Tee2072 · 21/05/2010 06:22

Morning!

Ugh. A is sleeping great. Tee on the other hand...

June I think your DH needs to say that to MIL. Stand up to her a bit.

strawberrysam nope, not me. We're staying home. My mom and step dad are coming for A's first birthday.

And I'll be back, cuz I hear stirring from the nursery...

bigcar · 22/05/2010 08:51

morning all

it's been a busy week! I've been reading but just haven't had time to post, rl getting in the way again

we had ds1s birthday on wednesday, he had a great time, would have been slightly better if pil had bothered to even send him a card, he was a little upset about that, no phone call either He took his dvd of his scout band tattoo into school for the class to watch and that seemed to go down well, he was quite chuffed.

dh now has his arm in plaster, not a happy bunny at all. He's also been signed off sick for 4 weeks until he goes back to the hospital, he thought he'd be back at work once it was in plaster. He's going to get bored very quickly, never mind he's already driving me nuts

less than a week to Es birthday now, I know I keep saying it, but where has the last year gone? Bf has almost come to an end, he's just not interested any more.

strawberry, I will join you in being of everyones holidays Normally we do the sun £9.50 holidays but with dd2 in year 6 we can't take her out of school and to go away in the holidays with us lot is just not affordable. We will get some nice days out at some stage, haven't figured out where yet though

must dash E is emptying a packet of baby wipes waves to all

June2009 · 22/05/2010 14:02

tee tell me about it...I think I might have to say something, it's driving me nuts.

bigcar Heya!, I was wondering what you were up to Sorry to hear about your dh's arm :S what a nightmare. Does he get physiotherapy to help?
Emptying the wipes is also one of C's favorite passtimes.(and sometimes I just let her so she keeps still and I can dress her)

gauchita where did you find that trampoline?

I've started planning C's birthday, ordered the cake already. Few friends and family coming up to 30ppl for bbq. Just been going round the garden noticing how child unfriendly it is...

Have a lovely wekeend speak to you all soon!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 22/05/2010 20:25

Very quiet on here today. Hope you've all been outside enjoying the sunshine.....

Gauchita · 22/05/2010 20:57

Hi all!

Ineed, what a gorgeous day, wasn't it? Over here there was not even a hint of a cloud

June, I think it was strawberry who bought the trampoline, but I've seen them in ELC and Mothercare Is your MIL oblivious to the whole thing or does she "act" as if she were? Any of the two are a pain anyway How's C doing with the ladybug? Are they friends yet?

Bigcar, oh poor your DH, what a PITA that must be (and for you, my Lord! ) Glad DS had a great birthday but sorry to hear about FIL, hope he wasn't too upset, poor thing. Ugh, what's with the wipes and these LOs obsession with taking them out one by one? Although I hear you, June, I end up giving her LOTS of prohibited items so that she stays still while I change her

Tee, hope you're having better nights Great name for your company! Hope more clients come along soon!

Strawberry, no plans here for the summer. I might be going to France with M to visit some friends in August but I don't know yet. In any case, if we have this sort of weather I won't complain to stay home I'm loving it!

Hi to all Juners!

I'm in serious need of some lbs and nutritious food I was left so weak after the stomach bug I caught a cold and have temperature. I'm like a bear with a sore head I bought some good food today, so hopefully I'll get better and healthier soon

We bought M's present today, will open it tomorrow We bought something else so she'll have a pressie for that day as well Bigcar, I used my 20% off voucher and made some great savings

I wanted to order a great cake I saw online from a local cake shop but they quoted £65 for an 8" sponge. Now, I have no idea about cake prices but that's a bit too much for me Will look for other options

Waves!!!

Tee2072 · 23/05/2010 18:12

Happy Lovely Sunday all!

What a gorgeous day here. And now its beginning to cool off, just in time for sleeping!!!

gauchita this is why I am making A's cake. £40 for a cake (or £65 in your case!) is ridiculous!!

bigcar sorry to hear about DH's arm. I hope it heals quickly.

