Gauchita - when's the test hon? best of luck. Poor you with the mastitis, why do you think you have it, is M cutting back? My Mum keeps saying that A is saying "bitty" I find it very unhelpful Angry Smile

Bigcar - busy, busy household for you [smile

Been a very unsettling few days, DH had stomach pains and had to go to A&E yesterday for hours (they said it was gas Blush) he had his knee op today and has just got home. Poor kids have been really missing him after weeks of him being around 24/7 they have hardly seen him in the last 48 hours and DS is crying for him Sad

bigcar · 31/08/2010 09:57

morning all Smile

gauchita, dd1 will be about an hour and a half away, so not too far. Sending you the very best of luck for tomorrow and very calming thoughts Smile

allsheep, I guess we both have the opposite view to the start of term then Grin

june, good to hear all's going well Smile It is a bit Sad that I'm no longer needed so much but it's also Smile to see a lovely grown up young lady that can take care of herself and think, I had something to do with that!

MrsMcJnr, your poor dh with his stomach, do you think it was also nerves about the op? Hope the op went well, will he be off his feet for a while now? Hope ds is ok now Sad

bit manic at the moment trying to get organised, E decided to be up half of saturday night, wide awake and ready to play Hmm not sure what that was all about. I thought he might be coming down with something but he's been fine.

waves to all Smile

Gauchita · 31/08/2010 15:48

Afternoon all!

Bigcar, that's a nice distance, not too far but still gives her a sense of "being far away from home" Smile I may sound cheesy now but I love the way you've expressed yourself with regards to her in these last few days. It is healthy indeed to see them grow, give them all the tools they need but also give them the possibility to make their own decisions without any guilt trips, etc. She's very lucky to have a mum like you Smile Sorry, cheesy moment over, I promise Smile

Mrsmc, I saw your FB updates yesterday, hope DH is doing well. Will he have to have physical rehabilitation or something of the sort?

Right, I had my last lesson today. I did well and passed my mock test so hopefully this will last until tomorrow Grin Oh, "terminator" is back, by the way and she failed one of my instructor's pupils yesterday, argh!

I'm taking my rescue remedy, though, and I think it might be working as I haven't had any crying fits anymore Grin that has to be a good sign, right? If it's all a placebo thing, I don't care, as long as I'm a bit calmer Grin

Hope everyone's well.

MrsMcJnr · 31/08/2010 21:40

Best of luck Gauchita Smile

DH is bored and fed up of being in plaster already. I do feel for him, he must be boiling. Next drs appoint is 9/9 so he has a while of just being a patient! Hmm

Gauchita · 01/09/2010 16:35

I paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassed!!! Oh, I'm so pleased! I'll be back later for a catch-up, just wanted to share the news with you Smile

bigcar · 01/09/2010 17:05

wooooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

congratulations Smile Smile Smile

MrsMcJnr · 01/09/2010 18:40

Grin great news! well done! Grin

Ladies I really want to stop BFing now but just don't know how without really upsetting my little lady, any tips or ideas? anyone else feel the same way? I want to think about a 3rd and need my body back to replenish it too, my hair and nails are a disaster and I want to sleep!

Hi all!

Strawberry, glad to hear L is getting better now and the thrush is clearing Smile

Mrsmc, another BFer here. M doesn't seem to want to stop yet either.

Bigcar, hi Smile

Thanks all for the sweet comments and congratulations Smile

Life sometimes is just a matter of luck, ladies. The "terminator" went into the waiting room where we were and called the other lady's name (at this point my instructor told me she was the terminator Grin) and a gentleman appeared right behind her and called my name.

Phew!!!

He was assertive but very nice and from the moment he asked me the "show me tell me" questions he made me feel so calm! Once the driving started I suddenly wasn't nervous anymore, except for my right foot, which was shaking Grin

I had 4 minor mistakes and I had to drive through 5 roundabouts, 5!!! Luckily those went well but when I was asked to do a 3-point turn, I put reverse instead of 1st (my instructor's car is one of those that have it next to 1st). Argh! I said "oops" Grin and as I only moved 1mm and realised and corrected it he didn't count it as a major one. PHEW! I also had to reverse a corner but no mistakes there Grin

The rest of the test was quite smooth, there was a lot of traffic at times but it was OK.

