Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Good, it's good to have a plan! Don't worry, it's out of your hands now so sit and relax is the best things you can do! Enjoy the time with hubby and children and the lovely weather why it lasts! Take every day at a time!
It is a lot to take in, you spend so much time worrying about your pregnancy that you forget to embrace it! :)

deo357 · 30/07/2011 19:34

says she thats having hers in one and a bit days !!!! u can embrace now theres an end !!!

Coppernoddle · 31/07/2011 08:34

Lol!!! :) I'm sorry!! I know what you mean! Think the thought of it's finally over is hitting home abit! Hehehe!

Got a lovely surprise this morning when opening the pantry cupboard to get cereal out for the girls, was hit my this flesh rotting smell that was the most discusting thing you've ever smelt!! Then realised that when I filled up the freezer on thursday, me and mil stock rotated the stuff to put the old stuff at the top to be used first and left a carrier back out of chicken, pork, meatballs and and open bag of prawns that had dripped all over the floor!!! Propper rank!!! Confused blur blur!!!

I'm on bedsheets and injections today! Then were all going out for a family meal at the lovely pub near us which has a maze for the kids, it's lovely and relaxing!

Are you up to anything nice today? Going to be a nice day again today!!

deo357 · 31/07/2011 14:17

deo357 · 31/07/2011 18:27

god my typing is so bad i cant read it myself !

Coppernoddle · 31/07/2011 20:20

I'm in for 8am so dropping girlies off at 7.30 at a friends house! Been abit mad today, been stressing at hubby all day, keep crying uncontrollably, lovely meal out with family, then complete carnage for bed time, dd1 decided to kick dd2 in the windpipe whilst she was on the toilet having a poo!! So I few at her, sent her to her room, she went banging into the door frame bruising her arm, trying to sort dd2 out who's propper crying whilst trying to tell dd1 off for nearly killing her sister!! So settled dd2 down, apologised to dd1 whilst explaining for the fifth time this week why we don't hurt necks!!! And breath!!!

Gosh! What a day!!!

Had my injections today so I'm all ready to go!! Bags by the front door, just need to trim nails and put my care plan in my bag! It's worse than packing to go on holiday! Trying to make sure hubby gets it right leaving notes everywhere, I'm sure it's going in one ear and out the other!

Glad you've had a nice day today, getting the decorating finished is definitely a step in the right direction! You'll feel much better once you have a lovely new hall and stairs to look at!!

Well, I'm going to relax now with hubby, next time I speak to you I'll have a baby!!! :) have a lovely day or so and I'll try and get on asap to let you know how I got on! I promise I won't leave you deo, can't wait to tell you my news!!!! Don't do anything drastic while I'm off for the day!! X x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x

Not big but fresh . Very miserable & feeling v tearful . SadSadSad. Hoping they will deliver me by 30 weeks will know more in next few days .

cmm · 02/08/2011 14:22

Oh deo it is so miserable I know.... Seriously I had some really teary days. Seeing the fresh blood is just awful. When's your MRI? And when will thirty weeks again? I was told that it is prob the most difficult complication to have in preg and completely understandable to be upset. It's not knowing when it will be. You want baby out but at the same time needs to be in as long as poss to mature. You've had the steroids right? I felt so rubbish like I wasn't able to help the baby and all felt really surreal. Keep going and try to take each day as you can. If you know you're def staying in, try to get a private room and set up things around you, books, mags, portable DVD player. Having said that I was so tired from not sleeping on a night and I guess the stress that I didn't do much but dipped in and out of it and also took time over showers and cleansing face. It really is a day by day thing. You'll get there. Take care and keep us updated x

deo357 · 02/08/2011 15:23

I'm 28 plus 3 at mo . Still on ward all private rooms full . It is awful . Yes had steroids . Remember I have more complications too . MRI supposedly tom now ?? I have a bathroom phobia so can't shower here !!!! Gonna try & sneak home 4 an hour Tom just to have a shower quick . It makes me physically gag in a place like this !!!!!!!!! Too hot in here today can't breathe . Never been so miserable SadSadSadSad boys coming in soon so that will cheer me up 4 an hour. Thanks Cmm xxx

deo357 · 02/08/2011 15:24

Actually , one consultant said 2 me that this condition is mentally taxing , and boy he was right

deo357 · 03/08/2011 06:35

Well had a proper bleed again 5.30 yest . Rushed on to labour ward & been here ever since . This is the first one I've had actually being in hospital. I feel they r being a little relaxed now & this is biggest one I've had . Got MRI at 10.30 today then thurs hopefully surgeons will meet . Desperate 4 a plan now 4 my sanity . Will fill u in on MRI results later . I do hope it's not more bad news .

