HT I hope you are feeling ok, its worse when you have a wee one, you have to keep going....

Today was a mixture of good & bad. The regional (spelling??) health vistor for SN children was here for the last time today. She is the one who found my son & myself in the middle of the street last October, if it hadnt been for her, we would never of gotten the help for my son, or found out what was wrong, so to me she is an angel I couldnt cope here without her. She has become such a good fiend, and has taken over from my mum while here in Germany. She comes over every week to go through things, and we mostly end up talking, laughing & eating alot of cake! Today was the last time I will see her (im crying now!) and we sat for over 2 hours just laughing, then when she was leaving we just cried! What am I going to do without her? The children here are lucky to have her looking out for them I just feel a bit lost.

She also helped me with Faith. Not to worry about puree foods, but to stop giving her the follow-on-milk. There isnt enough cals in it, and that is what she thinks is making Faith wake up, hunger! It makes alot of sense, so back to the shop I went for the normal baby milk!! Lets hope it works.

rubyslippers · 20/05/2010 19:38

evening all

so, so hectic - 2.5 weeks till i am back at work so making the most of my last few days

Fidelma - you can pay me with (virtual) cake!

Rubes still wakes up sometimes, but a pat and a cuddle sorts her out. My sleep is still so out of whack and without a breastfeed i just cannot get back to sleep quickly

HC - sorry to hear about your awful migraines. I am sure you have tried it but my dad used to swear by Feverfew which is a herbal remedy

Littlepea - am not surprised you were crying. How wonderful that she has been such a help for you ...

bella - am happy to go through what i was recommended if you want

hope everyone else is ok ...

Lovely, warm evening here

x

Hi

Littlepea is know how you feel about your lovely HV. I loved my midwife and felt very close to tears when she came for the last time. She delivered dd and did my ante natal care with ds2.

Hope you managed a rest today ht (hugs) xx

I am in packing mode here. We go to Spain very soon...Don't really want to type the details of how long and exactly when were going, you never know who reads this etc...safety etc..but you'll know as I will be absent for a while!
I have a thread in the travel tips section about car seats, can any of you help me out with it?

I am slightly peeved that the weather here is going to be so fab this weekend!! I really hope it is nice where we are going too!!

Hope you're all ok.

princessmel · 20/05/2010 20:33

littlepea72 · 21/05/2010 06:41

Hello yet again

Just a question about AF....its not due until another week (on the day I leave for home, oh great lol) but im getting period pains for the last couple of days, some are sore & uncomfortable, does anyone else get this? Wondering if stress is doing it

rubyslippers · 21/05/2010 09:04

PM - have a FABULOUS holiday

Littlepea - sounds like you have had a night of it ... sometimes a cry is good though

No idea about your periods but stress can affect them (delay them etc)

Have a busy day (friends for lunch, then a houseful this afternoon, dinner and 3 loads of washing). Doing a carboot so I have to load the car up and get up at 6,30 am

hope everyone is ok - weather amazing here

have good days x

HappyTangerine · 21/05/2010 13:40

princessmel Have a wonderful holiday!

littlepea Sending you sleepy vibes for everyone, cat included! Stress can definately affect AF.

HC I wish I could take the migraine away for you. Hope it goes today.

HumphreysCorner · 21/05/2010 14:38

Hi all

Seem to be migraine free again, just have a normal headache now. Will have to research Feverfew. Thanks.

HT-hope the D&V is better.

PM-have a great time.

littlepea-agree stress could bring on delay your AF.

DD1 had a (rudee and cheeky) playdate here last night including tea so really hoping I can go to school and actually come home with her and only her tonight. She was out Thurs and Fri last week.

Matthew is very grizzly today but then so were most of the babies on the BF course ealier.

Better get ready for the school run. Isn't the weather lovely? Off to watch the British Siperbikes at Cadwell Park on Sunday. Will have to keep M covered up.

Big wave!

