DWB sorry to hear it was a rough night. Ioan was out of sorts for about 4 days after his 3rd set of jabs.
Have started putting him down 2 hours after waking too, rather than waiting for the yawns and he will lie happily and drift off. If I wait for yawns etc. it seems he's already too tired to happily drift off and will fight sleeping for about 5 mins or so. He seems to get to the overtired mark about 15 mins after the 2 hour mark - strage eh?!

BeckyBendyLegs · 03/04/2010 10:12

DWB love the dresses. I want to get married again! It's been ten years this September.

We're all ok here. I've got a smelly cold. Toby didn't sleep too well last night but hey ho it's all part of the fun. My sleep is a bit better again, but not as it was. I just get anxious every now and then, which is just plain silly.

No plans today. Might pop into town with anyone who wants to go with me (i.e. not you lot but children here and DH!).

SirBoobAlot · 03/04/2010 21:10

DWB beautiful dresses The bridesmaids dresses are the same make as the ones my aunt used - the tealness colour is absolute stunning, there are pictures on my FB if you want to have a look

Misssese aww bless her!!

Hope you're all well and having a good Easter weekend.

DontWorryBaby · 04/04/2010 20:35

Glad you all like the dresses! Just can't wait for the big day now... 6 and a bit months and counting! The Teal is lovely SirBoob, just need DH-to-be to make kilt arrangements then we can pick the dress colour.

Had an unhappy baby last night, if it wasn't wind pains it was teething pains... Hoping for a better night tonight.

Hope you all had a Happy Easter x

DontWorryBaby · 04/04/2010 20:37

PS scarlotti They're a month later with jags here for some reason so that was only his second batch. I can look forward to fun & games next month!!

lemontop · 04/04/2010 20:58

DWB those dresses are gorgeous. It's weird to think this time last year I was doing all the arrangements for my wedding. Seems like an eternity ago. Hope everyone's having a lovely Easter. I've eaten far too much chocolate. Oh well will get back on the diet tomorrow!

scarlotti · 04/04/2010 21:21

Hope everyone is having a lovely Easter dc's here enjoyed their little egg hunt in the garden and are now overrun with eggs

Ioan was unsettled last night and woke early, think he's teething again and he seems to have a little cold to add to his discomfort. He's seemed hungrier again today too, not sure if there's yet another spurt on the horizon? We're also going to have to sort out his naps as the 30-40 min catnaps are doing him no favours - he's got bags under his eyes!

helips · 05/04/2010 10:51

Hi all, I'm back!

Haven't had a chance to catch up on all the news but hope everyone is ok and enjoying lots of chocolate! (I am scoffing Minstrels as I type!)

Had a good time in Singapore, the kids were great, they slept on the flight both ways and weren't fazed by the heat, although we were all a little jet lagged! It was such a busy week, we viewed properties, looked at Schools and generally checked out the areas. My head was pounding at the end of each day as there was so much to take in. Anyway, looks like we are going for it, we have found an apartment that we really like and a brilliant school/nursery for ds to go to. I still have slight reservations but think I just need to take a leap of faith as it will be a brilliant opportunity for all of us and friends and family have already promised to visit loads.

Right, off to catch up now, I may be some time!

DontWorryBaby · 05/04/2010 11:03

Glad the trip went well Helips and how exciting that you're moving to Singapore!! How long is the contract for? When will you be going?

Had another night of unbroken sleep, up 5 times. Definitely teething... Do you guys find teething gel or paracetamol best? I'm thinking paracetamol might work longer during the night.

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/04/2010 12:29

Helips sounds like you are going with your gut feeling which in my opinion is the best indicator. I did the same when I moved to Japan and had a fantastic two years.

Trikken · 05/04/2010 13:04

glad you had a good trip helips.

We had quite a good day yesterday but our 'easter egg hunt' at Lulworth castle was a bit of a let down. Its a really nice place with a lovely castle and really scenic, but when it came to the hunting we had to hunt for coloured tokens, yellow being the lowest prize, blue the middle and gold the top and the yellows were everywhere so found them in about five mins but there were absolutely no blues and apparently only one gold (found that out once we had paid and were in.) and it cost us £16!! (me and dh, kids were free) plus mil and step-fil paid for themselves to get in too. searched for four hours only found the yellow tokens (tiddlywinks) so went to measly cafe they had there where it took us half an hour to get to the food where they only had dry cake (dorset apple cake but in had no apples in) and out of date dr peppers. at the end our token got us one creme egg each. even tho dh and mil pocketed a few more than they were supposed to, which they know I dont approve of. We could have bought a big egg each for that. so disappointed by that as that was our treat instead of eggs, but next year I will make my own hunt and have all my friends and family here instead!

PreggoK8 · 05/04/2010 14:58

Hi all. Yikes what a busy thread! Tried to catch up but only managed to absorb snippits. Not been on for ages but I hope you all had a lovely mother's day and Easter
How many of you are now weaning? I don't think I can hold Joe off much longer and have given him a baby spoon with soft end to play with so he can get used to it first. It's now his favourite toy and he loves chewing it! He's 5 months now and very strong. He's trying to crawl, pulling his legs under his bum and putting his head to the floor for leverage, etc. Milk just doesn't seem to be filling him up so I was thinking about trying some purees but have the dreaded guilt that I'll be doing him harm if I do!

