Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Ewan's first moto x meeting and he sleeps through it!!! Typical!!!
Maybe if I play the sound of a 450 tonight he might let me sleep!!!

deo357 · 21/08/2011 16:38

oh dear cn - not a good night - i know what u mean with the lonliness as i felt that in hosp & a bit when i got home as i kept going to bed & hubby would stay up so i was still on my own & he has been working solid so long days without him, just varying helpers which im so bored of. nanny is great and she does a bit of cleaning but i cant exactly ask her to scrub the loo's can i !!! landing now finished being decorated. hall to be done then hubby can lay the carpets & waiting for next to deliver lights. then only blinds/curtains to go, its just getting the time to paint the stairs with out houseful as we are having a runner down the stairs but the gloss stays wet for so long!!!!
cmm - at least u r are having a little change of scenery, must be nice to all pile away in the motorhome ??

cmm · 21/08/2011 22:21

That's funny re motor x!!! Not so funny when no sleep at night. Ted been really unsettled today, wonder if it's because I drank lot of fresh orange
Felt than yesterday in pelvis and weather amazing
In bed now. Feeding ted
again, can hardly stay awake!
How are you both ? Xx

Well, tis is the fourth time I've tried to post, got half way through and gave up! Having a very emotional day today, extremely tired, no milk and hubby went to work! Fortunately hubby came home at lunch time and stayed! Gosh, this baby lark, you'd think being my third I'd of nailed it by now!! I have no idea what's going on with my milk, I successfully breastfed both the girls and this ones just gone tits up completely! I've tried expressing, feeding on that side every time to get it to work again and nothing, and now the other ones stopping too! Health visitor said it maybe because my iron count is low but also my cortisol levels are low as I'm borderline addison's disease and have worsened in the last year and a half! My body is just not up to it anymore hence why so poorly too in pregnancy! So, we've decided to go to bottle. One to give ewan some food, poor little thing was starving! Two, hubby can help at night time, and three, the girls want nice mummy back, not crying stressful no sleep mummy! Don't want post natal depression like I got after Emily, it was awful! But what a hard decision to make! I've not stopped crying today with all the guilt of stopping feeding, hey make you feel like such a failure! Brainy kids, bonding, good for you, good for baby, etc etc! I feel terrible! Would ewan miss his mummy boob time? Would he bond just as well, will he be bright like the girls? What a mind f**k!!

Deo, how have you been today? Sounds like your starting to get on top of things! I want to have hubby time too, miss him loads! How can two people live in one house and see little of each other! Thought having babies was family bonding time! Can be quite the opposite!
Cmm, has Ted slowed down on his feeding yet! I'm envious! Weather lovely again today but going to change by tomorrow!! Poo isn't it!

deo357 · 22/08/2011 15:29

Oh cn poor u. Don't beat yourself up. That's life, I have fed some of mine & not others. My brainiest child was boob fed for one day only ! So obviously didn't effect him & he's "gifted & talented" !!! Worse things could happen as I like to say. U r all well, there is nothing wrong with Ewan & that's all that matters . Happy mum, happy kids. At least u can get Ewan in a good routine & hubby can help u out. Think of the positives.
All ok with me, kept thinking I was bleeding last night & wasn't, paranoia kicking in. Had a terrible night , we had a curry & although I didn't have heartburn I was so full I couldnt move !!! Hospital next on Thursday, so we will c what happens by then. Xxx

deo357 · 22/08/2011 15:31

And by the way cn. As u know I have 5 kids & never struggled so much with potty training as i did with no 5 so u can never " crack it" each kid is different xxx

