Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Oh deo, so sorry to hear you've bern back in. Didn't like to say but I did bleed every day I was in, used to have fresh red bleeds four in total, but inbetween they tapered off eventually to brown with lots of shades on between (sorry tmi!) until I had another fresh red bleed. Some days it would go to practically nothing then start browner. Guess it takes ages to come away fully. The other thing I was once told was that after thirty weeks it's the time it moves if it does and therefore the time more likely to bleed, therefore hopefully given you're under thirty and it isn't completely covering the cervix it might not bleed as much at the moment. Do hope so. Guess I want to try and reassure that it can be normal for the bleeding to go on and on but always always best to check with drs. Know it's hard as it's living with that uncertainty each day I guess.
Any news on the nanny. It would be a real help knowing you've got that support.
Thinking of you lots. I really do empathise.... It still feels like a horrid dream to me and I keep looking at little man and can't believe he's been through that. Did i say my health visitor had pp, went in at 27 weeks and delivered I think 32/34 weeks... All ok in the end. She's helped me talk through things too.
Cn - not long!!!! How you feeling? How's spd now? Willing the days on for you!!!! Not long till you hold him.
My birthday today! Just in bed feeding, little girl still asleep as late night, think she was wrapping a pressie! X

hope you have a great sunny fun filled spoilt day with lots of goodies x x

Cmm, deo has accreta so it won't move! My heads all over the place today! Ver nervous about c section, can't wait to see baby, enjoying my sleep, in too much pain, breastfeeding, crutches when baby comes out, shit, there's going go be five of us, I'm having an operation, I'm not bringing baby into the world naturally, mugging kids baby and op! Aaaarrrrrr!!!! Bit emotional today!! And not ever being pregnant again! Just trying go enjoy my tummy while I can, all those funny shapes he makes it! But can't wait for this pain to be over!
Deo, does your mother give you a lot of grief? Tell you how to run the joint? At least you've got some help now! And get our nanny sorted asap, one thing off your mind incase you go in again soon! Oh, I've driven all the way through! Was never told not to! But vie never had any big bleeds!
You need to spend a little quality time with little one! It may effect him more than you think! And after all, he won't be your baby anymore! I'm sure you know what to do! Poor little thing! Lots of cuddles in store!!

deo357 · 27/07/2011 09:40

HAppy Birthday to you CMM ! Have a lovely day !!
cmm - yes when i had a bleed @17 i had brown for ages. & i was expecting it after 4 days in bed in hosp, but i was told to go back in if anything so i did. & doc/cons wasnt fussed but registrar made a fuss. sick of different advice all the time. so have left again on advice that if just a bit browny mess thats ok, if red straight back. I think im slowly excepting my in out status !. I just feel like baby is better out than in in my position with accreta/prev scar tissue/adherent bladder/risk of rupture. 30 weeks would b about right. prem baby but safe baby!

Had a few people come back to me about nanny & waiting for friend with aupair contacts to get back from france tom ! as i said before im ok for this week & next then lots of friends away & gets tricky.

CN - me & mum had a big row on phone mon night & clearly she cant move on ! so she is here today tensions high & we r not speaking. she is just as bossy as me !!! Sorry u r in so much pain. u can do it. reality of going in for op can be scary, esp as u have never had section before. but really its ok, just think how many pep have sections these days. u will be surprised. its the spd that will be the pain. its worth it to get your boy! im giving little one lots of time but he is stuck to hubby Sad!! just wish i could pick him up etc .

Coppernoddle · 27/07/2011 12:38

Sound like your very in control of everything and very aware of what's going on with little one! I'm sure it'll all work out! As for mother, think it's probably good she's here today as it'll get you two talking again! I know they can be Iain in the arses sometimes but when we really need them, there's nothing like mum Smile hope you manage to get out and enjoy some of this weather were having! It may not last long or you might be in hospital through it! Well, were picnicking on the rec again and the kids are having a wonderful time with grandma! She's one in a million! Just a shame she won't be at the birth for this one, she was with both the girls! But the week after she taking it off again so gets to spend alot of time with us all again! I'm really enjoying this week! So relaxing and lots of lovely company! Been spoilt this week!!

Coppernoddle · 27/07/2011 21:04

Hope you had a lovely day cmm!