Ninjacat · 05/04/2010 15:45

No time to post but thought you might THIS might be of interest.

PreggoK8 · 05/04/2010 15:49

Thanks Ninja
Tick to the first 2 of the 3 signs, I suppose when it feels the right time we'll just see if he eats it or pushes it out!

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/04/2010 19:56

I started Toby after he got over chicken pox so he was 18 weeks. The first week he wasn't too fussed but played with the food a bit but now he's going gung-ho give me more mummy! He's had home-made mashed up food so far: carrot, butternut squash, potato, sweet potato, apple with cinamon, carrot, pear. Yesterday I accidentally gave him carrot and apple with cinamon but he loved it! When I weaned the others I did it quite gradually and moved from mashed / pureed to macaroni pasta, rice, couscous, and toast to suck later on. I also used Annabel Kara-whatsit's book for recipes and inspiration. I love weaning!

misssese · 05/04/2010 20:16

DWB I LOVE ALL THE DRESSES- so beautiful! I especially like the bit of the wedding dress that wraps around the arms very elegant!

PreggoK8 WAVES! How are you im not sure if i have seen you on since be4 you gave birth I remember us chatting alot while waiting ( me moaning hurry up baby). How was your birth? Are you looking forward to weaning Joe?

trikken at your egg hunt. Such a shame as it sounds like a lovely day out I guess you know for next year!

bbl glad your sleep is a bit better!

helips sounds like you had a great time! So happy you found a nice house and schools you like! It sounds like a very exciting time for you!

SirBoobAlot · 05/04/2010 20:29

waves to everyone

We're getting ready for the second meal a day phase here. I gave Bryn a jar today for the first time out of sheer laziness but it actually worked out quite well, as I have been giving him 1oz of food, but he ate about 100g (3.5oz) So think it might be time to up his portion size. I gave him half, and then he was still looking around for more, so figured I'd heat up the other half and see how much he ate (would have only thrown it away anyway).

BBL Mmm... Might steal the apple and cinnamon idea - I'd eat that

Had a lovely weekend. DP and I went to see Dara O'Briain on Friday night, he was hilarious. His main "sketch" this year was about antenatal classes / parenting, so very apt and extra funny because it was all so true My parents brought Bryn back to us on Saturday afternoon, and we used the morning to go through FILs luggage to find the stuff for the solicitors. It was very hard for DP, but he said having me there cracking a few jokes made it easier. The man had taken four toothbrushes, a tonne of anti-bac and two litres of brandy with him - did make us laugh and cry, all at the same time.

Sorry for the long post, am very emotionally drained tonight, but in a slightly relieved way, if that makes sense? One of the big "tasks" is out of the way now. Next is the funeral, and then is the clearing of the house. We're also now going for lunch with his uncle and aunt before the service - what a fantastic day to meet the family

Hi all

Ioan ate a chip today!!
We were with my Mum at a fast food place and I only put it in front of him to see what he'd do. He grabbed it and ate the end off it!! He's 3 days off 5 months old and is obviously now ready, as the chip went straight to his mouth and straight in. He's been practising chewing on his tongue for about 4 weeks now! Am going to just give him finger food every mealtime now and see how he gets on.
He's been asking for more milk yesterday and today so don't know if there's any link there..?

preggo good to see you again

Helips Exciting news about Singapore, glad you've decided to go for it, I think you'll love it

SirBoob hope all goes well tomorrow

SirBoobAlot · 05/04/2010 20:50

Scarlotti Go Ioan! Bless him! Well there's your answer if you were still questioning your judgement

OP posts:
scarlotti · 05/04/2010 20:52

SirBoob yes, thanks, am much happier now that I waited a little (as he seemed more sicky after the purees) but that he cut me some slack and didn't make me wait out the full 6 months worrying what will happen if I go back to work before he starts eating!!
Well done Bryn on his appetite too!

SirBoobAlot · 05/04/2010 21:06

Well he's obviously ready or he would have either just left it or played with it. And at least it was healthy Strangely, Bryn only ever ends up covered in food when DP is feeding him...

OP posts:
scarlotti · 05/04/2010 21:31

It was so funny to watch, I held it steady so he could grab it and was then stunned at the speed he took it to his mouth!!

Was a Wimpy chip so not salted...!

Maybe carrot sticks will now be a letdown

SirBoobAlot · 05/04/2010 21:37

Fantastic Well lets face it, given the option most of us would generally pick chips over carrot sticks

I let Bryn have a bit of chocolate earlier . Just a tiny bit and let it melt in his mouth, it was hilarious to watch the look on his face, and he was licking it off my finger with such valour he's definitely got my DP's sweet tooth!

OP posts:
SirBoobAlot · 05/04/2010 21:38

Vigour not valour!

OP posts:
scarlotti · 05/04/2010 21:58

Ha ha, I've had to stop myself giving Ioan a bit of chocolate button before now
