LOVING the weather! This is the sort of weather we have at home and I'd been missing it. We had similar, if not a bit warmer/more humid, weather like this while we were in the States. Lovely warm weather, how I missed thee. However, have realized I have NO shorts. Sebby has lots thanks to a trip to the outlets and a doting Grandma and doting adopted Grandma but I have none. Must go shopping! LOL (Had I realized before I left I didn't have any I'd have done the shopping in the US.)

Am both happy and sad to be back. It's always a bit bittersweet to leave and return to my life in the UK. I missed my hubby and it was so nice to come back to a cuddle at Heathrow but now I miss my family and all of the help and support I had. Ah well, I will settle back into life again within a few days.

I've been reading everyone's posts every few days while I was away. I should send personals, but for now will take advantage of a sleeping baby to try to unpack and clean up and do all of those fun things that come with being on holiday.

Waves to all and hope you're having glorious weather like we are here!

Scout19075 · 24/05/2010 20:07

DH came home tonight with a surprise -- a badge with a picture of Sebby that reads "I made it six months!"

WAHOO! -- I got my badge! (LOL)

Igglybuff · 24/05/2010 20:35

scout how sweet of your DH!! Did it come with cake too
Glad to hear you had a fab trip although as you say bittersweet for leaving your family. When do you think you'll head back?

HT no not oop North - I'm in south london. It's scorching here. We went for a walk at half 9 this morning and got far too hot! W has been grumpy most of today with the weather. And his room is really really hot. He insists on sleeping in his sleep bag otherwise he wont settle, which doesn't help! Also the footie - Blackpool in the premiership is just ridiculous. How are you these days? Are you feeling better about things?

HC I hope you're recovering - migraines then D&V

littlepea how you getting on? Did you pack the cat?

did you catch up on some sleep ruby? You going back to work has made me get my backside in gear - I've been in touch with them today about my return (hopefully not until November if I can help it).

Hi everyone else!

This evening I'm a footie widow as Engerland are playing. It's practice for the world cup I suppose!

HappyTangerine · 24/05/2010 22:05

Iggly Ah, my sympathies, London in this heat not good. Joe also v grumpy in the heat and currently sleeping in just his nappy.More Blackpool salt in the wounds tonight with a flaming victory parade-luckily only on the news, no fans round these parts (we're still angry that they stole our roller coaster!). Yes, am feeling a lot happier-sleep is making all the difference to my life! How did I get by on 3hrs for ages?! Had a minor wobble last week when I almost quit my degree then decided I'd be an idiot to quit half way through with marks of 85% plus for each assignment so just plodding on.

Scout yay for your badge, what a lovely dh you have!

ruby Great that your nanny signed contract. I hope the next two weeks go slowly for you with lovely weather x

Littlepea Just saw your fb post re Faith/tv- v intrigued! Am also a flute player, although not done any concerts or weddings for a while

fidelma · 24/05/2010 22:23

Just back from a walk up the hill with my gf.Bliss, chatting all the way (not realising how knackered we were)

Cooler here today but very plesant.C sleeps downstairs so it is quite cool in his room.I keep the curtains shut when it is very hot.

He is still sleeping throught the night. 7pm-5am,feed at 5 then back to sleep until 7am.No problemo.

The Scottish school finnish at the end of June so we are speeding towards the summer hols. !!!!!

Our very good friends are moving into the cottage behind us until their new house is ready. They have 3 the same ages as our first 3.The children are going to have an amazing summer mobbing around in a big gang.we will share cooking ect so it will be PIMMS ALL THE WAY !!!!!!!

littlepea72 · 25/05/2010 05:29

Morning all

Fidelma sounds like its going to be a great summer holiday at your place...love it!

HT back home we have UTV (Ulster TV) & right after the news is a spot for birthdays etc. We have sky here & the card is the one we had back home, so we get UTV. Anyways lol....it was my MIL's 60th birthday, and the family put her photo on (we didnt know about it), so my DH & DS shouted at the same time "thats my mum" & "thats nanny"!! I shouted "thats Faith!" lol....my MIL was holding her, on tv for everyone to see....her claim to fame!!

