Great news smokey

Thank you for all your lovely support folks, I hope everyone has been enjoying the scorchio weather. We had a lovely weekend which has improved my mood. I am a little bit sunburnt after lathering A up with factor 50 and forgetting to do myself when we went to Gt Yarmouth yesterday. Oops.

I went to a first birthday party on Sat at a v posh friend's house. A friend of theirs was there with his heavily pg model girlfriend. Said heavily pg lady was wearing a skin tight dress, v obvious thong (which made me think, 'ooh the piles'!) and the most humoungous heels with v tight ankle straps I have ever seen. The poor love looked sooooo uncomfortable, I really felt for her but then in equal measure thought, oh my god how stupid! Especially since most of the other people there were in jeans/shorts and various states of baby encrusted mess Made me really remember how p'ed off and uncomfortable I was this time last year though!

hopalongsausage · 24/05/2010 21:49

Who wears clobber like that when they're so up the duff? I mean, duh!

Smokey - HOOOORAY re the results! You must have wooped and cried a bit with relief. Am so happy for you

See, when I heard mention of Dandy's personal trainer Dad, I immediately thought of a chap jogging on the spot in a gym wearing a tracksuit going 'and bend.... and stretch.... kill those carbs....' etc. Ahem...

Sigh. Another row with DH this pm. ILs are coming on Sunday or (BH) Monday. DH forgot that I said I didn't want them round after I come out of hospital on Saturday. He can't understand why, either. I said to him that he wouldn't want my parents hanging around if he, for eg, had just had a vasectomy or something. He replied by saying that he wouldn't exactly be waggling it around, to which I replied 'well, I'm not exactly going to be wandering around with my bum in the air but I will be in PAIN and want to REST' (and not wait hand and foot on them like I usually do, listening to inane singing by MIL - remember, she was singing Jingle Bells in July.......)

Still. We had a nice weekend, went to a farm-y petting type place for M's birthday on Friday, went to my brother's for a BBQ on Saturday (tummum - I saw signs for where you live - it's so close - will organise something proper, I promise), and then a big family lunch out in the cotswolds which my parents boycotted as my Mum was being arsey - it was my uncles' 75th and 80th birthdays.... lots of cousins and all that malarkey.... then there were lots of toasts with my uncles and aunts getting all maudlin and toasting their parents and grandparents, helpfully in Welsh (which only they could speak, how nice) - and I'm sort of friends again with my Auntie - I don't know if you remember my nasty Auntie who 'disowned' me when I fell pregnant as I wasn't married () and all that. So that's all ok I spose.

Another sigh. We are sans shower. Bloody leak. Soaking wet walls (into M's room too). HOW do I have a bath at 5.30 am when I have to go to work?!!! Pah.

Oooh and hello to 1stMrsF - was actually only thinking about you the other day!

Llare - I haven't had time to fb properly (only on my phone) so hopefully when I get a chance in the next few days I will reply to your lovely message...

Phew. On that note, I'm off to bed!

(oh and ps thank you to all who sent M lovely birthday wishes!)

essenceofSES · 24/05/2010 21:49

smokey - that's great news
Yes, this is actually going to happen!

running - glad you had a good weekend. I'm a little bit sunburnt too on one shoulder!
at "heavily pg model girlfriend"
I really just wanted comfort whilst I was pg!
Oh, and hope your friend manages to get her baby to move round!

Tummum - Hope DH is doing better. Must be the wkend for DH crashes as mine drove into the back of someone on the M25 this morning leaving his car undrivable. Fortunately he's ok but I'm wondering whether the whiplash will come out tomorrow...
Anyway, I sympathise also with the frustration of your DH being a bad patient. Hope he learns to be a better patient!

Pula - glad S is doing better but poor DS1 Hope it clears up quickly for him (and I get to meet you on Friday!)

talking - no words at all from O yet. Plenty of babbling but not anything that really makes sense yet. He makes lots of noises but I do wish he said "mama" a bit more!