The Mystery Of The Unsleeping Baby has been solved, BTW. 2 new teeth have broken through the top! That makes 8 total, 6 top, 2 bottom. Must be hard to chew...

bigcar · 23/05/2010 19:10

evening all

cut the grass this afternoon, why on earth did I do it, it's almost finished me off first cut of the year got left a bit too long!

june, no physio, well not while it's in plaster, unless you count, keep wiggling your fingers as physio Tramploines here suitable from 12 months. Hope th ils are behaving this weekend

ineed, yes we were at one of dd3s friends birthday party yesterday, twas lovely, wonderful outside play area and a proper outside swimming pool, was fab. Hence the guilt for getting our garden sorted

gauchita, poor you, hope for a quick recovery for you. And if you want I have plenty of spare pounds you can have Wow, expensive cake! We normally get the character supermarket ones for about £8, slight difference

tee, I wish I could bake, I've never managed a really decent sponge, mine always turn out a bit dry. Aha, hopefully more sleep for you all now and that cake won't last long now either

thanks for all the kind thoughts for dhs arm, much appreciated He's finding it very itchy at the moment with the heat so I've been hiding anything he may stick down the plaster!

waves to all

Loving all the present ideas. The trolley we are getting A will be great- he walked with one when at his GP on the weekend.

The return to work went v well. But, my goodness, I was shattered, despite not having to get up to A in the night.

gauchita you are v welcome to my excess 2 stone! How about some milkshakes or smoothies to get some extra calories in? Ice cream?
Waitrose does some lovely children's cakes you can pre-order.
bigcar Good idea to not let DH put anything down his cast.Have seen some v v nasty wounds after kids and adults have stuck stuff down their casts. Scratch the other arm!It helps a little. What a shame you can't get a waterproof cast. In oz, everyone got offered a waterproof cast at minimal cost.
tee go A with those teeth!Think more on the way here too. What sort of cake are you going to make?
june our backyard is tiny and not particularly child friendly either. Not sure if we need to re think the BBQ idea.
ineed and venetian v impressed with your exercising. I used to love to run but I still can't jump without pelvic floor failure . venetian how are all those thoughts about a new business venture? How was the rest of your trip?
strawberry sorry that you don't have the flexibility to work from home. Book selling sounds fun.
mrsmc how is your dad doing? How are you doing?
bunny have you been to Westfield? Was thinking of making a trip down to have a look see!
I saw ermintrude posted on a thread yesterday, would be lovely to hear from her.

Waves to everyone. Hope you are enjoying the weather. Off to visit a friend this morning. Slack and skipped the gym as just too hot here.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 24/05/2010 10:47

Hello all! Loving the sunshine. Got a wedding to go to that DH and I are doing the photos for so hoping there is some lovely weather for Sunday. Apparently it's going to cool down a bit over the next few days....

We had my brother and his girlfriend over yesterday for a BBQ and it was lovely. We haven't seen them for about 3 months, which is AGES as they only live 30 mins away now. He's like my best friend so it was good to catch up. He gave E her first birthday present as he's away on his hols when it's her birthday. She got her first two dolls, the ones from ELC. She loves them and keeps cuddling them and saying 'aaaah'... so cute!

Gauchita - hope you start to feel more yourself soon.

Tee - glad the mystery of A's sleeplessness has been solved! 8 teeth is impressive, E has 6 and I thought that was good going - though this morning I can see the ghosts of the next two bottom ones on their way....

I'm going to buy a lovely spotty red cake stand for E's birthday cake. I'll bake a small one for the top and then lots of little cupcakes round the bottom two layers. Think I'll go for sponge with cream and strawberry filling for her.