Do you still play the flute HT??? Ive been playing since I was 5, I love it. Still in a concert band back home, so cant wait to start playing with them again. My DS should be starting to learn on one of my flutes soon, its so exciting! (I really do need to get a life lol)

Iggly when I lived in Canada, we had same problem with the heat & my DS had to sleep in his sleeping bag. I used to wait till he was sleeping, then open it at the bottom so his legs stuck out, he never knew any different, if he woke up he could still feel it on his upper half. I also got a fan for his room, made all the difference too.

Ruby will your nanny live in??

HC I hope you are feeling better

Scout glad you had a great time back home, photos were wonderful. Seb has a very loving grandpa! They must of seen such a change in him

Regards to my perios off to see the doctor today, something not right. My mum went through the change at young age, hope Im not about too

Packing will continue today, maybe some grass cutting....and the cat is outside lol...but he keeps jumping into the boxes! So have to be really careful He is costing us £19 to take him back home, not that Im complaining about a messly £19...but he never gets out of the car! LOL....

Hope you all have a great day!!

HumphreysCorner · 25/05/2010 09:37

Morning all

Slightly cooler her in Lincs although everytime I move I get really hot. Feel a tad more human today and hope to start eating again. Have managed a bowl of Rice Crispies. Am 7lb lighter which is the only bonus of a D&V bug.

The International phone calls are really getting on my nerves so was rude this morning. Keep telling them they have the wrong number and that I don't live there. They don't believe me unfortunately so told them to stop ringing twice a day as Mrs HC does not live here! Bet they ring again.

Hope you are all OK. Would like to reply to you all but really don't have the energy at the moment.

Laters!

HC
x

fidelma · 25/05/2010 22:04

HC You have had a bad run of being poorly to 7lb lost the only bonous.

Littlepea keep packing !!!then stop and eat cake.

My dd2 is playing the flute.I likey

DD1 is playing the violin (just grade 2) but sounds sooooooo much better than when she first started. She also playes the tennor drum in the schoolpipe band (the champions for the last 10 years so no pressure there then) actually it is like posh majoriets LOL

I used to play the sax quite badly when I was at school. So when I was at ballet school in the big smoke I exchanged it for a running tab at a sushi bar £500 worth of sushi !!!!!!!!yum yum pigs bum

I didn't tell my parents for years. They thought that family heirloom was under my bed.(NOT)However I was used to telling the story at dinner parties etc, everyone would have a good laugh. However I told the story one night and mum and Dad were there.ooooops
Luckily they saw the yummy funny side

littlepea72 · 26/05/2010 04:46

Fidelma LOL... that is sooooo funny!

My dad also plays flute, this is why myself & younger sister play. He used to make us practice 2 hours a day, which I loved, but it put my sister off playing, she gave up when she was 13 (she was so good) and will never even look at one never mind ever play it. Now her DD wants to play, and she wont let her....so im going to teach her on the sly when I get back I think it great for kids to play something.

Not sure what it must of been like at the start, with the violin LOL....

Cat is still running about! Not a bit of bubble wrap to be seen on him yet! Im so fed up with the packing, so im going to get boxes, fire stuff in, in no order, and worry about it at the other end!

Hope you are all well, I think you must be all out sunning yourselves! Not many people on lately lol xxx

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2010 10:04

Morning all

Mum has the bug now so dad is coming to take me to Tescos. Feel to waffy to drive far and we have no food in the house. Not that I feel like it anyway.

littlepea-not long to go. Can't imagine what it is like to have to pack up a full house.

I played the clarinet at school although the sax is my fave sounding instrument. So mellow. Love the sax on some of the Eagles tracks.

Hope all OK. Dad will be here soon so got to be quick so he can get back to mum.

P.S. New thread titles anyone? My brain is mush at the moment.

