Hi all

Sorry no update from me, what with redundancy and moving house, it's all been a little stressful. But am managing to stay calm. I hope you are lookin after yourself too Dozey. It sounds like there's a little light at the end of the tunnel. Did they say how long they'd been together if it wasn't 12 years?

Also need to register with a GP and sort out 16 week appointment. I spoke to the midwives today who seemed very helpful, so hopefully this will be fairly straightforward.

I hope I get to the hear the heartbeat. Despite my little bump and being hungry most of the time, I'm still finding it hard to believe that there's something growing in there!

Happy birthday karate and congratulations on the gender scan alex.

Hey all, a new joiner to the thread, I'm 17+3 today, officially due in May but likely to go before as it's twins!

SirCharles, if you're still looking for a maternity dress Topshop had a black woolen one that looked OK on me, size 14ish - knee length, 3/4 sleeve, highish neck, quite tailored - not exactly sure if it would be dressy enough for black tie, but maybe with some sparkly jewellery...

VeronicaSpeedwell · 08/12/2011 11:31

I got DH to come in with me to my 16 week appointment yesterday, it was lovely. Really nice MW (she should be my regular one, but was away before). She asked if we wanted to try and hear the heartbeat, and found it booming away straight away. It was magic Grin. 16 weeks today!

BlueCrane · 08/12/2011 14:23

Welcome buonasera and congrats on the twins!! Are these your first DC's?

Great news veronica Xmas Smile My DH was going to come to my 16w app next Thursday but has had to swap his shifts around so won't be able to make it now...which means although I really want to hear the HB I also don't want him to miss it IYSWIM?

crackers hope the move hasn't been too tiring and stressful, can't imagine trying to pack up and move a house at the moment Although I do have a mini bump now I too am quite struggling to think of there actually being a mini-person in there Xmas Shock DH keeps saying with an awed look on his face 'you're actually showing now aren't you' which is quite cute!!

Right...must try and do some more work though I would love a nap right now as just so so tired...

Dozeyland · 08/12/2011 15:15

16+3 and pregnancy-wise i feel fine. no symptoms (same with DD) havent put on weight though but i am eating. maybe just need to eat more especially with all of the stress going on...

Had my 16 week check and the next MW check isnt until 28 weeks!? (as it's my second) seems ages away...

But have a scan on 7th Jan, and consultant appt on 12th (just to make sure I can go on MW-led unit again as I had 2pint blood loss(which i think wouldnt have happened as bad if i had the "placenta jab" which i did get given..) and also small frame/big baby/fast delivery contributed.

but MW is happy for me to go on MW-led again just need to be checked over. i hope i can. i felt more at ease not being in the presence of NEEDLES galore.

hippieshake · 08/12/2011 18:21

I need a moan about work.

I feel like I'm being picked on a bit because I'm pregnant. I was a supervisor before I found out that I was having a baby. I got terrible MS and had 3 weeks off due to Doctors orders. My boss has 'misplaced' my sick note, and now I'm not getting sick pay. When I went back into work I decided to step back from supervisor duties because I didn't need the stress.

I wasn't paid more per hour for being a supervisor, however I was on 44p more an hour than regular staff, which I was told when I signed my contract was because I work closely with head office about campaigns that we do.

In my last pay slip I was back down to minimum wage. I queried this, and they said that because I'd stepped down from being a supervisor I obviously didn't want to progress in the company and they only pay the extra to people who do. It doesn't say that anywhere in my contract, I got no warning about it, I just received less pay. I only steped down due to being pregnant, how do they know I don't want to progress after Maternity leave?

Then my manager and trainee manager keep asking me for proof that I'm pregnant. I told them I wont get my MATB1 form yet. They were like 'well can we phone your Dr'. Why would I make up being pregnant?

Then to top it off. I have a virus at the moment, and obviously feel like shit. I took Tuesday off work, only after finding cover for my shift. If I couldn't have found the cover, I was going to go in. I got told off today for being off sick, and warned that I couldn't be sick again before Christmas. I then had the patronising, 'is it all getting a bit too much for you? Because we can lower your contract if it is.'

I feel completely shit all over. Head office are just as bad, so there is no one I can complain to. If I didn't need my maternity pay (which is only going to end up being around £430 a month anyway) I would be leaving right now.

Rant over :(

buonasera · 08/12/2011 18:55

Oh hippie that's rubbish! Do you have a union?

blue, if they make it, these two will be the first of mine to do so... I've had recurrent miscarriage. I'm going to have to get a smoother answer for that aren't I?

hippieshake · 08/12/2011 19:24

Nope, no union unfortunately. I just have to keep reminding myself that I'll be leaving in a few months and I wont be going back!! It doesn't make going in any easier though.

Awh two babies, that's so lovely. You must be so happy :)

AlexTasha · 08/12/2011 20:42

My DP came with me too, he is coming too all my appointments though. His work are really flexible when it comes to this stuff. He also gets full paid paternity which is nice considering my work are stingy bastards and will only give me statutory. Better than nothing though I guess! Going through mass redundancies so might even get made redundant before my maternity, but think they might be a bit cautious to do that now Im pregnant! Can't wait to see the midwife again next week :)

bitbot · 09/12/2011 16:40

Hi All

Not checked in for a while. Had 4D scan last week and found out we were having a little girl, so excited! went straight out buying pink! 4d scan was amazing, could see her in so much detail. Hope everyone else is ok ;-) x

bigboobsatlast · 09/12/2011 18:16

buonasera!! I am having twins as well! do you know if yours are ID?

buonasera · 09/12/2011 18:40

bb,cool! We'll be on exactly the same schedule then.
Mine are not ID - I did IVF so knew that for sure straight away. What about you?