Coppernoddle · 22/08/2011 19:48

Thanks deo! You've made me feel miles better!! Think there's too much pressure on breastfeeding and being the perfect mother! Everyone says "oh this is your third, you know what your doing by now!!"
That's good that you've had no bleeding! Hopefully you'll sleep better tonight! You gotta love eating to pop nights!! I've just had one of those!!! Never ate Chinese as fast as I have tonight in fear of ewan waking up! Can't wait to here what they say on Thursday!
Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight!!! Fingers crossed x x x

deo357 · 22/08/2011 20:00

glad i tried to help. listen, worse things could happen, u r actually doing the best for ewan, by going to bottles anyway. have a good eve xxx

cmm · 22/08/2011 22:57

Oh cn just got your posts now, agree with deo, you have to do what best for you all. Ultimately if you're not well that isn't good for you, Ewan or the rest of the family!!!! Even though like you I have breastfed before you have to look at the overall situation. Hope you're a little less teary. It's awful when you feel down. After everything you've been through, the main thing is keeping well, and enjoying Ewan and the family!
Deo, remember that, am I fresh bleeding check..it is a nervy time. Do hope your scan goes ok thurs.
Well we are all still in the Moho as we call it. Having lovely time. Walked a lot more than have done for ages today, painkillers which helped. Pelvis been bit better. Still the feet even still hurt! Generally still get sore but at long last think Spd might be on the mend! the weather has been gorgeous been picnics and the pizza express today too. Lois has loved playing onsite and at the park next door!
Hope you both get ok nights! X

No don't b silly , I meant u can c the sense in things when it's someone else !

Coppernoddle · 23/08/2011 18:35

Cmm, that's good news about the spd! Maybe more exercise is working! Building the muscles up stronger to support the pelvis! And that's too for the advise on feeding, last night was much better, got more sleep! One boob feels a little engorged today so need to find a way on how to stop! Ewan a lot more sicky on this milk but think it's because he pigs himself out! Feels so much better today now had a little more sleep, makes all the difference! Went for a lovely walk today just me and ewan down to weighing and through the village, then picked up the girls at lunch, and just played in the street the rest of the afternoon! Got the bikes and scooters out, paroled my deckchair on the path, ewan fast asleep in the pram joined by my next door neighbour! We looked a right pair! Lovely sunny day! Mmmm, oizza express is lovely! May have to take a trip there soon!
Deo, I feel sorry for you and the spd! On top of everything else it's the last thing you need! Let's hope it won't get to bad before birth! Keep them moving as much as you sensibly can! After I lay down too long they would seize up! Am really hoping for a good scan for you! I'm looking forward to stopping feeding now, I have a lovely bottle of bubbly in the fridge waiting for me and hubby! Our local restaurant which is lovely, on a Wednesday you can take tour own bottle! Think we might have to go out and celebrate the birth of ewan and a gorgeous family! It's been a long time since we've had a night together!
I feel that when all this is over, we should have a party ourselves! Might be difficult being all in different parts of the country, but would be a brill night out!
Hubby has taken the girls to the driving range, I've got Jamie Oliver on the tele with ewan asleep on my chest! Loving it!!!

deo357 · 23/08/2011 21:39

Cn - u sound much more jolly today & sounds like a good day had too. I have had a good day too been out at friends all day so actually feel normal for once. Bit peeved that I got home & hubby had eaten my steak & not made dinner 4 me & kids just himself. So I didn't stop tonight. Omg I am sooo huge I can't tell u. I've put on 3 stone , but the belly is huge, I have no photos must take some!
A girls night out us 3 sounds good, such a shame we r far apart. I forget where u live cmm? I will pm u both my details on Facebook, lets make friends on there too !! Have a good night all x

Coppernoddle · 24/08/2011 10:59

Yes facebook! I can put faces to you both!
It's amazing what a little sleep can do! Got a good touting going at the mo! I go to bed at 9, hubby has him downstairs and bottle feeds him the 11 feed then when he wakes at 2 ish he brings him upstairs so hubby can get the same amount of unbroken sleep! Soon, hopefully, we'll be sleeping back together soon!!! No rush though as he's started snoring!!!!! :)
Glad you got out deo, drives me nuts being in the house, especially when you can't clean it! Can't believe hubby! You need to go to the butchers, buy yourself the nicest steak, hide it, then eat it slowly in front of him!!!! Meany!!! My hubby does the same, can't have anything nice to eat myself! If it's in the kitchen, it's free for taking! On Easter he let's me lie in and when I get up he's used all my eggs to make cornflakes cakes with! Every year!!! Next year, will be very different!! Hehehehehe!!
Going to attempt a picnic today!!!fingers crossed it doesn't rain!!!! Hope you have a good day too deo, and you cmm, hope Ted has settled down a little now x x x

