had to do a new thread as the old one just wasn't pleasing my computer!

Makes me so sad to hear how many of you are scared of dogs - and so too, because people's fear of dogs comes directly from bad dog owners and their lack of control over their pets and respect for other people.

Books, Tea - yes the dog hair thing is a biggy with me as well. I remember going to my friends house as a teenager and seeing her little baby crawling around on a carpet absolutely thick with fur and being so horrified by it. Our dogs aren't allowed in the living room or upstairs - I can't stand furry carpets. I also hate that our house is so small that the dogs have to spend a good deal of their time in the kitchen. Its not so bad in the summer, as they spend about 18-20 hours a day outside if the weather is fine and fortunately prefer being out there, but in the winter its constant sweeping, vacumming and mopping. I never allowed dogs in the kitchen until we moved here. It really is such a huge amount of extra work and I am so over it all these days after multiple years of dog ownership. If we do ever get another dog, it had better be one of these or at the very least one of these!

Well, I have ds1 off today. He has had really bad burning tummy pains which go all the way up to the back of his throat (so obviously reflux) since yesterday evening and has a bad head as well. Frankly he also looks terrible, he is so pale with big dark circles under his eyes. Called the surgery to ask advice and explained the bullying etc and they said they'd like to check him over to rule out anything physical. Lovely GP gave him a full check-up and said physically he is fine, but in her opinion he is suffering from stress and anxiety and the school had better pull their finger out and sort out the problems asap. Been advised to keep him off for the rest of the day and keep him relaxed and happy, so am writing a letter saying he won't be doing his homework and will quote the GP in it so that the stress/anxiety thing goes on record. He is currently sitting next to me laughing his head off at the Pink Panther Show.

Have a meeting with the Headmaster at 9.45 tomorrow morning and then his Learning Support Review on Wednesday at 11.30. Dh is so angry about it all that I'm hoping he might actually be some help in the meetings this time.

Ankle is behaving strangely. I seem to be able to walk on it ok, if gingerly. Then when I stop walking and take the weight of it it hurts like hell. Fortunately Mum is collected ds2 for me today so I don't have to drag it all the way to the school and back. I'm sure it didn't help it carrying dd in her car seat this morning though.

MissJ, I am amazed you managed to cook a roast for all those people without fainting from heat exhaustion. My lot are getting lots of salad at the moment and its a case of like it or - well - starve really I suppose.

Tea, glad you had a nice picnic, even though it was too hot.

120 · 28/06/2010 18:46

moose, sorry to start all the negative dog speak. Thought I'd be the only one. I've often thought about going on one of those courses that de-sensitise myself, but never really got round to it. Ironically inherited the phobia from my mum!

tea, glad you had a good birthday.

Don't worry about it 120. I am a moody mare today. Still got pmt and struggling with this ere ankle. Just started a thread about it in health to see if anyone has any ideas.

That portrait is amazing, same name as my ds2 as well. You are a very talented lady.

120 · 28/06/2010 20:17

great name moose. thanks. sorry I can't contribute much to the ankle debate as my knowledge only goes as far as A level Biology and first aid. Sounds very painful though.

Evening Books. No I didn't hear from them, but it was my Mum that told me doctors recheck the xrays after the weekend and she was basing that on my Gran's broken wrist, which they weren't sure about so called another doctor to look for a second opinion.

Just had some really good advice on my other thread and it does seem like its likely to be a fracture. Think I'm going to have to go back, but am so scared of them poking it again.

Ds1 had a good day, but his behaviour deteriorated towards tea time and was beyond the pale at bedtime. Turns out he doesn't want to go back to school tomorrow as he thinks he will be teased and called a baby for being off sick today. We told him we are seeing the Head at 9.45, but he said that's too late and they will already have started on him by then. Can't keep him off indefinitely though and have no-one to look after him while we are with the Head anyway tomorrow.

Lol at the boob squashing Ergos. That's why I still prefer dd in a front carry in the Moby, I look ridiculous with her in a back carry. My boobs most definitely do not need any help looking page 3 esque. Was hoping they would shrink after I finished bf, but they are still a 34GG, which is exactly what they were before I had dd.