Hi to everyone else

Igglybuff · 21/05/2010 20:45

Hi everyone! We're getting to the end of the thread already. Lovely weather today

I went to the drop in clinic to see the HV, all geared up for a fight about BF/weaning. And was gutted when she wasn't there!!! I still decided to speak to the other HV about weaning but she just told me that W should be on three "good" meals a day but he was clearly healthy so nothing to worry about. Which I knew already (although I do have my doubts and keep thinking I'm starving the poor boy by not giving him big meals - but he doesn't seem to want much??) She didn't seem bothered about how much he BFs. So I'll go back in a couple of weeks and find the other one!

PM have a fab holiday.

Ruby did you enjoy your hectic day? I also see you've got a lovely pressie from your DH (saw the pics on FB). I'm

littlepea, I hope you're getting more sleep! Hopefully the higher calorie stuff will do the trick?

HT good news about J's routine. Lets hope the long stretches of sleep improve. The afternoon walk probably chills J out - I find that W needs to chill without us playing with him in the early evening before bathtime, bedtime, sleep time (or BBS as we call it!).

On weaning how many milk feeds is everyone's baby on? W still has 5 a day plus 1 or 2 overnight. I'm also trying to get him to take a bit more solids but he's not mad keen on spoon feeding although he likes finger food. When do they cut down?

sleep wise, W has gone backwards (yawn) - since we've come back from holiday and had builders in, he's not been napping properly in the day so night sleep is rubbish. We had 2 hourly waking for a couple of nights which, quite frankly, nearly killed me! The problem is that when I try to resettle he wanted boob yet DH could resettle no problem. So we're doing a bit of gentle night weaning to see if that improves thing. Last night William went for 5 hours without boob which was great - although I was leaking all over the place. I expressed 9 ounces of milk in the morning to relieve the pressure!!! Good thing too as he drunk it all in the day with his breakfast and on the way home from SIL in the car. He was really hot and thirsty so had to feed him and he downed the milk really quickly. Makes me worry about the hot weather as W doesn't "demand" feed so I'll have to keep topping him up?

Anyway, time to go to bed as I'm tired!! This weather makes me groggy and who knows how many times W will be awake. His room is really hot and stuff - we're going to move his bedroom once the bathroom builders are gone.

fidelma · 21/05/2010 21:49

Lovely weather but soooo glad that I am not pregnant. (school mummy expecting wins and she is going to be MASSIVE !!!poor love)

HT My girls like to make delias bbq chicken. They feel like proper cooks when they make that.

Bella I was going to write somehing about sleep to you but I can't remember

Ruby what kind of cake would you like (big thank you on it of course[wink)

Princess have a great holiday

Littlepea I keep thinking that my period is going to start but no sign yet.

HC you know how I feel about play dates

I love this weather.but I spend ages watering the garden

What title should we have for the next thread ?

littlepea72 · 22/05/2010 05:48

Very busy weekend here but got lots done and had fun. It was so, so hot! I made a little mosquito net thing for the bedroom window so the wee beasties can't get in and bite Joe, its lovely and cool in there now.

Iggly Are you up North like me? Sat was ridiculously hot wasn't it? Outside thermometer was measuring 30.5! Joe was so unsettled his sleep last night and latched on 11 times for big long drinks. I am tired today!

Saturday NOT a good day to be a Welsh person up North-first Cardiff lose to Blackpool, the the lovely Sophie Evans (who I know) loses out to a Mancunian in over the Rainbow! I've not seen the Ashes to Ashes finale yet, am saving it for a quiet hour.

littlepea Must not pack the cat! Can you still see cat? HV great timing(sigh). Good luck packing, not long now.

Scout welcome back.

fidelma You have inspired me to get my backside in gear re the garden. This time last year mine was wonderful, we went away to Italt for 2 weeks (seems like a lifetime ago) and lovely neighbours were watering it in the heat. Its now in need of lots of tlc I've a big open space at the back that neighbour used to use as a veg plot, now overgrown. That's next on my list.

waves to everyone
