Hi all,

absolutely shattered here! I finish work on Tuesday and my boss is being a complete pain about it - she keeps adding to the pile of things she wants finished before I leave Angry. I was working until 4am last night to try to get through it. Thank goodness I finish on Tuesday, I've never been so happy to leave a job but this project has been awful. Never mind, nearly done, hooray!!!

DD will still be going to nursery for a couple of weeks after I finish so I'm going to have a few days to myself for xmas shopping etc. Is it sad to admit that I'm really looking forward to having time to give the house a good clean and tidy, doing some cooking and restocking the freezer and sorting out all the paperwork and 'to do' lists that are piling up Blush. I'm not usually very domestic but we've been so busy recently the house is a tip and we are living on toast and beans, pasta or sandwiches Blush. Thank goodness DD eats at nursery. I want to be tidy and organised then we can all have a lovely relaxing xmas hol Grin. It's going to be great! DD has started saying that Santa is coming and bringing her a new baby doll and a pushchair - this is the first year she understands a bit about santa and is getting excited, it's so cute. She loves opening our cards and watching the tree (although its a full time job stopping her playing with the baubles and snowmen!).

always - I get heartburn too Sad. It's horrible isn't it. My midwife recommended sucking on lovehearts as I hate gaviscon and it does help plus I drink loads of cold milk. I know milk is meant to make it worse but I always find it helps.

Congrats on the good scans alextasha and bitbot and on the twins bigboobs and buonasera. My friend had non-identical twin girls this year and has found them much easier than her DS (now 4) - it is a bit harder if they are both crying but generally they gurgle happily at each other and seem more relaxed and don't need to be carried around with her as much. It is so cute to see them smiling and waving at each other Smile.

Hi to everyone else

Rugbylovingmum · 11/12/2011 12:49

Wow PeahenTailFeathers, not long to wait for your scan Grin. I'm really looking forward to finding out too.

hippieshake · 11/12/2011 14:58

Hello everyone.

I tried on my new swimsuit today and there is definately a small bump starting to show now, yaaayyyy!! Still in my size 8 skinny jeans, although I have put 5lbs on.

I have my consultant appointment on Tuesday, hoping to hear the heartbeat. Then it's only 4 weeks until my scan!!

always and rugby with you on the heartburn. Gaviscon makes me bloated and gassy, so I've been having cold milk too.

I hope everyone is well xx

bigboobsatlast · 11/12/2011 18:19

Congrats to those who have had good scans. I am hoping not to find out the gender (even though it is soooooooo tempting!), but think that I may find out even though I dont want to as having fortnightly scans.... I am guessing that as time goes on it will be obvious, especially if they are boys!

So felt a kick, alwaysanauntie? I honestly thought I would have by now as second baby and there are two in there moving about, but nothing really only a feeling of 'losing my stomach'... you know what it feels like when you drive over a humped bridge type feeling??! I can only giess it is the babies moving about, but no kicks as such as yet. Only 16+4 though so still early.

Felt full of energy today which has been lush! lets hope it continues... Xmas Smile

karatekimmi · 11/12/2011 20:11

Hi all, very excited as only 5 work get ups till Christmas!

Not sure whether hormones are getting to me, or whether my sis is the biggest bitch in the world! She said she wishes my husband was dead with every fibre of her being, and then was affronted when I suggested maybe she shouldn't come over to our house next weekend if that's how she feels about him! ( He is oblivious to all this and she generally is a nasty person and wishes 99% of the population dead!) cue lots of arguing - ruined her birthday and Xmas by being pregnant ...

I'm getting sick of her and her attitude, but know that if I don't make the effort then she'll have nothing more to do with us. We are ridiculously close and I know she is just "acting out" as I have a new focus in my life, but she is 34 and frankly she needs to grow up! Sorry for the rant, but feel like I have no one to talk to - don't want to tell dh what sis is really like, can't speak to parents as it'll be held against me by sis - trying to turn them against her and not sure I want friends to know how horrible she is! I'm sure it'll all blow over, but I'm sure that if I wasn't so hormonal then I'd just ignore the comments but have literally spent the weekend crying - drovevto tesco car park sat there sobbing for half an hour then came home!

Dozeyland · 11/12/2011 20:28

Feeling movements too.

need to add myself to the list again Hmm

Dozey sorry, I thought I'd picked up everyone who got chucked off. Good to hear you're getting kicks too, something positive for you to enjoy.

