the rowing baby.

bunny2 · 09/05/2004 23:13

growing not rowing!

Quackers · 09/05/2004 23:22

Bunny - it could be rowing. you never know in there!
Hana. yes don't worry, I had tons of really weird cramps and twinges and panicky moments. So much is going on down there and I think when you;ve had a m/c you are very aware anyway of every little thing that goes on in your body. Try not to worry about it, it means things are growing and stretching!
Boggy!!! Hi chuck, glad you;re well! Come onto July thread and say hello!

Had a growth scan today. Bubbs is a bit small and measuring 2 weeks less than it should. Seeing the consultant tommorow for his opinion but Doc reckons they'll do extra scans and check bubbs is growing. The sonographer did a doppler scan, which I found amazing. It shows up the umbilical and activity in it in colour. Also, I'll be induced by the sounds of it, which doesn;t bother me as DD was and it was fine.
Bunny, when is your next scan?? Hana, did you get yours booked?

jellycat · 10/05/2004 02:01

Hi folks, how is everyone? Good to hear from you Bogwoppit. Quackers, sounds like they're being sensible about your babe. I seem to remember you saying that your dd was small, so maybe you just have small babies.

hana, you're doing well - 7 weeks already! Hope you managed to get a scan. I've heard lots of people say they had pains like the ones you describe, although I haven't noticed them myself.

I'm feeling a bit anxious again. It seems a long time since the scan and I don't have a date yet for my 12 week scan. I'm 11 weeks on Thursday and that was the time I miscarried my first. Also, for a few days at the end of last week and over the weekend I felt really well so I thought maybe it had all gone wrong. But today I have felt awful again (sick and tired and hungry - ate large quantities of cake I found in the cupboard. Had forgotten it was there and it is near its `use-by' date so I just had to!). But I just can't stop worrying - you all know what I mean I'm sure!

Off to bed now. Fell asleep on sofa while reading to ds this afternoon!

hana · 10/05/2004 11:57

thanks guys - I'm sure it's just that and I shouldn't be worrying. I'm sick at least twice a day, just after b'fast and before I go to bed, so they are good signs too...... Sleeping lots too, after bfast I sneak back to bed and dd plays on the bed, and then in afternoon. Soooo tired, nothing is getting done in the house - dh commented that maybe we should get a cleaner in until I'm 'up for it' again. I don't want a cleaner though! But can't do it myself, doesn't take long for a house to get really messy and dusty does it?
No dates for a scan yet, hopefully soon.

bunny2 · 10/05/2004 20:01

I'd def get a cleaner Hana. the tiredness is a really good sign. Mine is wearing off a bit now but till recently I had to have a nap in the day, ds watched more tv as a result. I know what you are going through and I know how hard it is but try to take some comfort from Quacks and the others who are doing so well. Also statistically it is so much rarer to have 3 mcs rather than 2.

Jellycat, I'll be thinking of you this week, once you are past the 11 wk mark and you have had a 12 wk scan, you should start to feel much better. We are nearly there!

I have my 12 wk scan next Wed, it's a nuchal fold scan but I wouldnt risk an amnio even if the nuchal results were worrying. Cant wait to get out of this first trimester.

Quacks, glad they are keeping an eye on your babys growth. I think slow growth is only a potential problem if in the first 12 weeks. After that it can vey alot so maybe you do just have small babies.

hana · 10/05/2004 21:42

have my date through for an early scan - not for another couple of weeks when I'll be 9 weeks. Still wondering if I should have the nuchal fold -wouldn't change anything but I suppose give us more information. The baby I lost last summer had downs syndrome.

hana · 10/05/2004 21:43

jellycat - any date through yet? hope you get one soon.

Quackers · 10/05/2004 23:39

Hana, dpends what you feel you would do with the result the nuchal would give you. Would you opt for an amnio and after that terminate if it was a positive for downs. Have you discussed with DH?
Bunny, your'e racing along now! Can't believe you;re almost out of first trimester! Jelly, Hiya, chuck, hang in there, won;t be long till your scan and you'll certainly be able to relax a little more into your pgcy. Hope you manage to enjoy some of it as the first bit is just too worrrying to bear isn't it. xxx

bunny2 · 11/05/2004 01:19

7 days and counting!!

Hana, We would not opt for an amnio and risk miscarrying wahtever the result of the nuchal scan so I dont really know why I'm having it. Hopefully it will just give us reassurance. If we get a worrying result we can use the next few months to explore DS so at least we can be a bit prepared.

Jezebel · 11/05/2004 15:44

Hi all, have had some spotting 2 days ago. One smudge of red on Tue and then up to now yellowy discharge, less white than before. Really want a scan. Had this with dd at about this time but am still sh* myself.

hana · 11/05/2004 20:48

jezebel - can you go to a hospital and just tell them what is happening? Good sign that it stopped though. Thinking of you.

NO I wouldn't hav amnio or terminate, I just meant it would give us more information as to what's inside - and think about how to 'prepare' if you even can

bunny2 · 11/05/2004 23:38

Jezebel, is your gp understanding? He/she should refer you for a scan given your history. I have had spotting and all is fine, I read 80% of spotting turns out to be harmless but I imagine you are terrified anyway. I was almost hysterical after one episode of spotting. Thinking of you.

Hana, how are you? Do you feel a bit better?

smellymelly · 12/05/2004 22:51

Hello everyone, I just wanted to pop in to thank Bunny2 for the congrats. I've been following you especially on this thread and have been keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!!

I was interested because of my ectopic, but looks like I'm in the clear thankfully. But I will keep checking on you lot, if that is ok?

SM

Quackers · 12/05/2004 23:42

Jezebel, did you see the GP to get an early scan - are you ok??

Jezebel · 13/05/2004 00:22

Quackers thanks for your concern. I have a scan booked for Monday at 11am. Not spotting as such now 'tho a very little pink earlier. More off-white colour. This is dreadful! But I appreciate all of your support. I also know that similar happened with dd though no red/pink but lots of black over a couple of days.

bunny2 · 13/05/2004 00:33

JEzebel, I'll be thinking of you over the weekend, how awful to have to wait. Fingers tightly crossed for Monday.

Smelly, thanks . It will be lovely if you pop in to see us ocassionally.

jellycat · 13/05/2004 01:56

Still no scan date . It must be within the next 2 weeks because it is supposed to be a nuchal (routine at our hospital). I am just trying to remember there is no sign of anything being wrong so hopefully it's OK. I'm past that 11 week mark at least .

Jezebel, hope everything is OK. Fingers crossed.

hana, sounds like you are really suffering. Housework isn't important (can you get dd to help? As if it's a game? Mind you, a cleaner is an even better idea).

Hello smelly , how are you?

Quackers · 13/05/2004 19:35

Good luck then for Monday, it;s tough having to wait until then. Hope the weekend doesn;t last too long for you. Hugs {{{}}}

smellymelly · 14/05/2004 14:10

Hi jellycat - I'm Ok? Well - I'm feeling so sick, which I know is a good sign, but it is very hard to deal with already.... May have something to do with the fact that it looks like I'm having Twins!!!! AGHHHHHH!

We are trying to come to terms with the news we got on Tues, but a few people have warned me that just because it starts out as a twin pregnancy, doesn't mean it will stay as 2.

Have another scan on Tues 11th, to check, and they have told me to be aware and go in if any problems.