He's a bit under the weather today. I'm hoping it's just the hot weather but nursery said he wasn't himself at all today and they phoned to ask permission to give him a dose of paracetamol as he had a bit of a temperature. He's already woken up once this evening so I hope I'm not set for a rough night...

essenceofSES · 24/05/2010 21:52

Oh, meant to say I started couch to 5K today! I'm taking it a day at a time as I find running a real struggle Anyway, I managed today's programme and get a day off tomorrow before going again on Wednesday.

flippinegg · 24/05/2010 22:14

Finally back to check in!

smokey - fab news, what a relief for you.

running - hope the website is useful and that the LO turns. I could live without the cake and wine if you could arrange for A to sleep through a few times please? Lol (only a little bit, she can have some sympathy too)at model girlfriend; wonder how she'll cope with the mess that babies make?

sausage - at your DH and lack of understanding. Hope the weekend doesn't turn out to be too bad.

Tummum - hope your DH improves soon, both healthwise and attitudewise! Broken collar bones can be very painful though, my brother fainted when he broke his (mountain biking).

A is teething, she has two new teeth and more seems to be happening. Sleeping not so good again. We got her first shoes today! just cruisers, she doesn't need 'proper' shoes yet.

She doesn't really talk, but has just making a sort of 'woof' noise to mean dog. Her understanding is great though, she already knows where he shoes are if you ask her! She also answers yes or no questions by nodding or shaking her head as appropriate...well, sometimes, anyway! DD1's favourite game at the tea table is to ask A random questions to see what the answer is.
DD1: do you like bananas?
A: [nod]
DD1: do you like pink?
A: [shakes head]
DD1: does daddy smell?
A: [nods]
Much hilarity all round.

We're off the hospital tomorrow, it's A's allergy tests, so hopefully we'll know whether she is allergic to egg or not.

flippinegg · 24/05/2010 22:16

Knew I'd forget something. ses - well done of counch to 5k, hope it goes ok. A friend of mine is trying to persuade me to do a 10k with her in July. I haven't run for 3.5 years.

essenceofSES · 24/05/2010 22:16

Hello flip! Loving the tea time game your DD1 plays with A
Hope tomorrow goes ok. When do you get the results?

pulapula · 24/05/2010 22:20

saus - I feel that i missed M's birthday. Happy belated birthday to the little chipolata .

ses- i may need to join you on the couch to 5k. I do a lot of the couch bit, but i'm doing a 5k run in (gulp) 7 weeks time . Is that enough time to do the couch to 5k? I think llare did it but can't remember how long it took?

smokey - glad to hear both beans are OK . That must be a weight off your mind.

Well it is nice to have not had to get off the sofa and climb 2 flights of stairs every half hour this evening, so a sign that DSs are on the mend. DS1 still won't speak or eat as his throat is sore - he just nods or shakes his head (or cries). But he did perk up at about 6pm tonight and start playing, and enjoyed his bath which was a good sign. Fingers crossed he will be well for Friday, as he would love the railway museum and I am looking forward to seeing you lovely ladies too in York.

flippinegg · 24/05/2010 22:23

oh, typos, sorry. Couch to 5k. well done.

pulapula · 24/05/2010 22:24

ses- i've just looked up "couch to 5k" and it says it takes a couple of months. My 5k run is 11 July so I'd better get a move on!

essenceofSES · 24/05/2010 22:41

The programme I'm using takes 9wks but I'm sure you could tweak it. I'm struggling to believe I'll ever do 5k tbh but one day at a time!

Right, I'm off to bed! 'Night all!

llareggub · 24/05/2010 22:44

Smokeybacon Great news! I was thinking about you all weekend wondering if you'd had the news.

Couch to 5k yes, I did it! I started just after the new year for a week then the snow hit and I didn't do much for a while due to ice bergs and snowstorms etc. I made 5k after around 8 weeks and it is amazing how quickly I went from running 1 minute to continuously running 5K. It really, really works. If you haven't done any running before (like me) it seems very scary but it isn't and it is very addictive. My top tip is to download the podcasts, get your ipod out and use the podcasts to keep you motivated. There is a thread on here somewhere too.

sausage sorry to hear you've argued. I have to say inlaws are a source of strain in our house too. Can you not wait on them? Take yourself off to bed, woman!

I had a very embarrassing moment today. I fell over at the gym on Saturday but braved heels to work this morning. As I walked across the road, in front of many, many bored commuters, I thought to myself that I walking very well on my sprained ankle, despite the heels. I then fell. Ouch! I can however confirm that M&S anti-laddering tights do not ladder, despite their barely there appearance. I am now resting with my foot up and will not be running this week!

