Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Hello to all 3 of you amazing ladies and your lovely babies. I have been following your tread and was so worried about Deo. Deo - what a bloody time you have had and after all that you are feeding Stanley. The very best of luck to you all, you are all very inspirational.

Coppernoddle · 13/09/2011 13:54

Back online!!!
Deo, I read your message this morning at 4am whilst feeding ewan, we must of posted at the same time! And my internets been down so had to use my phone! Somehow mumnset won't let me post on my phone!

I lay awake then for hours thinking about your post! Can't believe the trauma you've been through! I sent you a message on facebook but don't think you've been on that for a while! My goodness girl, your a fighter! I'm soooooo glad your fine! Told hubby aswell this morning and all he said was "flipinheck!!". What an awful thing to go through, I really hope there offering you support on getting over something like that! You lucky girl! What a horrible night mare for husband too! Really feel for him! Sending big hugs to you all and hope your all doing well!

(big sigh of relief!)

Xxxxxx

cmm · 13/09/2011 15:54

hi
sounds like I've been the same as you cn! Haven't been on line and phone plays up for allowing access sometimes, usually keep trying loads but been sleeping longer in night with Ted sleeping more!
Gosh, deo, cannot imagine... was reading it too in complete disbelief at how much youve been through. you are so brave, and your hubby too. Any thoughts on when they are going to let you out of hospital? You will have to take it easy - i know that's easier said than done with the children! Also take whatever support on offer, emotional or physical. I have to say, I still find it a bit strange and feel a bit down at times and think it prob is all the inactivity and long hosp stay, I feel so lucky to have what I have can't understand why I feel like this, hv says just what I've been through and hormones I think. Take every day as it comes enjoy looking at your new little one too! So so so pleased you're ok deo!!!!
cn - how's Ewan doing?
Ted's got his next jabs again tomorrow bless him xxx

OP posts:
Coppernoddle · 13/09/2011 19:37

Oh no! Jabs! I'm so not looking forward to those!! Ewan's good, we had his 6 week check today and got sent yo hospital for a blood test as he's still jaundice. They gave him sugar water as they did it, which he loved but is now paying the price for!, lots of tummy ache! Poor little fella! I'm going for a scan too as I'm still bleeding an it's still painful, don't know whether it's anything go do with pp but the infection didn't help! I still get loads of pain when I go to the toilet (very sorry), get shooting pain up the back and then it starts to bleed again! Thinks it's taking it's time this one!
I did bedtime routine by myself tonight, and I must say, what a nightmare! Dd1 was so naughty, ewan screaming and stressed, dd2 got hurt by dd1, not had dinner yet, can't put ewan down and got uniforms, sterilising and lunches to do! Oh the joys!! Going go sit and relax with ewan downstairs for hake an hour, get him to sleep, then run round like a mad lady!
How's Ted doing? Can't believe how fast they change from being a baby! Bet Ted looks like a proper baby now as a posed to newborn! Ewan does....sniff sniff!!
Deo how's it going today? Any better with the feeding? I think all this will hit you when you get home! Definitely take time to rest, but also you need the emotional support! You need to be strong for your boys!

Thankyou kb, think everyone who dedicates their life and body to pregnancy and birth are amazing! We all have trials, some more than others, but everyone has sometime in there lives where it gets a bit too much! Fortunately we've all had fantastic support to help us,including this thread!

On another positive note, I booked hubby into the docs today for his castration appointment!!!! Grin

Well, best get jobs done, there not going to do it themselves!

deo357 · 14/09/2011 11:00

Hi girls been moved rooms & no service again. Stanley is with me, feeding like a trooper, milks in, 54 staples being taken out today !!! And then home I hope if his temp stays normal ! V emotional this am praying all ok to go home but his temp keeps going down I can't. I can smell home. Too good 2 b true. ( biting nails madly) let me home, let me home !!!

deo357 · 14/09/2011 11:37

Oh cn I did read your comments on Facebook & chuckled to myself in your excitement !

