Righto ladies; I have been swept - for anyone who's never had that particular pleasure it's not nearly as bad as people say it is, definitely didn't hurt although I suspect it might if one were not actually heading in the right direction for it to work iykwim.

Thankfully I was, as cervix was proddable and slightly open - so I asked her to go ahead and serve Owlet with the eviction papers whilst she was up there Grin . Am now getting some interesting crampy feelings but suspect they will come to nothing. We shall see! It was rather cool actually as she could feel his head. It kind of made him more real somehow.

cep · 04/08/2011 14:21

nix congratulations, so so pleased for you.

wiw glad suki's op went well.

scooby welcome

owl good luck hope sweep works.

Blackkat · 04/08/2011 14:30

Owl good to hear the sweep wasn't so bad, really hope the cramps lead somewhere soon and owlet doesn't keep you waiting too long. I've been suspecting for a long time that you must be a writer or journalist, and if you're not you should be, your posts always make me LOL what with your way with words. Good luck with it all ((hugs))

PrettyVacant1 · 04/08/2011 14:33

Pmsl Owl "whilst she was up there" Grin
Hope he gets the hint gets moving.
Ooops, mowbli dying.....

harassedandherbug · 04/08/2011 14:33

Doo!!! Fabulous news! Congratulations lovely Grin.

Owl that sounds like a great sweep tbh, you must be pretty much ready. I think it's more painful/uncomfortable if your cervix isn't getting ready. Off you go with dancing round the kitchen now Grin.

cep how are you??

I've got next to nothing done today, I'm still too excited after Tuesday's scan! I've look at buggy's (still no decision), been give a blue grobag and arranged a night out......

I went out last night too, with the girls from preg yoga. It closes over the holidays, so we went to a pub in town instead. They must have wondered what was going on when 10 obviously preg ladies turned up! We sat outside and discussed childbirth at the tops of our voices.... Grin.

Daisybell1 · 04/08/2011 15:06

Hello all again!

Thank you for the lovely shiny new fred Dachs and Bigmac

Orange wasn't me guv re posting the link - I think I looked at it and went "oh god, I'm too fat, must eat cake to cheer up". I piled the pounds on initially but have stayed nearly the same weight since about 24 weeks - Daisybean is acting like a proper parasite and taking it from me. My hips have got narrower as well since she popped forward.

Pink no pork pies here, can barely eat due to missy's bum being in my stomach. Chucked up my breakfast this morning as she wriggled at the wrong time Sad

Grin at Owl's dancing - clothed this time? Wink

also Grin at Velvet's cake habit

Collie chiro sounds lovely, must give that a go, although reflexology sounds nice too - my poor feet are really struggling at the moment.

WIW that's great news re Suki, she's getting there, that's what matters, and she'll learn to walk on the cast I'm sure, they're so capable.

Fab scan news Scoob am really chuffed for you

Blackkat yes you remember right, we're (planning on) going for Philippa, to be known as Pip. The back story is: when we needed a name for the new sheepdog pup last year, we went through that list and wanted to call her Pip, but it was too similar to our other dog's name. So OH said, well, if we have a daughter, we could call her Pip instead. So Pip/Philippa it is. So long as the Daily Mail don't run any more stories of it being the new chav name of 2011 Confused

2 hours to go, 2 hours to go

PrettyVacant1 · 04/08/2011 15:12

Hi, got craptop now.

Velvet yeah it is good knowing the date, still not organised or mentally prepped yet though. Grin
A few Peeps want a surprise so I'm not spilling the date. GrinSmile

Womble sorry as an oldie noobie I'm not sure what Suki is but I'm glad to hear that the op went well and she too is well, that must have been horrible for you.
I have an old(ish) cat that won't know what's hit him soon, I really hope he hangs around for a bit longer.
He's my first baby Blush

Dooscooby fab news about your scan! The next 20 weeks will fly.

Collie I've come to terms with the section now so not really that bothered, I've been through quite a bit to get this baby so I'm now at the point where I'm thinking I don't care how I get it I just want it. Smile

PinkFondantFancy · 04/08/2011 16:44

owl glad things went well - fingers crossed owlet gets the hint now :)

WIW great news that Suki's op went well, fingers crossed she recovers well.

daisy boo for puking, hurray for bums up high though.

harrassed it's lovely you're part of such a sociable group! I've got my first NCT class tonight and I'm really hoping I'll meet some nice people so I don't have to watch Jeremy Kyle by myself all day for the next few months! I'm also starting pregnancy yoga again tomorrow lunchtime which I'm really looking forward to.

PinkFondantFancy · 04/08/2011 16:46

Oh also, thanks for the advice around the birthing ball. I found this video in case anyone finds it useful.

