New thread for us to chat about our little jekyll & hydes...

Danny is currently stood next to me rearranging my DVD collection - I will be doing a work out to charlie & lola tonight apparently, while DS1 will be watching Billy Blanks Taebo with his pre-bedtime cup of milk and DH's history docu is hiding out with Diego in the city of lost toys...

{{{{hugs dinky}}}} at least he's got a nanny you he trusts and loves and his big brother is there with him. Doesn't help you much though.

We had lovely weather for dd's sports day thankfully and they had a ball, all the kids got medals whether they won or not and they had an ice cream party too... ds1's playschool teachers oldest son gave ds1 his medal so they're both happy and exhausted.

waiting for their sausages to defrost so i can feed them and sling them into bed now (forgot t go shopping

at your hunky man swampy... i could do with one of those lurking around

katieblirdsnest · 17/06/2010 19:55

hey dinky i'm still at work too as i was last night. i do, at least, have a glass of wine and the football on in my office but i'm missing the dcs so much this week. Tulips is right, though, you know you put as much security and love round him as possible.

last night i was even hoping that ivor might wake up in the night so i'd have to go and cuddle him. madness!

swampster · 17/06/2010 19:55

There's me getting stressed out about my one day a week, dinky.

littlesez · 17/06/2010 21:53

oh poor dinky thats poo hope you manage to get some time back.

swampy dont be if work is tough then work is tough. I only work part time but i still get stressed especially if I am feeling like im missing out on izzy stuff

SilveryMoon · 18/06/2010 06:54

Morning.
I'm in a mega PANIC
Dp came home yesterday and said he's been involved in a near miss on the tracks that morning. basically as he was driving into the depot, there is a level crossing which doesn't have barriers, it has lights and a warning horn. Dp said he drove up and couldn't see any lights flashing and the horn wasn't going so he continued to drive acroos the rails, but there was a fucking train coming!!!! he went straight to the office to report it and they went out to have a look at the lights, but by this time, the lights had been turned up to day time brightness and were clearly visible. They also looked at CCTV recordings, but that angle is different from dp's as a driver behind the wheel of a car.
He could get sacked for this.
They're going out this morning to take some photo's, but the sun isn't out, so the lights may be visible.
We'd be right up the creek if he lost this job.

dinkystinky · 18/06/2010 08:59

Thanks guys. KBN - I like the idea of work with wine and football on - sounds much more civilised! And Swampster - stress at work is stress at work as LittleSez said - particularly if you're trying to cram x no of days work into 1!

SM - all I can say is hopefully your DP has a good record and they'll take this into account and believe him if its his word and he wont be sacked. Will keep my fingers crossed for you guys.

Right back to the shit.. see you guys later over the weekend when hopefully will have time to post properly. Love and hugs to all who need it.

SilveryMoon · 18/06/2010 09:09

Thanks dinky He does have a very good record. He was head-hunted by Network Rail from a contracting company.

I'm thinking they wouldn't allow him to stay there if they thought he posed a risk to himself or others, the'd surely have suspended him pending investigation wouldn't they. that's what I'd have done if i thought there was something ele there.
He went straight to the office and reported it himself, so hopefully that show's he has nothing to hide.......
he just said they are going to do some ringing around today and find out who will be incharge odf investigation if any.
This is his last week there fo 2 weeks anyway, he is on annual leave from tomorrow.

My main worry is if they use this as an excuse and an example. network rail are trying to lay-off 1,500 workers aren't they.
Kind of glad I didn't order him off of the union now!

dinkystinky · 18/06/2010 10:21

I think if he has an exemplary record and is a good worker, its really unlikely they'd use it as an excuse to lay him off - they'll want to lay off workers who dont have a good record/have high absence rates etc. and keep the good ones. I think you just need to put the worries to the back of your mind and try and get on with things as normal SM - hopefully all will be ok.

OP posts:
katieblirdsnest · 18/06/2010 10:44

how scary for your dp too sm. maybe you should take them at their word for now, they may be worried that there is a problem with their system and need to make sure it's sorted before something worse happens which with this already on the record would make their liability even more obvious. i may be being hideously naive but definitely try not to panic.

SweetTalkinWoman · 18/06/2010 12:33

Oh SM how frightening for DP. Sounds like DP?s done nothing wrong and has a good record, so can?t see why they wouldn?t take his word for it. It?s still a bit of a headache for you all though. Are you going away on holiday? Hope it doesn?t cast a cloud over your time away as a family.

Dinky and KBN ? sounds like you are both having a hard time doing the late nights etc at work. KBN ? I was the same when I worked in the City and used to kind of hope that Sam would wake up for a cuddle in the night! Hope you manage to get to the weekend ok and relax a bit.

Littlesez ? the dietician told me about the oat milk ? I didn?t make a note of the name of it ? is it easy to find in the supermarket? We have a couple of tins of Neocate left and at the moment are mixing bottles half and half Neocate/Cow?s milk. If his skin is ok in a couple of weeks we can up the cow?s milk ? the hope is there?ll be no reaction and we won?t need to try soya/oat milk. Anyway, he?s been signed off so we shouldn?t need to go back unless it all goes wrong in the next few weeks!

