Placenta previa - 36 weeks and in hospital!

Hi, it's been suggested that I start a new thread on this!!! Am now 36 weeks preg and been in hospital since 34+4 after first bleed with pp. They aren't apparently massive bleeds by previa standards but still scary!!! First one came in from home via ambulance in middle of night, second was after an ultrasound whilst in hospital and third was the other night again whilst in hospital. Be interested to hear of other peoples experiences on this. It's so frightening isn't it! It's when it first starts to bleed that it's frightening, nit knowing how much. Staff in hospital are being really good, especially when I bleed.

Been told that they want mr to stay in hospital till c section at 39 weeks, however this depends on how much I bleed and how I and baby am. Reason for 39 is the clinical NICE guidelines for paediatrics.

Am so up and down emotionally, one min getting head round it, next crying loads. Have a little girl 4.5 years. Her delivery was fine. Had SPd then and still do have now but having the Bowen technique for that this time, privately with a midwife, and it seems to be helping the Spd a little.,

Any tips on how you coped with your pps. Find it so difficult at times. Thanks for all support xx

Thanks girls I know u r right . Didn't know u were on watch 24 hr cn, so do u always have someone ?? I just have this feeling , what have I done, I want my life back Sad . I have had SPd 3 times but obviously never on u twos scale . How awful must that be. I know about the weight Cmm, I'm normally 8/10 , I recon I'm a 14 now !! With all this not walking or moving business !!! Only 1 week cn & it's over ( or just begun) Grin I could potentially b here for 7 weeks.
Xxxxx

deo357 · 23/07/2011 15:54

Oh & u didn't say the wrong thing Cmm,I know what u r getting at but it's just not always that easy is it ???

Coppernoddle · 23/07/2011 18:24

I try to have someone here constantly but in reality that's not always the case! My hubby here at weekend but he has to entertain the kids so he took them out for an hour this morning on their bikes and just kept phoning me! But most of the time now I have someone here. I've started to pile on the weight now too! Dead worried about getting my health back! 1 week I keep telling myself! Bet it'll be the longest week ever!! Cmm I remember how frustrated you were and all the emotions you went through! All I can say is that deo, I'm here for you too!! You can moan and scream all you want on here, were all here for you!
The pain above my bump is getting worse! It's so bad, when the muscle spasms I almost black out for the pain! I see the midwife on Monday, don't know whether to wait till then, don't know whether I can be bothered sitting in maternity for a couple of hours just to be sent home no better off!

deo357 · 23/07/2011 18:48

Not long hang on cn ! The only plus point 4 me is I have rested that ripped muscle & haven't noticed it , just goes to show . U will get your fitness back just give yourself your 6 weeks to rest . I've put the feelers out 4 some help so I'll c what comes up x

Coppernoddle · 23/07/2011 19:59

Well done! Hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised on how many people come to your rescue!! Think you really find out who your friends are in situations like these!!
Fookin facebook!! Propper doing my head in tonight!! All this about Amy winehouse who drank and drugged herself to death and everyone commenting on it but no one commenting on the 80 kids that died and more in Oslo! Are people just emotionally numb with mass murder now!! My sister lives in Oslo and was terrifying for her and us!

Are you having a nice evening!! Home tomorrow hopefully!! Enjoy the peace and quiet and rest before the chaos of juggling!!

deo357 · 23/07/2011 21:07

Spoke to a friend who has several friends with aupairs who may lend them out over hols , so this could b the solution . Your poor sis terrible news hey . Apparently hubby put the crib up today !!! Yay . Home is calling me , xxxxx

Coppernoddle · 23/07/2011 21:49

Brilliant news!! A plan coming together, bet you feel so much better! Less stressed!! Get cracking that whip now!! Sleep well x x x

deo357 · 24/07/2011 06:43

6.30 am & ready to go ! I'll probably still b here at 2! Had another friend visit last night so that was nice to catch up . Lots of my friends go away next week 4 2 weeks . This time next week cn ....... U will b on the edge !!!! Chat later xxx

Coppernoddle · 24/07/2011 08:33

Yay!! Going home today!! Smile weathers going to be nice for you today too! Hopefully it won't be 2! Maybe after the morning walk round!!

