Been lurking and trying to catch up. Kiwi gosh how frightening - glad you are on the mend and that DD's nursery took her today.

beans your swimsuit story and the tight boyfriend did make me giggle. 7 months - wow how the time has flown.

ladyT hope all well at the scan - can be frightening when they give you a kick like that but they are well insulated. When is the trip to Switzerland? ps; was your question about tiles on the treads of steps (ie the flat bit you stand on) your options are a ready=made bullnose (google it - its a curvy endy bit and not all tile ranges have them) or metal (stainless steel) curved tile trim. Either way you should use something or you get a sharp gap where the both surfaces meet and grout will come out.

Trying to catch up on everyone's news. Well done on the cigs Katie!

Well done Katie, that's brilliant one week. Not sure if it's nice weather over there but maybe you could try to get your friends to go somewhere indoors so the smoking ban will stop you being tempted to smoke. If you are tempted to smoke think of me doing the Kiwi pointy finger and saying 'no'. You must report back and if you have smoked I will be cross.

Sorry had to post a bit early before so didn't say everything I wanted. Uncoiled! I think I meant uncooked does sound dodgy?!

Rubs if it were up to me, we'd be hermits and never even look at our neighbours, but DH is a very friendly soul and practically forces people to talk to him, I think it comes of being a Chinese guy spending a lot of time in Australia. As a result we have known some really lovely neighbours, our London neighbours at Canary Wharf were just wonderful and still keep an eye on our tennants for us. The Derby place has great neighbours too and now here we actually have a street full of kids so DS1 flys up & down with all the kids riding his bike or skateboard. They even gave us a little scooter for DS2 that their kids don't use now.

I'm feeling very housewifey I've washed the windows at the back of the house except the high ones because we don't have a ladder. I've washed the floors in most of the front of the house and done a load of washing. I've even returned the sand that the boys liberated from the sandpit yesterday. Now I'm having a yummy coffee from the new machine. The only problem is it will all be a mess again in a few hours. I have to say when DH is around the house gets so messy. But rather him home than not. He's had to pop in for a meeting today but will be home tomorrow. He's off to Budapest on weds until Sunday morning for the course that had to be reschedualed because of the volcano. We aren't going because it's DH's teachers last day on Thursday before she retires so he wants to say goodbye and Friday is Queens day so we want to be around for that. Gotta get our orange on!

JollyBear · 26/04/2010 13:42

Hello everyone,

I'm afraid I haven't caught up properly as I was away with work for a few days and then we went away for the weekend.

Kiwi How are you feeling now after the accident? Hope you are taking it easy.

katie Well done on the smoking.

beans Your swimsuit story was hilarious! A G-string!

DD isn't biting but we have nipping with razor sharp nails. Not fun.

Must go and tackle the washing mountain... will catch up better later.

Beans33 · 26/04/2010 13:49

Well done katie - that's brilliant - hurray!

Just been for DD's swimming at 12.30. She refused a quick nap this morning, so thought she was going to be hellish. Oh me of little faith - she was gorgeous! Really loved it. But oh my GOD - I'm exhausted! Clearly she's now gone to sleep and think I might have to join her! Just such hard work and the water was really low in the pool, so it was quite hard carrying her with my big tummy! But it was such fun. Not sure whether to carry on with next term, though, as might be too enormous. Would only do half a term as well as due to give birth half way through!!! Wouldn't be too clever if I had a waterbirth there!!!

waitinggirl · 26/04/2010 17:33

oh, beans, you make me laugh!

kiwi - hope you are on the mend, how scary!

katie - yay yay yay!!! keep going, girl. it is so so hard, but each time you say no to one, you are strengthening yourself. keep going!

we have had biting here, especially when she is a foul mood and doesn't knwo waht she is doing. i have been very firm adn said no with the kiwi pointing finger. and a lot of the time the sternness comes out in german (my first language) - weird.

Rubena · 26/04/2010 17:52

Beans you make a good point and just made me think about my term 2 of swimming options! hen does your second term start? Mine starts 2 weeks before my section date and I thought I would just wait until the Autumn term, however he is the 2nd oldest in his class now plus they are a lovely group so I'd really like to continue on and I suppose dh can always take him until I'm up to it after the section I saw your FB and I'm going to copy and see if my swimming is on there I did about the water birth - funny thing was dh said the same thing right before I read your post!! (except he said really straight faced - "but you don't want a water birth, I'd better take him")

Doing well Katie [thumbs up]

Veggie well done on the housewifey stuff - i know what you mean about the mess surrounding the dh's - never ending huh.

Lady if you are lurking hope the scan/appointment went well and are you getting a CS date now?

Ladies I have told a few people (not family) the gender so if everyone promises to put nothing on FB...... here goes.......

Beans33 · 26/04/2010 18:07

RUBES - Don't keep us hanging on!!!!

OP posts:
Beans33 · 26/04/2010 18:08

If you don't tell us soon, I will call you Pubes from now on....

OP posts:
Rubena · 26/04/2010 18:27

Do you promise Beans?

Veggiemummy · 26/04/2010 18:37

rubena don't make me point the kiwi finger at you! You can't just start telling then stop

Veggiemummy · 26/04/2010 18:40

WG that's interesting about the german thing, I often say stuff that sounds just like my mum rather than me, maybe your going back to the way you were spoken too as a kid. Are you going to teach her German? You should start speaking to her in german now.

Veggiemummy · 26/04/2010 18:41

Rubs your evil, Beans call her Pubes!

Rubena · 26/04/2010 18:42

LOL!!!

Rubena · 26/04/2010 18:43

With a 98% accuracy.......

Rubena · 26/04/2010 18:45

Ok.......

GIRL!

spotofcheerfulness · 26/04/2010 19:10

. Yay for pubes! [knew you couldn't keep it from us, can't believe you even tried].
I think all of us got it wrong, non?

Rubena · 26/04/2010 19:21

Thanks Spot! I'm thrilled nah I was getting hounded by a friend and she asked me if I wanted to have all her baby girl clothes (to try and catch me out) it didn't work but it highlighted how stressed out I am trying to be careful what I say!! Then I got thinking how that same friend is having a baby boy and we could swap some of our stuff!

JamInMyWellies · 26/04/2010 19:21

Oh Rubes how lovely I will now though be unable to call you anything other than Pubes

Rubena · 26/04/2010 19:26

still trying to keep it from the fam but we'll see

Rubena · 26/04/2010 19:27

LOL thats ok Jam

spotofcheerfulness · 26/04/2010 19:36

That's really nice about the clothes swapping with your friend.
How did you feel when you were told the sex? Did you think you were going to have another boy?

Pubes · 26/04/2010 19:40

I was convinced it was another boy!! Not sure why - everyone else thought so too and my symptoms have been exactly the same.

Where the heck have Veggie and beans scampered off to? Wanted to know.... and now gone ah I guess it's bed / dinner time

spotofcheerfulness · 26/04/2010 19:45

They are wringing their hands in despair and getting to the bottom of a bottle of gin due to having got the sex wrong.

Or putting the kids to bed, I spose.

Oh, Poison, if you're lurking, thanks for thinking of me for your Sussex jaunt this weekend but I'll be going to Ely to see my mum. But have a fab time at the Griffin. am tres .

Don't suppose any of you Cambridge bods are around for a quick cuppa or so on Sat arvo? Would be early afternoon, prob 2.30 ish or so, en route down the A10.

SummerLightning · 26/04/2010 19:45

Hurrah pubes, how exciting, a GIRL!

Oh....i think I want a girl now.