I feel an enormous weight has lifted off my shoulders, and the best of all is: I get to drive to our meet-up!!! Grin Which, by the way, is right around the corner Smile

Off to bed now, hope everyone's well.

bigcar · 02/09/2010 14:33

afternoon all Smile

MrsMcJnr, hope dh is doing ok Smile Re bf, I've always cut down gradually and introduced formula or milk as a replacement. We've not had the same sleep issues as you so may not be relevant but I cut out all feeds other than first morning feed and last night feed, mainly because E was always taking himself off to be nosey and wasn't that interested. Eventually cut those 2 feeds a day out again as he gradually lost interest. Hope you can get something sorted.

strawberry, tell me about it, I was really nervous too! She has a lot more confidence than I ever had and of course the internet has been invented since I went to uni [old gimmer] and she has found some of the people in her halls to chat to already. She's quite excited, she's got her first placement the week before she goes with something to write up to take with her so pressure's on already, teaching is one of the full on, full time courses. How's L this morning? Hope she's 100% again now Smile

gauchita, I'm so pleased for you Smile had to keep checking for updates! So good you avoided the terminator, must have been a weight off just for seeing a man call your name Grin

ds2 and dd3 went back to school today. Dd3 was only in for the morning, starts full days in about 3 weeks. She fell asleep in the book corner, was sick at milk time and tripped over a table leg and has a big bump on her head! So, overall, wasn't the most successful day, tomorrow will be better, it can't get much worse Hmm Grin

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 03/09/2010 08:13

Hello all!

Haven't been on for a while. Hope everyone is okay. Very excited about our meet up.

Gauchita - HUGE congratulations!!

MrsMc - I cut down by a feed at a time and then was just feeding in the morning, snuggled up in bed. One morning, when I decided that it was going to stop, I took her straight downstairs so that it was a different routine and gave her her milk in a cup. She didn't seem to miss it too much. I was a it tender for a couple of days, but then okay. I did 14 months, WAY longer than I thought I'd ever do and it felt like it was the right time to do it. I do miss it though, but she doesn't seem to and that's the important thing. Hope you find it as plain sailing.

DS starts pre-school on Monday, every afternoon. It'll be a real wrench as I've always had him with me (apart from one year he was in nursery while I worked, but he doesn't remember). He seems excited, but I'm sure there will be tears, from both of us!

DH back at work after his Summer break. I do miss him, but glad to get back into a routine, and keep the house tidy. I love him to bits, but it is like tidying up after three toddlers..... exhausting! He is unbelievably messy and it's really tiring! I have chatted to him about it many times and he gets better for about 3 weeks and then it starts again. I suppose he's pretty perfect in every other way so he has to have some flaw.....

DD is still at the stage where she CAN walk, she just WON'T walk.... it's frustrating. She can cross the room, but just prefers to crawl as it's so much quicker....

Anyway, how are we sorting the logistics for the meet up?

bigcar · 03/09/2010 11:26

ineed is ds excited about going to preschool? Dd2 starts high school monday too and dd3 started yesterday (pic on profile) So far I've managed to hold it together when taking them all for their first days but getting home without them makes the place feel empty and I never quite know what to do with myself! Knowing they are off having fun and making new friends always helps.

Not sure about logistics for the meetup given I haven't much of a clue what most juners look like Grin especailly not being a fber myself. There's a very bad pic of me on my profile and I was thinking I might put my mobile number next to one of my photos so it's not visible to all and sundry in case that's of use to anyone. I'm sure one of the other juners will have a much better idea than me. May be we could do the whole James Bond/Spooks thing and carry a rolled up newspaper under our right arms with a yellow flower in our left lapel, rolled up trouser legs and dodgy hankshakes and the cow moos at dawn type thing what do you think Grin

Strawberrysam ? I started Freshers? Week with my cousin, having someone to do it all with was great Smile We?ve not tackled the toddler group toys yet as it doesn?t reconvene until the end of the month but all of our toys have been to aquapark!! Smile DH getting a bit better but still a grump Hmm Glad to hear L is getting better.

Gauchita ? love your high Grin congrats again!

Bigcar ? thanks for sharing BF tips. Like you, I have been trying to get down to just the morning and bedtime feed. The rest of the time I don?t offer and try to distract her but if she is really persisted I give in. To be honest most days she can go all day without a BF. It?s the night that is the real problem. My gut feeling is that if I can get her to go through the night, it?ll be easier to drop the other feeds as and when. They don?t bother me; it is the constant night feeding that is wearing me down. She doesn?t like cows? milk but will have some in cereal and eats yoghurts, cheese and ice-cream. Exciting for your DD1, remember those early days at Uni well Grin Poor DD3 hope school gets better for her! Love her photo in her school gear Smile Must be odd having an empty-ish nest during the day but tea time must be fun Grin

Ineedmore ? thanks for sharing Smile Bet you are feeling apprehensive about Monday for DS, bet he is excited though! Smile

My two have started to fight Shock usually X takes a toy from A and she grabs his hair and won?t let go, he screams and cries, gets free and then pulls her hair and she starts screaming Sad he was never a hair puller until now.

