Hi everyone

hc I'm ok thanks I haven't had any weepy moments for a while, yay! Lets hope it stays that way. How is the head?? Glad M is feeding again. I bet he had a sore throat or was too congested to feed and breathe properly. F was like that when he was in hosp, couldn't manage to do both.

fidelma your village day sounds fab I love it when the dc's can be outside with their friends.

ht Sorry you're feeling anxious I deffo agree that lack of sleep makes everything seem so much worse. Grrgh at your neighbours playing music at 2am. I'd be furious. Can you complain to anyone??

CF have a fab hols, we go soon too

sleep F is still waking once or twice a night, I can't always remember how many times, the nights all roll into one.
I think he has developed a likimg for his muslins, he holds them to his face when he goes to sleep

food Making progress here. F tries everything. Today he had an egg pitta bread for lunch and chicken with cheese sauce and mash for tea. He picks it all up, sucks it and some bits get swallowed. Very messy business...

F is really wheezy atm. He had stopped wheezing a month or so ago, but since he had a virus he's been wheezing a lot. Hope it's nothing to do with food.

Watching Glee atm while dh is at football. Hope you're ok

princessmel · 17/05/2010 20:28

Oh forgot to tell you all that I had loads of wine last night!! Hope my milk didn't taste odd.
We went to our friends house for food and drinks, and I had lots of Rose...Ooops. No hangover this morning though thank goodness.
We had to leave at half 7 though as F was very unsettled and not happy. We were at a leaving party on saturday night too and F got upset at bedtime then aswell. Doesn't bode well for our holiday...meals out etc.

rubyslippers · 18/05/2010 12:48

hi all

had my back to work meeting yesterday so was a bit tense but it went very, very well and i feel great about starting back now (also very torn at leaving the kids but i have to go back)

PM - glad you are feeling better and yay for F's eating. Sounds like he is doing well. Sorry he is still wheezy though (always something hey)

HC - how is your migraine? Do you think they are hormonally related?

LP - sorry to hear about poor sleeping ... but yay for your move.

Calypso - hope you made it on your hols

Iggly - hope you had fun

Scout - bet you are loving your time with your family

Loads of love to everyone else - Rubes still not having night feeds ... she does wake though (last night it was a poo) but i sent DH in for a change and she was fine

Just doing loads of housework today ... we haven't been there for a week, but somehow everything needs doing!

catch up later xxx

littlepea72 · 18/05/2010 14:54

Hey

Took Faith to the Health Vistor today if you can call her that. She is so young, no kids, no idea! lol...
Faith on solids, I told her she doesnt like anything but puree, and is sick with any lumps, also wont eat/ put in mouth finger foods. She HAS to eat mashed, only give her mashed and she will get hungry enough to eat it ....give her finger foods, she is being lazy, put it in her mouth until she eats it , and as for her waking up throughout the night, cant be her teething, gums dont hurt enough to upset a baby, so no way can that be the reason she is waking up, just leave her to cry
I put in a complaint. Im not going to force my daughter to eat what is making her sick, and im not going to let her cry the night out when she IS in pain....bloody silly woman! Rant over....

14 sleeps to go!!!!

rubyslippers · 18/05/2010 15:17

complain away - what stupid advice

She is 7 months old - WTF is wrong with people??

am at her suggesting you put food in her mouth to force her to eat

and i bet teeth cutting through tender gums hurt

my HV that i had with Ruby for the first few weeks was fab - shame she left ...

littlepea72 · 18/05/2010 16:20

Im just glad to be moving soon, at least im moving onto someone different, cant be any worse! Im just going with the flow, I know her ways etc, and I will just take her lead. When she is ready then great. The HV is one of these ones that goes by the book, but it doesnt work like that, every baby/child is different. Im lucky that its my 2nd time round, I really feel for the 1st time mothers that dont know any different, she must have them in a right panic. Im off now to feed her puree'd food lol...

littlepea72 · 18/05/2010 16:28

Gosh...was going to ask, its really only 5 months untill the wee monsters will hit the big 1 has anyone thought about what they will do to mark it??? I was asked this the other day, and to be honest I hadnt thought that far ahead.....

Iggly just loved the photos you posted on FB, that boy is going to be up & running soon!!

Scout19075 · 18/05/2010 17:25

Hi all!

I am here, but enjoying home so much that I only go online to email/chat with DH and that's about it. We were due to leave tonight (Tuesday) but then the BA flight attendants were to strike so DH moved our flight to Saturday so we weren't stuck with the worry if we'd be affected (either with warning or at the last minute) so now leaving on Saturday (to be back in the UK at stupid o'clock Sunday morning).

