Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

cmm · 07/06/2011 00:12

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

hi ladies, busy day for me , ds1 went for 1st day at secondary school , then DS4's sports day!!.

On sat i had this ripping pain aLong side my belly button & every since i have like a stinging sensation there & when I cough & sneeze it hurts. Belly aching too. Im sure i ruptured something & have a hernia or something now. i had a hernia after DS5 the size of a tennis ball under my BB. oh humph. something else. dont know what to do about it though??? (baby moving fine)

hope u all ok today?????

Coppernoddle · 06/07/2011 09:37

Morning all!! Deo, it sounds like you have another hernia again!! That's poo!! And very painful! I've been having manic days too, why is everything crammed into two weeks at the end of term!! Even appointments!! It's manic! My little one starts school September too! So sad, I loose my afternoon snuggle munching partner!! She's so cuddly!! Glad to hear baby moving fine!!
Have a good day, were supposed to be having a school BBQ tonight!! Confused

Hope everyone is doing well and babies are well too x x x

deo357 · 06/07/2011 19:34

mad this rime of year for schools isnt it! went to midwife today at docs, 1st time and last) & she thinks i have ripped a muscle, so have to see how it goes & if pain doesnt get better go to labour ward. Im also measuring 27 instead of 24 (i have never had big babies) so that was weird ?? missing all our chats ladies !!!!

Coppernoddle · 07/07/2011 08:39

Oh dear deo! What happens if it gets bigger then? Will they keep baby there till the end? Must be very painful! Will chat in a mo when I've done the school run!!! Manic!!

Coppernoddle · 07/07/2011 10:05

Gosh, how am I going to do that with a baby!! And deo, your got 5 others to control and get ready!! Respect!! :)
I feel a bit lost now, used to enjoy talking on this thread 4 times a day! Hehehe! Obviously when we've had little ones, were not going to sit on mums net! I have a nice relaxing day today! Nothing to do this morning! Soft play this afternoon and at a friends for tea! A clean house that will stay clean!!

Well, I'm 35 weeks today and still going strong!,I got two weeks till they admit me and three weeks till I meet my little boy! I'm so exited, but very nervous! Starting to think about stocking the cupboards so dh doesn't feed the kids crap for a week and a half!!

Hope everyone is doing well!! X x x

deo357 · 07/07/2011 18:08

im missing this thread big time too, i have such a long time til baby too, at least u dont have long CN, i will keep u company when u r admitted, hopefully u will have internet in there ! i have no idea what they r gonna do about ripped muscle, blimin agony today still. teamed up with sciatica than came on in my leg last night i feel like a car crash. Having a big family is heaven, i love having sooo many kids but the more u r pregnant the worse it gets, i am just in pain & havent even mentioned to them about the spd thats coming on. i have approx 12 weeks to go now & 6 weeks summer hols to endure. usually im praying for the kids to be home & now im worrying that they will be bored to tears with me not being able to do much :-( oh i do feel sorry for myself. was supposed to be out with year 1 mums tonight, but cancelled i just want to be at home comfy. Today i have been making 70 salmon fish cakes, they r only small! watching a scootathon @ nursery, & visiting my nan !! i miss shopping & walking our boxer dogs !!!!!! do a little menu plan for your hubby CN ! & book your tesco delivery now !!!!

Coppernoddle · 07/07/2011 19:30

Oh deo!! I hated your stage! Everything starting to go wrong and hurt and with weeks to go!! It's crap! Hopefully you'll be able to get through the summer holidays though! Have you got people to help you? Holiday club would cost a fortune for 5 kids! You could do with hiring a college student for a little extra cash just to help out! I hope your hernia doesn't get any worse and hopefully spd will stay at bay for a little while longer!! For you I do hope they won't let you go too far!
I'm going to take the iPad into hospital with me and hopefully they'll give me a passcode rather than pay for the tele Internet which is crap! So I may be on here a lot more! Just trying to tie up the last few loose ends. Dh mum is going to look after the kids when I go in for that week so I know it will be healthy'ish food so as log as I get food in,they can only eat what's in the cupboard! Buy frozen veg so he has to do no chopping and they still get veg! I'll do a online shop just before I go in and can always do another while I'm in or just before I come home! Got my cleaners booked for the day I get out'ish as I don't have official date, there on stand by, at least it'll be clean when I get out! I can't wait! Get my body back, and never have to do this again!!! I'm guessing this will be your last too? Don't think my body can take any more! Well, I'll still be here for you all the way through! I'm looking forward to your news!!
I miss doing things with the family the most! Were a big bike family and have waited along time for both girls to ride without stabilisers! Which has now happened and dh took the girls for there first bike ride last weekend! Was very upset as it was supposed to be all of us! Big milestone! I'm sick of not being able to walk to the park or the bakery or even to school! That's a point deo! Your going to need a mini bus! Confused a family of 8, fantastic! I'm from a family of 7 and were all still talking!!! :) we never had any money but had a lot of fun along the way!

