Morning all, so much to catch up on!

WIW I'm so sorry to hear about Suki, I know how much of a hole she will leave, am thinking of you lots

And Dachs have still got everything crossed for you and Thursday morning. Plenty more fat lambs to sacrifice here so will round up another bunch Grin. Am sending the little eggies 'grow' vibes too, and will start threatening them if they don't!

Hello to new people - welcome to chaos the home of sanity and rationality Grin

CollieandPup · 09/08/2011 10:49

Morning lovely ladies.

dachs i am sorrt there wasn't as many as you had hoped. 3 is obviously alot less than 9, but as you've said there is still a chance. You only need one of them to do its thing. Good luck for Thursday, i am sure the wait will feel long but i hope it goes quickly. No sheep sacrificing here but my cats have brought me home 3 dead mice since saturday, which i think they'd agree are in honour of your cause.

harassedandherbug · 09/08/2011 11:18

Morning!

Dachs think positive..... I'm sure it must feel disappointing, but like others have said, it only takes one. Have my fingers x'd for you x

Collie hope you're feeling better. When my friend came home from hospital I found it was actually as bad as I thought to hold and fuss her baby tbh. Re: post-chiro pain, that's entirely normal. Basically your muscles clench around bits that are in the wrong position to support it, so when you're straightened up they have to re-adjust. At least that's how I understand it! I was in agony after my --useless- physio appointment on Thursday.

Lara you're sounding more perky! Despite being kept awake. I'm glad things are a bit calmer and it's great that dh got to feel a kick. Seems to make everything better that kind of thing.

Daisy what on earth have you been doing to trash so many electrical goods???!!

Bigmac how are you feeling today?

Owl any news?? Google downward facing dog. I promise it's not rude!! It's a yoga position and our yoga teacher who's a mw suggests it. It's actually quite comfy.

Nothing to report here. Had a crap day yesterday work-wise, followed by a crap evening!!! Dh isn't popular for telling me wasn't training, then deciding he was without letting me know. He literally came in from work, went out again and didn't get in until 9..... I can't remember the last time we had a whole evening together. The one night he def takes off is for me to go out and I'm not giving up my one evening off!!!

CollieandPup · 09/08/2011 11:48

Question for ladies who are perhaps later on, or have had dc already....

When have you / do you plan to fit your car seat into the car (thinking those with isofix)?

Clearly this is not really something i need to be worrying about but it crossed my mind the other day and is bugging me. Do you fit the base a week or so before your DD so that its in, in preperation for bumps arrival - but then of course tempt the jinx pixies. Or do you wait until after its born, but then run the risk of being stuck at the hospital wanting to come home while DH fumbles in a panic tries to fit the base and is potentially unsucesssful (knowing how useless they can be when something needs to be done NOW).

As i said..... not really something i need to worry about yet, just annoying me!

harassedandherbug · 09/08/2011 12:09

Whether you decide to fix it permanently, make sure you have a trial run!

Dh turned up at hospital to pick me and dd up (his 2nd, my 3rd!) and we hadn't practised! Thank goodness it was the middle of the summer as we were there for 5 mins with the instructions Grin.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/08/2011 12:20

It isn't something I have to worry about collie as we don't drive/own a car and we have a car seat that fixes with just a seatbelt. But, if it were me I'd fix the base in the last week. I couldn't be doing with the waiting for DH to fix it in scenario at hospital. I don't have too many patience when it comes to things like that.

But obviously I don't have actual experience of this so someone else might think otherwise Grin

dachs sorry there weren't as many as you'd hoped but as others have said it only takes one. And as for sacrificial slaughter... I am cat/duck/guinea pig sitting for my holidaying neighbours and their cats have left me dead birds two days running so they must want to contribute too :) And believe me a dead bird is much better than a live one. Apologies to bird lovers, but I hate the buggers.

harrassed Sorry you aren't getting much time with DH. And you are one brave lady being with a boxer! Although must feel very safe and secure :)

cep I have a cold coming too. How miserable. Fingers crossed it's just hay fever or something. Hope you all feel better soon.

lara Glad things feel a bit more positive and DH felt a kick :) But yikes about you being so close to these riots. I have to say I haven't been watching the news but I expect it must be pretty scary. Im a suburb gal so no idea what it must be like to be that close to it all.

