Oh and Spot getting exciting!!

Veggiemummy · 30/04/2010 22:22

Hey has anyone heard from Kiwi? She had that headache the other day and hasn't been on since and haven't seen her on FB? Hopefully she's just taking it easy.

TheInvisibleHand · 30/04/2010 23:51

Can I come and rant a bit?? Its DD's birthday tomorrow and today has been one catalogue of disasters.

Nursery normally do cake and candles for the birthday girls/boys. But due to some tedious miscommunication (their fault completely, but too boring to explain) nursery refused to take the cake we had brought for her, so she had to miss out.

Then, for her present, we had bought her a toy kitchen for her birthday and were settling down to put it together so it would be ready in the morning when DH realised a whole pile of screws were missing. So DH did a mercy mission to the 24 hour Tesco and came back with a mr potato head, so she would have something to open in the morning.

Her party on Sunday is meant to be an outdoor treasure hunt type thing in the park. But obviously the forecast is for it to pour with rain.

Oh and DS managed to pull my bedside light down and break it.

What else is going to go wrong??

Sorry had to get that off my chest.

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 06:20

Anyone want 2 cute looking boys?? They have had me up most of the night. DS2 ended up in my bed and eventually DS1 went back to sleep. Luckily they are at their dads tonight. DS2 looks so cute though when he is asleep.

ZJ DS1 does 'the Drogba' too!! Actually to annoy my brother I have taught him to do his Chelsea impression. He rolls around on the floor clutching his leg.

Rubena I hate the dentist. My filling came out a few weeks ago and I haven't plucked up the courage to make an appointment yet.

Hope everyone is well.

Rubena · 01/05/2010 07:31

Not only Kiwi Vag, Urbane is still awol and it's been ages and ages? Lady even texted and you facebooked but nothing. Hopefully kiwi just resting.

Invis sorry to hear about one disaster after another, It always means there is a bout of good news ahead though on the positive side.
You never know, the weather forecast has been badly wrong round here recently.

Gotta go get ds sorted for swimming... He's getting dunked under today

Aubergines · 01/05/2010 08:16

Morning All,

Invis - so sorry to hear DD's birthday plans got so messed up. I bet she won't notice the present issue as at this age size if present us irrelevent (DD1 was more excited about the chocolate in her Christmas stocking than the massive dolls house - she still talks about the chocolate today but never plays with the house...). I hope you can come up with an alternative plan for the party. Let us know how it goes.

Sybs - I love the name Flora but DH refuse to consider it because of the margarine slogan "Flora spreads easily". Maybe don't share that one with your neighbour!

Hi Indith! - Lovely to hear from you. Good luck with sorting the sleep issues.

Veggie - I am sorry your DS2 was so testing yesterday. I do know how you felt. Will your DH be staying put for a bit after this trip? I do hope spas he has been away so much recently.

Spot - so exciting about the flat and the imminent re-test. Is that flat in that famous 1930's block on Hove seafront? If so I know it well.

Kayz - thanks for the offer but I'll decline two sleepless boys. At least you have a night off tonight. How often does your ex take the boys and how is the split working out?

Day 3 of detox and I actually feel pretty good on it. I am not doing a very severe one. Just no wheat, dairy, alcohol, meat, sugar or salt. And lots of water. I bought an AMAZING veggie cookbook to inspire me. I can really recommend it to the veggies on here as it has changed my whole outlook on veggie food. I have momentarily forgotten it's name but will check and link to it.

And yes where is Kiwi? And I really miss (and worry about) Urbane and Mom.

EffiePerine · 01/05/2010 08:19

Invis: I'm sure your DD will be thrilled with Mr Potato Head and anything you devise! We are v lazy over birthdays as balloons alone send the boys into raptures. Maybe they are understimulated! If it's raining I'd grit my teeth and go to one of those kiddie friendly food places like Giraffe and then to a pet shop or something (bearing in mind the horror hamster stories).

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 08:21

Aub he has them every other weekend and 1 night in the week. His bloody mother is still being a pain in the arse though. She doesn't like him having them there. She thinks I should give him a key to my house.

Invis sorry yesterday didn't go well. Hope today is much better for you.

spotofcheerfulness · 01/05/2010 08:27

well bugger me sideways

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 08:36

What Spot????

Aubergines · 01/05/2010 08:40

Arrghhhhh Spot, why are we buggering you sideways !!!????!!!!!

Tell, tell, tell!

(apologies if you have told, it's taking my phone hours to reload this thread at the mo).

spotofcheerfulness · 01/05/2010 08:44

erm....second cheapo test I tried out this morning was positive. Am going to mend my cheapskate ways and go ito town to buy a more expensive digital one but am pretty sure this is right.