Catch you in the morning, hubby got Chinese!! Mmmmm!!

deo357 · 07/07/2011 20:06

thanks for the sympathy CN - just started a new thread for wingers actually - not pp just general !!
dont really have people to help me, although student is a good idea, god knows where i may get one ! i am a stubborn control freak that loves doing things for myself so help doesnt go down well !!!!
how exciting getting things all organised, got any names? ipad great idea to take in, i want one !!I normally get cleaners in the days before i go in too, so all clean for everyone too. This will be my last babe, the only thing i generally miss about being preg is the baby kicking, i never have declared to love being pregnant, but LOOOOOVE babies! Yes i even miss walking to school too & walking the dogs ( we have 2 boxers!)
Car wise, we have Chrysler Grand Voyager & have bought new seats for inside so now its an 8 seater ! we couldnt decide on an 8 seater so see how we go. it may be too squashed as kids get bigger, but choice is rubbish !!!
Have a good chinky. Hubby bought me some bakklava home from kebab shop mmmmmmmm

x

Coppernoddle · 08/07/2011 13:40

Hello!! Manic day has turned into a disappointing day!!! Dd1 first sports day has just been cancelled due to the rain and have no other days free to try and do it again!!! I hate British weather!! This weather costs us a fortune!! Day trips out spending money rather than a picnic down the park! I'm seriously considering moving to another country!! Gggrrrrr!!
Deo why don't you try and phone the college and see if there's any childcare students who want experience for a little extra cash! Or put a ad in the local shop for help!
I'm going to miss baby kicking too! I'm not looking forward to the sleepless nights, I'm nackered already! Worried as hubby has got so much work to do that I'm not going to get any help either! Because it's the summer holidays he's working shorter days for a month and working from home rather than two weeks off, and if I bounce back quicker than I thought, he just going to have a few shorter days and get back into full longs days too quickly, feeling robbed of that family time! I already am having limited help from him as he has sooooo much work to do, I'm about ready to pack his bags and tell him to bugger off, but that's the hormones speaking! Then he just gives me the speech of how good he is and he's not like other hubby's off to the pub every night etc! He thinks the sun shines out of his arse! And he wines like a girl when he gets stressed! Propper does my head in at the mo!!
Poor hubby! Rant over. I do really love him, I'd love him more is he shaved his beard off! Looks like bloody Jesus at the moment! Yuk!
As you can tell, I'm in a right grump today! Very tired, very fed up of everything and just want to go on holiday! On my own!!!
That's good that you have a big enough car, you don't have the faff in changing it, one less stress off your mind!
I love kebab's too!! Can't beat a good dirty Donna!!! Take outs always a good idea until after, when you feel dead greasy and too full! I have to eat a pile of fruit after to make feel better!, although I did have left over Chinese for breakfast this morning Confused which was remarkably gorgeous!! Healthy night tonight then!!
Well, will catch you later! Friday night couch divers!!

deo357 · 08/07/2011 19:40

ah shame your day went wrong, blimin rain !! ill be saying that all summer hols when im stuck in this country with no beach or pool !!

U have a good old moan about hubby, saves saying it all to his face !! i know what u mean, mine is such a sick note, oh bad neck, throat, cold etc . drives me insane. he gives me next to no help either then said all i do is sit around having costa coffee !!!!! he made pasta for dinner 4 kids tonight - wow wee - anyone would have thought he did something amazing, must be first time hes done dinner since ive been preggers !!! Im sure u will get more time together than u think, its always hard to judge. mine is self employed so no work, no money, thats always a problem !!!

i was a good girl last night, i didnt have the kebab only hubby !! i had the baklava mmmmmm - baby feels so big, how the hell is it gonna grow, i think ive got bad water retention actually, how do u get rid of that !!!

xxx

Coppernoddle · 09/07/2011 08:21

Lol!!! There all the same! Men! Can't live with them, can't live without them (sometimes) if my hubby does anything to help I have to give him a medal too!!
What's a baklava? Never heard of that! I'm guessing it's Turkish? Greek?