Coppernoddle · 25/08/2011 11:59

Well, just been to docs and have an infection in my scar, womb etc, thrush in my boobs (ouch) and dermatitis on my Hand!! Doing well so far today!! Cmm, how are you getting on?
Deo, scan, tell tell tell!!!!

deo357 · 25/08/2011 15:18

hi. oh no CN any thing else !!!! poor u, u must be wincing away !!!!

been to hospital to c consultant. basically, nothing new, the plan is still to sit and wait, she wont book section, now the odds of having placenta accreeta are now 50% as no test/scan/mri is conclusive. still have to have baby in london. & iron still plumetting so she is going to arrange for me to have iron via IV drip next week at my old hospital. now they r not seeing me in london til 34 weeks, unless im in before with bleeding. so , what more can i say, this is going on forever. im gonna start planning to get on with my life though. it could potentially be 5 weeks til delivery & i cant keep living like this its been 4 1/2 weeks already. nanny here til end of next week then that finishes as kids will be going back to school, cant keep having chaperone til 36 weeks, so ill just have people on call instead. what a summer !! s**t is the word !!!!

Coppernoddle · 25/08/2011 20:10

Oh deo, that's crap!! Maybe just getting on with things will pass the time a little faster! I had to do the 24 hour watch for a week and that was hard enough! Just getting people to be with you when they have things to do makes you feel really guilty and awkward! Maybe when the boys have gone back to school, you go to other peoples houses for cups of tea. Then your getting out and socializing at the same time! On the positive side, at least your not back and forward to London every other day and your still at home which is amazing! I didn't think you would be still at home now! Just concentrate on enjoying this time with your boys and getting things done (sensibly). Get sewing those name labels in their uniforms! :)
Good about the iron drip! I used spa tone in my pregnancy which is very good, no side effects like taking iron as it's a natural water. Maybe think about taking it as anyone can, because it's natural!
I've been on an emergency bottle buying spree to sainsbury's and milk and my midwife today said just stop! No more boob at all and it might be sore for a day or so but then will be fine. I'm already on antibiotics for infection so won't get mastitis so I have a concoction of tablets and creams and a cabbage!!! Wish me luck, there already bursting out of my bra, picking ewan up hurts! Might have to give him to hubby tonight! Hehehehehe!!

deo357 · 25/08/2011 20:59

whats spa tone?? never heard of it ??? where do u get it?? glad your boobies r getting better, think of all that sleep youll have !!! yes im gonna plod on at hope 4 the best really, happy that im not admitted, but feel like this is never ending and the stress !!!

deo357 · 26/08/2011 06:50

Well after my risk level being lowered I had a bleed at midnight woke up soaked . Rude London hosp insisted I went to local hosp so am back here ( secretly ) happy !!! All settled over night though so am sure they will keep me in anyhow . Let's c what happens today

Coppernoddle · 26/08/2011 13:39

Oh no, I jinxed you!!! I should of shut my trap!!!! That's not going to do your anxiety any good keeping waking thinking you've bled! It always seems to happen at nightime too, I wonder why? Although I am happy that your back at your local hospital, maybe they'll speak to each other and give them advise on the best thing to do. Would there consultants visit you there?

Boobs are like like massive hot air balloons! I look like something off the adult channel, there Huge, hard and bursting at the seams! I've just had a hot bath with was lovely but as soon as you get out the pain comes back! So, going to sleep in the bath tonight!!! Going to put ewan in his own room tonight so hubby can come back to bed and will be easier to do bottle feeds without disturbing each other! Need to get him into a routine now!
Well, still not dressed! :)

Coppernoddle · 26/08/2011 13:52

Oh spa tone! A natural iron mineral water! Better than than iron tablets! No side effects. It's a little sachets of water you put in fresh orange juice (vit c to absorb) and that's it! My midwife recommended it to me! I'll see if I can find a link!

Coppernoddle · 26/08/2011 13:54

You can get it from holland and bar rats and I think sainsbury's too.

deo357 · 26/08/2011 14:41
