Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Oh die, that's rubbish!! Kick some ass today!! Your going to have no sanity left at this rate! Let us know as soon as you see your con! Fingers crossed they deliver you today!!!

deo357 · 31/08/2011 11:33

So not my cons, but a cons, apparently I'm v v close 2 being delivered, bleeds r not smal, but not big, if I had been 34 weeks they would have delivered . They r holding out 4 baby. I asked about risks, & yes they r riding a wave between that at mo. If I bleed today again, they will deliver, apparently !!!!!! This is bleed no 9 at least. So here I am again, wait and c girls ! !

deo357 · 31/08/2011 11:34

Oh grade 4 pp

Coppernoddle · 31/08/2011 18:03

Eeeeh the frustration!!! How has today gone then? I've been down the park for nearly six hours!! Picnic and bikes and scooters with friends and the kids are occupied! Really hope they deliver you soon, I think it's going to happen in the next day or so, there edging that way now! Not long now!!! Chin up and be positive, your doing so well deo, very strong lady!!!

cmm · 31/08/2011 20:04

Oh deo, keep strong, like cn said you're doing so well. Mine was a grade 3 apparently. Thinking of you lots. Remember how hard it is and you've had more bleed than me, think I had 4/5 fresh ones and bled inbetween and I honestly can feel your stress and anxiety but know I was a bit further on. My hv that's coming tomorrow delivered early with pp, she was in from 28 weeks I think. Will keep checking online. Big hugs x

Hope you've had visitors this evening deo, make you relax a little! Any news?

How are you cmm? How's little Ted? Not so little any more I bet? Ewan has changed so much since 4 weeks ago! It's crazy!
Any tis on getting little ew to settle himself in the cot without being rocked to sleep or is it just a waiting game? Am I wanting too much too soon? Starting putting him to bed when the girls go to bed although it's taking a little while to settle him, I guess I should keep persevering with it!

Deo, thinking of you x x x x

deo357 · 31/08/2011 23:31

deo357 · 01/09/2011 09:43

Hi, still here! No bleeding in the night. On the next bleed it's delivery ( apparently) that's the plan. Looking forward 2 seeing kids today.
Have u tried swaddling Ewan & putting him down ? Chat later xxx

Coppernoddle · 01/09/2011 10:55

Oooh, let's hope it's soon then! Glad you can see the kids today too! Not long now and you'll be home with them!
Ewan doesn't like being swaddled! I tried music last night which seemed to work! Perceverance is the key!!!

deo357 · 01/09/2011 18:11

Saw kids today, tried to send nanny off 4 coffee, but she was like no it's fine, I was thinking hint hint . Go away. I just wanna c my kids ! No 2 wasn't himself kept saying he needed me home & how long & he missed me. So hard. And still no f ing end date. Been in a week now, feels like 4 ever. Bit fed up today & just so tired. Someone get me off this roller coaster please.

cmm · 01/09/2011 19:45

Hi there
Deo, can't believe its been a week, it seems so long doesn't it, and when you don't have a date know it's hard, I can't believe I did nearly 5 weeks in hosp! Have you a private room? From your pattern of bleeds I feel sure that they will expect to be delivering you soon... It's hard as I remember Almost wanting it to happen to deliver yet not because it's scary and didn't want me or baby to suffer. But you are in the best place from a point of view that they have experience in pps and acreta. It's just hell i know. Keep thinking of your little one... The relief when the placenta is out is overwhelming. I keep checking to see if you've delivered... Will check during night when feeding!
Cn - had better day with pelvis, wonder if my Bowen has helped! Ted has gone from 8,15 to 10.7 in three weeks!!!! Amazing! Little girl was 17 weeks before at this weight, ted is ten weeks!! Haven't got 'ted' in bedtime routine yet but will work on when lois back at school, currently he feeds and naps all night but then sleeps so well from about 1030, usually for 4-5 hours! So, can't complain really! Have to try to express too as can't get out on evening!!!!
How's Ewan today? Xx

OP posts:
Coppernoddle · 01/09/2011 21:33

Poor ewan's got the sniffles!! He's been very unsettled today, windy, sicky, and struggling to poo but all came out before bath but this cold is making him feel miserable! Me too!! Wow, what a weight! I think it's a boy thing as ewan was 7.2 birth weight, down to 6.8 the second week, 3rd week 7.5!!! So put back on plus more, 4th week 9!!! Nearly 2 lb in one week! Must be a boy thing! Sounds like Ted is getting some lovely milk from his mummy! And 4-5 hours is great! Ew's still only doing three, but not bothered really as hubby has some of the feeds (10 + 5, and still moans) and I do the night feeds. So at least I get a bit of a chunk! Oh, with the expressing, I found morning to be my best time! Do it the same time every day and it'll expect!