To be fair! You have been told to sit around, and he wouldn't be saying that when you've done too much and ended up in hospital for weeks on end! See how he gets on then!! Hehehehehe!, my hubbies got a very demanding job and the stress is massive for him! So I don't bother him half the time, but sometimes I think he creates his own stress!! I haven't got the patience any more!
I remember getting to 26 weeks thinking I'm huge! How the hell can this get any bigger, then it does Confused
Well, ballet exam this morning, help the school build a plastic bottle greenhouse, girls got a birthday party and a school BBQ for tonight! Busy day!! Now I'm going upstairs to make sure hubby trims that rat off his face!! Have a brilliant day and I'll catch you later x x x x

deo357 · 09/07/2011 18:43

hey cn, happy saturday !!

Baklava is that greek pastry thing with nuts on :)

My hubby is a stress head too & i agree he makes the sit worse for himself sometimes. i on the other hand are the opposite!

I am really noticing how fat i am now, i look in the mirror & my face is so round. I am hopeing the breastfeeding will help with the weight loss .( it never has before) but this time as its the last im gonna try to do it as long as possible, as last time i gave up & regretted it. ??? Busy day 4 u today. my hubby was gonna work then it all changed so that was nice today, been hanging around not doing much. sciatica is really kicking off down my right leg jeeeez. Got another party tonight (wearing flats!) its a scruffy party, in friends woods with pool & hot tub & bands & hog roast. Just hubbys thing!! so i shall be wearing a baggy hoody & leggings & flats !!! nice , but hubby now saying i shouldnt go because of sciatica. oh well . wont be too late as my nan is baby sitting (shes 86!!)
oh and i shall not be getting in the hot tub or all the water will get out !!!!!!
xx hope all you ladies with your babies r doing ok me & CN would love to hear from you

Coppernoddle · 10/07/2011 21:17

Oh my goodness I'm soooooo tired!! My eyes are wobbling all over the place trying to type this!! Just managed to stay awake for top gear and now I've had it!!! So just a quick one!!

My goodness your brave with your Nan at 86!!!! Mine couldn't even climb the stairs, or even stand out of her chair without looking like she's going to break a hip!
Your night out sounds lovely!! Shame you can't join in!
Breastfeeding, I dropped the weight very quickly and by gum I'll be doing the same!!! Then as soon as that's done, it's saving for a tummy tuck and boob job!!! I deserve to give my body the best after this pregnancy!
I've eaten way too much food tonight! I can feel the muscles down my sides stretching to there most!! Ow!!
Must......sleep........zzzzzzz
Will be more perkier tomorrow!! X x x

deo357 · 11/07/2011 07:47

morning!
party was ok sat night, didnt know that many and i can be an unsociable git! Nan was ok sitting, although she folded up my washing & commented on how my thongs couldnt cover a thing !!!! i told her they belong to hubby !!!!!!!!
Went to ikea yest ??? longest ive walked in a long time, very unsucessful anyhow apart from a travel change mat for bump.
Sciatica been playing up all weekend:-S but all in all surviving i think. 25 weeks now - 11 to go for me - cant wait for kids to finish school - new trampoline mats & nets arriving this weekend ready for a busy summer.
Tummy tuck & boob job sound good - not too fussed about the boobs, lift would be nice! there huge enough on there own - tummy tuck - now ya talking - if only !!!!!
Have a good monday

xxxx

Coppernoddle · 11/07/2011 08:41

Grin how funny!!!
Well woke up this morning to abba blaring downstairs, thank goodness the neighbours are away!! Now it's going to be in my head all day!! Grr!!
Wow, ikea's a long walk round! Think I would make it to the front door, hubby stressing I'm slowing him down and make me wait in the car! But good to get the last little things!
Hopefully the summer holidays will keep you busy enough to take your mind off it for a while and make at least 5 of those weeks fly! Concentrate on them and then at the end you'll only have a couple left!! Yay!!! Then soon you'll be like me, ticking off the days not weeks! I have another scan tomorrow, so I'll get my official date! Had a few more pink smears in my pants yesterday (sorry) as baby is really trying to engage, really bulging now, and one of my stretch marks bled yesterday! That's crap!!!! Just nodding off to sleep last night and hubby starts to run through what I would do in an emergency!! Now!! We have to do this now!!!! "what are you going to do, lie down, what are you going to say on the phone?", "piss off and leave me alone!!!!"
I had to then remind him about telling me I'd bled a little and buggered off to London! He then let me sleep!!!
Manic Mondays again!! Speak to you later x x

Coppernoddle · 11/07/2011 17:40

Is it me or are you too getting sick of all the crap when you approach due date and how labour is and tips etc! Talk about rub it in your face!! Yes I would love to give birth naturally!! Really pissing me off today! Why can't they put stuff about c sections and how to relax, and not stress, be calm, you may die but here's a little helpful words!!!

