Park was awesome, there was a bouncy castle up and one of those inflatable slides too. Must be specially arranged by council for half term or something?

Awww Slimbridge sounds so sweet, need to go with DCs.

Must be West Wittering? My mum seems to think although it's a bit further to drive, it's good for the kids with the groynes, so they can't run too far one way or the other out of sight. Fancy being near your old neck of the woods. All I need now is the weather to be nice next week and we can go! Tack is tempting but my mum will run a tight ship No deviations allowed! LOL

teaandcakeplease · 04/06/2010 21:13

I'll be looking up that recipe by the way. Sounds lush.

PatTheHammer · 04/06/2010 21:19

Ooooh, can't beat a bouncy castle

Sadly, not my neck of the woods any more but did grow up round there and all my family still live in sussex so we spend lots of holiday time there. Going down first week of hols in July next but it seems an AGE away......................
silly really, I now live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country in the Cotswolds and I do love it but I just yearn for the tacky seaside resort of my childhood in the summer, sometimes I can even smell it if I close my eyes and imagine[wistful]......

teaandcakeplease · 04/06/2010 21:22

Awwww you'll always have a place in your heart for somewhere like that, no matter how beautiful where you've moved to now. Sounds cheesey but it's completely understandable.

PatTheHammer · 04/06/2010 21:26

Its sooo cheesey isn't it! Beacoup la Fromage tonight!!!!

Thing is, I HATED it as a teenager, couldn't wait to leave and join the big smoke (well.........Liverpool, but it seemed MASSIVE to me). Seaside resorts in the winter suck bigtime when you are a teen but strangely now I find them beautiful and a bit ramshackle type thing...............rambling and haven't even had any wine

PatTheHammer · 04/06/2010 21:27

Just realised my French spelling is horrendous, I pick up what little I have from doing cover lessons and reading the textbooks out of boredom

chefswife · 04/06/2010 21:34

Pat Nice little sleep in. You are flattering... I hover between a 12 and 10 but I want to get to a flat out Size 10. I was and 8 before getting pregnant and I think it made me look a bit sunken. Lol at DS feeding you. DD picks my nose or sneaks up and squeals. I didn't know what to do with dinner tonight but you gave me an idea! I have all those ingredients.

I love bouncy castles but alas, they don't let adults on. Good thing they let me on the big water slide at the pool! Its so funny to walk race to the slide when they announce they are turning it on. I'm usually in the first few. The kids treat me like one of their own.

Man, I'm procrastinating today. I have so much baking to do... double recipe stuff. Have a shower to go to Sunday for one of the SuperFlyMums. We are doing up some frozen food for her and then something to bring to eat at the shower. Ok, DH is doing the profiteroles for me for that but I have to make 2 quiches! I have a baked goods going away basket for my friend and some baked goods for a chef friend of ours. The dishwasher needs dealing with; its not emptying. The place is in a weird dishevel. What happened today? lol.

120 · 04/06/2010 21:42

The little ones recipe site is amazing! I didn't join up because I was sick of joining baby things, but I've definitely missed out there! Can't find the recipe you mention though..

I want to go to slimbrige too. stamps foot. AND I'm a member. grr. The Wetlands centre in London is amazing and has a completely fab playground.

Tea, bouncy castle sounds great. BTW for bath paddling, ideally you use a different set of toys (I use kitchen utensils and tupperware, as you would in a garden), but you can still get them washed at the same time, then skip bath time and let them watch a little film whilst you drink wine. Result.

I also fed them a marks & sparks ready meal for supper (the canneloni - £2!). very naughty. It's the only ready meal I've ever bought really, apart from pizza, but DD adores canneloni.

Well done V on cracking the fork!

I was a 10 before pg with DD [sob!] and look at me feeling great for getting into a 12!!

Really I know the ultimate goal should be the size 10 again but it just seems so unobtainable...........

DS picks my nose too, its grim!

I added prawns to the risotto as I didn't quite have enough salmon, one thing I will say is to make sure that your casserole pot can be used on the hob and the oven

PatTheHammer · 04/06/2010 21:46

120- I think its just called oven-baked Salmon risotto but it has butternut squash and peas in it too. I have made a few things from there with a few adjustments and they have always gone down well.

Now, I have some canneloni in the cupboard, do you have a cheaty way of doing it fairly quickly as the few times I have made it it seems to have taken yonks and used nearly every pan I own!

