Hello new thread

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
simpson · 25/11/2010 22:21

Am also Envy on baby movements Grin

Well my grandmother suffered a massive fit this morning/last night and was found by her carer who has a key to her houses this morning.

She is in hospital but does not know who anyone is etc Sad

She is 92 and has got very forgetful and has been forgetting to take her meds Sad

its very worrying as she has now got to the stage where she can no longer live by herself Sad

gingeme · 26/11/2010 14:04

Oh Simpson its so sad to see relatives like that isn't it? DH 's Nan was like that and I had to introduce myself every time we went to see her. Well so did DH and the MIL Sad
We went to playgroup this morning and popped into Davids old school after and he went very shy and quiet. Looked almost teary in fact Sad His friends were very pleased to see him though Smile
We have also ordered his new school uniform on line so hopefuly should get it before his start date. As long as he doesn't grow again before then Hmm

simpson · 26/11/2010 15:04

Bugger, typed long message and it didn't post Angry

Shorter version:

It looks like M has chickenpox She only has about 10 spots so far and is her usual mad self, still eating lots etc so maybe she will get it mildly Smile

Only problem is ferrying J around when M can't go out and getting food in etc...

gingeme · 28/11/2010 10:43

How's M Simpson ? Is it chicken pox ?
How is everyone else?
DH put George to bed without a nappy on last night . He forgot Hmm didn't realise till this morning. Thought he was dry till we smelt him! Ah well everything in wash .
Staying in today.

simpson · 28/11/2010 11:34

Gingeme - its definately chickenpox

She is very spotty on her groin, back & tummy. But tbh I was expecting it to be worse. She is not covered iyswim.

No sign of temp, she seems totally fine (apart from spots) eating like a horse still etc.

My main concern is the logistics of getting J to and from school when I cannot take M out Hmm

My mum is going to Oz next week for 2wks so won't be around to help if when J catches CP.

Also the guy laying my new floor wants to do it next week so will have to stay at my mums house for 3 days and can't go outside when there due to M's CP. Also worrying about the cats....

angechica · 28/11/2010 13:34

very quick hello all, very deep snow up here. MIL has just got the train back to london all right though.

Cycle 6, BFN sigh.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/11/2010 16:59

Aww next time Ange - took us 10 cycles and with DS1 and DS2 all I seemed to do was think about sex.

Simps - J needs to go to school doesnt he so I guess you just have to take M out, what are the other options. Is there a scool friend he can go with?

simpson · 28/11/2010 18:14

Ange - it took 10 cycles with M too.

J was unplanned Blush

Grrr at the footie today Angry

MM - A friend (whose DD is at same school in reception) who lives round the corner is going to pop in with her kids (her LO has had CP) and I will take J and her DD to school.

My mum will pick J up and take him on tuesday.

Tuesday is a problem but J has footie after school so won't be so many people around iyswim. I may have to take her in buggy and keep rain cover on or something...

latrucha · 28/11/2010 18:42

Ange - isn't nine months the average? Made me feel better until we got to nine months. Fortunately, that was the month for us. Hang on in there.

Although, Sabela is driving me nuts right now so number three is in real doubt here. She did not sleep after 1am last night. I'm really struggling with her now.

simpson · 28/11/2010 18:48

LaT - I went out last night and got in at 1am and M was wide awake so she came downstairs and had crumpets with us (me and friend)

Luckily she slept late this morning

madmouse · 29/11/2010 17:31

Nathan is regularly awake from 3-5am or similar, saying biiiiig car very loudly over and over again, singing and/or banging his sleep toy (hard plastic) against the head board. If I take the toy away I get such sad sobs (it's all he's ever slept with) that that's no solution either as i would still not get sleep...

He's happy, we are tired, and by 7.30 guess who is all snug curled up in foetus position and un-wake-able Hmm

JustKeepSparkling · 29/11/2010 18:06

Biiig yawn MM. Repeat 'this too shall pass'....we hope!

H is waking at 5.30 pretty much on the dot, seems happy enough to stay in his room playing/chatting for a while but then wakes T by about 6 which is really a little early for him.

So every morning it's a decision;
stay in bed, let H play, see how long T can sleep or;
get up, try and sneak H out of their room, go downstairs and try and doze on the sofa (in the cold) while H plays & probably wakes T anyway Hmm

Problems with heating & hot water, too tedious to describe, but v annoying.

LaT - how are you doing??

Ange - sympathies, i know how disappointing it is each month to not be successful.