Deo, hang in there! I'm positive it'll happen sooner rather than later! I hate it when people don't get the hint! Just do what I do and be blunt! But politely! "do you mind if I spend some time on my own with my children please?" I'm sure she'll understand!
Get some rest and speak to you in the morning! Hopefully with some good news!!! X x x x x take care x x x x

deo357 · 01/09/2011 21:44

Oh I am a blunt person but trying not 2 b to her ! No action today just brown, tick tock tick tock !
I am the queen of getting my babies 2 sleep thru, the latest has been 10 weeks. I'm a gina ford night time routine girl !
I'm on a ward cmm. They will not give their private rooms here. & haven't been nagging as I'm up & down 2 labour ward so much ! It's £400 per night 4 a room, this is London , world renowned mat hosp !!! Shame I'm staring at wormwood scrubs out of my window ! Fingers crossed 4 action tonight girls ! Xxx

Coppernoddle · 02/09/2011 08:16

Wow!! £400!!! It's only £70 at our hospital!!!
Never looked into Gina ford! He's doing well though! So far so good! I guess the last thing you want to do is piss your nanny off!! My girls start school Tuesday, are yours the same? Have you got everything ready? Let's hope things are semi sorted by then, might be a little emotional for the boys! You need to ring the school and give them heads up on what's happened over the holidays so they can plan for them! They'll be there today, if not, defo Monday!
I'm going to start taking bets now on when you deliver, it can't be long now! Get walking mrs!! What day do you hit 33 weeks? Can't believe you've made it this far! Well done you! You deserve the biggest medal ever! Or the nicest bottle of champers!!! Grin

I'm going to keep checking throughout the day an I reason it'll be in the next 24 hrs!! Be strong! Your on the homeward stretch!!! Big hugs x x x

Coppernoddle · 02/09/2011 15:14

Well, I'm guessing since we haven't heard from you for a good few hours that they've delivered you!! I really hope so!! X x x x x

cmm · 02/09/2011 20:09

The suspense is killing me!!!!

Coppernoddle · 03/09/2011 21:31

Oh cmm! Just remembered! Deo will have no signal on the post natal ward, she had to go outside to get reception! She got reception on delivery, but not on the ward! I'm really hoping her op went well and no hysterectomy, and baby doing well at 32 weeks! So nervous for her!! I'm friends with her on facebook so I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything!! Without spilling all her news! She'll be looking forward to that :)

I tried to feed ewan today, return to feeding! It's been a week now! I have milk, no probes but the pain was something else!! I was crying within 5 minutes, I guess the thrush is still very high still! Doctors on Monday!! Would love to do it again but don't want to upset ewan's routine and stress him out with feeding! I think I'm just going to have to admit defeat! What a heartache! One minute I've made up my mind, the other I'm still deciding!,
How's Ted doing? You'll be having your second jabs soon? Hope the feedings going well! X x x

cmm · 03/09/2011 22:48

Hi cn
Thanks for messages! Yes, feels so strange not hearing from her! Hope she's ok. Keep wondering.... Surely she's had the baby now bless her. Feel awful that haven't replied re facebook.... But Know you said you'd understand if I just kept contact on here. I have honestly loved keeping contact on here and will keep logging on. Will you keep on mn as if so could private message you both from time to time too xx

Ted is doing great, jabs in two weeks again. Have you got an advisor for bf? Never had thrush though, must be awful. How's he sleeping? Xx

Hi both of you just checking in again to say we're thinking of you deo xxxxx

Had another good nights sleep with ted, from 1130 to 6.00!!! He does feed literally all night though until our bedtime!
Cn - did you feed the girls? Seem to think you did. I found it so hard last time but both times have the bf counsellor who is amazing. Saying that don't beat yourself up if you cant. The fact you're both safe and well is most important!

Pelvis has been finally getting better last couple of days, yippee!! Think might have done too much yesterday though as it really hurts as I've got up now... So stiff on pelvis bum and hips! Went to a village fair then BBQ at home. How are you? Xx

Coppernoddle · 04/09/2011 08:11

No probs cmm, it's nice to log on here and catch up!!
Ewan sleep well at night now he's on the bottle! He feeds at 11,2 and 5! So guaranteed sleep! Hubby takes some of the feeds which is lovely! After the pain of trying to bf yesterday I'm not going to try again! I spoke to a bf helpline and it would take a good month of skin to skin and sitting on my butt to get back to where I was! I don't have that time! And I don't want to stress ewan out now!the only way I can describe thrush is when they latch on, about a minute later, it feels like lots of bee stings in your breast, agony!!!! That gets worse and worse as you feed! Then after you've finished it feels like you've been kicked in the breast and it's on fire!!! Never felt pain like it!!
Glad teds doing well. That's fantastic how long he sleeps for! And that's fantastic. News about your pelvis! Finally!!
Exercise I found works! Little and often!
