Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Just hide the grey & my hair goes red too so I like 2 tone it .
I went 2 tkmaxx nothing . Never find anything there really . Yea school uniforms expensive , but then again I hand down shirts etc , it's only uniform !

Coppernoddle · 15/02/2012 15:40

True! I do the same with harriets uniform, still costs about £200 each year for the two of them! I'm hoping each year gets cheaper!
I'm lucky, being a red head, I have no grey yet! Think we're the last to go grey!
Tkmax is very hit and miss! When your specifically looking for something, you never find it! When you go for a meander, not much cash, everything is just too nice! Butu lately, I feel it's just become on very big, expensive second hand shop! It's all proper trash! Nothing special really.
Girls been in hot tub today for two hours swimming around! There's so much grass in it! Need to get a net. But looking forward to going init again, it's soooooo lovely!

deo357 · 15/02/2012 19:38

yea i normally spend 200 on school shoes, but zak startingschool september so it will be more !
yea i only find stufff in tk when broke, there is quite a good one in watford for gifty stuff & home but clothes r always rubbish. i want some of those gumbies but they have none.
my mums got same hair as u , although i think its the blondes that go grey last im afraid !!!!!
hot tub....fab, weve been bowling today & swimming tomorrow xx

deo357 · 16/02/2012 17:51

no swimming today, 4 yr old up all night from 2am, wanting this & that, scared, moaning u name it, i was actually shaking this am i was si tired. i was literally going insane, think it may b his ear, but he hasnt said that. bad mother alert................stanley fell off sofa today, i feeel awful, dont know how & as always i went away for 5 mins. stanleeys night waking r getting earlier again, gonna start weaning today, baby rice tonight & dropping another feed tomorrow :-( diet is getting ever closer !!!

Coppernoddle · 16/02/2012 20:55

Oh no, how horrible for you! I'm sure he's fine but you feel absolutely awful! I bet being so tired and trying to cater to everyone's needs made today hard! Babies bounce! Still doesn't make you feel any better! Harriet did that when she was little! I left Ewan in the middle of my bed to go to the toilet this mooring and he's just started rolling, by the time I came back, he's right on the edge of the bed! Don't think I can do that again!
Good luck with the weaning! It's sooo much fun! But don't be suprised if he doesn't start sleeping through straight away, its taken Ewan nearly two months! I'm sure you know more than any of us about weaning! Hope it goes well for you. I used that baby porridge from 4 months as baby rice is just rank!! Then made some puréed fruit to add, Ewan adores it! Try lunchtime rather dinner, it may give him tummy ache the later you leave it, at least has time to digest! What am I talking about, you have this nailed!! Out of all of us you seem be in control! You got Ewan sussex and you never even met him! Really hopes he sleeps for you tonight! I can't cope with no sleep!
We went to tatton park today for the scarecrow festival, I love it, the kids run themselves ragged, fresh air, good dinner, bed!! Love it! I'm nackerd too so I'm off to bed!!
Fingers crossed for good sleeps!

cmm · 17/02/2012 20:23

Hi girls sorry havent been in touch, just the usual busy things! Ted still rubbish sleeping, def agree that I need to sort it out. Waiting for his cold to clear More then need to start!

Deo you sound like you've had a difficult week, is all better now? I looked after my godson once when he rolled too!!!! Literally turned away to do something for a second!
Did you start weaning?

Cn - we hsve scarecrow festival near us in summer, they are fab aren't they!!! We've been out loads this week meeting different friends and children too!!!

Weaning went ok, he opens his mouth nicely andd thinks about it then squished out !! But went ok, I know baby rice is never a hit but need to give it 4 three days to test his gut. Then on to veg, I puree veg & buy puree fruit, that's my little compromise as u have to cook so much fruit to make loads. I'm not expecting it will make him sleep thru, but he was getting hungrier. He went back to waking at 4am last night so that's better, but he was still hungry. I think this will b the way til he is on just bottles, 10.30pm I gave half bot & half boob last night! It's the next one to go. He is getting such handwork to bf now, wiggling & pulling & twisting his head !!!! Ouch !!!!! Been to cinema today to c the muppets mnamah....dododo dodo do do !!!!
Ooh scarecrow thing sounds fun !

Coppernoddle · 19/02/2012 10:09

oh, deo, weaning!!! Sounds like he's having fun! Even if he is squishing it round!! I used baby porridge from 4 months, got so much more flavour and just as gentle!! Then just start adding apple and pear to it, Ewan looooves it! I loved weaning ewan, it's sooo much fun! The boy eats anything you give him! :)

The scarecrow thing was ace,we go every year, there soo funny!!