Waves to everyone else.

Not much to report here. Just tired, grumpy and hot. Lots of kicks, feet in ribs now.

Is it too much to ask to just be able to bend myself in half again!? I seem to have constant back ache, and the inside of my thighs are beginning to hurt when I'm in bed. :(

harassedandherbug · 09/08/2011 12:40

Cep and coconuts I can't tell if I have a cold or hayfever!! I'm convinced I've become allergic to my cat, then convinced myself I was nuts, but mentioned it to my yoga teacher who's a mw and it's possible to develop allergies in pregnancy. So I'm convinced a lot of it is the cat now. She's banned from the bed, and sulking!

Coconuts "Sorry you aren't getting much time with DH. And you are one brave lady being with a boxer! Although must feel very safe and secure"

That made me giggle! We had teenagers playing knock down ginger the other week, which is even less funny when you live in a 3 storey house and I was ALWAYS at the top...... I don't think they'll be back Wink. Dd still wandering around muttering about "smash your teeth in".... ooops!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 09/08/2011 12:52

Haha!! Grin

Do you know what, my sneezes have only started since I started looking after these cats! How weird.

owlbooty · 09/08/2011 13:10

Afternoon, all :)

Nowt to report from here except I have made 8 pots of summer fruit jam and cleaned the windows. If he's not going to bloody show up on time I'm going to at least get the stuff I was going to do sorted out before he makes it impossible! The constant branstons are a pain in the arse though.

Collie we fitted the car seat base last week (had already had a go at fitting the car seat to the safety belt so knew we could do that). Car seat base makes it obvious that we need a bigger car. Am definitely not going down that route until Owlet turns up as could not possibly test drive anything right now. Definitely worth having it all sorted in advance though as I have seen countless panicking DHs outside the mat unit I used to work in with no effing clue how to fit the car seat and it's not always very obvious either!

Velvetcu · 09/08/2011 15:02

Dachs sorry 3 isnt the number you were hoping for but it is still better than none. I have everything crossed that they'll be nice and viable for Thursday.

Collie I'm in agony this week after my osteopath on Saturday. I find that some sessins are like this - the pain is usually much better after 4-5 days.

Mac sorry your had to spend your dd in such a dramatic way but glad the bleed was nothing.

Daisy how much cleaning are you doing????

Owl I'm impressed with the jam making - it is on my list of things to do when I go on mat leave too.

So I've been out this morning and bought a moses basket and a cot bedding set. Arrgghhhhh tis very very scary seeing it in my house! Midwife said yesterday I do need to start organising stuff since my family have a history of 36 week babies which would mean mine could arrive in 7 weeks. Eeeeeeek!

On the pram discussion - we quite like the Jane Slalom matrix reverse but I never see anyone on the threads talking about Jane prams. Does anyone know anything about them? Am going to google the Oyster now Grin

Velvetcu · 09/08/2011 15:21

Dachs just re-read that and it comes over a little blunt - it wasn't meant to! It was meant to be supportive. Sorry!

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 09/08/2011 15:36

it's ok velvet i won't hold it against you Wink Yay for the baby shopping :)

katherine2008 · 09/08/2011 15:53

Dachs just dropping by to wish you luck - three is my lucky number x

bigmacandhappymeal · 09/08/2011 19:57

Hi all
A mememe post - I'm really struggling today. I think Sunday night is catching up with me, plus stress at work with idiots in my team and my boss, not sleeping that well, vicious heartburn and to cap it all off MrBigMac was told today that his office is closing but that he has a job still - 300 miles away. Shock
I've just been watching the news which was stupid as all this riot stuff is upsetting me (used to live in London and a couple of friends have been really affected by the evil knobheads burning things) and here i am blubbing. MrBigMac is out and I'm trying not to let him know how shaken up this work thing has made me as he is desperate to 'provide' for us both. I'm feeling pathetically sorry for myself!

good news, bumhole stories, cake and any lardy food would be most welcome
x

Owl.. :) hope he makes an entrance soon x

Blackkat · 09/08/2011 21:28

bigmac so sorry to hear about your DD nightmare, and also the bad news about DH's job. Really hope this week picks up for you. (((hugs)))

dachs have everything crossed for you, absolutely everything,

owl thinking of you xx

velvet good news on the purchases...very, very brave. Impressive Smile

collie hormones are allowed, you just sound like a pregnant lady to me Grin

to everyone,

dooscooby · 10/08/2011 10:43

just heard a really loud noise....must have been bigmac's roar! I like that stance, I'm taking a leaf out of your book today bigmac I need to get a thicker skin right now. Perhaps there's something in the air what with you, me and collie shedding tears yesterday (or perhaps it's just hormones?!).

