Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

SeaChelle39 · 30/06/2011 08:38

Hi everyone,
How's everyone doing and congratulations on all the births!xx well the birth was easier than I expected I was awake and had the normal amount of bleeding. Were still in hospital and had a really rough time, my lil button eva was bornn without a bottom, its in her vagina shes missing her coxiks and is tounge tied. Bless her. She's had an op and a colostmy bag fitted but more ops to come. Been a very emotional time but were getting there
Hope your all ok and doing well and I will post properly when I get home, nightmare on this phone xxxt

Coppernoddle · 30/06/2011 09:32

Oh seachelle! What a stressful time!! Congratulations on Eva, what a pretty name!! Glad your op went well. Poor little madam! Never heard of that before, hope everything goes well for you! Did they not pick these things up on the scan? Well, keep us informed and big hugs x x x be strong x x x

Yes deo, I think my husband did too!! Just aswell I couldn't see it!! Grin
Cosco, you always buy more than you need there! Have fun!

Coppernoddle · 30/06/2011 09:33

Will that effect her walking seachelle? Is it fully rectifiable?

SeaChelle39 · 30/06/2011 11:33

Hiya no nothing picked up in scan. The coxiks shouldn't affect her walking but might affect her balance slightly. We've just got to watch out for urine infections until her next op. I'd never heard of it befor either its called ARM anorectal malformation xx

Coppernoddle · 30/06/2011 11:44

Poor little thing! When's her next op? The tongue tied should be a problem now then know but may be difficult to breastfeed. Will she have the colostromy as a temporary measure?
They are sent to try us aren't they!!! I guess it gives you a little time to get yourself fit and well after the c section but do hope she'll recover quickly!! X x x

deo357 · 30/06/2011 16:23

congrats seachelle on the birth of EVA ! - sorry to hear about her problems, babies having operations is so hard, but you know what, it could be so much worse. hope you get to have her home soon and enjoy it all. glad section went well though. been thinking of you.

spent far to much in costco today! baby busy twanging my rib today ouch !!!

EMOO - long time no hear? how are u ?

CN - how was your massage ?

Coppernoddle · 30/06/2011 16:32

Massage lovely but she cut it short by 20 minutes!! Was well annoyed! But silly me never said anything because she gave me a complimentary foot cream as the cd kept sticking!!! Want another one now! Will go to the place I usually have it done, I trust them there. It was still lovely!

Coppernoddle · 01/07/2011 10:20

deo357 · 01/07/2011 14:06

Coppernoddle · 01/07/2011 14:33

Deo, you have 24 hours to get yourself sorted!! You go girl!!

deo357 · 01/07/2011 17:54

well nails booked for 4.30 now ! thats one plus.....no-one will let me book for lipo, spanx here i come !!!! hair still to be sorted :-S

need to rest tonight, little one went flying off the roundabout at park today so i ran super speed to resue him & kinda forgot i was preggy !! ooops not good.

deo357 · 01/07/2011 18:23

dont know why i do it to myself, just decided to google placenta accreta (which i have) and looked on some american site, and it said 10% of people with this die :-O now feeling totally freaked out and paniced. oh lord. also as i have said before lots of articles & info's state delivery @34 but my cons saying 36 - what do u think girls - should i push for 34 ??

Coppernoddle · 02/07/2011 08:19

Oh no!! You shouldn't of googled!!! Ignorance is bliss!!! I would of thought they might admit you at 34 and try and hold out for as long as possible! (till 36), at least your there and they have time to react, and they can stock pile your blood! I should imagine in the states this statistic would be true due to the vast amount of travelling you have to do to get to a hospital! Everywhere is so far apart! Over here though, your a lot closer to the hospitals, and you shouldn't venture out to far! Don't panic! And don't read!!!!

Don't worry about the dashing! I did it at about 23 weeks as someone else cat was shitting in our garden on my veggie patch! I was fuming and could of shot the cat!!! So went running out of the kitchen door and scared the life out of it!! I was fuming!

When do you see your consultant next? Or your midwife? Maybe speak to them about it for peace of mind! Get a plan together in case you are in hospital for a couple of weeks, get the kids looked after etc!

Have a fab time getting your nails done, maybe pop into town for the hairdressers, and have a brilliant night!!

Coppernoddle · 02/07/2011 08:20

I'm going to have a baby this month!!!!!!!!!!! Confused

deo357 · 02/07/2011 11:02

Coppernoddle · 02/07/2011 17:40

As close to the 28th as possible! I'll hit 38 weeks on the 28th!

Have a fantastic night tonight! Get yourself all made up!
I'm off out tomorrow night to my friends book launch! I'll be yawning by 9.00pm!! Think this maybe my last night out aswell,

deo357 · 02/07/2011 18:14

ooh how exciting, thanks, nails done, time to shower kids then kick them all down stairs so i can beautify the fatness!!!!

i have 4 big nights out in as many weeks, bummer they all fall when pregnant.

