Hi ladies,

I have an anterior placenta too, like a lot of you, I can feel the movements mainly when I'm sitting quietly in the evening and at work, but he barely moves at night luckilly! Hopefully that is a sign of his sleeping patterns! Haha, yeah right!

That is so scary about the lady on the other thread having her baby! Wow, I really hope it is OK. I went to the hospital the other night with massive stomach pains, but it was a combination of muscle pain and indigestion (damn you Nandos hot sauce). Everything was OK and it was nice not having to wait in A & E and being seen straight away in delivery! Was also having some real trouble sleeping, but it seems to have just been a phase as I am OK again now.

Everything is starting to feel a bit more real now and I am getting more and more excited. I love being pregnant, but am so excited for our baby to arrive too :)

hi everyone hope all is well and everyone who is having a crappy time hope things pick up for you soon thinking of u!

LO is moving loads and am loving watching my tummy move around (24+5). anyone on there 2nd pregnancy plus feel like they are carrying differently? i feel im carrying lower asuming its my tummy muscles which have been stretched once allready!
had a hospital appointment for this optimum trial a couple of weeks ago (due to DS being born at 34 weeks) i was 99.9% chance of not having this baby in the next 2 weeks which has turned out correct so thats good, but 80% chance i will go on to 37 weeks, find it a little reassuring but im not as hopeful as i thought i would be. if i got to 37 weeks i would be extatic but i still feel really caucious and i no im going to be a nervous reck coming up to 34 weeks and thankful for everyday i go past there!

also trying to look for a place to live is taking its tole have moved areas so are staying with my DPs and its so stressful especially just wanting to be ready if LO does show up early!

i kinda know how you feel about DPs working away and not knowing if they will be there in time my DP is a musician and travels up and down the uk so he could be anywhere when i go into labour and the added worry that it could be anytime doesnt help but luckily his band leader has said he will make sure they get cover and if he needs to get back they will bring him.

DP hasnt seemed as bothered this time about LO moving but that is to be expected i guess, he enjoys feeling it move and watching it move but used to sit there for hours with DS and do it, but im enjoying it just as much as last time!

sorry if a bit of a shitty post but not posted on here for ages and not many other people to talk to who would understand!

thinking of u all xxx

Dozeyland · 13/02/2012 20:15

Iowemum I am feeling a bit lower too, but also putting it down to difference in tummy muscles. My tummy went straight back to flat after DD, but i felt that my muslces were a little flack. maybe this is why its lower..

Trying to figure out LO's position at the mo, I think its laying straight across most of the time, but sometimes (like now) it feels like its head or something bigger than limbs is burrowing into my lower left side? :s

baby is very active, braxton hicks are very strong already and frequent. :)

26 weeks today.

hippieshake · 13/02/2012 21:38

I noticed what felt like a large egg in my stomach last night just as I was dozing off. In my sleepy state I pressed on it lightly, only for it to disappear and then kick me on the other side! Ooops! I didn't know I'd be able to feel her under my skin already (only 24+3).

Got my MW appointment tomorrow, can't wait to hear the heartbeat again. DH is coming this time, but then he's off on a course with work so I'm spending Valentines evening on my own with a nice meal, some chocolate and a girly film.

Anyone else got any plans? x

Dozeyland · 13/02/2012 21:54

I will be sat watching 'prisoners wives' - the irony.. Hmm sighs........

and eating spag bol for one, then bed!

that time calls now actually.......... Snooze

G'night All x

karatekimmi · 13/02/2012 21:57

I am having a gestational diabetes test tomorrow, followed by a midwife appointment! How romantic! As I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything other than water till my appointment at 9, (how will I cope without a mug of tea?!?) and as DH is NOT a morning person, I am expecting a big falling out!!! Spent hours trying to phoning up trying to find where to go, only to find out at 3o clock that the hospital switchboard had changed all the numbers!!! Hope no one had an emergency today!!!

We're not doing anything, saving money for maternity leave, but I'm not really bothered!!

My godson was very early so like others I am thankful there is now at least a chance of survival and have already packed a hospital bag, just in case!!! I am not planning on using it, but you never know!