U know after I got on to labour ward & I started hearing about what had happened I became a little scared to close my eyes in fear of something else happening, but I'm very matter of fact and feel it's time 2 move on, saw cons this am & she can't believe my recovery. I'm fighting 4 my kids to get outta here ! But never the less I shall be arriving home grateful 2 b alive & can say nothing but positive things about the amazing team that saved my life at qcch over that 36 hour period, had I been at my hospital without the radiology, the outcome wouldn't have been the same.

Will check in tomorrow & let u know if I actually got out of here !!!

Coppernoddle · 14/09/2011 12:23

That's fantastic news!! Can't believe how quickly your recovering!! Well done! Think it will be quite an emotional time going home, but really hope it's a happy one! Hope you spend all evening cuddling the boys and hubby! Get that heating on and a bottle out to celebrate!! (alcohol free Grin )
My goodness you deserve it! :)

Coppernoddle · 14/09/2011 12:23

Really looking forward to seeing more piccies on fb, he looks soooo tiny!! :)

Coppernoddle · 14/09/2011 13:45

Oh my goodness you need to see this if you have smart phones! My hubby just emailed it to me! It's very scary!!!!

Couldn't imagine if my children was stalked from their bedrooms!!!

cmm · 14/09/2011 21:33

Hi girls
Deo gosh going home, that's fantastic! Take each day as it comes though! You've been through so much. I was so pleased be home but it felt so strange and although id had five weeks in hosp, I didn't have the awful time you had. Take big care of yourself!!!!
Cn haven't seen the you tube clip will have to look!
Teds had jabs, screamed so loud bless him but just fed him straight after and is ok again now, just feeding again for a change!!! He feed all evening still!!!! Very tiring but cope as he fhen sleeps 6/8 hours now!!!! He went 1045-640 last night!!!!

Can you believe they're all here at last! And all boys!!!! Xx

OP posts:
Coppernoddle · 15/09/2011 11:28

Oooh, doe, are you home? I'm so nervous and exited for you!

Cmm, how's Ted been with his vaccinations?

cmm · 15/09/2011 16:10

Hi
Deo how you doing? You home yet? Take it easy won't you!
Cn 'ted' was fine after jabs, screamed at time but ok after. He's been weighed this morning and is 10lb 14 now! Between 2nd and 9th centile foe height and weight.
Getting moving more, so pleased. Pelvis finally moving better, hopefully yours will improve but give it time, it's 12 weeks pn for me' now! Did you find out if all ok with you? X

OP posts:
Coppernoddle · 15/09/2011 20:15

Oh snap! Ewans was weighed yesterday and he's 10.14!!!! Glad his jabs went well, I think it's the first they get most effected by! And fantastic that your pelvis is moving better, mine is definitely better the more I exercise! I've been walking the kids to school which is 15 minutes and it's definitely improving. If you look in your red book, the page before the weight chart is the pre term babies weight chart, and how to work it out! You plot it on there and then when there due date was plus two weeks (I think) you then plot onto the normal chart. You might find then he's on the higher centile. Ewans jumped from the ninth to the 75th in 4 weeks. Doctors think he was earlier than when he was delivered as both my girls were quite late, they catch up eventually docs said. But sounds like Ted is doing really well, and your feeding is going really well! I'd love a nights sleep the way Ted sleeps! :)
Not had my scan yet although think the infections coming back stronger. They are going to post me a date for my scan but can't help think it's going to be in weeks!! Everytime I slightly over do it my tummy swells and I start bleeding again! Thank goodness this is our last!!
Ewans going through a stage of wanting to be held all the time! His wind is getting worse and reflux, and keeps going for days without poo'ing. My contented little boy is not so contented any more! :( I guess it's a time and growing thing! I'm tired!!!