It may be hard tonight tottering about in BIG heels, no alcohol, (i had a pimms at the school fate today!!!naughty me) and no cigarettes, im a social smoker but obviously dont smoke when pregnant !!!torture !!!!!

enjoy tomorrow night too xx

Coppernoddle · 03/07/2011 08:15

So how did you evening go? Nackered? Did you manage to tart the fatness Grin and not fall on your heels? Hehehehehe!!
I love pimms! I'm really hoping that after baby comes out we have a good august so in the eve I can sit with my husband and have a lovely beverage!!
Pregnancy always come at awkward times!! It was my 30th in march and really wanted a big party as I never had a big bash for my 18th or 21st! Instead I had to settle for a spa day and a meal. My husband took me shopping to the trafford centre were we got all of 10 feet into it at then discovered spd, spent the day in hospital and there the told me I couldn't have sex!! On my 30th!! Gutted!! We had a skiing holiday at Christmas which I went on and was sick as a dog and slept through most of it and my girlies are ace skiers so off they would go every day with their daddy, and then a big holiday to Florida Disney land booked where all I did was cry every time they met a princess!!! And be pushed around in wheelchairs everyday! My husband thought it was highly amusing to park me facing walls and posts rather than the attraction!
Even still, I'm still looking forward to baby, and so are the girls and hubby! I guess there's never a good time to be pregnant! But the thing I'm looking forward to the most, hubby getting the snip Grin

Enjoy the weather ladies, hope everyone and babies are doing well!!

I had a dream last night that I bled! But it was very weird!!

deo357 · 03/07/2011 09:59

well eve good, surround by girls that look like lollypops feeling jelous, but lots of peps there hadnt seen or heard i was preg so big fuss for hubby & i & as u can imagine with 5 boys already its a hot topic . im used to it but hubby never gets used to it. even when we are going on hol or out for the day we get lots of attention. walked ok in the killer heels though about 1/2 past 10 oooh the pain, just to think once upon a time i didnt own flats. anyhow we rocked home about 12.30, with swollen feet & legs !!!! too much standing, resisted a boogie with the girls in fear of bleeding !!! and wished they would have put lemonade down the vodka luge (however u spell it) for me !!!

cp - what a disaster of a 30th - bad timing - on my 30th id just had no 5 so didnt do much either . we have never been skiing, obviously cant ski, but would love to take the kids one day. and florida..what a shame u were stuck in a wheelchair my hubby would have done exactly the same !!!!!!! Horrid dream lets keep fingers crossed it doesnt happen .

hanging today but hubbys only day off so letting him sleep , have a good day all, enjoy the sun all

xxxx

Just wanted to say still think of you all and wishing you all well. In bed with little 'ted' in Moses basket at the side of me..... It felt like forever that I was in hospital and living each day with the bleeds and tightenings and fear.. I really know how hard it is. Keep focused and if you want to chat about things I'll keep checking the thread. It's two weeks on weds since 'ted' was born. He's adorable. He has been worth it but gosh it was a long and difficult journey. Oops just dozing and deleted more I've written. Better get to sleep whilst he's dozing too!!! Xxx

ahh lovely to hear from you cmm & glad u are settling back in to normal life ! feels like a long road ahead for me at the moment, 24 weeks now so getting to the point where baby may survive if something happens & it has to be delivered. i just am thinking aboout you guys on here who have been thru it and come out the other end with a lovely little baby !

hanging today had one up several times in the night then found 2 of them playing at 4am & couldnt get back to sleep - ahhhh - not feeling good at all !!!! they are in serious trouble this morning

Coppernoddle · 04/07/2011 10:43

Glad your doing well cmm! Can't believe he's two weeks old already!! Bet it's lovely to be home!! And well done for napping while he does! Those naps are vital! Hope your enjoying the nice weather and your recovering well. Is Ted sleeping well yet? Am trying to get all the advise for a contented nightime sleeping baby, even though I have two already! It's been a while!!!

Deo, I remember what it was like to hit 24 weeks! Was a big sigh of relief! Then every week after that got easier and easier. You'll find you'll start to relax a little more now, my next goal then was 30 weeks, then 34, and now it's 36 and I'm still going strong!
I feel absolutely shattered today too! The girls are waking up very early too due to the birds and light, even though they have black out blinds! And didn't get to bed till midnight aswell! Zzzzzzzzzz can't wait till bed tonight!
Got midwife today, always nice to listen to his heartbeat!!

Coppernoddle · 04/07/2011 10:45

Seachelle- how are you getting on? Any news on the operation? Hope little one is doing well x x