cmm · 03/08/2011 08:48

Oh deo, so sorry, I know I keep saying it (and know I didn't have the other complications) but I do understand how hard it is going through the bleeds, bring in hosp. Don't know if I was on the thread at the time but when I was on the maternity ward had a bleed and was taken to labour ward for nearly 24 hours and not let off bed!!!! Bed pans for toilet... Nice... Is there a theatre on the labour ward? They said they put me on there to be monitored more carefully and transferred to theatre in emerg if necessary. I remember lying in a room on my own monitored all night and crying. Like your consultant said it is mentally so hard too. Are they cross matching your bloods regularly? Sure they will be. I know you are less weeks than I was so know you are understandably worried as i was and was 34 when admitted. There was one other girl on mat with pp who was under thirty weeks with bleeds in and out, just heard they've got her to 35 weeks then delivered after bigger bleed. It's quite rare to get two pps at the same time on a ward. I know the staff might seem relaxed, mine did sometimes, but they seriously will know how serous it is and be weighing up delivering early to going longer. Wish there was more I could say, so hope you get a plan soon. From what you said last time there is a good neo natal there. A friend of mine had a babies at 26 and 30 weeks, a long time in the unit but they are both ok. I know nothing people can say helps much at the moment though but do keep us all in touch as hopefully it helps talking to people who've been through it. Big hugs, keep us posted xx

I appreciate the support Cmm . I think it's the differences of opinions with docs that driving me insane . Thurs I hope 2 c my cons who is head honcho & they all pass the buck on to her . I've been on labour ward 14 hrs now and hardly seen a soul stuck in here , considering this is the worst bleed yet I don't get it ! Apparently there is someone on ward with pp too & has been in forever , that's all I know ! No end in sight til I get a plan . Xxx

Coppernoddle · 03/08/2011 17:46

Oh deo you poor thing!!! Sounds awful!! How did your scan go then? I don't think they will come up with a plan will they? They just go one day at a time? I'm surprised that they've left you more this time now you've had a proper bleed than before, maybe there very busy then, which is no excuse! I have everything crossed for you that everything goes well today x has hubby and the boys been in to visit you? Have you got tuis week sorted with childcare? Did you manage to sort out your nanny?

Well, I'm home! It was bloody hot in there and they were stripping all the babies off so they said if I wanted to go home today I could, a lot cooler here! Feeding going very well but bloody he'll my nipples are sore, red and blistered!!!
Will catch up with you later x x x

cmm · 03/08/2011 19:11

Hi girls
Cn - wow you're home!!! Gosh must have been hot in there! Can't imagine coming out two days later! The nips get better don't they but boy they are sore aren't they!!!! How's the section pain and spd? I am getting stronger but done a bit more today and really sore over symphisis and teary, hardly done anything really, just bit of walking with pram and my little girl. Just frustrated but know I am grateful that am ok as I am!
So pleased for you! How you feeling? Xx

Deo - the consultants really don't like to go over others bur it drove me mad too. Like cn said is day by day but they gave me an estimated week of section but then kept bringing fwd when I kept bleeding so things honestly could change. I kept checking my phone in the night when couldn't sleep so will keep doing that then if breastfeeding my little one can send a message! Xx

Yes, home! Feel like I've hardly been away and what I was planning for hasn't really happened! Bizarre! My hips the next day as I'd been in bed for so long were horrific! I couldn't even stand! So I managed to keep moving little bits at a time which was agonising and free them up a little bit! But bloody hell, no one tells you about the wind! That's more painful than anything! I need my sticks more than ever at the mo but hoping it stops quickly! I just need to keep pottering! My nipples are now blue and cracking! The boy can suck :) he's such a good feeder, not one problem!
It's quite frustrating having a c section as I just want to get on and do stuff! I'm a do'er not a watcher!
Deo, hope your having a better day x chin up honey, it'll get better! Just try and occupy your mind, get a daily routine going!
Cmm, can you not go to physio now make sure it's realigning properly?

Well, off to bed soon, try and get some sleep x x good night peeps x x
