HUZZAH!

notjustanumber · 09/04/2010 13:23

Hello I found it ! And BTW, boys are very smelly, we call DS2 pigpen in this house as he needs another bath about 30 mins after he had the last one.

Very envious of robotic household helpers. It would be great to be able to set them off at night and wake up to a lovely clean smelling house. I have really given up with ours. There is no way I can keep on top of it, so I've become a slattern.

Well we have been outdoors here all morning enjoying the spring - I love it ! I think I must have some form of SAD because I am so much more cheery when the weather is like this.

Lady I'm not sure what to make of Liz Jones. Is she for real ? I read her column sometimes and I wonder is she is parodying herself. I was also thirsty during pregnancy but for me is was less noticeable than the cravings - cheesy wotsits, mr kiplings cakes (homemade ones would not do, needed to have that plasticy feeling), washing powder and comfort fabric softener, meat (odd for a veggies), but strongest of all, cucumber. The last has never gone away and I feel wierd if I dont eat about half a cucumber a day

spotofcheerfulness · 09/04/2010 13:24

Nice title, Beans

LadyThompson · 09/04/2010 13:30

Oh, I love cucumber! Cucumber sandwiches are one of my best things.

Actually NJAN, what annoys me about Liz Jones is that I actually think she has quite a big ego and I find all the low self esteem gubbins really fake. Furthermore she interviewed DH when he was sick and I wasn't present, and I found her piece quite offensive, so I have a personal axe to grind an' all.

Well done Beans!

Beans33 · 09/04/2010 13:39

I don't know who Liz Jones is - rubbish me. Will have a look.

From last post, had just mentioned the blood in DD's nappy. Does anyone have an idea what it might be? I'm not sure if it came out in the poo, although I think it was. Rather than a cut on her bottom. It's not beetroot!!!

Taking her down to my parents tonight for the weekend, so won't be seeing her til Monday evening - aaagh!

Hello! Have been Reading, but struggling with v v itchy and cross ds2 ( he is completely covered in spots) and trying to get some work done. Pretty mindless thank goodness as he didn't sleep much last night - kept waking up, scratching himself and screaming. He ended up in bed with us either crying or kicking most f the night. Sigh. It can only get better!

Lady: GD tends to start in the last trimester. If you're worried ask your consultant to check your blood sugar levels. If there's cause fir concern they'll give you a GTT which is a bit nauseating but fairly straightforward.

Who was asking about eczema and change of seasons? Dh's gets much worse at the start of each summer, he has a couple of weeks of agony before it settles again. He reckons it's sweat irritating the skin.

traceface · 09/04/2010 14:00

just a quickie but Beans I would guess at a bit of straining causing the blood - did you see it on the wipe or in the nappy? If it's in the next nappy I'd probably get her checked just for reassurance.
ZJ love your stats and how you seemlessly slip them in to relevant chats!
And yes zj and jolly and anyone else I'd LOVE another northern meet-up. I have wed off usually but could arrange a Friday if I have a few weeks to plan my days around it. Sounds like Fri fits with you two better.
I had a radical haircut today! Went through the usual Big Change v tidy up, and decided to take the plunge, so my shoulder length straight boring bob has turned onto a short messy crop! Eek! I like it actually but Lu doesn't.
I'm a bit confused - I thought AF had come yesterday (bloody discharge - sorry yet again for the gross post!) so put a pad on over night and a tampoin this morning, but nothing! How odd?! Maybe AF isn't here after all? Or maybe she was popping her head round and will be back properly tomorrow?! Odd.
Right must dash and play with Lucy.
Catch you later lovely ladies.
Oh and I loke Raaaah for the boy shoes

Aubergines · 09/04/2010 14:01

Hi All,

what a gorgeous morning. I have bought DD1 one of those mini scooters and spent the morning in the park trying to teach her to use it. She is about as physically coordinated as her ma, which basically means she is destined to a life of being picked last for every sports team, and therefore she spent the morning scooting into walls, puddles and fences. V cute though.

Beans - my DD1 once had blood in her pop at 4 or 5 months old. I called the GP who told me to bring her straight in. I did but once he felt her tummy was softed and listened to it gurgle he was v reassuring. Later it turned out she was allergic to cows milk protein and that was the cause. I am sure it's nothing like that with Whizz, and if she is happy it won't be anything serious, but maybe try and talk to your on call GP or your HV?

Lady - I didn't see HIGNFY last night but I think I saw the line up. Is Richard H your DD's godfather? If so did you know my friend CD dated him for a short while? Also have you thought of pumping DR for travel writing contacts? He presents for one of the travel channels doesn't he? I think we are coming to Sweden. The nanny has dropped her prices and I have been given some extra work in Paris in June which gives us some extra cash to help justify the expense.

Lowrib - if you come back to lurk again then please post occassionally. It is lovely to hear from you (on antenatal I was another vegtable starting with A).

Kiwi - I think I have just friend requested you on FB. It might not actually be you though as I can never find our FB group in order to check names.