Happy valentines everyone

hippieshake · 14/02/2012 09:48

karate I've got a GTT on Thursday. I'm not looking forward to sitting in the hospital for hours on my own!! I quite like how on my letter it says I can't leave until I eat a sandwich, by that point I'll be ravenous!!! :)

Happy Valentines day xxx

SirCharles · 14/02/2012 12:44

karate and hippie I hope your tests went ok. what does it entail?
does everyone have this diabetes test? I only ask as I am seeing the dr for the first time since coming out to SA and I dont know how their system works. As both my parents are diabetic I want to ensure no tests fall through any gaps between the UK and SA system.

btw hippie - lol at your kicking stomach egg!! Mine does not do too much at the moment but I had a BMI of 30 at the start so perhaps that makes a difference. B has no set pattern yet but certainly likes to kick the mattress of my bed just as I am about to fall asleep every few days!

sounds like the early DD on the other May thread is doing ok. fingers crossed for them. It was PE which caused the docs to whip her out early but it was the lady herself who trusted her instincts and caused enough of a fuss to be seen by the doc in the first place. A lesson to all of us to trust our instincts.

We had friends who had twins at 27 weeks and they are now 6, both in normal school and doing well. They have some physical disability but that does not stop them!!

One of my brothers was born at 32 weeks so for me that is a big milestone ahead. We were all prem but he was the most. He is doing fine - played sport at junior international level and is now a doctor. He was working in the SCBU recently and used his own story as a beacon of hope to parents of a LO born at 32 weeks.

Fingers crossed we can all keep our legs crossed for as long as possible with no dramas.

alwaysanauntie · 14/02/2012 13:18

Happy Valentine's everyone, especially those who can't be with their DPs tonight, whatever the reason. Big hugs xxx

hippieshake ha ha, can totally relate, I had a sore lump in my side this morning, & just as I'm gingerly pressing it to figure out if it's a hernia or pulled muscle (not that Im a hypochondriac or anything...) It suddenly moved & I realised it was just the abusive one within! Having had a couple of very quiet days at the end of last week she's obviously put on some muscle and is now giving hefty kicks & punches & making me feel a bit queasy by doing somersaults :o

Good luck with the tests karate & hippieshake I'd be ready to deck someone and/or chew their arm off if I couldn't eat all morning, poor you!

VeronicaSpeedwell · 14/02/2012 13:49

Grin at "the abusive one within" auntie! My baby is also up to some funny tricks -- this morning I had a really lop-sided bump, like a slanted roof. I do wonder what is going on in there. Why is one side so much more desirable than the other? Mysteries!

It's ages since I caught up on here, but thanks to those who (way back) cheered me up about clothes misery. It's a bit better now I'm more clearly pregnant.

SirCharles, your brother sounds lovely. It must be quite something for anxious parents on SCBU to know that he was once there himself.

Good luck to karate and hippie with the GTTs. I am just doing the one you do with the MW, for which I must drink 273ml of Lucozade. No idea how to measure that so precisely -- time to befriend someone who works in a lab perhaps!

AlexTasha · 14/02/2012 17:23

Happy valentines day everyone. I had a baby-brain moment this morning when I put a casserole in the slow cooker, completely forgetting about dinner reservations that DP had made for us tonight. Oops. How un-romantic of me. I think DP was slightly relieved to be honest!

I managed to get a free bacon sandwich this morning though! I went to get a muffin and a danish at a shop this morning and the guy behind the counter asked 'does the baby eat bacon?' I was completely stumped as no random member of the public has commented on my bump before and it took a second to sink in! When I said yes, he gave me a free bacon roll too! The joys of being pregnant! Woooo.

Interested to hear about the diabetes tests karate and hippie, why do you need them?

hippieshake · 14/02/2012 18:26

Hello, had a good MW appointment today. Heartbeat was 150 bpm, my 'bump' measures 24cm when I'm lay down. She was kicking at the MW a lot, I've got a wriggler! Not got my diabetes test until Thursday, how was yours karate ?

I have to have mine because I have PCOS and that seemingly puts me at a higher risk of developing it.

Dozeyland · 14/02/2012 20:14

Having strong braxton hicks every ten mins tonight, they wernt like this until 34week+ with DD! all good uterus practice i guess.. Not painful or uncomfy, just a strong feeling.

26+1 today, Went to the drs in a panic this am, as I felt a lump down there Blush outside.... she said nothing to worry about, just more than likely pressure from baby. head is lower left i believe.

