Oh Lenni I feel your pain too Hope things work out ok for food and petrol this month now

DD took potty training to a whole new level today and when we were out the back of our flats on the grass playing with bubbles and kicking balls, she took her knickers down and squatted and wee'd on the grass It's so overlooked I dread what people thought. Thank goodness it was only wee.

I think because we have been caught short before in this potty training lark and have had to do it in the bushes, she thinks it's ok outside to just let rip

Oh dear... Time to teach more etiquette me thinks?

120 · 07/06/2010 20:47

OMG that is awful, for both of you. Think I would cry if I got a bill like that.

Tea, that is amazing of her, to hell what the others think. It always makes me really angry that it is acceptable for dogs to pee everywhere and not small children! When they are just learning, they don't have much time to think and if they wee'd their pants, the wee would still go in the same place. I am a big fan of al fresco weeing. All that nitrogen is very good for the grass!

Dog, just put up a very cheap and easy to make strawberry shortcake recipe on the blog. Well, shortbread biscuits with strawberries and greek yoghurt, but it's a fab way to entertain the kids and tastes great too. I do it loads in summer for afternoon tea.

Oooo I have greek yogurt and strawberries in my fridge 120.

Lenni · 07/06/2010 20:58

Tea - DD has been potty trained for over a year and still does that! The other day she did a poo on a riverbank whilst we were having a picnic with some playgroup friends. Was very embarrassing, especially as I had to scoop it up and carry it home in the raspberry container! Was the biggest poo I've ever seen too!

Never thought about phonebill, had to make so many calls 'cos of DH's work and things and at the time was kind of thinking this is not good, but then completely forgot about it. I think we will have about £300 for food and fuel for the month, which sounds okay until you take into account we live in the middle of nowhere and our fuel bill is at least £50 a week even if we just go to work/school and back each day. Am now praying DH has a good month! He has a show in 2 weeks so we'll be okay I think. Have learnt lesson though, no more holidays outside mainland Europe! I want to be able to get home by car if needed!

teaandcakeplease · 07/06/2010 21:02

Ooo that is more than I have for food and fuel a month. You'll be surprised how you can manage food wise. Petrol can't say, as you need it to drive period hopefully all will be well.

Can't believe your DD still does it

120 · 07/06/2010 21:04

lol at the raspberry container poo. Things like that make me feel very grown up as what you really want to do is run away and go Ewwwww!

Tea, if you have flour, icing sugar, and salted butter too, then you are good to go!

Pat, just looking at your wellyboot land pics. Am determined to make a meet up there now, it looks fab! Last time we went there the only thing DD had to do was run back and forth across the 'windy' bridge and look at the giant Eel head, which she sill talks about. My dad lives not far away on the A40 so if I did an overnighter with him, I could bring the beans along for a splash as we are members too!

Lenni · 07/06/2010 21:27

Don't worry Tea, by the end of the month you won't even blink as you whip her pants down mid conversation! Just make sure you hold legs up so doesn't run down legs and wet clothes! Been there, many times.

Round trip to DH's work is 35 miles and that is in nearest town. That is how far we have to drive for groceries/newspaper/anything! Round trip to our village school is 8 miles. I have a 4x4 as live on a farm up a steep track so can't get in and out in winter without it so not exactly the most economical on fuel. Grrrr. Times like this I wish I was walking distance from school, would be sooooo much cheaper! I'm going to live out of the freezer for as long as possibly can, got loads of homegrown veg still in there from last year and then cross fingers DH has a good show. A bit of scrimping does good to the household methinks, and we need to save at some point in the next few months just in case I don't get PhD funding.

120 · 07/06/2010 21:34

how about a mountain bike Lenni, with a pram trailer?

I would love to be fit enough to cycle to our village school. We live about 250 metres higher up than it - the gradient on the road is 1:4 in some places. That would be a good fitness goal, I should do it. The downhill trip might be a little hairy though! At least we would never be late!

DD seems much better today although isn't pleased that she can go to school tomorrow. I have only given her 3 doses of paracetomol today and she seems to be less sleepy. Spoke to GP this morning and he thought it was probably as much as anything being exhausted by the trauma of going to hospital. Must be pretty overwhelming to a 3 year old.

Lenni · 07/06/2010 22:15

Dog - you've been caught out on phone bills too - mean gits when you are phoning your Dad in hospital. That is the business to be in isn't it!?

books mountain bike and double trailer sounds sooooo cool. Are you coming on 17th? Better set off soon if you are biking it ....

lenni ouch ouch for phone bill. At least it's paid and gone. You sound even more remote than us. 10 mins drive (6 miles?) to nearest newspaper. Poor DD.... glad she is feeling better... bless her, she is such a brave sweetheart.

Huge lol at raspberry container . Tea am with 120 and Lenni, don't worry at all about poo and wee in the great outdoors. DH's (nutty)family positively takes offence if people pee in the loo rather than outdoors; waste of water.

Can only remember what is on this page, sorry....

Spent 40 quid today on new shoes for N, doodles and wellies... all very cute but feel slightly ill at the thought that he will have grown out of them all by Sept.... can use for number 2 though, if that ever happens...

Big summery waves to all

books, think the sandals will be fine too. I was mean and bought DD brown shoes in case bump was a boy, and I was right! Was sick of pink anyway.

It would lovely if you could both put flyers up! I struggle to get them out in London, let alone anywhere else. If you FB me your address I'll send you some.

Dog you need to teach A to mop the floor for you. H loves doing it and it wears him out weilding the mop around. Things get a little soggy though if you put much water in the bucket..

Tree can't fb til I leave work so will check out the photos later. It has been so busy today at work I'm exhausted!

what mobile phones to people have?
i was looking @ getting a blackberry

teaandcakeplease · 08/06/2010 17:23

Don't ask me

I rarely use my mobile except texts. So e-mail and internet don't appeal to me on my phone as I'm always near a computer.

I hear that blackberry software is not as good as IPods though from others