When we were here in January there were threats that my elementary school would be closing within 5 years. In April they announced it's closing at the end of this school year, so they're having a "celebration" for alum on Friday. When I heard about it at church last week I thought "I'll be home by then" but now that we're here until Saturday I can go. Was chatting with a classmate after church this week, and his wife is helping organize the event, and they said that loads of people from our class and the neighboring classes were going (over 300 people when they only anticipated a couple of dozen! ) so Mom and Dad have said they'd babysit and I'm off for a night out by myself. WAHOO! I haven't had one of those since I was pregnant!

Sorry for the me post, but I hear Seb waking up (marathon 1 hour 45 minute mid-morning nap!) and need to catch him (read: prevent him from wailing) before he wakes up my sister (who works night shift so sleeps during the day).

Waves to all of the mums and babies!

rubyslippers · 18/05/2010 20:00

scout - enjoy your much deserved night out

iggly - will have to check your piccies out

we will deffo have a party for Ruby - actually it will be for us (and mainly me for getting through over 6 months of hideous sleep deprivation )

princessmel · 18/05/2010 20:01

Hello

littlepea I am also shocked at your HV. I agree with Ruby, our babies are so young still. At 7 months food should still just be an addition to their milk feeds, not the main bulk of their nutrition. It's totally fine that she doesn't do lumps/finger food. She has years to learn these skills. Maybe just try her with them every so often to see, but no way force her. I'd leave bits of what your having on her high chair as you never know she might have a go....put it down on the tray and get on with your meal and don't mention it, and just see what happens.
Deffo complain.

birthdays Not sure yet. It's is on a weekend so we'll probably have the aunties/uncles/grandparents over, do cake and pressies and a little buffet.

scout Woohoo for the night out! That's good timing as you'll get to see lots of old friends

ruby Ooh back to work! Who is looking after Rubes? Have you bought some new work clothes?

F had courgette tonight. I sliced it into chunky strips and pan fried it. Didn't have time to roast it. He really seemed to like it
We went to the park after school, he loves the swings. Smiles and kicks his legs.

twinklegreen · 18/05/2010 20:06

Hi Everyone

Not much time, but thought I'd post to say I'm still alive! V. V. busy. Moved at the weekend, home now, yay! House build going well. Hope to be back in a few days to post properly, when all the chaos has died down xxxx

OP posts:
Igglybuff · 18/05/2010 20:21

Hi everyone

twinkle glad to hear the build is going well. Have been nosying at the pics!

princess glad to hear you're better. Sounds like you had a good re-stock of your wardrobe too

scout - glad you're having a fab time! I bet Seb is loving it too.

littlepea screw the HV. (Sorry!!). What is it with HVs?? My neighbour was told by her HV that she should be cutting out milk feeds (her DS is 7 months) and upping solids She also said that BF past 6 months is only done for the benefit of the mother not the baby My neighbour accepted all of this and is now cutting out feeds and feeling sad about it because of this stupid stupid woman. I've not seen the HV in a while, but I'm going to the clinic this week to deliberately have a fight discuss weaning and will see what she spouts.

Yes William decided to pull himself up into a standing position for the first time this morning. I was trying to get him to nap so put him in his cot and left the room. Came back and my heart leapt as he was standing there holding on for dear life, little chubby thighs wobbling and grinning manically at me!! Bless. But I'm worried he'll try it at 3am so will be sleeping in with him until I lower his mattress tomo.

HT how are you? How's J's sleeping? Good work on getting him in the cot for a little bit. It took a while to get William in his but kept trying every night and now he settles just lovely. Try not to beat yourself up - you are doing a great job with J. Lack of sleep messes with you - try and keep your energy up by eating well.

ruby wow back to work. Are you going full time? I'm going to do part time provided they let me.

HC lol at M screaming at MIL. William burst into tears when our cleaner spoke to him, yet smiled at the builder (having our bathroom done) 5 mins later!! How's M's feeding now?

Time to have a wash out of a bucket [sigh] as bathroom is out of action.

HappyTangerine · 18/05/2010 21:28

We've had quite a nice day here, been out in the sun a lot. Anyone else find it hell trying to get suncream on a baby?! Ran out of Ashton & Parsons so went into the village this afternoon and then popped in to see MIL and my neices-she looks after the Tues-Fri pm. The girls are 5 and 9 and great fun and they adore Joseph.I was trying to get him to say nana but he was just doing dada and mama until we left..thenn of course it was nana and baba all the way home!

