Here you go ladies...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
belgina · 22/06/2010 23:02

ses How scarey. I'd have struggled staying on the conference too. Glad he's ok now

belgina · 22/06/2010 23:02

Can't spell anymore... I meant scary

essenceofSES · 23/06/2010 21:04

What a tennis match eh?

This morning I went out with O at 10am and got back around 2pm. The dogs normally bark when they hear us come back but they were particularly noisy today. Transpires that Megan had got stuck! Her name tag had got caught in the drainage grille on the patio and she couldn't move her head! I've no idea how long she had been like that for but poor thing was in direct sun and had a good drink of water after I'd set her free.
Poor thing!

Also found out today that one of my NCT friends is 9wks pg. I must confess to being a bit . Just hope it happens for us as easily in a few months time...

Thanks for your messages about O. He seems fine now but was v scary at the time. I was all ready to just leave the conference - to the extent that I didn't have any alcohol incase I had to drive I decided to await the blood test results and decide what to do then - I just didn't anticipate it all taking 5hrs! Anyway, he seems fine and I'll take him to nursery tomorrow.

Quiet on here - hope everyone's ok?

cherrytom · 23/06/2010 21:22

Sorry to have been away for so long- am totally rubbish at keeping up to date with y'all right now.
I keep having mammoth catch ups on the thread and there is always so much that a namecheck post seems a bit daunting...
...so I'm just going to drop back in as though I haven't been away from the thread for aeons

febes · 24/06/2010 13:16

hi Cherry

cherrytom · 24/06/2010 20:46

Hi Febes - did I scare everyone off last night or is the thread a lot quieter these days?!

essenceofSES · 24/06/2010 20:59

Hi cherry !
This thread is a lot quiter these days! Work and mobile babies seem to get in the way
How are things with you? Your recent photos on FB are great!

It's our 4th wedding anniversary today. As tomorrow is Friday, we're going out for a meal at our favourite restuarant. DH has said he will pay and drive He also got me a couple of chick lit books, some flowers and a card

cherrytom · 24/06/2010 21:04

hello Ses
We are good and thanks for the nice comment about my photos- I love being able to see everyones photos on FB- it's great to see all our babies growing up

Happy wedding anniversary- lucky you with the meal out, if you are anything like us an evening out is a very rare occasion, in fact I think I've only been out once since Jake was born! Hope you have a great time and you will be able to enjoy a glass of wine if you don't have to drive

essenceofSES · 24/06/2010 21:07

Yes - it will be our second "date" since O was born and I most certainly will make the most of it with a bacardi and diet coke followed by some nice wine!
Should I be worried that I'm planning my alcohol consumption?!

momino · 24/06/2010 21:19

hi Cherry, how are you? it does seem to be quieter on here lately.

Ses, hope Megan is ok, bless.

Febes, how's the moving plans going?

i'm not on here as much either as I've got to do work in the evening and daytime a bit mad with the DDs. any little spare time is on FB which seems to be easiest for quick catch up.

now. please may I boast a bit? (pretend I'm a precocious 5 year old). I'm slightly insecure so need a bit of a pat-on-the-back once in awhile to feel good about myself (at least she's honest, you say).

anyway, I've stopped the cello because i'm rubbish it's too expensive to do lessons and I've not enough time for the palaver of practising every day. So, I've switched to the piano which is sitting in the corner and I can take a 5 min break from work in the evening to tinkle the keys so to speak. I've been practising the same song over and over for a few months now (bless my family) and have just today played through the entire thing without error and without stopping! it's this piece from Satie which I learned by watching this youtube video scores of times.

sorry, i don't mean to be show offy but I never feel like I'm good at anything.
maybe it's a mid-life crisis? and I'm telling you because I don't know who else to tell!

oh, and another catch is that the piano still hasn't been tuned . bless my family (she says a second time).

hope everyone else is feeling well and happy tonight.

momino · 24/06/2010 21:22

oh, and Happy Anniversary, Ses!

cherrytom · 24/06/2010 21:24

at planning your alcohol consumption!

You have to make the most of it when you don't get out much don't you!!
Is nice now it's good weather though as we have been inviting friends round for bbqs in the evening, so that makes up for not going out.

momino · 24/06/2010 21:29

Ses/Cherry, I don't think DH and I have been out on a 'date' once since H was born . must work on that.

cherrytom · 24/06/2010 21:31

hello momino
the tune you linked to is lovely- well done you

I used to play saxophone when I was younger, haven't played it for years but I have kept it with the intention of playing again one day... not sure I'll ever get round to it though!

momino · 24/06/2010 21:35

do you know what it is, cherry? it's boredom. I'm supposed to be working and instead I'm on MN or taking a break on the piano. so I've done literally 5 min every day which is about all I can afford but it's enough to make me feel relaxed (like this glass of wine ).