HumphreysCorner · 26/05/2010 10:07

Must say only the solids from this thread title applies here as M doesn't sit and my jeans are nowhere near fitting even with the sudden 7lb weightloss.

littlepea72 · 26/05/2010 15:38

Girls I need your help & advise....

Ive tried to just go with the flow, but im now worried that something may be wrong, so bare with me

I was due AF on Monday, it still hasnt arrived, but ive been getting cramps for about a week or so now. Also my (.)'s are darking, so very tired but I do have faith. Did a test yesterday & today, both neg, cheap tests but that shouldnt matter. So im not pregnant, but would really wish the darn thing would appear so my mind can be put to some rest. Its the cramps that are worrying me. Have any off you ever/get these cramps a week before AF is due, I have only gotten them when pregnant, so not sure what is going on.

xx

Igglybuff · 26/05/2010 20:47

littpea sorry, I can't help as I've not had a proper AF for a while - although I have had cramping in the days before a day of bleeding since having William (I was on the pill for 8 years before so can't remember before that). Even today I had mild cramps but had a two day AF a few days beforehand so who knows what is going on. I think it's my body trying to get back on track.

Are your cycles regular? I know you said your mum went through the change early - have you spoken to her about it? What did the doctor say?

HT So glad that more sleep means you feel better. In the early weeks I got v v down and felt I was "failing" William - I was only getting 1 or 2 hours a stretch and he was not settling at all. It's really depressing! Even now if we have a bad night I feel really gloomy -although I think it's hormonal too as I seem to be really up and down at the moment. I was in floods of tears this morning as he woke up at 5.40am and wouldn't go back to sleep Also you're doing really well with your studies by the sound of it!

new title er er well W is sitting, eating some solids and now standing with assistance, babbling a bit and commando crawling. As for jeans - well they're a bit snug. I'll have a think! Maybe a summer related title?

Scout19075 · 26/05/2010 20:47

littlpea I can't give advice as I've always been irregular (hadn't had a visitor since October 2008) but sending hugs to you.

HC Hope you're feeling better soon. I can't imagine being that ill with little ones to care for!

Iggly No cake but I don't care, I have a badge! Five, actually, cuz DH couldn't order just one. But I said this way I can have them for different places -- one on my backpack (which, most of the time serves as the diaperbag), one on the swimbag and one on the Guide uniform (dunno if it's "allowed" but allowed be hanged, I'm proud). I still can't believe he got me one (five) but he said I was so insistant and I "stomped my foot" so he knew he should find a way to get one made.

Can't believe Sebby's going to be seven months on Friday. I've asked before -- who said our babies could grow up so quickly?! Someone asked (while I was away) if baby's first birthday's were being planned. In my mind I want to have a big ol' party. I know baby's first birthday parties are more about the adults than the baby, but they're a done thing in the U.S. and given all that we've faced I want to celebrate! I'd like to have a Very Hungry Caterpillar party.

I'm not good with witisms for a thread title but will have a think just in case.

Igglybuff · 26/05/2010 20:48

littlepea sorry - I completely ballsed up your name in my last post

BellaCullen · 26/05/2010 20:49

littlepea it could be due to stress for AF to arrive late specially with the move and packing.
I usually get cramps when ovulating and when AF arrives and pain gets worse after each child so not looking forward to mine coming back.So even if you didnt use to have cramps you might be getting them now after having two dcs.Am sure its normal.

HC we`re the same no sitting as of yet and lots of weight still in need of losing.

Never played an instrument as a child always wanted to play guitar though, hoping DS1 can learn guitar in september. He`s learning Trombone at moment in school, not my choice but whole class doing it.

Ruby would be great if you can go through the steps you were taught need to sort him out asap, want to see Sex and City 2 next week or after and want to be able to watch in peace without getting a call back home.

scout yay for the badge ,and welcome back to uk.