We were playing on the floor yesterday pm and I turned round to get a toy out of the box. When I turned back again, Joe had used the footstool to pull himself up to standing! He wobbled, plonked down again and hasnt done it since but seems a lot happier in himself.

birthdays-just a small family do x2, one here and one in Wales. I suspect that means I'll have to be in a room with SIL . The Wales one will be huge, I've a big family.

My neighbours - the Susan Boyle lovers are a woman and her 30+ yr old son who has mental health problems apparently. They are big drinkers who don't surface until early afternoon and then start drinking. He sleeps downstairs at the front of the house and we already moved our living room from fromt-back because he was playing loud techo music. Now our living rooms are right next door to each other and they have a stereo on the wall blasting out Susan Boyle or Neil Diamond. I really want to move, thank God we rent at the moment.

littlepea I swear to God hv are put on this earth to teach us patience and tolerance we'll need when the dc's become toddlers. Did she not read the new info about how leaving babies to cry can be harmful? And force feeding- mmm, yes-definately putting into practice the food is fun until they're one mantra. Silly moo. Good on you for complaining.

Ruby Gld you're feeling better about going back. If it doesn't work out you can moonlight as a sleep guru

Scout Enjoy Philly and your night out!

Iggly Joseph's sleep getting a bit better thanks, although I seem to have turned nto an insomiac who just lies in the dark stressing about stuff, am so down at the moment. Also loving the photos of William on the move, he has such wonderful curly hair.

fidelma · 18/05/2010 22:20

Evening all.(waves across the pond to Scout)I am in a funny place at the moment.sometimes great (mostly) and then sometimes a bit down.I am expecting AF any time,I haven't had one since Dec 09 !

Connor is being a wee star at night. He has slept through the night for the past 3 nights last night from 6.20pm-6.45am no feed nothing
He also has 2 large daytime naps often up to 2 hours long.(he has been doing the nap thing well since Christmas)So after 10 years I have had a nights sleep, shame I wake up with masive boobs which I can't lie on and wondering if he is dead. (I do have a breathing monitor on so I know that he isn't really dead but it is wierd not to see him for 12 hours)

So thanks to Ruby and her sleep guru,it made me sort out Connor.(thanks for paying Ruby by the way)(I feel like I should contribute!)

littlepea72 · 19/05/2010 08:53

Iggly I just wanted to cry when I read about your friend & really at the HV for saying those things to her! Who does she think she is??? She should be struck off, to tell a mother she shouldnt be BFing her baby is wrong! How dare she! Go down there & give her hell Iggly!! Some people look for the HV for advise, not knowing what should be done, and getting this bad advise can be so harmful dont you think? grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........

I am happy & content today with Faith, giving her puree'd foods & toast to play with, also gave calpol last night for she was screaming in pain, teething im sure....((((waving 2 fingers at the HV))))

Scout glad you are enjoying yourself & getting to see all your old friends!

Fidelma hope you are feeling ok, getting your AF after so long is hard. ((((passing you BIG piece of cake))))

HT & Iggly at little explorers! Next thing you know, they will be running past you at speed!

HT do not worry about your SIL, just remember she is very off you! When you do come up against her, just picture all off us in your head, and what we are calling her! We will be with you in mind lol....

Twinkle glad the move is going well

Mel really glad you seem alot more happy lovely picture in my mind of F on the swings!

Ruby so glad you are getting your sleep now, very very lol...

HC how is the head???

Hello to everyone else!!

x

fidelma · 19/05/2010 20:55

HC how on earth do you manage with a migraine ? Hugs to you x

BellaCullen · 19/05/2010 21:23

Boo hoo to migraine and AF,hope mine won`t return just yet.

littlepea am at your HV and at igglys</strong>*cant believe HV told youre neighbour to cut down on bf.Have you seen her yet?Hope you have had good discussion with her.Theyre just annoying and don`t seem to have any clue.Faith will start lumps when she wants, just keep offering pieces of food at meal times for her to play with.

Nathaniel is the opposite and wont touch purees and has to feed himself. So hard for me to give him calpol at moment for his temperature as he refuses to open his mouth as soon as I try to give him anything.Hes still being a bit sick when coughing badly and has really bad diahorrea.Panicked a bit yesterday as theres measles going round here and first symptoms are temperature, sticky eyes, cough and runny nose and then rash 3-4 days after;as hes got everything except rash phoned GP but they checked him over and just has virus.