Deo, hope you've had a lovely day too and made up with your mum! May of been emotional I imagine!! No news is good news I hope x x

Speak to you both in the morning x x x

deo357 · 27/07/2011 21:13

hi CN, no shitty day with shitty mother !!!!!!!!!!!!! she stomped all day & so did i ! we are as tough as each other dont fall out very often because if we do its big. long story for a glass of wine. but shes a tough one & i am a very independant person & have managed without her for far to long to let it bother me. so , 3 friends popped by with cake & choc today & baby suits ! so that was lovely & ive seen my kiddys lots. still struggling getting help, waiting for some more responses but most peps are busy , even friends who run a childminding business are fully booked . so im gonna keep hunting. hope u r feeling a bit better too. chat tomorrow xxx

Coppernoddle · 28/07/2011 08:07

Oh dear!! What a shitty day! Well, hopefully today will be better! Maybe giving in and being the bigger person is required here!! The less stress the better! You don't need all this right now! You may also need mother on your side for help. I know it's hard and horrible to back down but it would prove that your more mature and don't let things bother you!
Gorgeous day again today, so make the most of the sunshine again! It nice having friends over, especially when the bring goodies!! :)
Well, kids in swimming club today for two hours in order for me and mil to get shopping done and fill the freezer ready for the week ahead! All of a sudden I have heaps to do!, got all the sewing on the uniforms to do too! At least the house is clean, washings all done, cleaners are booked and kids will be looked after I feel reasonably happy!

Oh gosh, I've just realised!! I've hit 38 today!!!!!! Whooohooooo!!! Can't believe I made it!! Wow! I still don't think it's hit me, I'm having a baby on Monday!!

Will catch up with you later, and remember, LESS STRESS!!!!!

deo357 · 28/07/2011 08:41

you r so organised girl, with only minor bits to go, whoop whopp love it, thats what im normally like. i must get shopping online next week for baby stuff & school stuff im missing !
i know what your saying about mum we'll see. shes not due to help til next thurs now !! (this is what i mean) so time apart is good. gonna call my auntie today who i havent told about any of this & im sure she will be up for helping too although she lives by gatwick (1hr) away. but she would go on the schedule for coming over for a day here or there. 2 nights in my bed bliss! every day is a bonus !!!!! so excited 4 u CN!!!! boys all going out today to play so home alone with the phone. although 1 has decided to stay with me ?? dont c why not . have a good day xxx

Coppernoddle · 28/07/2011 13:52

Bloodynora I've done the biggest shop of my life!!!! (well, mil) £280!!!!!! Hubby is going to go mad!!! But it's a nice feeling that the freezer is full of fresh stuff, fridge full and cupboards bulging!! And relax!!!!

Good that your having a little time to yourself, even if one of them is with you! I love my own company! Get shopping! At least while your at home, you can see what you need rather than visualising it in hospital! Pregnacy brain is crap!! Make your self a big shopping list! I can't do anything without lists now!

Well, were on honey roast ham tonight!! Mil just started boiling it now! I'm such a lucky girl!! Think were going to make a crumble too with the girls when they've finished making there 'perfume' with water and all the flowers in the garden :(

deo357 · 28/07/2011 20:26

Ha ha well kids won't starve ! It all sounds v under control at your house !

I've come in to hosp again tonight , v small dark red blood so thought at it's not brown i must go , had to make myself walk out that door . So this time hubby stayed 30 mins & went , great ! Soon he won't even come in . So frustrating hey but 2 nights in my bed is good . Hubby frustrated as he is in middle of big job but that's life . May b out Tom or sat if nothing else . X

cmm · 28/07/2011 20:40

Wow, you are definitely so organised!!! That's great!! Bet you can't believe c day is nearly here, will you have your phone in hosp to send a message on here?

I am ok but struggling with recovery which really gets me down. Without s doubt better than I was but trying to a bit more and just really struggling with pain over pubic bone and back and in tum. I feel I have to keep doing bits as do feel stronger but when I try and I am so so sore after. Frustrating as want to be out with my little ones and hate being reliant on people. Have health visitor tomorrow. Who think I said also had spd and pp and hosp stay so understands, then six week check Monday. Hoping i can try to drive then as it would help just getting out on my own even if just on my own steam to friends. Have booked onto baby massage classes on a a couple of weeks too!

Deo - how are things this aft. Sp sorry as had forgot you have acreta and other complications.... Like you say, it really is week by week, Is it a fortnight to 30 weeks?