Lordy me.

daisydora · 01/05/2010 08:45

spot Don't keep us in suspenders!!??

Kayz & indith great tohear from you both again.

Don't get me started on thecost of dentists itsa real bug bear of mine! When i was pg with DD DH had tohave some work done on his bridge(4 teeth I think) cost over £2000. Yes our dentist is private, all NHSones are full. I still get mad and feel faint when ithink aboutit now!

Both DC's are going back to the cabbage patch this morning. They play nice, then they start to get a bit rough, then all hell breaks loose. DD had DS in a headlock earlier. He was crying as she wouldn't let him go, then when she did he sat on her and she couldn'tget him off her. Then he bit her....arrggghhhh.

Oh and veggie don't feel bad about getting cross with DS2. I sortof smacked DS on the back of the hand yesterday whenhe bit me....didn't work, didn't make me feel better. But sometimes it all gets too much doesn't it?

daisydora · 01/05/2010 08:47

x post spot eek...how do you feel?

Have to say I used el cheapo to test with DD, it wasnegative. Two days later with Clear Blue I was defo pg.

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 08:47

Congratulations Spot!!!!!!

Veggiemummy · 01/05/2010 08:50

OMG Spot!!!!!!

spotofcheerfulness · 01/05/2010 08:52

Thanks! I feel terrified frankly, pleased too, but aware that we're planning to downscale house wise just as our family is upscaling size wise! Also not sure what it means for work (i.e I;ve only just registered as self employed again and not sure what I need in order to qualify for MA). But a pretty much exact 2 year age gap will be nice I think.

Also shouldn't get ahead of myself as is obv v early days - please no one on FB say anything!

Veggiemummy · 01/05/2010 09:06

Wow that's just amazing Spot. I hope that flat has room for more Spots!

I'm living on borrowed time the boys are running around the loungeroom screaming at each other and playing hopscotch with thr couch pillows (don't ask it just works, DS1 designed it so DS2 doesn't hurt himself if he falls). I know eventually one of them will run to far too fast and smack into the wall.

Thanks Aubi, I know you have the feminine version of my boys and I hate to think you have hassles too but it is also nice to know you understand how I feel with DS2.

Invis that is really hard for DDs birthday. How old? I always wanted a Mr Potato head as a kid so I'm jealous. Maybe you can complain big time about the screws and get money off! But anyway she is sure to have a great time even if you have more stress trying to figure out what to do in the rain.

Hi Kayz, your MIL must be a nightmare at the mo. Is eveything friendly between you and your ex though.

Veggiemummy · 01/05/2010 09:12

Spot if you've worked 6 months out of the last 15 your entitled. Though that may have changed with the new extended MLA. You'll be fine. How many beds is the new place. Bunk beds and loft beds are awesome. DS1 is in a tiny room but with the bed we got him all his toys fit underneath it and he can play under there. If there wasn't the fear of DS2 falling out of bed I'd get a loft bed. Seriously creative storage solutions are the way forward. Have you got any photos of the place?

waitinggirl · 01/05/2010 09:17

oh, spot spot spot spot spot spot!!!!!

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 09:24

Veggie things are a bit strained really. Most days I want to slap him. So do my best friends too. He popped round to get the rest of his stuff the other day an had a go at me about the amount of empty alcohol bottles. I just hadn't got round to putting them out yet but he thought I had drunk it all in 1 weekend. He had a go at me for smoking the other day right in front of the boys. I was not impressed as he upset DS1. Grrrrr

Veggiemummy · 01/05/2010 09:59

That's a bit rubbish he is having a go at something you are doing which he perceives as bad for the boys, yet he does it in such a way that it upsets them. Bit stupid really. I'd be careful though, does he want custody of the kids?

Still giggling about 'Flora spreads easily'.

I have Urbane's address but worried it would be a bit stalkerish to send her a letter. Maybe she's just busy with life and will pop back (& on facebook when she has time).

Rubena · 01/05/2010 10:08

SPOT!!!!! YAY! I had a feeling seeeeeee!!

You're in the clacker positive club now - nada on FB don't worry - so pleased for you -when does that make you due? x

Vaggie - agreed re Flora marg

Swimming was great - he didn't mind his dunking

Kayzr · 01/05/2010 10:43

I can't see him wanting custody. He doesn't seem to care about seeing them. I don't think he would see them much if I didn't moan at him.

spotofcheerfulness · 01/05/2010 12:21

Sorry things are tricky with your H Kayz, how are you feeling about the situation at the moment?

I'm afraid i'm gonna have to cut and run, off to my mum's for the weekend and not sure if I'm going to be able to get on. Just did a Clearblue digi test now and def pos, and our offer has just been accepted on the flat so some major life changes ahead! Hope you all have good weekends.