On the positive side, my two girlies passed their tap exams with flying colours!! Very proud mummy!!!

deo357 · 11/07/2011 17:40

ooh scan tomorrow great ! cant wait to hear about that . & dont forget to tell them about blood. U have done well on that front really. Not long to go how exciting.

Im going to focus on summer like u said & hope weeks tick by. Ikea was long way, felt it by the end, but felt particularly energetic yest (unlike me) so why not ?? All a bit puffy today in the heat, bought 2 new tops & pair of linen trousers ooops. Another party fri night (told u i had loads this month) so might hit primark for a maxi dress this week.

Any names for babe CN ??

xx

Coppernoddle · 11/07/2011 18:51

Gosh your a party popper!!!! Think I might have to venture out this week for clothes too! I've just realised I have no breastfeeding tops!! Think I might need them!!!
Were thinking of Toby? What do you think? Not Tobias though, were not greek!! :) all the English funky names have been taken in our village! I like Rupert but my hubby hates it! But as it stands, my hubby and the girls want anakin for a middle name! How sad, star wars!! Which has for some reason been a big part of this pregnancy, I've watched my whole family turn into geeks!!! Were even going to the comic book festival down south in October (I think oct)!!

What about you? What have you got already?

cmm · 11/07/2011 23:30

Hi Cn and deo!
Just feeding Ted and thought I'd log on to say hi and still think of you all! Don't get as much time on but honestly still remember how hard it is.
Cn - are you in hosp next week? Have you had any bleeds? Know it's difficult going in buy honestly it's better for you. Turns out my hv had a pp, very helpful talking to her too.
Deo - you're getting through the weeks, keep chatting to us all, it is so hard as feels such a long road I know. Doesn't seem two mins since I was struggling with the pp. Doing ok now but slower recovery than i thought, think the spd, the month in hosp and the pp...

Like you've both said has been such a good thread, must keep it going xxx

OP posts:
deo357 · 12/07/2011 16:50

ahh cmm - how lovely to hear from you. glad all going well & hope ted is doing well. your on the upside now u lucky thing !!!

cn - how was your scan today ???? like toby thats always on my short list, i have 5 boys already so im soooo stuck on boys names (ill message u my boys names) girls in to starwars???????? some of my boys love star wars & one of my top names for a boy is luke.

Ive taken it easy today with paper work, watched one born every minute USA & cried at every blimin birth !! obviously hormones up the spout today !!! mind u i watched marley & me on monday & cried thru that too !!
i agree the c-section info is always very serious & it is a major op stuff. but it is so common nowdays - we will be fine - normally it doesnt worry me as ive had 5 but i will admit with having the hysterectomy its on my mind .

xx

Coppernoddle · 12/07/2011 20:01

Cmm good to hear from you! Glad your doing well and hope your recovery is getting better even though it's slower than you thought! Glad Ted is doing well! Hope your enjoying family life together with a little one!

Deo, I love your boys names! There all lovely!! But I know boys in the village with the same names and wanted one that no one had which is why we picked Toby! Glad you like it!
My girls are mad about star wars! When we went to Florida Disneyworld, they were more exited about seeing darth vader than anyone else!, all the toys they came back with were all star wars! Dd1 is always princess leia, and dd2 going round saying she has the dark side and is an akakin! My hubby is honestly going to name our little ones middle name anakin! Is that really sad??????

Well, today I feel completely deflated!!! Scan went well, the consultant was a complete arse!! And that's being polite!!

My head is messed!
Well, scan, the placenta has moved which everyone was very shocked about as it was covered so much and is posteria. It's now touching, but they couldn't make out if it was covering or not! So she just wrote on my notes touching not covering! Then in comes the arse hole who proclaims to be the consultant, was very rude, no nice in his voice whatsoever, did an internal and was dead rough, did a swab which he never even said he was going to do! He said now it's not covering were going to scan you at 38 weeks!! When I was supposed to have baby! So no week hospital stay for me! They'll scan me again and if it's not moved enough for me to give birth naturally which is highly unlikely as it has to move quite far, there going to then c section me at 39 weeks. Which messes up all my plans!! I got it into my head in two weeks, baby would be out and I could start to get my body back I'm in soooooo much pain now! Instead, I could be pregnant for 6 weeks!!! THAT's SHIT!!!!!! Dh mum has taken the week off work to look after the girls while I was supposed to be in hospital as she can't have time off after baby is born! It messes with my whole plans!!! Either still c section but later or naturally which could be bloody 6 weeks!! I'm mad!!! If the consultant was nicer about it I might be a little more forgiving! Bugger it!!! I'm going to have sex!!!! All that money I've spent on childcare!! Grade 3 has all the same risks as 4 and it has to move a mile before I can give birth naturally! Why are they just messing me around! Just get it done!!!!