cmm · 24/07/2011 08:38

Hope you get discharged today deo! Know what you mean re 2pm, it's always past midday for some reason isn't it!
Cn - like deo said, a week tomorrow, you must be so pleased and ready! The spd really makes things so difficult and it's so so painful. Mine is def better but still on over pubic bone now doing more, think the long stay in hosp, spd and section combined is the prob! Looking fwd to driving again in 2nd aug! Will have a trial run with hubby! X

deo357 · 24/07/2011 08:44

U will b free Cmm when u can drive ! Well bra is on Wink I'm chomping at the bit . Just lined up more friends with help rota . Let the chaos begin . I swear when I've had this babe I'm not seeing one single person apart from my kids & hubby 4 a week , I will b so sick of company !!!!!!! Let u know when I am home & I'm sure I'll b moaning about what the m i l has done Grin

deo357 · 24/07/2011 17:52

well got home about 11am - all good - had a nice row with hubby & slammed a few doors, had a cry in the garden & a hot bath. all areas covered !! feel ok now!!!!! sat in garden all afternoon with my new next catalogue in peace. few. i would b lying if i said i wasnt a bit on edge. but i shall rise above it & get on with it. i think im scared that it will happen again & ill be stuck, not of the actual bleed?? not sure. fingers crossed , this is a warning sign i was pushing it. lesson learnt. hope u all had good day xx

Coppernoddle · 24/07/2011 19:19

Oh brilliant news!! And don't worry, your under so much stress it's good to have a good scream and cry every now and again! My poor hubby gets the lot!! I'm glad your home, and I really enjoyed flipping though the next catalogue last night too!! Very dangerous!!
I'm so glad tat you've got some people on board now to help you, there's no way you could of done this on your own!! If you did, it wouldn't be long before your back in! To be honest, expect to be in again soon! And if not, bonus!! I planned to be in at 32 weeks, and have managed to not be in at all!
Well, pain was that bad today that I gave in to cocodamol (it makes me feel sick and dizzy) and had that along with my tramadol and wow!! Spaced out for about two hours! Was lovely!! Feel dizzy and very tired but it definitely took the edge of it!! Tramadol on it's own doesn't touch it!! So I'm in for a good night!
Cmm, it's lovely to have you back with us chatting, now your in the swing of things! After your section, with the spd, did they get you up day after doing everything like normal c sections? I'm a bit worried that there going to just leave me to it! What would you recommend I take into hospital with me? I think I have everything, but never having a c section, dd1 was in for a day and dd2 was at home! Feel like I've packed enough for world war three then feel like I've not packed enough!
Baby keeps popping in and out of my pelvis and then just sitting onto of my pelvis bone whilst moving around!! I could quite honestly cry!! And I'm getting very sore and lots of pressure on my back passage and worried as I'm sitting down so much that all that pressure is on placenta. I guess if it was that bad, I'd of bled!
Well, what a glorious day, we had lunch out in the pub that backs onto the recreational ground in the village watching the cricket! The kids played on their bikes and my friend came with us and we just chatted all afternoon!, was lovely until I had to come home as was going to pass out with pain!! Those park benches are not comfy!!

deo357 · 24/07/2011 20:11

sounds like u r in absolute agony cn with those painkillers too. poor u . as far as im aware they should still get u up quite quickly after your c section spd or not. im sure u have everything u need, allowing of course for having cathater in for 24 ish hours. i suppose it all depends what this pain by your ribs is?? hopefully just a muscle like me. and 4 days in hosp has done it wonders. im positive thinking that i wont be back in for at least 3-4 weeks i hope. i want to get to 30 weeks. so nearly got the next 2 weeks covered for now & will keep working on it !! xx

cmm · 24/07/2011 21:03

Oh really pleased you're home deo! Take it as easy as you can. Just check with them next time you speak re baths. They banned me but if you're ok after that one that's great! My first one started in the bath that's all. Hope you don't mind me mentioning. Saying that what i realised in hosp is that many drs have different opinions!!!!!! There's definitely a chance you might not bleed again, what I also realised is that I couldn't second guess it and it was out of my hands, however although resting won't prevent there us def more chance if you don't. Any news on that help? So feel for you as it such a difficult one to get your head round, I used to say not really ill, more at risk!!! Keep positive like you are doing, you're doing great. Like cn said, very normal to have a rant though too. Be so great to get to 30 weeks won't it. I def felt better about things then.
Cn - yes they had my up next day like others. They gave me like others the morphine drip but i wasn't in pain straight after, more following days, def take all pain relief they offer. Co codomol used to spin me our too, not great, they used tramadol too but also other anti inflammatory, will get the name of it. My spd was def better than it was before the birth but think I struggled and still find it harder due to spd but it will get better over time. Post section I didn't find I had much time for anything other than visitors, looking after baby and feeding!!! Advice.... I got one of those widgey breastfeeding nursing pillows. Cheapest I found was £19.95 from tesco.com, someone who'd had sections recommended for feeding and it is fantastic!!! It's a firm pillow that wraps round your hips so baby can lay across it and support for you and less pressure on tummy!!!! It honestly is so good. Wouldn't be without it! Also don't be afraid to reduce visitors, I felt spaced out at times with tabs too. Also, but guess this depends on your hosp, but if they offer to take baby for a couple if hours for you to rest then I took them up on it!!! Try to set up all the things you need for changing baby at waist height next to where you're changing and keep there as bending over is so so difficult and not recommended at first!!!! Oh, and big nicks to go over your scar, horrid but very comfy!!!!! Deo the expert more than me though but I def found these things useful. Have to say, the actual section itself was ok, just the recovery. Have you chosen music for the section?
Well, hubby out working as we've got our own business so is catching up on hours missed whilst off with me! Had girlie time with daughter, cuddled upon sofa, tv and nibbles and chatter and mow both her and little 'ted' are both asleep!!!!! I should of course be asleep too I guess but also just taken opp to order from next catalogue!!! Xx