TUMMUM oops, caps lock. How is the patient?

pula I'm so glad the DCs are on the mend. I hope you make York.

Babbling we've had quite a bit of babbling, with the odd word that could be a word but also be gibberish. He'll wave in response to "bye-bye" and says something that sounds a bit like yes. He is cruising, and pushing his fire engine around to walk, but he is quite a way off walking I think.

belgina LOL at your uncle. Some people are never happy, are they?!

I hear a baby crying....when will G sleep consistently? Last night was a nightmare...

muddleddaizy · 25/05/2010 14:11

Hello - remember me!!! Where does the time go?? I get time to read, but not post!

Sorry for those having Dh problems. Hope things don't get too bad. We've had a few discussions over the past week or so. Usually about sex. [sigh]

Smokey congrats on the cvs news, must be such a relief. Am so excited for you!

Was going to do a huge name check, but ds1 wants help with a jigsaw puzzle, so hopefully I'll be back soon...

hopalongsausage · 25/05/2010 17:49

What's 'couch to 5k'? Am I being completely lardy and inefficient in not knowing?

Llare - ouch poor you. But hurrah re anti laddering tights - must investigate those as bearing my legs to the world is not a pretty sight!

Pula - thanks for the belated wishes for M!

Flip - how did A's allergy tests go? Is she allergic to egg?

My brother called today....

Bro: OMG I hear you're going into hospital!
Me: Erm, yes. Who told you?
Bro: Other bro. What's the matter, is it your hip?
Me: Erm no. I have to have my piles removed.
Bro: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!

It's not bloody funny. Apparently I have to wear a brick sanitary towel for days afterwards to catch drips (vom emoticon). God.

essenceofSES · 25/05/2010 20:53

saus - couch to 5k see here
I'm using this iPhone App too
2nd run is due tomorrow and my trainers have given me the biggest blister on my left heel! I'll have to get a big cushiony plaster!
How lovely and supportive of your brother

muddled - hello! We had a big discussion about sex last night too...

Llare - ouch! Hope your ankle's better today. Worth knowing about those tights though!

Spoke to my brother and SIL earlier. I think I've mentioned them before when there was the floods near them up in the Lake District (they live in Keswick). SIL is head teacher at a v small village primary school and it seems she got caught up with this coach crash and was early on the scene and then set her school up as an emergency centre. She then found out that she knew the man that was killed from the car. Makes it all seem v real
Everyone hug those they love close.

belgina · 25/05/2010 21:23

ses Oh no, how sad for your SIL

ses tummum Hope your DH's are OK. Both sound like they were scary accidents.

saus Sorry to hear about the arguements. I think some people (men) don't think when it comes to that sort of thing. Could you get your DH to do the waiting for once?

smokey Great news!! Hopefully you can now enjoy your pregnancy a bit more.

pula great news that your dcs are starting to get over the HFM.

llare Lol (sorry) @ your embarrasing moment. It's the getting up in a distinguished, nothing happened fashion afterwards that's the difficult bit.

babbling C doesn't babble with meaning yet, but yesterday and today she was really funny when she started babbling really quickly and aggitatedly (?sp) instead of crying when she got upset. Really funny because just went on and on, lol.

couch to 5k Sounds very impressive. I'd like to try because I need more excercise, but I think I'm a bit too lazy busy to try.

I have discovered the most amazing thing today when I put c to bed: a molar!! She was laughing and it just caught my eye. That might explain the last few nights being a bit more unsettled than usual. Both my dds have been getting their teeth in the 'wrong' order. C's incisors came through in an odd order. I was expecting canines next, but no. Tooth no 9 is a molar!

smokeybacon · 25/05/2010 21:25

ses and saus am of your running. I really miss it! I did the couch to 5k when R was about 8 weeks old, and downloaded Robert Ullreys podcasts. I thought they were pretty good if you can get past Raahhhhbert's smooth voice.