Do you look like you're about 6 months gone? I do. It's amazing! I went shopping for maternity clothes at 12 weeks and my bump was already the size of the cushion they give you for trying on clothes...

bigboobsatlast · 09/12/2011 18:58

Yes mine are ID. Great to have someone at same stage as me preggers with 2! Lets hope all goes smoothly for both of us. I am 16+1 so just behind you - although already been told I wont be going past 36 weeks Hmm

And yes, huge bump for only 16 weeks - I feel I look like 5 or 6 months preggers. I am so excited about twins, although having moments of sheer panic as well Xmas Smile

How are you feeling? Oh, and of course CONGRATULATIONS!

buonasera · 09/12/2011 19:07

I feel like crap! I'm having my second cold of this pregnancy and I feel like I've been hit by a truck. It got a bit easier after about 13 weeks but I basically sleep all weekend to manage work during the week...

Have you got any other kids?

bigboobsatlast · 09/12/2011 19:11

yes got a DD who will be two in Feb.
I also feel like crap - sickness has gone but constantly knackered. The house is a right state! Xmas Grin
All is good though, just hoping the 'blooming' stage will start soon - before I am too big to move!

AlexTasha · 10/12/2011 17:10

bitbot I had a 4D scan too on Monday and found out we are having a little boy! He was hiding in the placenta so was kinda hard to see but we are going to have another 4D one at about 28 weeks. Its so cool finding out the gender isnt it! We havent bought any clothes yet though.

hippie That is so unbelievably crap about your work, what asses. I guess just be happy that you are leaving, but it still sucks.

buona and bigboobs Eeeek twins! Im a twin so it will be lovely for your kids. Its such a special bond. A lot of hard work though! Although I guess any baby will be hard work! :)

hippieshake · 10/12/2011 17:15

AlexTasha Congrats on the boy!! I can't wait to find out what mine is. I change my mind every day between boy and girl.

Are you going to buy boy things now?x

Dozeyland · 10/12/2011 21:39

Congrats bigboobs ans buonasera, wow twins, We thought we were having twins before the 12week scan. but only one bean in there! am nearly 17weeks...

do you both have twins in your family? wow identical twins, that'll be so much fun! hard work but fun.

I think im getting a bump, didnt really show until 7months ish with DD..

we're leaving the gender a surprise, anyone else?

lobba · 11/12/2011 09:30

I've definitely got a bump - I think I've lost weight around the sides so its more obvious!
We're not planning on finding out the gender either.
I've got an appointment with a consultant tomorrow and I'm getting quite nervous - I had major spinal surgery when I was younger so I'm worried what they'll say about my birthing options.
On the plus side I only have 5 more days at work than I'm off for two and a half weeks- bliss!

BlueCrane · 11/12/2011 09:53

Morning all!! Congrats on the good scans etc alextasha and bitbot and on the twins bigboobs and buonasera Xmas Grin to you all!!

dozey and lobba we're also going to leave the gender as a suprise, I'm sticking with neutral decorations all the way and asking all the knitters to stick with whites, creams, mocha colours etc. I may get one pinkish and one bluish suit to take to the hospital so that I can use the 'appropriate' one on the day IYSWIM but it will be nice to have the suprise after all that pushing!!

lobba my friend had technically 'broken' her back when she was in her late teens but is still able to walk etc...she did have bad back pains during both her pregnancies and was allowed to have a natural birth. Although ended up with Emergency CS but that was (I think) more due to baby being huge and getting stuck than to do with her back. She then had ELC for her second. Hope all ok with the Consultant.

SO so glad we're not too far from the Christmas break now...I still have 10 days at work but then 11 days straight when I am off except that DH will be working on and off throughout that period as he can't take the time off Sad

Feeling v pleased as think I may have got nursery curtains sorted yesterday - found some reduced in Sainsbury's which when scanned came up as just £6!! They're just a plain gingham check with tie backs but I'm going to add some detail to them myself which will be a fun Christmas activity!

Now off to finish wrapping presents and then we have a Carol Concert this afternoon which should get me in the mood for all things festive Xmas Smile

Hope you all have a good day...

alwaysanauntie · 11/12/2011 10:57

Right, actually have some time to post now. Hope everyone's feeling ok this weekend, I managed to get most of my xmas shopping done yesterday and am hoping to wrap stuff today just to get it out of the way. Looking forward to christmas (having it at mum & dad's with my 2 DSis and their DHs plus 5 kids, 2 bumps and a dog) so a full house!

Am now 17+5 and have definitely got much bigger this week, I still weigh the same as I did before I was PG but have noticeable bump, now in mat clothes most days as well, got fed up of trying to squeeze into normal clothes, just looked a bit wrong on me when I tried stuff 1-2 dress sizes bigger. Also have found if I eat too much I'm getting close to nasty heartburn territory, made a pig of myself yesterday and paid for it!

Most exciting news is that I had a very definite kick last night! Was watching TV and it was like someone poking me from the inside, made me jump! Grin I have had a lot of weird fluttery feelings the last couple of days though, so baby's muscles must be getting stronger. Big relief as I still can't quite believe this is really happening - I think I'm going to get a shock come May...

Really good to hear about everyone's scans and another pair of twins for our group, I'd like to get a 4D one but DH thinks it'll be a waste of money Shock, how dare he! Still, only 3 weeks til next one at hospital, so I guess I can wait. I think I've got a girl in there (just a hunch). Are we going to add gender to the list if we find out?

Finally a Biscuit for everyone as it's coffee time and Sunday! xx