Thank god its a bit cooler now as N has found the heat hard to cope with too and constantly feeding during day.Hes put on 1lbs in 6 weeks not sure whether good or not HV wasnt impressed but hes going nicely on his line. She wants him up to same line as length which is 2 lines higher.Well hes been ill so not eating much food . DP just gets on my nerves saying feed him more every time N is crying and asking what food hes had,but you just cant force him when he doesnt want it.
Hi to everyone else, better go off now as typing with one hand as N still awake.
xxx

Igglybuff · 26/05/2010 20:51

x-post scout. Very impressed with the badge making! I like your idea for a 1st birthday party! How would it work? Caterpillar cakes with butterflies inside (somehow??!!)?. We should have a gruffalo one as we read that to W every night.

Also good news about Seb's finger food eating!

Scout19075 · 26/05/2010 20:53

x-post with Iggly and Bella -- Hi ladies!

Igglybuff · 26/05/2010 20:55

Hi scout, Hi bella!!

I'm going to bed now - after a 5.40am start and a trip with W into central london to meet DH for lunch I am very tired!!

Scout19075 · 26/05/2010 21:09

Iggly Because TVHC is celebrating it's 40th anniversary this year, there is LOADS out there. Lots of party things hats, cups, plates, invites, thank yous, etc. as well as toys, which we have lots of in the Scout household. While home I found this great pillow/fleece blanket (the blanket is rolled up in the caterpillar and when unrolled has butterfly on it and you can use the catepillar as a pillow). I've put it away for his birthday. I figure for the cake I'd do caterpillar and the fruit on the main cake and either a caterpillar or butterfly on Seb's cake.

Can anyone recommend some fruit/veg that makes good finger food to play with/eat/try? I'm not sure Seb likes the messy finger foods, but will keep trying. He's really starting to grasp the concept of "mmm, food, pick it up and eat it" so want to jump in with good things.

fidelma · 26/05/2010 21:57

I have an infection. The pain in my tummy & legs are unreal, also so tired. But at least im on tablets now. Body can stop my AF, so hope now it will correct itself. Couldnt of happened at worse time, DH away again for 3 days & Faith up all night screaming. Can hear her grinding teeth, so one has appeared at top. Feel sick again so better go....

HappyTangerine · 27/05/2010 11:15

Just a quick one before I return to letting Joe terrorise entertain the Susan Boyle loving neighbours by bashing on the piano. The son(who forced us to move our living room from front to back by blasting sodding techno music)has his bedroom on the other side of my piano wall. After Joe's second bout of piano practice, during which time he discovered the higher notes, man next door slammed out of the house!. I am so evil...and so happy!.

I alwayd wanted to play the piano but we couldn't afford one when I was younger so I took up the flute on a rental scheme from school. Practiced 2 hours a night, 4 hours plus Sat orchestra and Sun mass. Summers were very bus with weddings, it was a nice little earner for me! Big age gap between me and my sister so I was working when she was old enough to start playing and was able to get piano and help pay for her lessons. When dh's grandad died 2 years ago, he left us his piano so I must learn to play-we were v close and I promised him.

We've had bad news that is actually going to be good here-dh came home last night and said rumour has it that with all the civil service cuts, they could be scaling back the evening hours. That means £200 less a month...and 9-5! Yay, I get my husband back!

littlepea So sorry, what bloody awful timing. Poor you and poor Faith, hope you both feel better soon

bella I am at your hv, you can't win can you?

HC How is your mum?

fidelma Love your saxaphone/sushi swap!

waves to Scout and Iggly - J just woken up sp back in a bit for more personals, he's teething bad at the moment.

HumphreysCorner · 27/05/2010 13:50

littlepea-poor you, hope you are better soon.

Matthew is sick again today, projectile style. Sun, Mon, Tues and today. Why not yesterday? Also, it is only the lunchtime meal he brings up and it differs. He has diarrhea so he must still have the D&V bug. What do I give him as my milk supply is still not good so he is hungry after feeding.

School have phoned to say DD1 didn't get to the toilet on time so looks like she may be starting the bug. The year 6 girls cleaned her up-bless them. Mum is no longer sick but has that terrible headache you get with a bad stomach.