Ar, sounds lovely cmm! I love lazy days with my girls!! Doritoes, dip and a DVD!! Bliss!! I have one of those pillows already, I used them with my girls too and they were brilliant! Have been using it in bed too so defo got my moneys worth! I have also bought big knickers, have been warned about that one already so bought a load from m&s, ready to go!! I think I just need to put things like camera, snacks, iPhone with music on, my charger and little bits like that! I'm sure hubby can bring things in when I'm in!
I thought that about the bath too! Maybe warm not hot!
Well, still feeling spaced out, have just taken some tramadol as wearing off, hubby making sticky toffee pudding then I'm off to bed! Struggling to keep my eyes open!!
Sleep well peeps x x x x x

deo357 · 25/07/2011 09:39

lovely chilling with babe & kids heaven ! i agree v cushion, big pants , i like the disposable ones no washing !!
I have never been told about baths !!! weird !!!! i wont do that then, luckily i didnt have a hot one yest ! feeling nervous & anxious actually. i was positive yest, but late last night &today no, so just need to focus on getting to 30 weeks now. every dribble & twinge worrying me. on the plus side i slept like a log last night didnt move a muscle !!!!

deo357 · 25/07/2011 09:43

my hubby v busy this week catching up so trying to make sure all covered. he has been good but may crash & burn! nice baby stuff in new next cat, cant wait to get spending !!!!

Coppernoddle · 25/07/2011 14:40

Are you still dribbling then deo?
Glad you got a good night sleep, nice to be in your own bed!!
You'll have good days and bad days feeling anxious! You just have to try and occupy your mind!
Productive day today, me and mil cleared out the freezer ready for a big shop! All washing and ironing done, baby toys washed and kids happily playing in the garden! She brilliant my mil, couldn't cope without her!!
Well, I'm off to see the midwife, catch up with you in a mo!!

deo357 · 25/07/2011 16:33

No not still dribbling , had a little brown dribble last night , but keep thinking I am & not . Sorry if tmi ! U have been productive . Good day 4 me at home . Managed to rest quite well & did few jobs . Lucky with your m I l too . Look forward to hearing what your midwife says x

Coppernoddle · 25/07/2011 17:50

I guess if it's brown it's old from your last bleed! Which is good!! Glad to hear your resting!! Yes, very productive day! More so me giving my orders and my poor mil doing all the jobs really!! Bless her!! Midwife didn't really say much, I could lie down as my muscle started spasming and was nearly screaming, she looked at me and said, that's not good!! So I asked what she could do and she said to be honest, nothing! Even if it was gallstones! I only have a week so we'll know more after! So just routine really! Don't see anyone know till my pre op on Friday and then section on Monday!! Whooohooooo!! I'm still so nervous about it!! Can't wait to get baby out but really am not looking forward to this!!

Coppernoddle · 25/07/2011 17:50

I couldn't lie down that should of been!

deo357 · 25/07/2011 22:50

Well I'm back in , had another brown dribble . Hubby insisted we came in . Doc not worried as brown but protocol 24 hrs in . Not happy . Another row with hubby & he left . This whole sit is a nightmare . We can't keep juggling all 5 kids day to day with me in or out etc . Been thinking tonight & think a nanny is the way 2 go. Gonna have 2 bite the bullet & pay but at least kids get stability & a good time still had . Need 2 talk to hubby in am . Had a row with my mum down phone . So now on a sodding ward feeling v sorry 4 myself SadSadSad.

deo357 · 26/07/2011 15:52

hi, back home again ! phew - can see this is going to be a game of ping pong now. well im greatful to be home even if it is only 4 a day !!!

Coppernoddle · 26/07/2011 19:50

Oh so sorry, Internet been down today! Oh deo! You sound so stressed, I really feel for you! I think your right, a nanny! Then you can relax and not have to juggle where the kids are going to go! Might ease the stress of hubby and work too! Sometimes I think no one understands you and hormones and how stressed very easily you can get and effecting you it can be! My hubby forgets I'm pregnant and hormonal and can't understand why I'm up and down! Feel like smacking him in the face with a sign saying I'm pregnant you ass!!
I'm glad your not staying in but again your right, it's going to be a ping pong game now! Now you've started bleeding, guess it's going to be like this all the way through now! Hopefully you'll make it as far as 30 weeks!
Well, hope you've had a relaxing evening, all these arguments cannot be good for you! Stay calm, eat cake and go to bed x x x