Anyway, the garden is calling.... or DS actually who wants me to play football with him where's DH when I want him....

venetianred · 24/05/2010 11:47

Hi all,

My trip home was one half - fabulous beach holiday, and one half - distressing time with parents and brother. My father has Alzeimhers and is particularly aggressive at the moment. He is consumed with hatred for many things and I just cannot describe the intensity with which he acts. It is hard to watch. He used to a be a loving man - who was a lay preacher. Apparently last year he accused the local minister of being a sinner (during a service!!!!). I hadn't realised how bad he had got.
Meanwhile, my brother, who has drunk increasingly more over the years, is almost certainly now an alcoholic and clearly has more unacknowledged issues than I've had roast dinners. He is beyond help. He has a ridiculous IQ and is convinced of his 'greatness' and never listens to anyone because he knows best. What was nice, was how much they all adored C & F - children are a great leveller at times.
I was feeling a bit psychologically disturbed when I returned - still am a bit. It was an odd time. I feel like I am suffering post trauma symptoms with struggling to breathe at times and the nervousness - hence why the exercise is good for me at the moment.
gauchita - do you think your trip took it's toll on you too? Btw - what is your facebook name/site?

F has 8 teeth and clearly the next round (it's like boxing isn't it - back into the ring for the next round of teething) is on it's way.

We celebrated C's 4th birthday on Saturday, I hired a local church hall, got a clown in and bought a cake. It was pricey, but as we were just back from NZ and I wasn't feeling capable I just decided to throw money at it this year. The cake was beautiful - a Little Mermaid cake with lovely pictures of Ariel. it was expensive but it was also stunning and she said she was the happiest girl in the world and one of her friends said it was the best party she had ever been to.

Just quickly snow - congrats. What is your due date?
bigar - poor dh
strawsam - nice to dip your feet in the water of making money from home. My cousin does telesales for a health and beauty club - which she likes as she only ever speaks to ladies about stuff they really like.
tee - great start hon. Onwards and upwards.
june - making sure no nasty plants in garden is the most important thing really. Followed by sharp edges they can gash their head on - imo.

Gotta go - little F has woken.

Gauchita · 24/05/2010 14:12

Hi all!

Venetian, aww 4 already! Glad she had a great time and that everything went more than well The trip must have been emotionally draining for you (((hug))) Glad to hear that C and F had a great time. You could be right and my trip and everything that came with it could have had to do with my health, or the lack thereof! My appetite was almost null over there so I didn't eat well... it all came downhill from there.

Snow, glad to hear the trip went well I remember how knackered I felt during early pgcy so I can only imagine how hard it must be to feel that AND have to go to work! Very at your paddling pool Ohhhh, smoothies, that's a good idea, thanks! Ice cream sounds good too I need about 5kg to look normal again, which is what I lost

Ineed, sounds like you had a great time with your brother and his GF, the day was gorgeous! at DS wanting you to play football with him. E's cake sounds great!! I love fairy cakes, yum!

Bigcar, ohhh that must itch with all this heat, poor him. I've also heard of nasty lesions because of sticking things up casts so well done on hiding everything pointy

Tee, well done A! Hope he gets some better nights, and so do you M still has only 2 at the bottom so I guess we still have a long way to go

Hi to all Juners!

Right, I'm making M's cake myself (bought some cake mix) and will buy a winnie the pooh and friends icing topper to go on top DH gave me a funny look when I gave him the cake quote so we decided to go down this lane

I spent the whole day yesterday with 38.6 fever and a massive headache. Definitely not a cold but a full on flu I'm slightly better today but still with a stuffed nose and this headache that won't go away! Paracetamol can only do so much and they told me I can't take ibuprofen because I'm BFing

To make matters worse, it looks like M's getting it now so it's going to be a looooong week.

On a good note, she loved her tricycle

Gauchita · 24/05/2010 18:15

Oops, Venetian, I forgot!

On Facebook I'm under my full name, although I don't know whether I appear or not after all the security options I chose It's Natalia Marmol Maunier (without the smiles ) If you can't find me let me know and I'll look for you.