Had lovely birthday... Can't remember if I said but my hubby got my mum to babysit, got me to dress up, thought he was taking me out which I was a bit worried as tired and feeding ted loads! Anyway, he them took me into our tidy lounge and had set a table, champ on ice although obviously could only hsve smidge!, lit candles, flowers there, music playing,so amazing, and then... He'd ordered food from our face Italian! They don't do take out but he agreed with them to plate up our dishes and then asked a friend to collect and deliver!!!! He thanked me for our new baby and we even had little slow dance! How romantic!!!! Ted joined us half way through main course but it didn't matter!!!!! So, very lovely birthday!!! X

cmm · 28/07/2011 20:44

Oh deo, our messages have crossed didn't realise you're in again...you've done the right thing as hard as it is, I reckon if they'd discharged me I would have been like that, eg in and out, as mine went between brown, dark red and fresh red all the time. What they saying at hospital? Xx

OP posts:
deo357 · 28/07/2011 22:48

Oh Cmm what a lovely birthday treat from your hubby !! So sweet. The only time I really suffered with pain for a while after the birth with section I had an infection & got on the anti b's . R u sure u don't have that ? Well hosp not bothered cons said old blood as dark ( well as not bothered as they can b with me ) canula in again just incase ! But it was tiny bit & nothing since , did an internal 2 c where blood was coming from & def thru cervix (ie placenta) like u say Cmm it's gonna b in out etc but hey ho for now I'd rather go home as deliv too far away . We could b looking at 32 weeks now I was told tonight ? Nearly 28 now xx

cmm · 29/07/2011 00:13

Oh bless you... I remember the canula! So so painful aren't they!!!! Guess they are keeping taking blood too for cross matching? I had that every three days or so. Hopefully if you are in out then time will go quicker. Is there a neo natal sept at same hosp? Xx

OP posts:
cmm · 29/07/2011 04:02

Well, been feeding for yet another hour just now, middle of the night! Came to bed early with the pain, he slept from about ten till nearly twelve, then fed for 30 mins then slept till around two thirty ish the. Has only just gone back! But if I can get back to sleep and he does another three hours that won't be too bad!!!!
Deo - when I said time pass quicker in and out hosp I meant quicker than if in hosp for four weeks as being with children helps time go quicker!!!
Best try to get back to sleep! Xx

OP posts:
deo357 · 29/07/2011 07:40

Cmm - wow that's a lot of feeding ! U must b knackered ! Seriously speak to hv about infection today cause of pain . Yes time is going quicker in& out & at least I c kids . Think I may have sorted the nanny sit . Friends sister is a nanny between jobs , all boxes ticked , but she's in Scotland for a couple more days so can't speak to her !! Fingers crossed . There is a amazing neonatal here one of the best & I've had 2 of mine in there before so know the drill . Last night reg was saying maybe get to 32 now ! It's always something diff ! One good thing they said is as it's acreeta too they know it won't abrupt because it's stuck , so one less thing . Had night from he'll . Went on ward with women , 3 , all in labour , huffing & puffing moaning on ctg & chucking all night . It was like torture . At 2.30am they moved me to a room then I couldn't sleep so friggin tired today now . I hope I may c my consultant today & discuss things . Xx

Coppernoddle · 29/07/2011 10:06

Deo, sorry to here your in again! It got to the point when I was in and out of hospital were hubby would drop me off at the door, and then the last time he never even came back from work and I had to get a next door neighbours to drive me in!! Made me mad!!! I know he has work to do but that takes the piss!! That's good news about the accreta, I didn't think of that one! It can't come away! We filmed my belly last night as it was dancing all over the place! It was hilarious! My girls never moved this much! I think he. Has a lot of room in there too so legs are all over the place, it's lovely to see and I'm going to miss it!

deo357 · 30/07/2011 13:54

Am home forgot that feeling of nervousness after leaving hosp after a few days .

Coppernoddle · 30/07/2011 15:08

Glad your home!! Such a gorgeous day!! It's kinda a good thing that you feel nervous, in a way, as if your in again soon, you won't feel as bad about it! :)
Although it's a lovely day, I'm sat inside on the sofa watching tv about to nod off! We went down the rec and was in so much pain we had to abort mission! I can't sit anywhere but my sofa now for comfort!! Maybe I should ask hubby to carry it outside for me!! Grin
yes cmm, how did you get on at the docs? Hope they get you sorted soon!! No fun being in pain! You can't just get on with things and enjoy them!

The cast sounds fun deo, although you have to store it!! Bet it'd be a right laugh doing it!!
Right, nap time!! Speak later x x x