Wish I could come and meet you all too! Sad Envy

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 04/09/2010 09:57

Right. How about you email me your mobile number BigCar and then I can send a message to all the Juners on Facebook with mobile numbers so that we can all contact eachother on the day? We could all meet at the entrance of Coram Fields at 11am?

Email address is compingqueen at hotmail dot com

Gauchita · 04/09/2010 11:24

Morning all!

Ineed, good idea! Smile I hope we can make it at 11, we'll set off from home as early as possible but we have 3.30 to 4hs journey. Depending on traffic we might be there on time Grin

Mrsmc, oh how I remember fights Grin My sister and I fought all the way through childhood and teenage years up until when I turned 17 Shock We adore each other now Grin Hope DH is a good patient this weekend Smile

Bigcar, aw, DD3 looks lovely in her uniform, so grown up! Smile Hope yesterday was a better day for her at school. I bet the house feels strange now during the day, but enjoy the peace and calm, evenings must be hectic!

Oh, believe me when I saw the gentleman call my name I breathed a sigh of relief! Grin

I think June and Snow are due to be back from holidays this week and Skies from her honeymoon as well. The meet-up is a week from today! Yay!

I drove on the motorway yesterday for the first time, it was a bit scary but I guess it's just one more thing you get used to with time Grin

I also drove all on my own (well, with M Grin) for the first time as well. It was strange but it felt great.

I've been taking ABs for mastitis for the past week, it's getting better now but still there Hmm

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Waves!

Oh, forgot to say,

Ineed, I bet it'll be a mixed-feeling moment on Monday when DS goes off to school, but he'll be great Smile Don't forget the tissues and the camera Smile

MN really annoys me sometimes, what happened to "if you can't say something nice...." Angry

Should have known better really Blush

AllSheepareWhite · 04/09/2010 14:17

Hi everyone,

Sorry to have been out of touch for a while, first week back at work and N understandably very clingy, waking more at night again (sigh) and sobbing for ages at bedtime. I have been feeling quite guilty and sad about leaving her, maybe she is picking up on my feelings. Hopefully she will get used to me being gone again by next week.

Gauchita - :o Congratulations - well done for keeping your cool and passing your test. You are brave driving on the motorway, I would have to have extra lessons before I attempted it, far too scary Blush

Bigcar - Lovely pics :) I am sure DD3 will be fine once she finds her way around, when I have been into nursery/reception they are always playing and having a great time. The older kids are always trying to find excuses to go down there and play dressing up (even the boys!).

Mrsmc - Me and my brother fought like this (I am older, but he did the hair pulling), but they have to learn to deal with it as people do not always get on in the big wide world and you cannot always be there when it happens as they get older. Hope DH will be less of a grump soon and that A starts to settle at nights.

Ineed - Hi :) hope you are all well. Looking forward to next Saturday to, I will wear lots of red and our buggy is red so it will be obvious that I am a Juner :o Hope DS gets on ok next week, once he gets used to it he will have a whale of a time.

June2009 · 05/09/2010 18:49

heya!
Last day in the sun, I only had two minutes to read up, congrats gauchita, it looks like you passed your test!! :D
looking forward to next saturday too!

hope all is well in juners land!

Gauchita · 05/09/2010 21:43

Hi all!

June, hope you've had some great days there Smile Yes, I passed! Smile

Allsheep, aw bless N. It might just be part of the "adaptation process" and soon she'll be more than fine. How's DH finding being a SAHD? Hope the first week was good for you all Smile

Mrsmc, hope DH is feeling better. I know what you mean about certain threads. I found myself posting in one about weddings and ILs and I should have known better, not because anyone said anything to me but because of certain comments Sad

Ineed, good luck tomorrow! Hope DS has a great first day Smile

Tomorrow I'll be able to take M to nursery on my own Smile Yay!