Still not sleeping though she is in her own room (and me with her most nights) X didn't get a place at the nursery - gutted! sorry it's all me, me, me - hope to catch up tomorrow.

June2009 · 25/05/2010 00:04

Hello! our internet has been broken and only came back on tonight.

bigcar how is it going with dh at home? thanks for that link ;) Don't get me started on my mil :D

Her latest thing is that she really wants to take us to this "farm". Great I thought we could do this on a sunday, go and see some animals, have lunch, nice.
Only she just turns up in the middle of the day at random and goes "shall we go now?".
I don't know about you guys but it is hard to do anything spontaneous with the baby, it takes at least 20 minutes to leave home for a start, then she might be hungry, need changing or sleep etc, that kind of outing has to be organised.
Anyway she left me the "farm" card and I went to their website to check it out. It turns out it's not a farm at all, just a coffee place in the middle of nowhere that sells overprice organic stuff they imported from somewhere else.
What's more dh and I have actually been there before and swore never to go back.
It said "fresh coffee" at the front on a blackboard, which is why we went there in the first place and they served us instant cappucino (you know the one you add water to a sachet)!!! and charged us £4.95 for a slice of reformed ham and over processed cheese in two slices of the cheapest nasty supermarket sliced white bread you can find.
We were expecting "own product bladibla", it was shocking!
I don't know why she thinks this would be suitable or interesting for the baby.

We invited her for lunch on saturday and while the baby is eating in her high chair she's trying to make her laugh, sing to her, clap her hands, play with a ball, repeat words after her, everything except eating even though I was telling her "ok, but she's really got to eat now" "we'll do that later ok" etc. Its like she's not hearing anything, people were having conversations and she kept interrupting to say stuff that had nothing to do with what we were talking about.
and she smoked in front of the baby.

Sorry for venting again, I feel like I need a therapist or something!

gauchita can you put cream in your meals, max the carbs like pasta, bread, potato etc.
our christening (for 40 people) cake was £65, this bday cake (for 55 people) is £40 from M&S.
Sorry you've got the flu , I think this trip has taken a lot out of you. Take care of yourself. It's great that you are still breastfeeding, none of my RL friends are doing it anymore.

mrsmc heya, well done A on walking :D:D and X on potty training!
C is walking with the little push along walker, she took her first steps on her own (with the walker) today. Still no crawling, I think it might not be a myth that some of them just skip it!

venetian sorry you have to go through this with your dad and brother, it is hard, especially when you're far away. I don't know very much about Alzheimers, maybe you can find a support website or thread?

Has anyone else watched "lost" and need someone to explain it to them?

it's late and my eyes are closing.
hopefully our internet connection will still be working in the morning...

Tee2072 · 25/05/2010 17:38

Evening ladies.

Well...A has chicken pox (most likely) and a severe ear infection.

Who wants to entertain me for the next week while I stay at home with a sick, contagious baby?

june Is MIL insane?!?!?

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 25/05/2010 19:21

Tee - That's PANTS! Poor little thing

June - I agree, your MIL sounds bonkers.
Been at the

MrsMc - Sorry DS didn't get a place at nursery

Been at the Lido all day with MIL and the kids. It was so lovely and the kids had a whale of a time. Come home to the chaos though, as I left in a bit of a hurry this morning .... off to tidy up now.

Love to all xx

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 25/05/2010 19:22

Sorry - bit of a cut and paste balls up there, part-way through my post there. Too much sun, obviously....

Gauchita · 25/05/2010 20:21

Hi all!