Well done cmm, keep going and you'll look ace for the summer!
We're starting to get Ewan out of that middle of the night feed, he's slept through quite a few days now, but he too had a cold and guzzled middle of the night feeds. You know yourself you get thirsty and grumpy so don't worry till after he's better!

Ooh muppets! I love the muppets! We've had a very busy half term week, will be sad to send them back to school but really need to clean the house!!! Trashed is not the word!! I'm eager to move now, we've outgrown this house soooo quickly! We're supposed to be extending and decorating! We haven't don't anything since we moved in apart from the kids bedrooms! But not quite sure whether I can go through the pilava of building!! We also might be getting nomow, that's fake grass for the kids to play on all year round, I'm sick of the mudd in the back garden, and them not playing in the back garden inthe winter! Everett, decisions decisions!!!

cmm · 19/02/2012 21:42

Hi girls
Hope you're both ok.
Just tried first night of gradual withdrawal and after one hour of hysterical crying and almost making himself sick I gave in but at least didn't feed him to slrrp! You prob think I'm really weak and I know I have to try to break this but I was so upset seeing him like that and also when he went bsck on he fed!!! Went on a thread re gradual withdrawal too but wanted to ask my pp buddies what they think?! Have any of your other children been dependant on bf to go to sleep? Xx

OP posts:
deo357 · 20/02/2012 10:36

god cmm dont think u r weak , please, just a mummy !!!! havent had one dependant of bf for sleep, but its just like being rocked to sleep or whatever. all these things r hard to break but worth the pain, will he take the dummy ?? hopefully if u work really hard on it for a week u will crack it, let us know how u r going. remember it takes 3 days to form a habit.

had awful night with stanley screaming from 11.30 til 4am, no idea what was wrongwith him, gave calpol would not take dum or bood, nothing, my lord i am shattered, he seems ok today, little whingey, but dont know whether to whip him down the docs for a check ??

Coppernoddle · 20/02/2012 14:12

Gosh cmm, I would do the same, a quick feed for a easy life! My friends little one was sooooo similar to ted it's unreal!! The constant waking, crying and feeding! He could only get to sleep on the boob! I'll ask her for advise! Both my girls fed late feeds till they were nearly one! It was a bottle but when there's other children and hubby's that have to work, I'd rather just a quick feed and be done with it, no fuss! They eventfully grow out of it! Don't panic!!

Deo, go to the docs, I won't do no harm and at least you know then if he's fighting an ear infection or something! Poor little Stanley! Poor you with no sleep! I hate nights like that! And to think we did that at the start with feeding, 3 hours broken sleep a night! Couldn't do that now!!

It's all babies here!! Hubbies brother is having a baby, 12 weeks preggers and found out today my friend, the one who did the photos is pregnant with her first! 16 weeks!!! So many people having babies! Must be the recession! Grin

cmm · 21/02/2012 09:22

Hi there
Thanks for your messages and support. Think I just feel bad as if it's something I've done as my little girl didn't sleep through till 2 1/2! She didn't feed as much though and had a dummy whereas ted wont. She just didn't need as much sleep. Cracked it as she got older and she is a great sleeper now!
Anyway tried again last night and better! He cried solid for 30 mins then fell asleep without bf! He then woke another thirty mins later but managed to get him off just holding hand and sshhhing! He then slept four hours and then every 2-3 hours so hat meant only 3 get ups between 12 ish and 6 so better!!!! Really hope we keep like this! Would settle for this for a while even and then hopefully improve although hate seeing him so upset. Am not cutting night feeds out yet as think too much for him and my boobs!!!! How are you all? Pancakes today! We have a skipping tradition where we are where everyone skips aswell. They are allowed Half day off school but she's staying in as they are making pancakes and skipping there and easier with having ted! X

Lovely idea for pancake day! We eat pancakes at east once a week! We looooove them! Can't wait for pudding!!! Have fun everyone!! X x x

cmm · 21/02/2012 21:29

Thanks cn, lovely words. We should have pancakes more often. Hubby just cooking them now! I always mess them up!
Just had my accupuncture today at the Physio! Things a little better but she's said it's really important to do the exercises to strengthen and the accupuncture should help me push on with increasing the exercises.
Well, can't believe it... Day three of sleep training and he's gone off after twenty minutes whilst I sat next to cot but no crying!!!! I used my phone didn't look at him loads, said a few things, held hand, rubbed tummy and he just gurgled happily and then dozed off to sleep!!! Hasn't woken after the usual 30 min first sleep yet either!
How are things with you both? Xx

OP posts:
cmm · 22/02/2012 07:33