120 · 04/06/2010 21:47

oops, xpost with a lot of you. dog.

pat 15 years ago I was a size 22! Then we moved out to the west coast. I'm finding it hard to get down another size because my hips have spread and my boobs are still a 34D! Size 10 doesn't tend to fit the bustier types.

DOG I read Suze Orman stuff all the time. She really is fab. The best advice I heard from her was not to pay off credit cards because they are canceling them when people pay them off. But she not to pay just the minimal. Its a time when you need to be in a little debt that you can afford to pay because it will maintain your credit rating. We had a credit card canceled because we never used it. I thought it was crazy. But those companies are in the business of making money for themselves, not making sure we can live beyond our means, so this way keeps you in the upper hand i guess.

Another fab idea by 120 on different toys! Genius!

Wish I had wise words for you DOG, I should considering I've lived on a shoe string for a very long time but the only thing I can think of, is that I don't buy anything I don't need, buy Sainsbury's basics for everything, never buy alcohol (although I love it) and never buy treats etc. I'm so boring on my supermarket shop. Cheap shampoo the lot!

Basically everytime I pick something up I say to myself "do I need this?" If the answers no, I don't buy it. Works most of the time. But I do have good friends who bring me nice things when they pop by to see me, so that probably makes up for my frugal existence.

Chef I'm in awe of you on all that cooking and planning etc. 120 is an idol of mine too

I'm a size 16 in UK sizes, although probably closer to a 14. I comfort eat too much now I'm a tired single mummy and can never find the motivation to diet at all. I haven't been a size 12 since I rowed for Marlow many moons ago. I don't think I could get that slim again easily tbh. But a size 14 would be nice. If I ever want to meet a man and for them to find me actually attractive and appealing. But my tummy is awful after 2 big babies and a C section Think it would need more than a diet. More like plastic surgery for a man to fancy me nekked I think.

PatTheHammer · 04/06/2010 22:30

Wow, Chef............... Agree with Dog that I would never have guessed that, you are super-slim now! Well-done you!

Tea- My tummy sucks as well, I seem to be losing weight everywhere but that at the moment, which just makes it protrude further. I don't have the C-section excuse, nor the big baby one just the eating too much in pregnancy one.

FWIW, you sound like an average size woman to me and you are v.pretty and blonde so any man would be lucky to have you anyway

If all else fails, get drunk, breathe in and lots of candlelight...............I use this a lot

chefswife · 05/06/2010 04:59

DOG You make me blush. That's so nice.

Tea Oh ya. My tummy isn't so great either but my boobs get me... they dropped when I first lost the weight and then ballooned when pregnant, and now have dropped again and without those fab pushup bras, these dingle dangles look awful. I am totally getting a lift when I am done having babes. The tummy, I could probably do more pilates. I wish I was more toned but that is coming now that I started more weigh training. DH started coming to the gym with me too as hockey duffer is over till October.

So, I managed to get two quiches (bacon, onion and cheese and broccoli and cheese) for friends freezer food package we are doing and I did two banana breads, which are currently wafting their scent in my direction and my mouth is sort of watering... must resist!

Whew. One is for Ed, chef friend, the other for going away basket for girlfriend. Once I shower and make a tea I can have a piece.

SO! I'm outta here because I want banana bread!

chefswife · 05/06/2010 05:45

Mmm. That was good. (licking lips emoticon)

chefswife · 05/06/2010 05:47

I took the piece off the one for my girlfriend because I know she'd understand.

120 · 05/06/2010 08:15

chef, that's a classic!

morning all. Nice and sunny here. May go and hunt out the elusive HZ. I hear it may no longer be hibernating!

DOG I just went into your fb profile to remind myself of your looks. Are you having a laugh? You're just as pretty! If we all had the money of people like Jennifer Aniston, sure we could have make overs, amazing beauty therapies, personal trainers and hairdressers to make our locks to die for! But we don't, BUT you're lovely looking!

(look away HKZ if lurking) Little munchkin did a poo on potty earlier, think 120 originally said to catch em' in the act and chuck onto potty at high speed, I did and then she went back again and did more of her own accord. Sooo happy. Hope its the start of something.

So we're off out on her scooter after she's had a short nap after 2 busy days out she needs an ickle nap today really.

teaandcakeplease · 05/06/2010 13:29

Talking of haircuts I've only had mine done annually until recently due to money being tight and rarely wear make up as I couldn't really justify cost of buying...