Rugby 4 am?! I only see that time in the morning if I wake up early. Sounds rubbish but at least it will all be over soon & you can relax over Xmas.

karatekimmi hope you dont mind me saying your sis sounds like a complete bitch! Can't blame u for crying at Tesco, it's made me angry & I don't even know her, she's being amazingly selfish. Try to ignore her or tell her to grow up, totally unreasonable! :(

Wommer · 12/12/2011 15:09

Hi all,
Has anyone had any round ligament pain yet? I thought I had, which was a relatively mild ache in my groin area, but the today I've been having a much sharper pain slightly higher up. It feels like a cross between stitch and wind... Anyone felt this?
Xx

VeronicaSpeedwell · 12/12/2011 15:23

Glad to see everyone's news, though karate I am also fuming on your behalf at your sister's behaviour! I've had a couple of bizarre responses from friends, which I can only assume are to do with their own issues, but to have your own sister react like that must be very upsetting. And she's so extreme! Poor you Sad. You sound very noble in trying not to tell other people about it, (and doing your crying in Tesco's car park!) but do make sure you get to talk about it, even if only on here.

I'm glad to see people feeling movements. I have had some faint tapping sensations for the last couple of weeks but couldn't believe they were anything as I'm a first timer, and it seems early. However, on Sunday morning I was dozing in bed and jumped out of my skin, about to tell DH not to poke me in the belly, especially not so hard as that's where the baby is. Then I saw both his hands, so it wasn't him! Shock He promises he went nowhere near me (and to be fair it would be a weird thing to do, and he is lovely and normal, so I believe him). I never even thought it would be the baby, so wasn't paying attention to it in that way. Nothing since -- I really want it to happen again!

Wommer, I've had a few stabby pains down there, but have no idea how I'd identify it as round ligament pain. It's not an ongoing problem for me, certainly.

I am definitely showing though very wobbily underneath all the weight gained over summer....I blame the camping BBQs!

Sickness has eased off which is wonderful as had it 8 months with the first! Getting heartburn (again) but gaviscon is my friend...have more energy now but still asleep before 9pm :)

Lovely to "meet" everyone....

xx

BlueCrane · 12/12/2011 15:51

wommer not sure what 'round ligament pain is' but I feel as though someone has tried to pull my left hip out of place and have lots of stabbing pains down my left groin and generally in quite a lot of pain at the moment Sad paracetamol doesn't seem to do anything and impossible to find a comfortable position! Probably another useless nights sleep tonight again because of it too..am soooo sleepy today!!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 12/12/2011 16:02

Welcome slightlyfluffy! 8 months of sickness sounds awful, I'm glad you're not getting a repeat performance!

Sad BlueCrane, the pain sounds miserable, I really hope it eases off for you. I've no idea what more you could do about it. I've had some aching hips which worry me a bit, as they are hypermobile anyays so I'm concerned about the effects of relaxin. Worse was the really stabby pain up by bum, which I'm hoping has stopped now... However, I can at least sleep again, after a very insomniac first trimester. Apparently I've started snoring Blush. Really hope you feel better soon Thanks.

VeronicaSpeedwell · 12/12/2011 16:03

anyays anyway

lobba · 12/12/2011 17:07

Had my consultant appointment this afternoon - he wasn't too concerned about my back but has referred me to an anaethetist to discuss pain relief options. He was a bit concerned about my asthma which I hadn't thought about before - I manage it using an inhaler twice a day and very rarely have any wheezing. He's booked me in for extra scans at 28 and 34 weeks and now I'm worried especially as I've read that my inhaler should be used with extreme care in pregnant women -I asked both my practice nurse (before TTC) and midwife and they said it was fine to continue taking it!!
I thought I was quite fit and healthy - I guess not!

AlexTasha · 12/12/2011 17:19

karate your sister sounds like a bitch. when i told my sister I was pregnant she told me she thought she was pregnant, but wasnt, then a 4 weeks later she told me she was pregnant. from the dates she got pregnant a week after i told her i was pregnant. we are twins and she has always tried to outdo me at stuff so its pretty pathetic if she got pregnant on purpose. she has no job, the dad is in jail and my DP thinks she did it just so I wouldnt be the centre of attention. i dont know what to think, i dont even know if she is telling the truth about being pregnant cos she is a pathological liar. so odd.

lobba hope you feel better :(

hippie we bought some baby clothes on the weekend, half price sale at mothercare! its the first time we have bought anything for him and it was so exciting. I also got on of those full body pillows. Oh my god, it is amazing.