We had our second week of therapy for Orlena ? the portage worker kept asking what I knew about autism and seemed to be suggesting that I contact the National Autistic Society for some publications but we need to wait until the end of the year before they review again. We?ve got a speech therapy appointment in a couple of weeks? time so hoping that will make some difference soon. I think I?m more accepting that DD?s a bit different now, rather than getting upset and frustrated that she?s not like her peers. She?s still my gorgeous girl!

Feeling a bit sorry for myself today ? woken up with a head cold so am on the Lemsip. I was going to try a ?Zumba? class tonight (cross between samba and aerobics) but think I?ll give it a miss. I think I?ve gone as far as I ever will with the hula hoping so want to try something different in addition to the running. Having my hair coloured and cut tomorrow (hurrah!) so that?s 3 hours in the haidressers reading trashy mags. Can?t wait! Then Kew Gardens with my cousin on Sunday.

Who?s planning to get together for Swampser?s suggestion? Have got it in the diary and might try to get DH to have DD while Sam and I go on a nice trip together?

I can?t seem to scroll back past the current page, but hope everyone?s ok?

katieblirdsnest · 18/06/2010 13:06

a relaxing weekend you say? no, no i appear to have volunteered to man the 'hunt for treasure' stall at dd's school fair. what was i thinking?!

STW i'm glad you're feeling more relaxed about dd. you will no doubt want to know what you can do to best help her but at least it will be just to do the best for her rather than worrying about keeping up with peers. it must be so hard not to compare but i'm so glad you sound more relaxed about it.

i hope sam's skin is ok with the new milk plan. ivor's excema is really bad at the moment and he can't stop scratching behind his knee. i've got all the creams going but suppose i should maybe consider diet?

Spottyshoes · 18/06/2010 14:05

Sorry most of you are feeling stressed at work. I get stressed at the mere thought of going back!! Have to have a meeting with my boss in a couple of weeks and am dreading it. Its prompted me into making some big decisions though!! Hope things get better for you guys soon x

Are you at total fitness then stw? Ours have just started zumba classes and I'd really like to try one. Enjoy the pamper tomorrow.

I'm having issues with scrolling too, it's jumping me around all over the place, so I'll just say hi and wave to you all

TulipsInTheSunshine · 18/06/2010 18:40

KBN... we really must master art of saying 'No I absolutely, categorically do not want to volunteer for this wretched job that no one else is stupid enough to do'

I missed dd's first ever sports day race as i was manning the BBQ, I've just spent all afternoon doing quarterly returns for the playschool and a good percentage of the morning fighting the photocopier down there to copy the ten billion documents that are needed to apply for a measly grant for the toddler group that won't even cover a quarter of our annual deficit and i have to spend the weekend wading through food receipts to apply for a meals grant..... Why? Because no one else ever fucking volunteers except us same few idiots as the majority of parents seem to think the school, playschool and toddler group will just keep on trundling along as long as they're needed and we're all just inventing these jobs in order to gather in our little clique and exclude everybody

sorry, one of those weeks

KBN and STW... dp has severe eczema and finds in this weather he has to wash every day to avoid a flare up... the sweat in elbow and knee joints seems to aggravate it very quickly

dinky, hope today is better

bumpsnowjustplump · 18/06/2010 21:40

just popping on to mark my place will catch up later..

mumoverseas · 19/06/2010 09:54

hello all,

dinky and KBN sorry you are having to work such long hours, hope they appreciate it.

SM I agree with dinky ref your DPs near miss. I'm sure all will be ok as he has had no previous problems.

STW hope all goes well with O's sessions. Sounds a bit 'off' for them to be dropping hints about autism at this stage, try not to let it worry you too much

TITS poor you having to do all that work. I know what you mean, here on the compound it is always the same women who do stuff. I'm getting quite busy now with my signing classes, currently 5 a week but hopefully from September will be also doing a morning at another compound and a few more here and also have been approached 3 times in last week for legal advice. Am starting to charge for it now as was getting pissed off for doing it for free. Have also been asked to take over as parents rep for playgroup/nursery which I probably will agree to do from September and am on staff of female security staff doing searches on female visitors when we have functions here. Did a few hours Wed and Thurs evenings and may aw well be working full time, I'd probably get more 'me' time.

Only 10 days til I come home

SilveryMoon · 19/06/2010 13:02

Morning all. I've just got up heaven!

I'd like to come along to the meet up swampy's planned, just not sure how I'd get there tbh. Am sure I will figure it out, will be great to see some of you.

I'd better get cracking then, shower, washing up, ironing, kids dressed, and god knows what else.
Hope everyone has a good weekend xxx

dinkystinky · 19/06/2010 14:02

Yesterday was another shitola shocker which involved an idiot client swearing at me at around 5pm because I hadnt delivered agreed documents to them by then (which I couldnt because the other side hadnt responded on them so out of my control) and ended up with my finally crawling to bed at 4am this morning, being up at 7am and spending more than half of today on the bloody thing from home in the hope that we will be able to sign and complete on Monday. I feel like I'm in some particularly sleep deprived ground hog day and v jealous of your lie in SM Oh well, what doesnt kill me will make me stronger - and grumpier. Danny is being a clingon (understandably) and DS1 is acting up abit too - not sure I have the patience to deal with it due to sleep deprivation induced jet lag, but hey ho, guess it all pays the bills.