I loooove the saxophone. please, please play it again.

cherrytom · 24/06/2010 21:37

You wouldn't love the noise I would make if I played the saxophone now after not playing for years!!!!!

Wine here too

llareggub · 24/06/2010 22:23

Evening all! Lovely to "see" you again, Cherrytom.

Thank you all for the good wishes following my test. I'm still confused about how I feel but we've agreed to delay TTC (again!) for a few years or so.

We've had a lovely few days away in my home town. Great weather, beaches, swimming, it was great. But blimey, it was hard work on my own with the boys. Mucho respect to those of you who regularly have to cope alone with the children while DHs work away. I had no IDEA how hard it is.

Momimo boast away. The piano has always struck me as being ridiculously hard. How on earth do both hands and feet work independently AND read music? Well done you!

Ses enjoy your date! Lol at alcohol consumption. You must have been so worried about O but I'm so glad things are OK now. Next time you are in Cov let me know.

Blotted I hope all is OK. I saw your FB status.

Belgina I know what you mean about letting go of baby things. We have a buggy that we've used from birth and I am using it a lot more with DS2. I think I am reluctant to see him move on! We've also got a Zapp but I'm not too impressed with it. It is the lack of reclining seat that bothers me. How do you find it?

Smokey I've been thinking about your post about doulas and maternity nurses etc and I wondered if it would be helpful to think about what you'll need help with specifically? WHen I had DS2 I found that it was DS1 that needed more than I could give and I would have appreciated someone coming in to look after him, rather than someone to care for the baby. If it helps, I saw my friend with twins this week and she is remarkably chilled about it all. SHe told me that she doesn't find it too difficult.

DS2 is crying. Better go.

Blottedcopybook · 24/06/2010 22:57

Hello hello!

Just bookmarking, I'll be back tomorrow for a proper natter. Any gossip? xx

FiByTheIcySea · 24/06/2010 23:54

hiya everyone will do my best to catch up proper like tomorrow..
waves to cherry don't worry about keeping up.. i'm not managing on v much either atm momino for same reasons as you.
hope G gets better soon blotted

Blottedcopybook · 25/06/2010 07:59

Thanks Llare and Fi, she has woken up quite bright and breezy but has already vomited so we'll need to see how she goes today.

I saw Looby's fb update, is she okay?

I'm off to read back through the last cough 20 pages!

belgina · 25/06/2010 11:27

Hi everyone,

cherry Nice to see you after all this time

ses Happy anniversary!

Blotted Hope G gets better soon. Looby hasn't been on here in ages. I've had a f/b chat with her a little while ago and she was really down at the time. It's a lack of support thing.

momi Well done on taking up the piano. Sounds like you enjoy it too.

llare I'm liking the zapp in terms of manoeverability (?sp) and the fact it folds so compactly. But the lack of reclining seat is also bothering me. However I barely ever use a buggy nowadays, so I've decided to stick with it. On the other hand, I'm not happy about the lack of basket and it's flimsiness either. I've seen older ones that had quite a bit of use and they seem to not last all that long. Our Maclaren on the other hand lasted us 6 years and was still going strong (albeit a bit squeaky) when I gave it away between dd1 and C. Knowing what I know now I would have spent the money on a Maclaren. Much better quality for a similar price.

*smokey. I'm agreeing with seeing where you need the help. Maybe someone to entertain the elder 2 or to do your housework would be more helpful and possibly cheaper. I know that's where I needed the help when C came along. C herself was 'mine', lol.

Here everything is well, except for me dreading having to go on on a night shift tonight and tomorrow. I want to sleep tonight, not work It doesn't help that I'm still tired from yesterday. I didn't realise I was on call and was woken at 2.30 to go and help out and stayed up from then until 9pm, because I had lots of things to do yesterday.
C's now confidently walking pushing the baby walker. She's clearly getting there. Once she can walk properly I think we'll start TTC.

Right time to get back to some housework.

ReeBee · 26/06/2010 12:37

Hi everyone, hope you're all well.

Things are good here - usual niggles with trying to get too many things done in too little time, and quarrels with DH, but F is brilliant; walking with his walker now and often very naughty (which I find hilarious - I am truly a bad mummy).

I've also rediscovered my career - love my job but need to be away at least 3 nights a fortnight so considering whether we can afford DH to go part time. I would be jealous of the time he had with F but he's miserable at work anyway at the moment.

TTC?! ha ha ha ha ha ha

Will NC in the next day or two.