Hi everyone and I hope you are all feeling good! xx

Dozeyland · 12/12/2011 19:48

Dreamgenii is genius :)

along with everything thats going on, the only symptom i seem to have is hormones, but that could just be the stress lately...

i think i am getting a slight bump, mainly bloating though i think...

Anyone else having bad skin? i have breakouts on my face, and then dry legs grrr

BlueCrane · 12/12/2011 20:39

dozey my skin is v dry...never been like it before so must be the effects of the pregnancy hormones. So so looking forward to my body pillow arriving.

Also really hoping these lovely laxatives the doctor gave me earlier do a bit more than producing wind (sorry TMI but I need some relief from this pain and am clearly still bunged up Sad ) still hoping the pain I've been suffering is due to constipation and not something more serious such as Spd...will just have to wait and see I guess!

karate and alex so sorry about sister issues...what a pain and just what you don't need right now!

Anyone else struggling to sleep at the moment? Even without the pain I've been waking up loads to pee and then not been able to get back to sleep...soooo tired!

Dozeyland · 12/12/2011 21:01

Bluecrane Oh i hope it helps you, I too have problems going to the loo! its horrid isnt it, I just constantly feel full up, and i know its not baby, amount of food i eat or anything. I just dont seem to be able to go frequently. i think im eating the wrong foods too, craving sugary things and just crap at the mo.

trying to have my porridge every morning, and mint tea in the evening, and drink water but easier said than done for me :(

might try some lactulose?

I have to have a wee, sometimes two in the night

hippieshake · 12/12/2011 21:28

Is it true that you're supposed to put on 1lb a week in the 2nd trimester? That seems like a lot! x

alwaysanauntie · 13/12/2011 09:24

Wommer I've had random pains all over the place: achey lower back, the constipation agony, cramps in my abdomen and now random stabbing pains in right labia (wtf is that all about?!). It seems there's a multitude of weird & wonderful discomforts that we get to enjoy as pg ladies! I think so long as it's not too severe & doesn't last too long we just have to get on with it...

Re pillows I just bought a memory foam and microfibre neck support from john Lewis and am sleeping soooo much better, really helps with neck stiffness, although it does mean I get a bit of a hot left ear!

hippieshake I've read that too, I guess it makes sense as 2nd trim is from 13 to 26 weeks & given that weight gain in 1st trim is supposed to be 0 and by the end of pg total gain is around 26 pounds. Slightly scary but on average actual body fat for us is only 7 lbs the rest is baby & support system so not too bad!

alwaysanauntie · 13/12/2011 09:26

Caveat on the weight gain: that's on average, we're all different & you may gain weight earlier, later or not at all :)

BlueCrane · 13/12/2011 10:09

Morning all...well, I have a new friend... Lactulose Smile worked absolute wonders on what has transpired to be extreme pain caused by trapped wind from my constipation of all things! Yes, the bedroom did resemble the guts of a nuclear reactor when DH came to bed (felt quite sorry for him it smelt soooo bad, but the relief I was feeling from the release of wind and pain going meant I didn't feel too sorry) Far TMI I know but oh, the relief this morning of a) not being in so much pain and b) actually having had some sleep and feeling more awake Xmas Grin I still have some pain in my left hip and lower back but much much better than it was!!

Re. the weight gain I thought the 1lb per week was in the thirs trimester?

alwaysanauntie · 13/12/2011 11:14

bluecrane yay for lactulose! Glad you're feeling better, amazing the discomfort a bit of air can cause (must remember this when our babies are grisly and not tired/hungry/needing nappy changing) :)

As I said with weight, it all depends, and it will prob also be around a pound per week in 3rd trim, as 27 weeks in 2nd & 3rd trims equals 27 pounds of weight gain :o

BlueCrane · 13/12/2011 11:18

always I'm probably just in denial at having to see the scales move up that much over the next few months, hence my happily thinking you should only put that weight on in the 3rd trimester! Must get my book out and do some more reading now that my brain can function again after the pain has subsided!! If my baby has bowels anything like mine then I think I will definitely need to remember the amount of pain air and constipation can cause!!