Gah, was going to do loads more catch ups but I have
forgotten everything. Sometimes I think I am going senile.

I do have one question on walking. DD2 cruised at 10 months, stood unaided at 13, took a few unaided steps every day for about two weeks at 14 months and now has regressed and can't take any unaided steps and rarely tries to stand unaided. It is so weird that she is taking so long. Should I be worried that she is actually regressing or do you think it's just that she sees crawling as such an efficient way of moving that she decided walking wasn't worth the hassle?

X

Beans33 · 09/04/2010 14:10

Aubs and Trace - thanks for tips. She has had it before and it came to nothing - I think that time she had fissures round her bum! Nice. But I can't see any this time, so was a bit worried about it - will call Health Visitor. Why do these things always happen when you're going away, or on a Friday??!

I have had a beak at last night's line up on HIGNFY - Richard H - I was the make up artist on a pilot he did a few years ago. Sure he won't remember me. And actually, think he'd probably rather forget the pilot too - although I thought it was rather good! It was set in Weston Super Mare. Quite a few of the actors have gone onto good things now. But sadly, don't think any of them would know who I am - despite me being quite a legend generally.

Never mind! Hee hee!

Aubs - I wouldn't worry. DD is perfectly capable of walking, I have discovered, and sets off on her own now regularly. BUT she is ultimately quite lazy, I think, and seems to prefer crawling as it's not so exhausting! If she's still not walking at around 2, then I'd speak to someone about it, but you've got 8 months to go!

Just bookmarking for later.

Beans, are you wedded to Streatham or would you come further east? There's quite a bit to rent round here and it's tres leafy with nice coffee shops and playgroups.

Right, back shortly.

notjustanumber · 09/04/2010 14:30

Beans she is an unpleasant and bigoted columnist in the Daily Mail, who writes about her personal life. If she is not just making it up, that is...

trace I cut my own hair recently, the MN way. Seems to be almost as good as getting it cut at a hairdresser but without the polite conversation. Tempted to get it all chopped off, like you, though.

Veggiemummy · 09/04/2010 15:02

Hello ladies, well done in thread title Beans I love it.

Lady that all basically sux with the delivery people, I know petrol prices are rising but these people are actually profiting on the delivery as well as on the product.

Effie I read your post a bit quickly and thought you and DH were crying & kicking.

Thanks Spot. I do quite enjoy learning the language we are using the Pimsleur & Michel Thomas systems, DH downloaded the pimsleur and surprising for us we actually bought the Michel Thomas style CDs. We have them on in the livingroom sometimes so we can all hear them. However, I get a bit shy of using whatvive learnt as everyone just speaks back in English. Bur I am starting to get to know some of the shop people so might try using it a bit more. I can in theory ask for stuff in shops etc so I should use it.

Speaking of buying stuff im shops the bits & I were cycling back from the little farm today and I needed to get some bread rolls for their lunch. I didn't want to have to faff around with unstrapping DS2 fro
his seat so I pulled up to the bread shop and sent DS1 in. Oh he was so cute & he did so well. He chose the bread, waited in the little line at the counter and bought the bread rolls. The ladies loved him and gave him some cake. He said 'dank u well' to them and got his change. When he came out to me he was so chuffed with himself. I think I might do that more often with him. I had a parent - teacher meeting with his teacher last night and she said he seems to lack confidence. I worry that I don't do enough to boost his self esteem and when I'm impatient and snappy at him I probably really push his self esteem down. Maybe if we do more independant things like this it would help.

Thanks I now know what Hignfy is. I love that show, in fact all panel shows. Last week I was watching Hignfy and was laughing so loud I woke DS2. It is funny, esp the bit where they have to fill in the headline. There is a show in Australia called 'good news week' which is similar. I also love '8 out of ten cats'.

Spot are you going to the Brighton meet up? Say hi to lowrib.

I love Raaaah, jordi Raaah ed at all the animals at the farm today. They let you take your kitchen scraps to feed the animals. I nearly choked a cow on the bottom bit of a cauliflower.

Beans, we have a 3 bed near Canary Wharf, but that's probably a bit too east. Good for shopping though.

Right J is asleep so I'm off out to play with DS1. Oh & spot, the floor is filthy again already. I need to put Wall-e on to do a spot clean. Jam the manufacturer says they handle dog hair but I've heard otherwise. I think they Hoover it up ok, but it makes it get full quickly. I do love putting it on overnight and getting up next morning to a clean floor. Although that doesn't happen often as I would need to tidy the floor area every night.

Veggiemummy · 09/04/2010 15:09

NJAN, MN way??

Forgot to say Beans fresh red blood in poo
indicates a tear or abasion quite close to the anus either a fissure as you say or as a result of a very big poo. It is not going to be something nasty further up. Might be worth getting it checked though. Does she seem in pain when she poos?