Sorry!!! :( long one!!! I guess on the positive side, if I gave birth naturally, I wouldn't have c section to get over! My last birth was a breeze!!

So I don't know whether to be happy or mad!! Can't make up my mind! I've had a beer and my third takeout in one week!! How bad is that!! I'm usually one every two weeks!!
Oooooohhh, feel deflated!!!

deo357 · 13/07/2011 17:37

oh cn - so sorry for u, i guess having it naturally is better, but i totally understand u thought u were organised and now who knows! what a bummer. feel for u today! well, i hope u had a good rogering last night to get over it, Grin oh did i laugh at that!!!. maybe u could call your midwife & discuss or see another consultant?
how u feeling about it all today?
ive been to shops today, but always feel so weary after & got no maternity clothes , a lovely top from zara for when im skinny again & no baby stuff!!!

Coppernoddle · 13/07/2011 20:16

Gosh what a day!!!! I saw the doctor today for my daughter, which I will move onto in a mo, and she was appalled too! She said there's no way that it will move that far out if the way for me to give birth naturally in that time so there just mucking me around! And they treat grade 3 exactly as. Grade 4 so what he's playing at I don't know! I felt like a statistic, a number, quickly to get through as they were running an hour late and trying to save money!! Prick!!!!
Anyway, got to my friends house after appointment yesterday to pick up dd1, and she'd fallen off the trampoline, hurt her head and fell on her wrist funny but was still playing, just cautiously. So put her to bed, was sore in the night and this morning but when playing, she kinda forgot about it! So I sent her to school and when I went in to take dd2 for her school visit, (of which wasn't even on this week, pregnancy brain, they still let me stay as I did a load of laminating and cutting for them), dd1 had just had a big accident on the playground! Very big bang to the head, not herself at all, they were shocked dye never knocked herself out, took all the skin off her knees very deep, went through three dressing! Very upset so I sat there with her all afternoon. At 3.30 I had a doctor appointment for dd2 for a varuca so though I would just ask her to check her wrist and she suggested I go and get it checked out! So I go to a&e there and then as it was dead, we went straight through because of her head injury. They were brilliant!, they said that they was happy for her to stay over night but looking at me she might be better at home and then said we'll just dray her wrist to make sure, as she wasn't to wingy about it! Then came back to me and it's all fractured!! She's strapped up for three weeks, just at the beginning of the holidays! And the holiday clubs I have her booked into are all contact sports and physical!! This is going bad to worse!! To top it off, half way through this message, vie just had a blazing row with hubby as he said to me dead snidey, are you not going to do the washing because he has managed to was some wellies! So in a mad temper I actually got up and did an award ceremony screaming at him and actually gave him a medal!!! WTF!!! My calm levels are none existent today and hubby just pushed me over the edge!! All men are now pricks!!! Confused
so, plan of action tomorrow! Treat for dd1, spend some cash for her and me (breastfeeding tops), phone consultant and beg, pack hubby's bags and he can stay at his mums for a bit!!! :)

My moto is, if you couldn't find what you were looking for, go again!!! :) Cannot beat retail therapy! Keep going into fat face buying clothes for when I'm done in hope we get a little bit of warmish weather this august!
Sorry for the rant! It's been one of those days!!!
Get all your shopping done now, better than towing 5 boys round the shops!!!

Coppernoddle · 13/07/2011 20:17

If he thinks he's having his wikid way tonight he's got another thing coming!!! Confused

deo357 · 14/07/2011 09:52

OMG what a day for u - your poor girls !! & your poor plans all buggered !!!!!
no1 - get on the phone to that hospital / consultant / midwife & let rip girly, do not let them make u a statistic
no2 - make the hubby hit the sofa - cheeky git !!!!!
No 3 - get shopping & all will be good !!!!!!!

hope u r feeling calmer today honey your stress levels must be thru the roof & your poor dd !

went out for dinner with hubby last night & he now doesnt want my TOP name & i absolutely have my heart set on it & the cheeky git asked some customer of his today , her opinion, just cause she was 39 weeks preggy, what do i care what she thinks??? she doesnt even have any kids, shes never even seen what my kids look like how can u have an opinion. boo hoo so my boys names r buggered. lets pray for a pink one so i get the name i want, but with 5 boys its not gonna happen :-(
