COOL!!!!!!! Something I said got used as a thread title! .

Bicnod · 17/05/2010 06:19

Finally we finish the thread

Schulte, can't believe you had no challenges - there's usually someone somewhere with a window open. You must be so proud

I'm knackered. O is teething like MAD and I'm supposed to function at work how?? The joys of being a working mum.

Coffee. That's the only answer.

p.s. can I just brag a little bit about the size 8 dress I bought yesterday for a wedding in two weeks?

AuldAlliance · 17/05/2010 09:14

marking, marking, one, two, three.

Back later, ladies, off to invigilate an exam.

PuzzleRocks · 17/05/2010 10:54

Checking in.

WildRumpus · 17/05/2010 11:19

Hola found you. Sorry been away for so long. Just been on the pet section asking for advice but maybe the fabulous FWs can give me some help too? The cat is now seriously ill. We are probably going to have to make a difficult decision in the next day or two. I don't know what to say to the kids. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks
LLB / wriggly

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 17/05/2010 11:50

Morning lovely ladies

Orbit is ill - has a rash from top to toe and very miserable. My boss is also very miserable, as I am not in the office today, due to the aforementioned Orbit. Jolly good start to the week. Perhaps I can blame Labour for it? Everyone else seems to be

I find out on Thursday if I still have a job. I suspect even if I do, it won't be for much longer, once George Osborne has finished cutting public services.

Bicnod, size 8? That's just obscene

I am learning to hula hoop. Apparently this will restore my pre-baby abs. Ho ho ho.

PuzzleRocks · 17/05/2010 11:57

Oh no.
I don't have a clue, I have never been in that situation. I hope the Pet posters can help.

Are you ok?

PuzzleRocks · 17/05/2010 11:58

WFH - Are you sure it's not Sue's fault?

WildRumpus · 17/05/2010 12:02

Yeah ok. DH in floods on the phone this morning so guess I'll be the one explaining it to DD. Poor old cat.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 17/05/2010 12:28

It could well be Sue's fault. I prefer to think of it as the direct result of 13 years of fiscal irresponsibility, combined with a cavalier approach to handing out money to mothers, disabled people, carers and other terrible sponging types, and Alistair Darling's penchant for expensive biscuits and eyebrow waxing.

Sorry, channelling George Osborne there for a second.

bronze · 17/05/2010 16:26

Change dmy hover thing just for you lot

WildR- Just tell them straight. The cat is very very ill and will probably die soon orThe cat was very very ill and then it died depending on when you tell them. You will be surprised. Kids are better than us adults about these things

OF course he will blame labour, just like labour blamed the Tories and the tories blamed labour etc etc Not exactly news is it

Bicod. No you bloody well can't

BoffinMum · 17/05/2010 22:46

Marking thread
Some home mojo returned thanks to a new skirt and a trip to Paris booked.
However work mojo still absent.

WRT Ladybird reading books and Alpha females, two of my offspring are officially very clever indeed and they couldn't read or do maffs or anything until the age of 7 or so. All the snotty women who boasted about their offspring have seen their kids sink into oblivion over the years tbh.

I keep TELLING people IT AIN'T NO RACE!

AuldAlliance · 18/05/2010 10:03

Glad to hear your home mojo is returning, Boff, hope the work one reappears soon. I want to know about the skirt .

Wriggly/Rumpus, sorry to hear about the cat. I think the others are right, you can be quite honest. DS1 went very quiet when I told him his CM had died, and then made a few soft-spoken, heart-wrenching remarks about how lonely her husband and son would be now, and how sad it was. He has mentioned it several times since, we have been to her grave with a picture he drew for her, and he has expressed a desire to see her son and give him a hug. He hasn't been visibly worrying too much about death or about me dying, though he did ask how old she was and how old I am, which is quite revelatory, I think.

Bicnod, how did you manage that? Have a lovely time at the wedding and make the most of your size 8, since if your wishes come true you'll be waddling around with a big belly in a matter of months.

AuldAlliance · 18/05/2010 10:09

Gah, forgot to ask: Boff/Schulte/anyone else, I need to quote a German critic in my paper on Friday, and wanted to check pronunciation.
Am I right in thinking that Jauss is pronounced more or less like "mouse" IYSWIM?

Oh, and WFH, fingers crossed for your job.

And sorry to anyone I've forgotten, will try and catch up after this blimming conference. Have to catch the 6am bus on Friday, then a TGV to the other end of the country, give my paper at 3pm, collapse in hotel that evening, and get lunchtime train home on Sat. I will be knackered but relieved once it is all over.

Schulte · 18/05/2010 13:21

yes Auld like mouse

need to catch up properly but am in middle of doing some work

BoffinMum · 19/05/2010 16:37

This skirt

Someone is a size 8???

IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!

Although I did ride to school and back twice on the bike with Felix in the trailer today - first bike ride since SPD set in during November 2008. But then I spoilt it all by having strawberry shortcake at lunchtime.

Bicnod · 19/05/2010 17:20

I have to admit that it is a size 8 dress from Monsoon and their sizes are quite generous... so probably not a proper size 8. But it says size 8 on the label

Why oh why does my son insist on turning the dials on the washing machine when it is going?? Arrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhh!!!!

Schulte - so lovely to see you today. Sorry it was such a flying visit - lucky we left when we did as it took us 50 minutes to get home as there were delays getting off the A3. Grrrr. Let's get a date in the diary for picnic with the boys. I'll email you so we don't have to bore everyone else on the thread

ZuluWarrior · 19/05/2010 19:24

Bicnod, I would suggest that there may be a child lock function on your washing machine but I'm not speaking to you.

AA, hope you're not having a meltdown. Good luck for Friday. Although I know it's not about luck .

Boff, welcome back to your gradually returning mojo.

Straw poll: if you thought your husband was cheating on you, would you snoop on him? Even if he might find out? It's not for me - promise! My oldest friend has her suspicions and I'm the only person she's told. Feel a huge weight of responsibility to give her the right advice.

And I think my childminder's pregnant. Arse!

ZuluWarrior · 19/05/2010 19:25

Suspitions? Suspishions? Suspicions just doesn't look right somehow. Suspiscions?

BoffinMum · 19/05/2010 21:41

Snooping is never good.
You can't have a marriage with people snooping about. Best to get it out in the open or totally ignore it, one of the two.

Schulte · 20/05/2010 09:07

Hi, can someone with eczema experience help here please?