Just thought I'd mention, on Facebook there was a post late last night saying deo was 'home sweet home'! So hopefully she's catching up on lost time with her family! Think it would be a very emotional time for them! Hopefully Stanley is doing well with regulating his temp! I'm sure we'll here from her soon, she's got a lot of getting better to do!!

Hubby in London tomorrow, near park royal (wembly). So he's got to leave at 5 as it takes 4 hours to get there! So I'm on my own tomorrow! Crap!!! As long as the kids get to school, the rest can wait!

deo357 · 16/09/2011 21:39

Blimin mumsnet why won't it post my messages !!!!

deo357 · 17/09/2011 10:22

its driving me insane, i keep typing then it wont post !! - here goes AGAIN!!
we all home and settled in even did the school run yest !! naughty me - stanley is so good and doesnt cry or moan but still i am quite tred but no time to sleep as no 5 at nursery 8.30 til 11.30 then obviously at home so by school home time i am hanging. guess i will have to get used to it !!! waiting for midwife this am to get stanley weighed. my moby wrap arrved CN so i will try it today !!!
didnt realise u still had infection problems, with my dramas going on CN, i hope u get some answers soon??? i have just been clearing out my sanitary drawer in the bathroom as will never be needing them again !!! had no bleeding since i had him (probably no blood left!!!!) which is quite nice. desparate to get my house straight & without the capacity to do so :-( there is crap every where but must take it easy. my back is bad big time and my calf muscles r agony, not using them for so long and i have 2 flights of stairs in my house .
hope u all ok xxx

Coppernoddle · 17/09/2011 10:22

Very frustrating when it does that! Kept doing that to me when I try and use my phone!!

How are you deo now that your home?

deo357 · 17/09/2011 12:49

nice to be home CN although a bit odd & everything a big mess where other people have been "helping" !! bitch arnt i !!! still good to be back. midwife didnt come again, homebirth call out apparently. tomorrow now ??

Coppernoddle · 17/09/2011 20:53

Oh my goodness, you'd think you'd be high priority???? Not saying that home birth isn't but they'd at least make it to you that day!!!
I know what you mean about the house, it lovely to have people help but it's never right! You have to resist at looking at things thinking, that needs to be done, and just relax! There's plenty of time to sort and clean the house! Give your orders to the boys, they'll be delighted to help Grin

Coppernoddle · 17/09/2011 21:03

Oh my, just read the post above, must of typed it at the same time!

YOU HAVE TO REST!!!!!!

What you've been through, don't be running around, get help! Get someone to have ds5 after nursery a couple of times! There's been loads of offers!!! :) and don't use the wrap yet! Your not fit enough, not only that, you need the premie baby hold! Not the normal one! Go on the Internet and research it, but you will not help you getting better by using it, give yourself at least a month, at least!!!
How strange clearing out your cupboard! Must be very strange thinking no more periods! And no bleeding due to birth! Very strange!
Are you on iron tablets? Did you try that spa tone?
Make sure you eat well! It's a must!
How's the feeding going? You need to make sure you nap as much as possible if your doing all the feeding too.
How's little Stanley doing? Still waiting for more piccies!
Don't worry about me, it's nothing compared to what you've been through! I'm sure I will get it sorted soon, just frustrating as it's still sore! But docs are in no hurry! Typical!!
You'll be surprised how quickly your calf muscles will come back! Don't worry about that!
Please take it easy!! X x x x