KBN - hope the school fair goes well. STW - hope you're feeling better now. Zumba sounds intriguing! Good to hear things are moving still on O's therapy/assistance - DS1's speech therapy is really improving his confidence and he and his therapist get on really well - he calls Fridays his Angeli days as he knows he has sessions with her on Friday afternoons - so it is a really good thing to do I think.

Took boys for haircuts this morning - as their hair grows at a rate of knots (boom boom) we've gone for identical short hair cuts for them and they both look so grown up! And so alike! Its hilarious - then quick trip to have some food as there is hardly in as havent been home all week to sort out ordering more food for delivery, playground and buy toys for the birthday parties next weekend and the weekend after - then back home to more work induced chaos. Ho hum. DS1 off for swimming this afternoon and I think Danny and I may go to see the petting zoo in the park. Did have plans to go shopping to do a nice breakfast for DH tomorrow but cant muster the energy or enthusiasm yet.

On dinky, that is horrid.
Hope you manage to get out with danny today and just enjoy yourself. it sounds like you need a break from the stresses of life right now.
Can''t believe that bloke swearing at you! Some people hey.

Luke is in bed napping, as is dp. Me and ds1 are just chilling out/trying to get dressed, but I can't really be bothered!
Not up to much as money is really tight, but my mum gave me £40 for our holiday, so hoping we will be able to have a nice little dinner somewhere for that.

mumoverseas · 19/06/2010 15:09

dinky FFS that is appalling, I would NEVER tolerate being sworn at by a client, I'd tell them to f off (says she swearing)
They really are getting full time hours out of you, think you might need to re-think things as it will just drag you down the things are going.

SM very of your lie in. Would kill for one. Finally went to drs today and got some stronger painkillers for my back. Its been really bad the last few weeks and not sleeping well as a result. Fingers crossed they work tonight.

When are you off on holiday SM? Thats really nice of your mum, my mum used to do stuff like that, the odd fiver here and there for the kids for holiday spending.

ref meet up, I'm definitely up for it, end of July wasn't it?

SilveryMoon · 19/06/2010 15:49

mos We are off on our hols on Monday 28th, straight from my job interview.
The interview is at 11am and will last an hour, so dp will come and meet me and then we'll drive off from there. Check in time is at 4pm.
It's really nice when my mum does that, but I feel awful taking it. She is 58 years old and works 3 domestic cleaning jobs and doesn't have much herself, b ut she won't hear of me not t\aking it. She says she knows how hard it can be when you're struggling financially and the guilt you feel to the children.
Hope your back is feeling better for tonight and you and dinky manage to get a gtood sleep

littlesez · 19/06/2010 15:56

dinky bloody hell, i think you deserve some kinda working mums trophy xxx

mumoverseas · 19/06/2010 16:05

thats so like my mum used to be SM. She was always giving 'pocket money' to the kids but at christmas was pretty mean buying them tatt from pound shops and charity shops. When I was young I assumed we weren't well off so was pretty shocked when mum died and I found out that she had thousands stashed in offshore bank accounts!

Good luck with the interview. I'm sure you'll to brilliantly and you'll all have a fab holiday.

I was so looking forward to a hot bath, painkillers and an early night but a friend just texted and reminded me we'd planned to meet for coffee tonight. I thought I was waiting for her to confirm since last week. Have to go out as can't let her down as not met up for ages and she works long hours, is out from around 7am to 6pm so hardly catch up.

dinkystinky · 19/06/2010 19:21

Agreed MoS - I'm due to have a chat with the head of department in the next few weeks. Hope the painkillers help you sleep tonight after meeting up with your friend and your back is much better before you fly back.

SM - how lovely of your mum! Good luck for the interview.

Spottyshoes · 19/06/2010 21:00

Oh Dinky that is not on glad you have a meeting, part time hours definately creep up until they are getting full time hours for part time wages. Hope you manage to get a bit of rest/a break tonight and tomorrow.

Sending sympathies for your back pain mos, my neck is bothering me at the moment and the pain is actually starting to make me angry as it's so restricting. Hope you get a better night to tonight.

Sm !!!!

MrsY · 20/06/2010 10:45

Hi everyone! Am now savvy enough on my phone to find MM, so i'm hoping I can be around a bit more.

Hope you're all well - i'm a week and.a half into the worst ear infection EVER. I'm on two types of antibiotics and popping nurofen and paracetamol like they're smarties and I'm still in.so much pain.

J's had to work today - boo, but it seems M is on best behavior today, long may it last! I gather from the thread title M isn't the only fab Feb jeckyl and hyde!

I will try and read back through the thread, but for now, it's lovely to be back. Enjoy pampering your OHs! xxx