Your poor sis ses aswell. Hope she is ok and not too traumatised, but I expect that is unlikely in the circumstances.

saus boys eh? My brother would have given the same reaction. So juvenile!

llare oh dear about your little fall. Hope the ankles better today. And have you watched the Lost finale yet? Am I right that you were a fellow Lostie? We watched it last night. Would be interested to hear your verdict!

flip PMSL at A's nodding to random questions.

Am watching the programme about the twins joined at the head. Not sure its a good idea. I have been randomly crying at stuff this week. Blardy hormones.

llareggub · 25/05/2010 21:34

smokybacon I can't watch things like that twin programme since having children. We're a few episodes away from the end of Lost. I've been avoiding anything Lost related threads because I don't want the ending spoiled! Will definitely want to discuss it afterwards.

Belgina I'm amazed by the molar! How funny. How are things at work now?

ses The bus crash was awful. What to say?

pula get out there running and you'll be fine for JUly!

I hope your blisters improve. I found the first week of couch to 5K so hard but really so addictive!

sausage good luck with the op. My friend had the same a few years ago and she has been happily pile free since.

1stMrsF · 25/05/2010 21:48

I feel so welcome! Thank you everyone for your kind words.

smokey congratulations on both the twin pg and the good CVS results. As suggested, my bump pics are still on my profile, but perhaps you won't want to look! My twins were born at 38weeks weighing 6.12 and 7.6 though, so it was a freakishly large bump.

pulapula · 25/05/2010 22:13

ses- hope your sister is OK - what a tough experience to go through. Have you been running tonight? I have decided my running nights will be Weds, Fri and Sunday, with badminton on Monday nights too. So I really must go out tomorrow . It's so hard to get motivated.

Well we thought DS1 was improving. Last night was the first night they have all slept through in a year - it was wonderful, although S was up for the day at 5.30 . But DS1 is so miserable tonight with a sore mouth/throat and a temperature that I plan to take the morning off and get to the doctors.

belgina- I saw on FB about Cs molar although looking on the t'interweb, apparently they should come before canines. My DDs teeth came through in a strange order - she got 6 front teeth, then 4 molars (starting at 10 months ), then the remaining 2 front bottom teeth, then canines and final 4 molars. DS1 was funny too, getting his molars before one final incisor, so guess we may find S cuts his molars next.

And nursery were when S picked up a spoon and fed himself today. As they have 3 babies to feed each, the babies have to wait in between mouthfuls unless they can self-feed. S always waits but gets impatient but doesn't start getting his hands stuck in to get it sooner like the others [lazy boy emoticon]. We'll see if he expects us to still feed him tomorrow .

belgina · 25/05/2010 22:15

OMG 1stMrsF I made the mistake of having a look at your old bump pic. smokey STAY AWAY from that pic!

llare THanks for asking. Work's been OK. It's next month that'll be the challenge: LW for 2 months.

belgina · 25/05/2010 22:18

x-post pula My dd1 also got her teeth in an unusual order, but C's the 1st one to get molars before her canines. It was quite a surprise. She'd nearly started sleeping through (going until 5-5.30), but the last week seemed to have been a little more unsettled again. I think I know now what was causing that.

llareggub · 25/05/2010 22:24

I was going to post on Sleep but I thought I'd ask here first.

I'm not sure if you remember but I used to call DS2 the incredible sleeping baby. From around 24 weeks he has been anything but and now it is a NIGHTMARE. He still wakes every couple of hours and still ends up in our bed.

What on earth can we do about it. We are beyond the end of our tethers...

flippinegg · 25/05/2010 22:36

llareggub - I'm not the right person to advise at all, A doesn't sleep brilliantly either.

1stMrsF can't remember if I said hello and welcom or not! And muddled, hello again!

ses, hope your SIL is ok, that sounds really horrible for her, and the community.

sausage at your DB. Grrr.

A's allergy test would suggest that she isn't allergic to egg, so goodness knows what caused the reaction she had. We're to introduce egg again slowly and in a certain order of 'cookedness', iyswim. I'm a bit nervous about it though.

DD1 is still suffering with the conjunctivitis. I think she's ill as well, but can't work out what. Or maybe it's all the eye stuff that is just making her feel really rotten. I don't know.

Off to bed now, need to get an hour or two before A wakes and ends up in bed with us.

llareggub · 25/05/2010 22:38

flippinegg, DS2 has conjunctivitis again too, and a cold.