Dog, hope all is well and you've gone in for monitoring.

teaandcakeplease · 28/06/2010 23:02

I have an Ergo too but being a 36A no page 3 moments for me I love it!

Your poor DS Moose

moosemama · 28/06/2010 23:24

Hi Tea

Right, dh and I just finished preparing our battle-plan for tomorrow's meeting. Am off to bed now, just popped back to see if we had heard from Dog.

Dog, hope all is well. ((hugs))

Also, keep meaning to, but forgetting to say hope all is ok with Lenni and HKZ as well. If either of you are reading this, sending big ((hugs)) to you both.

120 · 29/06/2010 07:23

Morning, just checking in to see if DOG is ok - ((more hugs))

Moose, am impressed by your bra size. I was posing about the house when i got to a 34E when in full BF flow. Ergo certainly poses no threat to my bust line.

Hope the meeting goes smoothly for you and you come away with what you are after.

homework for today for someone is a new thread please!

I liked the peachy bums one 120, it was nice.

teaandcakeplease · 29/06/2010 09:01

Right Moose can I make sugar paste or is it easier to buy? I've been thinking about this and need to know as it's worrying me already!

Also Isabella's birthday is on 28th July which is a Weds. Would you do it then or wait until the Saturday? I am aware that people will be starting to go away for hols though if I wait until saturday possibly? But then again most of her friends are in pre school or nursery still? I was thinking if it was on her actual birthday to do it from say 3pm to 5pm ish?

Please tell me what you'd do? I want to do it at the best time for people with pre schoolers and new babies.

teaandcakeplease · 29/06/2010 11:00

do it, meaning a party Sorry

Hope the meetings went ok this morning x

moosemama · 29/06/2010 12:06

Morning

Tea, buy it - even the professionals tend to buy it in as its far too much faff to make.

If it was me and it was those dates I would think about having the party on the weekend before and then doing something low key on her actual birthday. As you said, a lot of people will be going away around then. We have similar problems as both boys birthdays tend to fall in the easter holidays.

I would say 3-5 is a little late for pre-schoolers, 2-4 would be better as it still gives time for wind down and bedtime routines etc. Drives me crackers when people have parties close to bedtime as its much harder to calm everyone down and get them into bed on time. Last party ds2 went to finished at 6.30 on a Sunday evening.

Meeting went well - I think.

  • The school is revising its behaviour and bullying policies as of next September and will be doing an active behaviour/anti-bullying programme as part of the healthy school initiative, as well as doing some stuff during the remainder of this year via SEAL/PHSE (Personal Health and Social Education).

  • They are having an extra staff meeting to discuss playground supervision and where teachers should stand for the best view of the playground.

*The two 'brothers' who have repeatedly picked on ds are going to be the subject of a targetted behaviour programme.

  • Ds is going to get a home-school communcation book so we can keep in touch with the school better and keep each other informed about anything that might be affecting him (I asked for this at the beginning of the year and again at his support review in March )

He is also finally going to have a dedicated time every day to sit with a teacher and discuss the events of the day - good or bad, possibly employing some of the good day/bad day type diary cards that HKZ sent me a while back so* thank you again for that HKZ.

  • They are also going to look at ways of raising his self-esteem and confidence in the school setting.

  • We were informed that the parents of the older boy that cornered him and punched him in the corridor a couple of weeks ago have been called in for a meeting.

Apparently the Head is going through a similar thing with his daughter at the school she attends at the moment, so he took it all very seriously.

Just the Learning Support Review to get through tomorrow now.

Dog hope all is well and you are home resting.

tinktellyaddict · 29/06/2010 12:42

mm - glad meeting went well sounds like things are going in teh right direction

miss j - you did do well cooking 4 that many

have just ordered clothes for dd2 from next using my account
3 pairs of jeans,3 tshirts and a dress
she didnt seem to have any trousers that fitted

enjoyed sing and sign

coller herr today

120 · 29/06/2010 14:06

Tink just did a next shop on Oxford street and thought of you!

Moose, glad meeting went well.