Weird afternoon for us here - everything went crazy as we heard we were the next riot hot spot, so all the shops and businesses quickly boarded up, we got sent home and there were loads of rumours flying around about where the mobs were and what they were doing. I was part really scared and part annoyed that I thought people were being hysterical, then I also had the 'i'm pg and feel doubly vulnerable' thing going on in my head! Anyway, all was fine and today seems relatively normal, but it was a bit stressful.

I saw a friend last night who is quite a bit older than me and a long time ago her and her DH decided they didn't want to have a family. She knows about my m/cs and has been generally sensitive but yesterday she said to me 'you've had a really easy pregnancy'. I nearly choked on my tea as I felt like saying 'how the fuck would you know given I didn't tell you I was pg until 16 wks and I've deliberately not bored you with my various ailments, PLUS do you really think anyone post m/c has an 'easy pregnancy'?!. I mean I know it could have been a lot worse but I wouldn't really say it's been 'easy' up to now!! I also then got the 'you're so tiny you're not even showing' comment, after earlier in the day my work colleague telling me I'm now really big (same outfit was worn all day!). WTF?!

bigmac hope the presso goes ok. velvet well done on the shopping front. dachs assuming you get to know today whether any eggs will get put back tomorrow? Fingers and toes firmly crossed for you x. waves back at blackkat. owl hope there's been some action for you....

owlbooty · 10/08/2011 10:44

No news! Had some v.promising ouchy branstons last night but buggerall has happened since. Meh.

Sorry Maccer I have no bumhole stories Grin Although I might go for a proper hot curry tonight in the hope of kicking things off so tomorrow there may be bumhole stories aplenty. Actually, I will have a sweep tomorrow. Maybe I will save the curry for tomorrow night. Suspect that sweep + rumbling guts is not a winning combo.

DeterminedToGetDiffedDachs · 10/08/2011 10:52

bigmac lol @ goldfish carking! :)

scooby :( for insensitive mate. Hope today is less stressful for you.

The clinic would have called this morning if some of the embies had stopped developing or it looked like there would be nothing to put back tomorrow. They haven't called, so I'm assuming things look ok at the moment. However, they may stop overnight, so they will call me tomorrow to let me know what there is to put back. This leaves me in the unenviable position of having to go into town tomorrow in the hope and expectation that there will be something to put back and then sit around in Paddington Station waiting for a call that might tell me to go home as there is nothing to put back. I'm hoping that there will still be something left though!

owl hope the curry works! am looking forward to hearing owlet news.

Daisybell1 · 10/08/2011 11:09

Did anyone call for a bumhole story?

Not sure I can actually obliged on the bumhole details but I had an ante-natal physio class on Monday night - I swear I was worried that I would go into labour with laughing so much!

The physio's style was direct and very naughty! So the pelvic floor exercises were described with lots of references to Priscilla Queen of the Dessert and the ping pong balls; there were many, many references to sex , piles, fart jokes, the birthing pool sieve, it was all there!

All the dads were mercilessly taken the piss out of too Grin

All in all, it was the best and most useful class I've been to, and certainly the most fun.

Does this help?

PS Dachs the sacrificial lambs have also dropped dead this morning - one of the many specialities of sheep. Think I may need to go back to sacrificing cake instead....

LaraandLittleBean · 10/08/2011 11:24

Collie and BigMac - we are travelling the same journey! I too was so impressed with my "pregnancy management abilities" until my previously documented outbursts a few days back when I couldn't stop crying. DH and I were fighting like cats and dogs and then the culmination of it all was when I burst into tears in front of my conservative, prim and ever so proper GP!!!! Since then however, I have been fine so it absolutely must all be very normal pg hormones. I'd urge you to cry as much as you need to in front of whoever you need to.