We're almost ready for the meet-up now. Hotel is booked, DH has taken the days off (he works on Saturdays) so we're ready! Poor DH will have some hectic days, he'll have to drive to London this week (for work), come back on the same day, then we go on Saturday, and then he has to be back in London on Tuesday! Confused

Mila's cough is clearing slowwwwwwwwwwly Hmm Hopefully she'll be able to have her MMR jab next week, after re-scheduling it for 7 weeks! Shock

snowwombat · 06/09/2010 09:30

hello hello! Am back at home after a lovely break in France and then a few days in East Anglia. Lots of catch up on! So looking forward to saturday, 11am fine with us, ineed can I email you my mob and get yours as I don;t do facebook either. The plan is we meet at the entrance gates? Inside or outside? We have a red P+Ts, and I am at the lovely cusp of is she really fat or is she pregnant.

Your DS is prob at school now, how are you feeling?
gauchita YYYAAAAAAAAAHHHH!Well done on passing your test! How was the nursery run this morning? Hope your mastistis clearing up quickly. Ouch
June did you get great weather in France? We had rain mostly but a few warm days and swimming at Brittany beaches.
Allsheep Hope work/N are better this week. How are you feeling about being back?

Bigcar great photo of DD3. Love your flower/rolled up newspaper idea for the meet up!
MrsMC afraid I have no advice for you about getting sleep and sorting the BF. A weaned himself so I didn't get much choice. He is still a horrid sleeper at times, although, touch wood, slept till 5.15 this morning.
Vene any progress on business plans? A isn't walking much, tottering a lot the last few days, but much prefers to crawl
lynnn hope the injection helps DH

Waves to everyone and looking forward to meeting you on Saturday!
Work is crazy busy, so off to get some done. Have 5 days away next week, A will be going to the GPs, luckily they love haing him and he adores them and their dogs.

bigcar · 06/09/2010 10:26

morning all Smile

MrsMcJnr, hope the feeding's going ok. Fraid my lot fight a fair bit, dd2 with ds1 and dd3 with E but they are also the best of friends at times too. I can also say that while they might fight with each other this doesn't carry across to fighting with other children, they just like to batter each other Hmm Sorry but your thread made me {grin] I don't think anyone was trying to be nasty, just bored, may be they should have gone and sorted their buttons instead Smile

ineed, thanks for that, have emailed you Smile Hope ds got away ok this morning and has a good time at nursery.

gauchita, can you hear that? . . . . . . no I know, silence is golden Smile Dcs at school and E is having a nap so peace and quiet reigns, for now anyway. Dd3 thankfully had a much better day friday and has gone off quite happily this morning so hopefully she'll be fine for a while. Hope you and M are on the mend.

allsheep, hope N is a bit happier after the weekend, lovely she gets to stay home with daddy, I'm sure pretty soon she'll be like my 2 lo's,they hang over the gate when dh gets in from work and stand there shouting waiting to be picked up for a cuddle, is lovely to see Smile Dd3 has SNs so I'm not as calm with her going off as the other dcs, she's in mainstream for now and I'm not fully convinced it's the best place for her, nursery year resulted in quite a few accidents/incidents that I wasn't happy with, but this is a new year so we shall see Smile

june, hope you're having a good time Smile

snow, hols sound lovely, we haven't managed to get away this year so it's always good to hear about others trips Smile Hope A has a good time with the gps.

meetup, I think if we meet inside the gate to Coram as it's not really got anywhere to wait outside but opens up nicely through the gate. If we say 11 if we can but hopefully we'll all have at least one mobile number for a juner so if we're a little later it should be easy to find each other. Will put a pic of E in his buggy on my profile some time today to hopefully make us a little recogniseable! Is everyone taking a picnic? Wasn't sure what the plan was re food, know they have a veggie cafe. Looking forward to meeting everyone Smile

waves to all Smile

Gauchita · 06/09/2010 11:15

Hi all!

Bigcar, I was wondering the same yesterday (and then I forgot to post about it Grin) A picnic had been mentioned at some point, are we still having one? Let's see what everyone says. Glad to hear DD3 had a better day on Friday Smile I think I've posted pics of us before so hopefully we'll be recognisable Grin I should be easy, I'm the Latino looking Grin

DH has discovered Mr Tumble (for M, that is Grin) He LOVES his show and, bless him, he does all the signs for Mila alongside Justin and Mr Tumble.

Waves to all!

Gauchita · 06/09/2010 11:27

Don't know why half my post disappeared, gah..

Snow, welcome back! Busy bee, lots of work for you these days. Mastitis seems to have cleared, fortunately.