Ineed, sounds like you had a lovely day, no sunshine here today. I LOVE Glee, am addicted at the moment

Tee, oh poor A! I'm at home most of the day these days as I myself am recovering so I can keep you company if want

June, your MIL sounds as bonkers as mine, many things are just like hers I read the thread about MILs and saw what you said, it's great that your DH could see what it is like to deal with a baby that is overtired, overexcited, etc due to breaking her routine... and I'm glad he's putting his foot down more these days. Mine has been "learning" these past 3 years and still has a hard time getting it sometimes. Oh that "farm" sounds delightful Hope you don't have to go and endure the awful, overpriced and bad coffee. Glad your internet is back

Mrsmc, I'm so sorry to hear about X's nursery place Is there any other around that's good? I read what you said on FB about the private ones. Are there any other public/state ones around?

Hi to all Juners!

I'm a bit better today my nose is still a mess but at least there's no more fever and the headache has ceased since this afternoon

Thanks for all the tips re. food I'm eating frequently and adding a fatty twist to every meal

Hope you have a nice evening!

Waves!!!

snowwombat · 27/05/2010 08:01

Bit quiet on here, hope everyone out enjoying some sunshine/mild weather. Tis a bit grey here but not cold. Off for a 3hr walk with a friend and her baby.
gauchita glad you on the mend
tee wish we were a little closer as I would be v happy for A to get exposed to chicken pox.How is A doing?
ineed a day at the lido sounds lovely. I need to find an oudoor pool.
venetian so sorry you still struggling a bit.Sounds like an incredibly stressful situation with your brother and Dad. Go the exercise! Hope there are some services locally that your dad can access for support.
Am due 28th Dec. First scan says 2nd Jan but i guess somewher inbetween.
mrsmc what a bugger about nursery. Are there any other options?Well done A with her walking. A walked on the weekend using a trolley at his GP. Hoping his arrives v soon as he is so keen to be on his feet.
june your MIL is a nutter. No change there!
bigcar anything planned for half term?

Right, must get organised to get out the door. Waves to everyone

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 27/05/2010 08:57

Hello all! Pants weather here. Had planned a picnic out but have had to hastily change my plans!

snow - 3 hours! That's impressive!

Anyway, speedy post as I'm running late and we're all still in our pyjamas.....

Have a happy day!

venetianred · 27/05/2010 10:32

Yes, I was chasing all the support services when I was home, and trying to organise a housecleaner that was more of a carer. It's just that it plays with your head. It's a cruel disease. It's a cruel disease and different for everybody. Dad fiercely opposes everything, hates being looked upon as 'weaker', is incredibly suspicious, miscontrues many things etc etc. As for bro, it is sad, and he is hiding his head, but although he flies of the handle at the smallest thing, he is no threat to anyone - I just couldn't leave my children with him, and went very gently as wanted him on board with decisions made about Mum & Dad.

snowwombat - that's close to my birthday Jan 5. My poor mum was hospitalised on Christmas Eve due to high blood pressure, she then came out but had to go back in on New Years Eve - she still holds it against me : ) that I managed to ruin both festive occasions that year! Sounds like you'll be having a little Capricorn.

mrsmcjnr - how does the nursery system work out there. similar to here?

gaucita - hello.

june - yes, sounds like you need to write down the 'rules' and give her a copy, in the nicest possible way!

better go continue the ironing.

Gauchita · 27/05/2010 17:13

Hi all!

Venetian, it's a very cruel disease. Hope you managed to get some support/carer/housecleaner for your dad. How's the exercise going?

Snow, awww a Christmas time baby I love that time of the year. How was the walk? Great exercise there I'm resuming the buggyfit sessions with my translator friend next week

Ineed, oh, sorry the weather didn't help today. Picnics are fun I saw some pics of the DC in their paddling pool on FB, so cute!!

Tee, how's A doing?

Hi to all Juners!

I'm much much better, fortunately. M doesn't seem to have caught it, phew!!

I went driving with DH and did really well until an anxious woman behind me started tailgating me while I was right next to a cyclist without any space to just pass him Bloody woman made me nervous and I made mistakes after that I MUST stop worrying about anxious drivers!

Hope you all have a nice evening, ladies.

Waves!
