Hello all, just popping in to say hi.

Bicnod you skinny binny. But I would snoop. (sorry boff), Well actually, I would ask first and then if I didn't believe him I would snoop. Because DH can't lie. Worst liar ever.

LL Wriggly [hugs] hope DH and P&S are ok!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 20/05/2010 22:06

Hello

Have been rather AWOL lately dealing with work nightmares. I still have a job, confirmed today, but sadly they have refused my flexible working request, or rather said it's either FT, or 3/2 job share. I can't afford to work three days a week .

And they know this, the bastards.

So have been having councils of war with DP involving lots of spreadsheets of outgoings and incomings (sadly the former always seems to be larger than the latter) and wondering if we can manage on £15 a month spending money each (we don't think we can) and how much do the boys really actually need to eat (quite a lot, when you factor in the amount of yogurt smeared on things other than their tongues every meal time).

Orbit has just had a nasty virus involving a full body rash, but is on the mend now. Still not walking or talking, but very happy to cruise, shout, stand, and shout very loudly. He might possibly say Hello, Hiya and Dadadadadadadadadaaaaa but it's hard to tell.

Nice skirt, Boff

Bicnod, Orbit too fiddles with washing machines. It's very annoying.

Gah.

Bicnod · 21/05/2010 19:33

Can anyone give me some reassurance here??? Panicking like only a first time mum can panic.

PuzzleRocks · 24/05/2010 13:40

It's like the Marie Celeste

BoffinMum · 24/05/2010 14:04

No it's not. It's just because we're all in the garden!

Bicnod · 24/05/2010 18:49

You'll be relieved (and possibly not at all surprised) to know that O survived the plastic eating incident

AuldAlliance · 24/05/2010 19:37

I'm here. Now, at least.
Back from my conference, and feeling a new woman for it.
Paper went brilliantly, led to lots of cunning ideas for collaborative research projects. Ate out with 2 nice colleagues on Friday night, skived off the Saturday sessions to window shop in Lille, TGV'd home through lovely sunny countrside, got home to find the summer has arrived with a vengeance. Am feeling energised and boosted by the whole outing.

Which is lucky, really, as DH announced yesterday that he and bastard boss "agreed" last week that he will work for him up till Aug 31st and then no more.

Bicnod, glad O is OK, must have been v worrying...

mrsgboring · 25/05/2010 19:04

Oh Auld, so pleased about your conference, but / / a bit of about your DH's job. What do you think this will bring for you all?

Glad O is okay Bicnod

Am not qualified to comment on skirts, Boff (have all the dress sense of a gerbil in drag)

Have been stupidly busy here doing not very much as ever. E has had his MMR and HIB booster today and has come out coincidentally with a very sore bottom so feeling prostrate with maternal guilt and sympathy.

Waves to all and hands out biscuits.

BoffinMum · 26/05/2010 14:32

Good news about conference, Auld!

Hope DH finds some gainful employment after the summer though.

What has happened about your housing problem, by the way?

AuldAlliance · 26/05/2010 21:16

I have no idea what DH will do, TBH.
I have given up stressing over it, though that will no doubt change as the weeks go by. Am trying to see it as a blessing in (heavy) disguise.

Boff, we told the owners we couldn't consider moving out for 6 wks, so they gleefully cancelled the major re-wiring and contented themselves with shifting the electric meter & trip switch into our hallway (which was planned ages ago anyway). None of the other stuff has been done, and we have had to send them a registered letter because a bit of guttering fell down when the mistral was howling. Fortunately no small children were on the terrace at the time.

Like that skirt, BTW.

I am really, really enjoying the time I get to spend with A at the moment He is so cheery and giggling, and so determined and obstinate, it's great fun.
Not so enamoured of his new trick, which is to throw anything he can get his hands on down the stairs (where there is still no stair gate ).

One is a lovely age, do you not think?

BoffinMum · 26/05/2010 21:55

That is pants because I thought you would be renting a flash place in the South of France with a swimming pool and we could move in too come to visit you to see how you were settling in.

BoffinMum · 26/05/2010 21:55

Sorry, I meant move in too

Schulte · 27/05/2010 20:15

'allo 'allo

Bicnod, glad to hear O is fine, did you take him to the docs in the end?

Pants about Auld's DH needing a new job but yes maybe it will mean he'll find a better one and closer to home, fingers crossed!

Nothing new here, Hazel is still not walking and still waking awfully early, and DD1 is full of beans and has very unkempt hair that needs something doing but I don't know what.

Love to everyone!

Oh, and I read a rubbish article about Mumsnet in a business magazine the other day - I can't even remember which magazine, that's how good a PR I am

MrsAFlowerpot · 27/05/2010 21:14

Hi all,

Sorry I've been AWOL. My dad has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver and given that mum passed away of cancer a few years ago it has all been a bit mental. He's only just turned 50, so am also feeling a bit cross with the unfairness of going through this for a second time with a very young parent. Hurrumph, very selfish of me I know.

Otherwise things are fine. Work is going well. A is walking/running - she doesn't know quite how to stop yet. She is constantly jabbering away, just in a language not known to man, although she uses inclination of tone so well that sometimes I'm convinced she's talking! How are all other LOs doing?

BoffinMum · 27/05/2010 21:52

Sorry to hear that, Mrs A
He is only 8 years older than me

PuzzleRocks · 28/05/2010 09:05

So so sorry Mrs A. Best wishes to you, your father and all your family. xx

AuldAlliance · 31/05/2010 20:01

Where is everyone? You can't all be in the garden all the time, surely?

Schulte · 01/06/2010 12:32

In the garden? I am at work!

OP posts:
Schulte · 01/06/2010 12:33

Hugs to Mrs A,too.

Okay it's official now, Bonsoir is not for real. I have just found this little gem: 'I'm always amazed by the farting threads on MN. I never fart - I never need to. So the problem of farting in front of others (which is revoltingly bad mannered IMO) doesn't arise'

kingbeat23 · 01/06/2010 21:13

Have a look st last weeks grazia, there was a crazy fad diet that someone wrote about that sounds so much like her i nearly started a thread asking "is this you"!!!

MrsA have been lurking and just dont know what to say, I'm sorry and hope for all the best, you never know, as the liver is regenerative it could be successful....much love x

AuldAlliance · 01/06/2010 21:15

Sorry, MrsA, I didn't mean to ignore you.
I am also very sorry to hear about your father, and am crossing everything possible for you all.

AuldAlliance · 01/06/2010 21:23

While we are BA-spotting, there's another gem on this thread
Check out the post from Fri 28-May-10 20:51:02, about "low IQ people".

kingbeat23 · 01/06/2010 22:01

BTW - In answer to the Q, how is the LO doing. We have -

Walking (started with 1 or 2 steps at a time, then progressed to just getting up and walking once we got on holiday)

Talking (spanglish - Says; Hola, Heya, Gracoo (thank you), mama (mamammamamamammamamma!!), papa, grandma (baboo), grandpa (bam), look (ook), oh, and bye)

Eating - most things....textures freak her out rather than taste...likes avocado hates mushrooms.

pretty cool and am damn lucky.

I am -

Working (part time - 3 days, much better than the 6 days all hours)

Eating (too much of something apparently as I can't seem to lose that last stone - damn whoever it was that fit into a size bloody 8...see I have been lurking!! )

and

Socialising - with DD, taking her along to kid friendly nights out...feel much better for it.