My ball is huuage as it's 75cm (the 65 was too small) but I"m thinking it's actually a bit big - it's a bit scary being all the way up there! I have to wedge it into the corner of the room as my balance isn't what it used to be - there was an embarrassing incident the other day where I fell over waiting at the traffic lights because I'd bent over to scratch my ankle..... Blush Grin

bigmacandhappymeal · 04/08/2011 17:24

scooby congratulations and welcome! So good to hear more brilliant scan news.

owl - hurrah for a positive sweep story and hope the dancing helps! Also liked the 'while she was up there' - two birds, one stone and all that!

Thanks for the birthing ball link pink. How tall are you? I was thinking that I would get a 65cm but am 5'11" so now fear it would be too small.

Need to ask a potentially daft question. The happymeal feels as though he/she is sitting really low and there is a pressure feeling with occasional twinge which is kind of on my pubic bone but a bit on my cervix as well. I'm also getting kicked /punched near my belly button so I'm assuming all is OK, but this pressure feels weird. It's OK, right? It is making me feel like I want to pick up my bump and heave it upwards a bit. Anyone else getting this? I'm assuming that it's the wee one growing but also keep fretting like a crazy lady giving it casual consideration every now and again.

harassed your group sounds really lovely

Suki got vetoed last night - MrBigMac has taken against True Blood and he said it would make him think of Bill gurning 'Sookie' all the time. Humph.

OP posts:
PinkFondantFancy · 04/08/2011 17:31

scooby I'm so rude-congratulations on a good scan and welcome!!

bigmac I'm 5'9" so would say you'll definitely need a 75cm ball. Sorry no advice on the weird pressure thing except I know at my 20 week scan mini pink was scrunched up sleeping in a little ball in my pelvis so maybe it's that? Have you got a MW appt coming up? Otherwise maybe give your DAU a call and have a chat to see what they think?

Reaaaaaly want a sleep but have got builders round doing some bits around the house so can't! Booooo!

PinkFondantFancy · 04/08/2011 17:32

Oh and daisy there's just no way Pip will become a Chav name so I definitely wouldn't worry on that front-I think it's lovely.

Velvetcu · 04/08/2011 17:50

doo and harassed lovely scan news Grin

owl i hope owlet gets the message that he must make his way out now! How exciting that mw could feel his head :)

mac i am constantly punched and kicked in the cervix (and the bumhole which is not very nice!!) so I know the feeling. miniV faces downwards most of the time so I guess it's normal.

pmsl @ pink falling over whilst scratching, I keep bashing my bump (sounds rude) with toilet cubicle doors!

wombatinwaiting · 04/08/2011 17:58

Busy old fred today!

Very excited for owl and owlet - I guess it's really any hour / day now - very best of luck m'dear.

Thanks so much for all your kind wishes with Suki. Pretty - she's our daft but hugely loveable pooch.

Huge welcome to scooby and fab news for a great scan. I think you are firmly wedged here now with the stapling and super-glueing!

Daisybell1 · 04/08/2011 18:10

So sorry Owl to have missed your post but great news on the sweepage and serving of eviction papers

mamapower · 04/08/2011 19:24

Preeeeeeety pmsl at your comment 'not a scooby how that happened', unless you is the virgin Mary my love we all know how that happened Grin Grin Grin

Thanks for new thread mac

waves to all

mrsb33 · 04/08/2011 20:09

Hello ladies, hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread uninvited but I have a quick question, to try and put my mind at ease really. I had a miscarriage mmc at 13wks in sept last year. Now neally 12 months on and actively ttcing like mad since with no hint of a bfp, first initial blood tests come back to say I'm ovulating and have regular period and am 33. My question is obviously u ladies have all been through a miscarriage how long did it take to get your first bfp? And did u do anything different?

Thanks in advance xx

UrbanLolly · 04/08/2011 20:15

Doh!! Had posted on old threadConfused

Delighted to hear your wonderful news nix.....GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin love the name....enjoy all those lovely snuggles

Owl sounds promising!!!! And she could actualy feel the baby's head.... Totally amazing..... Good luck

O pink was it u asking about books? Well the one book which I would go back too is "the baby whisper'er" (think that's right). Nice balance between trying to get a routine and letting your baby lead things..

Things going well here dd was up to 9lb 2oz on tue! Hardly surprising since I was pinned to sofa all weekend (12day growth spurt) Grin loving every second... But totally forgotten about the number of nappies holy smoke!!! Make sure you have tons of cotton wool hahaha

Can't wait 4 more good news...

