Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Hi cn - how you doing? how's the bleeding? Any better?
Feeling bit low again today but determined to get through it. Have put little girl in some clubs afterschool this week to give me a bit more time too. We're away this weekend and next so maybe change of scenery will help. So silly feeling low when I have so much to be grateful for! Seen GP today and he thinks the difficult preg and previous health probs plus hormones too. He's happy to just keep reviewing and seeing how I am. Have been a little better and guess that everyone has up and down days so if on the whole I'm making progress that's the main thing. Feel bad complaining when both you and deo have had very difficult pregs too!!!! How are your hips/pelvis? Mine are much better in general although the pain in buttuck is back a little more! prob all the sitting breastfeeding in bed on a night!
Deo - how are you? hope you had a fab night out.
Ted is now 12lbs 8 oz so doing well - why do they grow so quick!!!! Good in lots of ways but love it when they are tiny! x

Still bleeding, thought it stopped for half a day but started again! Think I may have to go to docs now, it's light but bright red! So defo not period!
Ewans on neonate milk now due to lactose intolerance, same as dd2, so not bothered really, just hope he settles a bit now!
I have the day off tomorrow! Hubby taking day off work, girls at school, friend has ewan!! So time for DVD, quilt, and heaps of choccy!!! And sleep, as were going to watch Peter Kay so will be late night?, can't wait!!!!
Glad teds putting on weight, he sounds like he's thriving! I can't believe how fast times flying too!! I don't want Ewan to get any bigger, he's so gorgeous!!

cmm · 11/10/2011 21:59

deo357 · 12/10/2011 14:45

hi girls, sorry havent messaged have read your messages but only on my iphone and cant face typing on there anymore. the laptop is always busy in my house !! how was peter kay & your day in bed CN ??? Glad to hear u r keeping going cnn. the lack of sleep isnt going to help your moods either.
all ok with me, hv came yest & stanley 4lb 14.5 oz only put on 3oz so she wasnt impressed. said i need to think about topping up but i refused. topping up is the kiss of death, been there before, like u CN, once u start its a downward spiral to a bottle & i really really want to BF as its my last & nothing is gonna stop me!!!! obviously if stanley is losing weight thats different, but considering he did 9oz last week i think thats fine, she is giving me a another week. they annoy me with the breast is best stuff & then get u on formula quicker than anything. trying to givehim 2 boobs now as he was only having one before. but he projectiled twice this am & he is not normally sick, too much i think. also must keep drinking im terrible for not drinking so doing that too. made the fatal mistake of weighing myself oh dear .....2 stone off my normal......awful !!! & i feel like i can never run again with all this flab !!!!! xxxx off to do school run & an extra one tonight. must b mental ;-)))

cmm · 14/10/2011 02:43

Hi deo, good to hear stanleys well, I had same with my little girl, they wanted me' to top up,did one bottle for a week just once a day on top of my milk but wasn't happy! Stopped after a week and just kept with my milk and all was ok. My little girl was on 0 centile for ages!!!! She just put on tiny amounts of weight each week. Is it with him being prem they're worried? How are you in yourself? I daren't weigh myself so hubby weighs mr each week to see if I've lost or gained, honestly it's taken me' about two months to lose 5lbs! How frustrating!. Starting to get a waist back though, but I just live in my maternity jeans and long cardigans!
Cn how's you? How's the bleeding?
Thinking of you x

deo357 · 14/10/2011 13:44

glad to hear that happened with your little girl cmm & assume u continued to feed?? stanley is between 9th & 2nd centile. anyhow, im not doing it unless i feel he needs it !

meant to tell u both about my trip to queen charlottes on monday. stanley had a hip scan so went up there in the am. on the journey i went thru so many emotions. i felt that awful trapped feeling of being stuck at the hospital, the lonelyness, the emptyness of being without my kids. then i went into the traumatic feeling of omg i nearly died that day & the awful pain i experienced for days on end when i couldnt take anymore. i could have sobbed all the way there, but i held it together. so it just goes to show cmm that we are all effected. i feel lucky to be alive at the moment & my whole self is feeling very grateful still that i made it thru. hopefully as i have to go next week and the week after it will be therapy !!!

ds1 doing a county cross country race with his new school sat & a judo comp in oxford on sunday ! busy weekend AGAIN xxxx

cmm · 14/10/2011 17:46

Hi there, yes continued to feed. Ted is going closer to ninth Centile too! My little girl was never as high as that though even when weaned!
Can totally understand your experience going back to charlottes. That's how i feel and I didn't have the intensive care and transfusion experience you did! Think for me', prob like both of you, it feels like the year from about feb till recently has been so difficult. Also think I mentioned before, it brought back memories of my past childhood health probs when I wasn't able to walk for years and was bedbound. The previa does make you feel so vulnerable. I too feel so grateful with my little boy bundle! That's why I hate it when I feel low. They just keep saying that it's emotional catch up after traumatic preg and memories to past. I the first time I was ill never thought I'd ever get married or walk again and therefore all this often feels amazing but also surreal! We're all so lucky aren't we. I can't imagine how hard that experience was for you deo. I found the almost five weeks in so hard but know that the actual op was ok. Think I mentioned my hv had pp and was rushed to theatre from the ward and needed transfusion. She is so good at understanding it all.
Well on our way to Derbyshire in motorhome for weekend and off to the motorhome and caravan show at but staying at campsite about 40 mins away!