Tea, I second Moose's opinion. Though I rather like late parties, particularly if they feed them and give them a paddling pool. Then I just need to get home, read a story and put them straight to bed. Do make sure you get the sweet stuff out early though (obv after savoury, but not right at the end of the party). That way they have a bit of time to run it off.

moosemama · 29/06/2010 17:50

Anyone heard from Dog? I've been worrying about her all day today. Thought she may possibly have done an update on FB?

120 · 29/06/2010 18:19

will check now - no posts since 6.55 last night.. Don't know if anyone has her mob to text?

Pat - where are you hiding? Probably out running instead of FB! How did that big walk go?

OP posts:
moosemama · 29/06/2010 19:10

Oh no, I do hope she's ok. Maybe they've kept her in for longer obs and monitoring?

I think Pat and Lenni are the only ones with her contact details.

120 · 29/06/2010 19:31

I think you are right - very unusual to have no Dog for 24hrs. Hope she is ok.

hackneyzoo · 29/06/2010 20:27

Crikey Dog, hope you are ok. How many weeks are you now? Will keep checking in to see if there is any new from you x

Moose good that the school are pulling htier finger out finally, well done for kicking thier arses into gear. Do you know who your DS has for a teacher next year? I hope he has a good one. Primary school seems a bit of a gamble depending on whether you get a good form teacher or not. Your Ds sounds like he just hasn't had the consistency and support he needs fro his teacher this year, so I hope he gets the support he deserves.
Howis the ankle bearing up?

120 adn Tink, I sooooo need to go shopping. Have been on a shopping embargo this year as saving up big time for holiday (and for a deposit on a house somewhere at sometime int he future...) and now I really need to get a few summer bits. Toast and Noa noa sale is on at the moment...v hard not to go in. But must stick to H&M budget! DD stll fits in her clothes from last year (just) so she is helping with the economising.

Am trying to ctch up but have only managed the last page or so. So big waves to MissJ, Pat, Lenni, Tree, Books, Stripey, Elki, Chef, tea, and everyone else...

Magically at exactly 12 weeks my morning sickness has faded and I have a bit more energy. It could be to do with the exams at work being over and all my year 10s being on work experience! That was 8 weeks of hideousness. Scan on thursday so hopefully all will be well.

Jude is being very sweet at the moment (although there was a lying on the floor face down screaming incident a few days ago...not ready for another toddler onslaught just yet!)

Not much other news really, just enjoying the sunshine and trying to keep DH away from my enormous pregnant boobs...I'm in serious need of scaffolding.

moosemama · 29/06/2010 21:09

Helloooooooo HKZ, so good to hear from you. Really pleased you are feeling better. Good luck for the scan on Thursday.

The Head told us in confidence who ds's new teacher is going to be next year (the teachers haven't been announced officially yet). Apparently he is going to have the lovely lady who has been standing in for his current teacher while she attends some training courses. She is one of the most experienced teachers the school has and according to the Head manages to get the balance just right between controlling the troubles makers and having empathy and understanding with the less confident ones. She also has lots of experience of having SEN pupils in her class and he said she is excellent at giving them the extra attention and support they need. So - all sounds good, will have to wait and see if it all turns out to be true now I suppose.

Ankle is, well, weird. Its not really all that painful to walk on, but then when I sit down it kills. A lovely lady over on the health board talked it through with me last night and said she felt it was probably fractured and I should go back to A&E. Problem is, I am a big wuss and am too scared to let them poke it again as it hurt so much the first time. I'm also tending to think, as long as I can get around and get on with things there's no justification for going back and potentially wasting their time.

Dd is doing a lovely line in the full on simultaneous collapse/scream version of a tantrum at the moment. Its so comical to watch, just like her legs fold up of their own accord underneath her and she lands on the floor in a crumpled heap. Mum says I used to do exactly the same thing.

moosemama · 29/06/2010 21:10

I really should learn to proof read. Please excuse my horrendous typing tonight ladies.

treedelivery · 29/06/2010 21:17

Hi all.

Am trying to catch up

Am very very glad the meeting was usefull Moose. I hope you see changes very soon.
You shoudl get thet ankle checked Moosey. I think that braks that don't heal well can bite us later when arthritis sets in, so maybe you need to make sure it is settling into a good healing position? Poor you, sounded very very painful!

Helloo HKZ, thank goodness the ms in behnd you. Yay!