Simps - how's M? hopefully doing ok with spots and you are managing school runs.

PIL gone home today, am so relieved as i was finding them suffocating this trip, i know i was being irrational and hormonal but still...glad to have the house back to just me & the boys at least for a few days.

angechica · 30/11/2010 15:16

shirking from home today!

reassurance good thanks ladies. It only took 4 months with DS. But I am nearly 38 now! Have given up coffee & trying to cut down on wine Shock.
"all I seemed to do was think about sex" Mixedmama that did make me PMSL!

Big chips of ice falling from sky. Might not take dog out just yet.

A has his visit to pre-school this Friday :)

simpson · 30/11/2010 21:41

Hi all

I am decamping to my mothers for a few days from tomorrow so I can finally get my new wooden floor laid downstairs (from flood)

No internet access (or very little) boo hiss Sad

So will check in when I am back Smile

M still pretty spotty but no sign of J getting it yet as he will be devestated if he misses his nativity play next week....

Fillybuster · 04/12/2010 19:54

i've caught up but am too overwhelmed and stressed to actually contribute anything useful...

absolutely stinking cold, awful sinusitis, ill baby, Tamara very not well, 35 for tea tomorrow afternoon, supposed to be travelling to Manchester on Monday with baby to visit terminally ill grandma....and had to bloody sack the bloody nanny for very inappropriate behaviour on Friday morning. Aaaarghhh! :(

I have a thread on AIBU if you want the gory details...

...but now I've got 2 weeks until the end of term with no help and am bfing at exactly the times I'm supposed to collect T (12.00) and A (3.45pm) every day. Any hints and tips? I know in theory 3 under 5 should be fine on my own, but right now its a little intimidating...

madmouse · 04/12/2010 20:15

Filly I read your post on AIBU but none of the responses. I can only say that having been a child who was made to keep a very heavy secret from her parents for years and got quite messed up as a result you did the right thing.

Please make sure ds knows that no one should make him keep secrets and if they do it's always wrong and he must tell you.

JustKeepSparkling · 04/12/2010 21:16

Filly practical issues:

  • can you feed in a sling? if so can you try feeding on the go?
or, feed her slightly earlier/later? or drive to sch (don't know if you already do) a little earlier, feed her in the car?
  • get some painkillers down you, and whatever cold stuff you can take, and keep them going, don't miss a dose
  • T; do the same, calpol, etc.
maybe keep her off sch for a bit? reduce pick-ups?
  • tea tomorrow; cut any corners you can, get DH to do anything he can, call a friend who is good at cooking too and get her to help you out, Have no shame in this regard.
  • Monday; you'll be fine, you & baby will travel easily, although obv a sad trip.
  • lastly re nanny, do check you're covered legally, contract stuff etc.

Have i covered everything? Good luck & chin up :)

simpson · 04/12/2010 22:23

Filly - have just read your thread now.

Am Angry Sad on your behalf. Poor A, bloody woman. You have got well rid tbh.

I can just imagine J reacting the same way, they are only little Sad

On the feeding thing, I think I would arrive at the school a bit early (in car) and feed Mia then if you can.

((hugs)) to you....

Fillybuster · 05/12/2010 22:00

Thanks guys - it will all be fine and I'll muddle through. I'm very lucky to have MIL and mum who can help some of the time, and am sure some of the school mums will help out too.

Today went really well, but am shattered now. Still feeling pretty shitty, and have sprained my jaw, apparently, but hey....

Oh, and am not going to M'er tomorrow as can't risk infecting grandma :(

gingeme · 05/12/2010 22:09

hi just checking in. Be back soon. Off to read fillys thread xx

mixedmamameansbusiness · 06/12/2010 09:54

gingeme · 06/12/2010 13:41

Yes agree with the lady son your thread Filly your well shot Sad

simpson · 06/12/2010 20:10

Bloody chickenpox!!!

Bathed DC this eve and it looks like J has a few spots (about 5) on his tummy.

He has his first ever nativity play tomorrow morning Sad Sad

simpson · 06/12/2010 20:19

eeek & its his Xmas class party on Monday and he has been counting the days Sad

JustKeepSparkling · 07/12/2010 07:19

Simps - oh no! more spots this morning? definitely CP or just heat rash ??

pg brain is mush Gingeme, went out without keys in the snow with the boys, sensible.
tried to put trousers on back to front Hmm
and generally not really with it!

i slept terribly last night and for once H was up a bit later in the morning (6.40 opening their door, latest for ages) so boys wide awake, me knackered.