Hope your boy enjoys the cross country! How old are they again?
Cn how are you? Hope all ok. Are you Amy further with probs with bleeding, let us know how you are x

Yes she is Macclesfield way ish ! Thats Derbyshire ?? Hope u slept well ! Hips all normal !!

Coppernoddle · 16/10/2011 12:53

I girls, so sorry! What a rough few days we've had! Very emotional time!! Enhanced by lack of sleep! My bleeding started again and my cyst has got bigger so they think it could be that bleeding, and they think I have endometriosis but are going to hold off going inside just yet as it's so close to the c section and they may have to take my ovary. But definitely not as heavy as before! That's not the end to our nightmare, they bought forward hubby's vasectomy due to a cancellation and went horrible wrong! They cut a blood vessel and the size of his anatomy is horrendous! We were rushed to hospital after the out of hours lady told us, "he's a man and nothing what we have to go through with child birth", well I'm afraid lady this tops that! Another hour later his bits are the size of a football, the whole groin area not just the scrotum and he's squealing in pain can't even move by this stage, so I take him to a&e at 8pm and they were cross that we never called an ambulance!! Fucking nurse!!! So they emergency rushed him to stepping hill hospital by ambulance to keep in in a special emergency unit, they've manage to control it with a heap of morphine and other drugs and strong anti inflamatories, they may have to operate! I'm going any second now to see him and possible he may come home! I cried when they took his trousers off and I saw it! It's black and it's that swollen you can't even see his penis!

I briefly looked over your past threads, deo, your a very strong person but even the strongest shouldn't keep that much stress coupes up! It will do you more harm than good! Horrible to have those memories flooding back especially when you've made such progress with getting on with your life! Sending big hugs x x x x

Cmm, a holiday is definitely what you needed! Hoping your enjoying the cold wet north but you can't beat the hills and country side! I live near Macclesfield so if your in the area I'd be delighted to go for a coffee with you, if not, I really hope you enjoy this holiday no matter what the weather! You really deserve it! Can't beat camping in the rain anyway, the noise at night when your tucked up is lovely!

Coppernoddle · 16/10/2011 19:38

Ell, poor hubby getting worse, I've had no sleep and I have three sick children! Don't think I can do this for much longer! Poor hubby, feel so upset for him, his whole down below is black now and getting bigger, the doctor that saw him this morning was the bloody doctor who did it! Who basically fibbed him off and tried to send him home! He can't do without the morphine and still can't move!
Deo, good not to dwell, sounds like your handling things the right way x x but I think it will take time!
My bleeding has slowed considerably!

Must hit sack!!!!

cmm · 17/10/2011 00:26

Coppernoddle · 17/10/2011 20:27

Well, hubby home now! Very sore and painful still but much more comfortable at home. Got heaps of painkillers. The internal bleeding is starting to come out now, he's black and bruised from his belly button right right round to his bottom! Think it going to take time to heal that one! Finding the funny side to it now as they've given him the most attractive pouch to carry his bits it!!! :) and of course all the typical joke are coming out now he's more comfortable!!! It didn't take him long and he's had me running around like a blue arsed fly!! He even asked if he can have a bell instead of calling! Even though the doctor said he has to move around!, bless him, I don't. Ind, it's lovely to have him home and not screaming and sobbing! It was awful!
Got no sleep last night again due to dd2 being sick all night, but she's been fine today and just when I thought it had all finished, I gave dd's ice-cream for pudding and dd1 just chucked again! Not the best thing to do!! So might be kissing goodbye to this nights sleep too! That will be three days with no sleep!
And all this running around, boy my pelvis is sore!!!

deo357 · 19/10/2011 08:49

hi all, hows hubby cn? & bleeding & girls !!!
ive had night from hell 4 year old been up all night chucking up so i have been up all night while hubby snoozed. stanley makes so much noise in the night grunting etc u wouldnt believe. i looked it up on the prem thread and it is typical of a prem baby. i ended up having him in with me from 3am again as i just needed to sleep & I still didnt sleep. got to limp thru the day today . health vis came yest & stanley put on 8oz !! 5lb 7oz now whoop whoop, so happy as was really worried about breast feeding and bottle as u know. no worries now so can start going 2 clinic xx

Coppernoddle · 19/10/2011 21:39

Brilliant!! 8oz, go Stanley!!! In your face health visitor!!! :)

Sleepiness nights are my worst enemy at the moment as you well know, and dealing with sick just tops the whole situation off!! I sympathise with you completely deo! Hope it's just a 24 hour thing, the girls seem to of settled down a bit now! Poor hubby, we went to the docs today for more painkillers as he's damaged and swollen around all the nerves down one side of his groin! He's now black from his hips all the way across his belly right down and under to his bottom hole, it's horrific! Still can't walk and if he does he has to carry them! At least I have two big bottles of morphine and 4 packets of codein as well as paracetamol, ibuprofen, and two sets of anti biotics! And insane amount of drugs!
Well, it's 9.30pm and for the first night in 5 it quiet in the house! I'm off to bed!!!
Cmm, hope your domg well!
Deo, hope you have a better night!

deo357 · 19/10/2011 21:51