Just going to put on the hear monitor to see what rate it is...

did a weight check today too, 66.3kgs/about 10st6.

starting weight was 9st5 i think. will double check...

not sure if i'll need a GDT?

hippieshake · 14/02/2012 20:53

Hey Dozey I think I've put about 12-13lbs on at 24+4, so you putting 15lbs on at 26 sounds about right. I'm kind of worried about losing it when the baby is born though. I'm so used to being tiny!

Your MW should refer you for the test if you need one, at least that's what mine did.

How's your DD doing? x

hippieshake · 14/02/2012 21:22

Also found out today at my MW appointment that I'm Rhesus negative. I'm a bit upset that no one mentioned this to me in the three appointments I've had since my booking in, nor did my MW explain it to me today. I've just had to google it. x

karatekimmi · 14/02/2012 21:32

I think I had to have it as my bmi is high (35) But also if there is any diabetes in the family. The nurse has managed to badly bruise both arms taking blood, but I don't get the results till tomorrow.

I am sure that all these appointments are necessary and I'm just lucky to have had no problems so far, but they seem such a waste of time. I have yet to see the same person twice, last time I was told that I should only be walking and swimming ( so promptly stopped all my (very slow) running, gym classes and pregnancy yoga DVD as medical advice and all that). I am very very very scared/nervous about giving birth (bit of a control freak) and keeping active and fit was the only thing that I had control over, so my mental/emotional state has been not great. Only for today's midwife to say that exercise is fine as long as your sensible and don't take up new activities.

Moan over,, looking at nurseries tomorrow! The one I wanted is booked up til sept 2013 so going back at Easter might prove difficult!!!

Dozeyland · 14/02/2012 22:03

Hippie Me too i am small anyway, and lost more when breastfeeding DD...
Hopefully my body will do it for a second time! high metabolism too...

surreal, DC is moving on my belly button, it looks crazy, and respinding to my voice too, i remember this with DD :)

She's doing well thanks, loves seeing her Daddy each week, and she's just a gem, coping so well. and we're keeping active with daily playgroups. Messy play tomorrow so she'll love that . thanks for asking :)

Chin up about the Rhe neg, a few people I know had that. no worries x

PreciousPuddleduck · 14/02/2012 22:05

Karatekimmi, September 2013 is unbelievable!!! Where do you live?? Have you considered a chil minder??

karatekimmi · 15/02/2012 06:20

puddleduck I know, I was a bit gobsmacked when I found out, but it's the nursery at school where I work, we are meeting childminders too, but it obviously got me thinking about returning to work and who will have the baby!

alwaysanauntie · 15/02/2012 11:16

Wow karate, I thought I was being a bit over the top looking at nurseries on the internet now, but your comment has spurred me into action! Have booked a meeting with my manager to discuss how many days a week I have to work when I return (48 days of holiday to use next year, so needs advanced planning!) and am going to book nursery visit today so I can hand in an enrollment form & get on the waiting list... Things are starting to get scarily real :o

VeronicaSpeedwell · 15/02/2012 11:18

It's a similar story with nursery places here -- friends warned me, so baby has been on the list for about 6 weeks already, but I don't know anyone who's got in before about 16mo! Arrgh!

And yes, things are definitely scarily real! Grin

SirCharles · 15/02/2012 12:34

OMG at the nursery discussion. where are you based? am wondering what chance I have when we dont even know where we will be in 8 weeks time let alone 12 months time!!!!

alwaysanauntie · 15/02/2012 16:50

sircharles I'm in Reading, but I'm limited by where I live & work as I get the train into the office and don't want to have to drive to nursery before/after work & risk getting stuck in traffic (can often take over an hour to go 1-2 miles). Plus a lot of the local nurseries have funny opening time eg: not open tues or Friday afternoons & I'm going back to work full time. I think you'll have more choice anywhere you move to in London so try not to worry!

Wommer · 16/02/2012 10:05

How's everyone's pelvic floors? More toned than ever?

Just had my reminder pop up on my pc Smile

Xx

AlexTasha · 16/02/2012 10:50

Hahaha. I always forget to do pelvic floor excersizes! Eeeeek. Apparently squats are good for your pelvic floor too (but maybe not as easy to do in an office!). Thanks for the reminder wommer! :)