Good luck with the presentation today!

As regards the job situation with both of your DHs, I think the added panic is also totally normal. I am feeling particularly vulnerable these days as I won't be working for maternity leave, we'll have a little one totally dependent on us and my earnings will be reduced when I do go back to work. However, do have faith that it will ALL work out... Remember the panic many / most / all of us felt when the recession kicked in? And look - we all got through it and are probably stronger for it. I am sure between us, we have had a zillion unexpected things happen that have thrown our life journeys off-track but we've picked ourselves up. And worrying just means we're extra responsible and therefore ready to be parents!

Dachs - fingers crossed that your trip to town will be a storming success. I know very little about IVF so sorry that I can't offer anything more than lots of support.

Daisy - your class sounds fab... My NCT class was cancelled last night due to its central Brixton location. (I had been dreading it in any case to be fair so it was a welcomed relief)

Doo - whereabouts in London are you? My side of town was all boarded up last night too and I heard a helicopter circling for hours. Joy.

Owl - enjoy that post-sweep curry. You obviously have a super comfy tum.

My sister gave birth last night! Apparently she also had one of those super quick labours cos she stayed home until she will fully dilated and then went in at the last possible moment. She started pushing and then there was panic in the room when two legs emerged! Even though she'd had that manipulation procedure (sorry don't know name of it) the previous day, baby had managed to turn himself back into a breach position in less than 12 hours! She was rushed to emergency and her little boy was delivered before she could even have any pain relief...

Had a huge row with my pain-in-the-arse-mother so going to indulge myself by ordering the nursery interior stuff. Cos that's what we do on working from home days!

ps - when you all say hairy bums, erm, where exactly is the hair?? On your bum cheeks or, erm coming out of your bumhole? I seem to have developed lots coming out of my bumhole (Gawd, might have to chicken out of our London meet). Like the fanjo clipper story too... I thought about that with DH and figured he'd hit the roof. He did kindly shave mine for me the other day with my lady shave thing but I don't think he realises it needs to be manicured as often as he manages his own facial hair and so I fear that was my first and last opportunity.

wombatinwaiting · 10/08/2011 11:47

Hi ladies - hope you are all ok and you and your family/friends are surviving the riots - I can't believe what's happening. I've been pretty shocked, especially as Croydon is my hometown.....

Not much time to post and no bumholes to share either - apologies - wanted to send hugs to bigmac for frightening DD experience, to lara for wobbles with DH and losing independence, to collie for the pg hormones, to doo for your friend's extraordinary comments.

I want to find an antenatal class like yours daisy Grin - what was the best thing you learned for pelvic floor exercises?

Thinking of you lots dachs and hoping madly that the three finalists are all winners - do keep us posted. I have rounded up a couple of desert oryx for sacrifice tonight Grin

Have also been thinking of you lots as well owl - when is that little owlet going to make his/her appearance?! Good news on the serious branstons though. What flavour was the jam and can you leave some for us please?!

Great work on the purchases velvet and let's hope you buck the family tradition of 36-weekers!

Sounds like there's lots going on for you cep - hope you feel better soon.

Went to a new ob/gyn yesterday as I think I mentioned that my original one broke 3 vetebrae and kept having to push back appointments, plus only delivers at the hospital where I had the m/cs. She seemed v nice although a bit mad professor-ish. She's called Gertrude and has loads of bright orange curly hair! However, if she's good, she can look like Ronald McDonald for all I care Grin - got a sneaky scan too and wiwjunior has grown at the rate of knots since the last scan 5 weeks ago. All seems well and dare I say it, I'm almost enjoying this pregnancy

Ooh, one question on glucose tests for those of you who have had them. My original clinic were going to do the glucose tolerance test where you fast for 12 hours, have a blood test, drink lucozade, wait an hour, have another blood test, wait another hour, have another blood test. This new clinic does just a glucose test where you don't fast, drink a huge amount of glucose solution then get one blood test an hour later. What have you ladies had and does anyone know the difference between the two and is one more effective than another? Thanks.

wombatinwaiting · 10/08/2011 11:48

P.S. lara congrats on the arrival of your new nephew! x