Scout sounds like youre having great time at home and itll be great to see your school friends on sat.Have good night out and enjoy it.

fidelma and ruby yay and for good sleep. How do I sort N sleep out? really need to sort him out.

Sorry to anyone I missed xxx

HappyTangerine · 19/05/2010 22:08

fidelma Don't be hard on yourself about being in lazy mode, you're so busy most of the time

HC So sorry the dreaded migraine has returned, am willing it to go away for you. I'm getting a bit nervous about my AF returning(last one was also Dec 08)

Bella if you're around - how is N and the teething?

twinkle Yay for move!

Iggly How was fight with the hv?

littlepea How is the packing going?

Nice chilled out day here with unexpected rain. Joseph didn't sleep long for his nap but I took him out for a long walk and then played with him on his crawl mat. By bath time he was worn out and he only took 10 monutes to go to sleep-asleep by 7pm . He's sleeping on me at the moment.

MIL seemed a bit worn out yesterday when I was there(my 5 yr old can be hard work sometimes, complete sweatheart, just mischevous)My MIL is in her 70s now and severe arthritis is making it hard for her to run around after the girls. I was talking to my 9yr old neice yesterday and she's mad for Junior Masterchef at the moment but she's never done any cooking at home. I love to cook so I was having a think last night about me going over to MILs and doing a bit of cooking with them both while MIL cuddles Joe. Spoke to her about it today and she's really keen. I'll pick up an apron for them each at the weekend and we'll see how we go next week. Any ideas for things I can cook with a 5yr and 9yr old apart from cookies and cupcakes?

HappyTangerine · 19/05/2010 22:11

X-post Bella-poor Nathaniel So glad it wasn't measles but virus must be making him so miserable. Roll on summer

waves across the pond to Scout

HappyTangerine · 19/05/2010 22:14

Just reread 1st post -meant to say my 5yr old neice

littlepea72 · 20/05/2010 05:09

HT why not go onto Annabel Karmel's website, she has loads of stuff for kids to make, they might enjoy that

Bella my friends wee man has just had the measles at 11 months, scarey, glad N only has virus. Does he drink from bottle? Its the only way I can get calpol into Faith, put it in her milk. Hope he is better soon.

Faith's sleeping is getting worse now. She wakes up about 11.20pm every night, nothing will put her over except a bottle, I have tried, but she starts screaming so I have to give in. Get back into bed & she is awake & ready to go at 4.30am.....Im so tired now. But ive started getting really angry at it too which is a worry. I would never do anything to her, just angry that I cant get her back on track, and the thought that im going to be almost a single mother soon, isnt helping. I just hope that the hour difference is going to mean a 3.30am start....

Coffee I think, or im not going to make it through the day. Also need to go onto Next to get her more clothes, she is growing out of everything! I wish I had my camera here, she is sitting beside in on the sofa, leaning up against me watching baby tv, every now & again she turns, looks up and smiles...just melts your heart

princessmel · 20/05/2010 09:59

ht things to make...pizza's are a good idea, they love adding their own toppings,

Jellys. Quick and easy.

Fruit salad, they love all the chopping.

home made chicken nuggets. V easy. dip chopped chickn in egg, then breadcrumbs and bake in oven.

HappyTangerine · 20/05/2010 10:19

princessmel and littlepea Thanks for the cooking tips, am looking forward to exploring!

Feeling pretty grim here, have had d & v since early morning. I'd forgot how much that knocks you for six. Joe is ok though so far, as is dh. MIL had diarrhea the other day, am wondering if there is something going round.

I seem to have got Joe into a routine that means he sleeps through from either 7pm/8pm to 2am-(how on earth I managed that, I don't know!). It usually involves long walk at 4pm, food at 5pm, playing/tummy time/helping me sort washing(he's in charge of throwing the clean socks about) from 5.30to 6.30pm then bath. He LOVES his bath now and does a lot of energetic splashing about that wears him down. Then its a feed, stories, 2.5ml calpol 50% of the time and sleep. I still end up rocking him to sleep most of the time. Dream feed at 11pm and I think latches on again at 2am ish. We are all definately getting more sleep now and are wondering how we managed 7 months on 3hrs a night.None of this works without the afternoon walk, it seems to be the key to everything.

littlepea I feel for you with the sleep, it is so exhausting you can't think straight. Joe woke up at 5am this morning and when I finally got him off to sleep, he slept for 9 bloody minutes and was then raring to go. The teething is so hard on them as well. Hope you can get through the day ok-can anyone have Faith for 1/hr so you can get some sleep?