Aubs, has DD2 been upset by anything recently or hurt her legs. Babies & kids can regress for all sorts of reasons most harmless and often the cause is not even known. Generally they return to their normal development at some stage. However, if your concerned take her to the HV for a chat. Oh also talking & walking take up quite a bit of brain power. Had she started using words at all, it maybe that she is developing her language, at these early times they can't really do both so often one is forgone for the other. My boys both walked early but no more than grunts & raaahs otherwise.

EffiePerine · 09/04/2010 15:15

Veggie: that's not far off! love the story about ds1 and the rolls. What a brave boy.

KiwiPanda · 09/04/2010 16:22

I have sat near Liz Jones at fashion shows and it's amazing, it's like there is an invisible barrier around her, literally NO ONE talks to her. It's almost enough to make me feel sorry for her, except that anyone who self-publicises their life to that extent deserves everything they get. I think this interview says it all

SummerLightning · 09/04/2010 16:29

I love the way if you mention someone famous on here several of you seem to have met them at some point!!
Liz Jones sounds mad as a hatter.

SummerLightning · 09/04/2010 16:31

Oh and veggie that is SOOOOO cute about your DS. I think his teacher probably means he just needs to gain confidence in Dutch, not that he's underconfident given his cirumstances (foreign country, etc), I am sure he will get there!!

Veggiemummy · 09/04/2010 16:58

I have no idea who Liz Jones is. Apart from the Emma Thompson incident I'm completely useless with famous people I either go all stupid and unable to speak or in the case of meeting Patrick Viera, I scream. He's not even that goodlooking but he is very tall and has a deep French accent. The team came to our kids ward and we met them all Inc Thierry Henry, I managed to just hold it together getting signatures, I managed to stutter out to Pires that he was DHs fav player. Then as my collegue and I were leaving the ward to go back to the office Big P came out of one of the kids rooms and said a lovely low slow 'Heelloooo' to us I melted my collegue said 'come on veggiemummy we have to get back to work and P looked into my eyes and said 'oh wat ta ssshhhham' (this is my best attempt at a written French accent) ' yoo haff to gor bak to worrk' I smile walk just outside of the ward and screamed like a teenager. Was not very professional for the senior nurse for child health but I was pregnant so that's my excuse.

Better go DS2 is quietly chewing on a beer bottle top next to me.

JamInMyWellies · 09/04/2010 17:53

Marking my spot for later.

LadyThompson · 09/04/2010 18:04

According to the car, the outdoor temp his 20 degrees round our way this afternoon!

That interview is riveting, Kiwi, thanks for the link. She is a Grade A Loop-o.

Thierry Henry is super cute, Veggie. I miss him in the Premiership, there are so many horsefaced hoofers. However, I do find footballers quite sexy. I think it's the shorts. I am really looking forward to the World Cup

Aubi, yes he is. Wow, I didn't know CD dated him! He is a dear friend but I have never felt tempted to cross the line into anything more, though we did once have a brill hol in Tanzania and Zanzibar. He always tells me I am beautiful even if I look fat and troll-like and he was my only visitor in hospital when I had DD. Hooray, you are coming to Sweden after all! I shall have a pal.

Yes, forgot to say hi to Lowrib - come back! I know you lurk on the DIY/property section, where I lurk too!

Beans, I hope your DD is ok - you mentioned before she gets painfully constipated, it sounds related to that. Unless she's been at WG's beetroot...

Your hair sounds really nice, Trace. Hey, post us a pic!

Speaking of which, I won with the bathroom delivery people. I think they were just fed up of me in the end DP was amazed, as I didn't lose my temper in a hugely undignified manner the way I normally do. I am trying to mend my naughty ways. I just kept doggedly threatening them with the Office of Fair Trading

NJAN, I bought a huge cucumber at the supermarket and thought of you

Right, off to pick my nags for the National tomorrow.

LadyThompson · 09/04/2010 18:06

Oh, and Effie, I hope things improve for DS2. Poor little tot. It's horrid when you can't explain to them why they feel rough.

KiwiPanda · 09/04/2010 18:20

Random question - where has Waybaloo gone?? DD loves that programme and now there's just some rubbish animal cartoon in its place.

Beans33 · 09/04/2010 18:35

Chaps - I'm off to Paris for the weekend. Will miss you all and will log on again on Tuesday - I've got a day off for house hunting, so leaving DD with nanny and trying to really nail it.

Got to drive down to Kent now, drop DD, then get the train back up so we can pick up the car on Monday - I'm going to be knackered! But lovely weekend to look forward to.

Have a smashing weekend.

Re the poo - thanks for tips. Her constipation has been better of late, but her biggies are still really hard and quite adult sized, so not ideal. This one didn't seem to hurt, which was why I was surprised by the blood!

Anyway, have a great weekend all of you and will try to catch up on Tuesday!

Big love

xxxx

Have a brill time Beans.

Kiwi. They have limited showings of the different shows on cbeebies. It will be back again soon. Do you have TV on demand. There may also be a random episode or 2 from the last week on iplayer. The only show that seems to keep going is ITNG.