Extra special thoughts for Dachs everything crossed for you xx

Waves to everyone.....& returns to lurking

PinkFondantFancy · 05/08/2011 07:12

Hi mrsb sorry to hear about your loss :( I'd say the only thing I did differently was to use a ClearBlue Fertility Monitor to try and time the SWI, as I think for months DH and I were focussing too early in the month.... The other thing that I did was to go to the ARGC in London to get them to run a complete suite of tests that everything was ok with me e.g. mid cycle scan to make sure I was actually ovulating, blood tests to check thyroid etc. and also a sperm check on DH. I got the BFP that I miscarried within a couple of months, and then it took about 7 months to get the next BFP. There's a massive amount of variation between the women on this thread though in terms of how long the BFP took to come

I really hope you get your BFP v. v. soon, I know how frustrating it is waiting for it to arrive.

Hope everyone's doing ok today!

Daisybell1 · 05/08/2011 08:15

Morning all

Will pop back later for a proper catch-up - have got MW appointment with blood tests/anti-D and am also fasting for a diabetes test. Am hungry Angry so OH is keeping well out of my way Grin

MrsB I'm also really sorry for your loss. As an alternative to Pink I used a Persona monitor to track my ovulation and found I ovulate very early despite having a standard 28 day cycle. If we'd relied on the SWI on days 13/14 standard advice, we'd have been missing it for months. As Pink says, it may be worth trying to track your OV time.

Good luck!

Hello all!

Sorry for limited posts recently. I am lurking!!!

Still no Internet in the new house so I'm posting this from new iPhone but I haven't quite mastered that yet so typing v slow!!!

Congrats to nix on baby corey!!! Hope you are enjoying getting to know him. How has ds1 reacted to his little brother?? GrinGrin

Fab news on scans etc

wiw glad suki is doing better.

dachs good luck for the next scan I've got everything crossed for good follie growth.

Brian here in full force and can't remember others' news... collie was it your chiro? Sounds good. And owl any post-sweep news to report??

All ok here. Massively uncomfy but hoping that's normal. Started mat leave early so am now home (alone .... Very odd!) am hoping I'll settle into it soon.

Xxx

bigmacandhappymeal · 05/08/2011 09:10

...

Hi MrsB33 like the others I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. Everyone is different so it's quite hard to say but in my case I MC in Jan at 9 weeks. We'd been trying for three months and this was our first attempt to get a BFP. We then started trying again after my first period post MC. I was incredibly lucky and got my BFP in March. I didn't use any monitors but would have started if it hadn't happened for a while. In my case I was 34 when I got this BFP, had very regular cycles and was born and raised in Essex so wonder if this had any bearing Wink. The only thing we did different was do the deed much more often. I wish you all the very best and hope that we see you on here very soon with a BFP.

Thanks re the ball info pink. I've got a MW appt next week so I'll ask her about it then as I think I am just worrying for no good reason.

velvet you have made me laugh out loud and feel better. I too have been kicked in the bumhole (even typing it makes me titter) and tried to explain to MrBigMac what it's like but he couldn't get it.

Friday - TFFT. Handed in my matb1 form yesterday - all being well 11/11/11 will be my last day in the office...

Hi wombat - welcome to ML!

OP posts:
owlbooty · 05/08/2011 09:22

Naw, daisy , still just cramps and branstons and nowt exciting. Do feel a bit sicky though. I wonder if that's a good sign or just that Owlet is kicking my muesli back up again?

MrsB Hello and welcome :) I took 6/7 months to get the bfp after the mc and had resorted to a clearblue fertility monitor (aka the Evil Shag Dictator) because, like others, I suspected I was not ovulating on day 14 as all the bloody books say, despite also having a 28 day cycle although it sounds like you may have already been down this avenue of enquiry? Turns out I was right; it varied from month to month between day 12 and day 17. I'm 35 and a lot of us in here happen to be around the same age if that is any help. Am hoping you soon get your bfp and can join us - good luck, lovely :)

Oooh, and other ridiculous things I did differently:

Tried to find cervix to check status (couldn't find the fecker)
Drank gallons of grapefruit juice
Ate tonnes of brazil nuts (I don't even like brazil nuts)
Forcefed Mr Boots pumpkin seeds
Liberally applied PreSeed (claggy; a bit gross)
Stressed myself completely
Tried to chart BBT (couldn't; due to sleeping with gob open)
Stuck feet up on headboard after the shaggage (classy)
Peed on a bazillion OPKs
Peed on a bazillion cheapie HPTs (including several times when period had actually started, just to check it wasn't an implantation bleed - how barking mad is that?)
Had a lot of dreadful 'oh god do we have to do this now I'm exhausted' bleary-eyed duty-shags at about 7am. One of which resulted in the bfp. How romantic.

First time round I just went on honeymoon and had fun. Post-mc TTC makes you mental; there is no question about it. I believe it may have been Nix that was grinding up WellMan supplements and using them as sprinkles for Hubby's dinner? Grin

Wombat Two words: internet shopping. Grin