deo357 · 18/09/2011 19:55

oh CN u nag !!!! really not use the wrap yet? i tried it on yest, didnt like the way it held him, tried it on again today and did it tighter. it felt better, i think its a knack thing ??? went out 4 dog walk today which was lovely although it rained not so good !! midwife eventually came today obvously just the weekend one, not very interested in me !!! looked at the scar & that was it. Stanley still only 4lb so not lost anymore but not put any on. she said midwfe will come tues to weigh him & if not put on may have to top him up, so not very happy. feeding is good. struggling to wake him 4 some of the 3 hourly feeds & he goes 4 hours then sometimes he feeds after 2. he feeds only 4 10/15 mins too. my boobs etc all fine, im obviously a seasoned cow !!!! getting no rest sadly & tomorrow is filled with tesco delivery & visitors, but sooner i get them out of the way the sooner i have peace. i will put some more pics of facebook soon!! he is a very lovely boy, really not a fusser & the nights r great, he is only waking about 2.30 then 6.30 so not bad really. i dont feel bothered about the whole hystorectomy thing etc. i feel more effected by being away from home for so long like CMM said. it really was awful, kids seem fine even though bossy mum is back, getting homework etc up to scratch & they were thrilled showing off their new brother on friday. no 5 is telling everyone he has 5 brothers now !!!!! & no 4 wants another one !!!!!! hope u all had a good weekend xxxx

Coppernoddle · 18/09/2011 20:32

Well deo, you sound very chirpy! Love it!!! X x and the boys sound so settled now that your at home! Glad they adore Stanley, he worth every bit of what you went through! But you really shouldn't be walking the dog!!! And get your visitors to put your shopping away!! :)
The wrap has to be tight, not too tight that they can't breath but not loose that there saggy on you! Look at the instructions and you tube, it takes a bit of practice but you'll get it! I used the sling hold where you use the folded hold and the cross over that goes underneath the other you sling them sideways in that one and put the other over the top. Make sure he's wrapped and surrounded and it's much nicer for you and him at this stage! Although you need to check that you can put premie babies in, I'm sure it's fine!
Hopefully you'll get a nicer midwife now that the weekends over! He sounds like he's feeding very well! Even to be at the same weight! Your so used to feeding that I bet he's taken to it like a duck takes to water. And fantastic that your getting reasonable nights sleep! It's about the same as ewan for times.
We've had a manic day today! It was motocross DES nations where all the countries get together and race each other. It only happens once a year so we had a big get together with friends and children! Manic wasn't the word! Nibble lunch followed by chilli rice and jackets! I've just sat down! Sooooo tired and hurting everywhere! Hubby has a sore arse he sat down for that long! Git!!! Just watching x factor now then I'm going to hit the sack! The place was trashed, every room! But we had a wonderful time and poor ewan slept through the whole thing! Feels a bit neglected now so were having smuggles on the sofa.
Going to phone the docs tomorrow, get me sorted! It's really sore! Feels like strong period pains all the time! Still bleeding :(

Hope your well cmm, hope you've had a lovely weekend x

Good night all x x x x

Coppernoddle · 18/09/2011 20:36

Bossy mums rock!!!!!

Coppernoddle · 18/09/2011 20:36

Shows we care Grin

Coppernoddle · 19/09/2011 19:48

Ewan has definitely decided to wake up now! He's been smiling and cewing all day! He's such a good boy! I could cuddle him all day!

Hope everyones doing well x x

cmm · 19/09/2011 22:53

Hi girls
Cn - oh bless him! It's so nice to get something back from them isn't it! Love it when they smile!! Ted is smiling lots too and trying making noises back too. He's so cute, very much in love with him!
Deo - how are you and little Stanley? Do hope you are both ok. bet you can't believe he is here. Hope you are ok.

I found the adjustment back to to normal life hard. If I am honest, reason haven't been on much is I've been feeling bit down... The hv reckons It's hormones and the spd and previa stress. It seems like I am only just getting back to normal, It's like emerging from months and months of being immobile or on bed rest with previa. Can't understand feeling down as 'ted' is gorgeous. Sleeps well too. Cluster feeds are hard but the trade off is the 6/8 hour sleep at night. Little girl is lovely too bless her. Hopefully will Start feeling brighter soon. Stupid really. I am Still making progress walking so that's good! Feel bad saying this deo as you had the worse time bless you. You sound so positive! Don't put too much pressure on yourself xxx
