Brand spanking new thread everyone

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Igglybuff · 24/02/2010 21:06

Ok will try (when we decide to try again that is!!)

fidelma · 24/02/2010 21:45

Have fun practising !

littlepea72 · 25/02/2010 05:54

Hello!!

We went from 7-4-6.15am she had no solid food yesterday, so im wondering if it was the food that was causing all the wind or just sitting heavy in her tummy, so she wasnt getting a good nights sleep. What to do now lol...do i try her on solids again or just wait a couple of months

Iggly Im not allow to have any more children, after 2 c-sections & the babies being big, my scar might not make it....but after a moment of stupidness & the med centre not being able to get me a doctors appointment, im now sitting until the 2nd March begging that my period arrives! Well, my head is, my heart would love another one! Dont tell my DH I said that!!! lol....

HC always meant to ask you, how are your in-laws now, are they still giving you a hard time?

Hope the sleep doctor advice works.

Scout I love what Seb is doing with your clothes....soooooo cute!

Scout19075 · 25/02/2010 07:06

Morning all -- passing around cupcakes again for elevenses to celebrate our new thread. Those who got their requests in, come and take yours. Everyone else, try a tea flavored cake. Haven't tried them yet, but yes, there is such a cake!

littlepea It is really cute, looking at Seb sleeping with my shirt clutched in one hand and DH's rubbing against his cheek. Now, if I could just figure out how to take pictures in the semi-dark without a flash.... Must admit, it's probably one of the (few?) pieces of HV advice I've taken -- to give him a shirt or cloth of mine to help settle him at night. I don't have to shush/pat him nearly as much in the initial putting to bed now that I've shifted his bedtime by half-an-hour and he does a lot of comforting/settling on my shirt and with his dummy (as much as I dislike dummies, it really has been a boob-saver!). Tonight will try my DH's shirt sans my shirt, just to see if he can sooth the same with it.

Mom asked me the other day if Seb and I would ever be able to make it across without DH if he couldn't take the holiday (as in, before our annual Thanksgiving trip). DH doesn't see why not and now I'm seriously considering trying to get over as a surprise for (American) Mother's Day in May. Am I crazy for considering travelling across the Atlantic on my own with an infant?

Igglybuff · 25/02/2010 08:57

littlepea well fingers crossed either way!

scout that would be a nice surprise if you did make the trip. It's probably easier doing it while Seb is little than when he can run riot...

I'll have a cake! Thanks!

fidelma · 25/02/2010 10:10

scout I am not a great traveler but if my mum was in America I would be over like a shot.Go for it.

Yes please cake for me

littlepea fingers crossed either way and OMG

We have 2 years between the first 2
3 years to the next one and
4 years to Connor Bear

So loads of different age gaps.I have to say I think that I enjoyed the 3 year gap the most.

I am snowed in AGAIN

Soup on the aga and I think cakes next.I make a wicked fatless sponge and then eat it with loads of cream and jam LOL

scout I make a tea bread is that the same thing ?

Igglybuff · 25/02/2010 10:27

fidelma that fatless sponge sounds ace. Mmmmm I love cream. Shame I'm on no dairy Cakes sounds like great especially when you're snowed in. We've just got grey grey skies.

Scout19075 · 25/02/2010 10:40

OMG, looks like going home for a surprise Mother's Day could really, truly be in the cards!!! So excited I could dance (except have a sleeping baby snuggling next to me and don't want to wake him).

fidelma I don't know what tea bread is. For Boxing Day my DH gave me a cupcake recipe book that was on my wishlist and it has all sorts of unique cupcake flavors in it. One was the coffee cake I made over the weekend and another is the tea cupcakes. It's a cupcake recipe that uses brewed earl grey tea (or any flavor tea you'd like, according to the recipe). Will let you know how they are if I get brave....

Iggly I can make some cake with soya butter and soya milk instead of normal butter and milk if it helps.

How come everyone else has snow but me? We never get snow!

Stupid computer generated telemarketing phone call! Just woke up my beautifully sleeping baby! Grrr!!!

rubyslippers · 25/02/2010 10:52

scout - that is brill! Your mum will be so pleased

i think they are very portable at this age - much easier than with an 18 month old who won't sit still!

fidelma - no snow for us. Am of your aga. We have a rangemaster which isn't quite the same.

I used to love baking ... just don't have the time of inclination nowadays

calypso - swimming sounds fun ... i agree babies look adorable in teeny tiny swimsuits

littlepea - am in awe of you. When i crawl into bed it is to sleep! Let us know either way

iggly - am sure i have a book on "swaying" the sex ... will try to find it but have a feeling i leant it to someone and may not have got it back.

also, the smae thing happened to us with tax credits and it did get sorted with no problems

Ruby woke last night at 9.50 pm, 1.40 am and 4.15 am. She got up at 7.30 am and i fed her. She was gasping for her feed at 10.30 am so i fed her, and will see what the day brings. Am doing things very gently ... a few mins each day. But am more keen to push back the last feed of the day to push her past 10 pm

I am so obsessed with her sleep but when she was sleeping through i just think i am doing something wrong ...

am off to pick up DS soon from pre-school and have a little walk around

have good days
xx

Igglybuff · 25/02/2010 11:14

scout I'm on no soya too!

ruby thanks for the reassurance.

I'm starting to panic about childcare - I'm going back to work in Oct. Can anyone tell me what theyre doing? Originally I thought nursery but prefer the idea of a childminder or nanny on a part time basis.

Igglybuff · 25/02/2010 11:27

ruby that's an improvement in sleep! I'm too obsessed but William has never slept through. I've not had longer than 3 hours since I was pregnant

Scout19075 · 25/02/2010 11:27

Iggly D'oh, sorry! Do they make any other butter alternatives?

Regarding childcare, I'm giving notice in August and becoming a SAHM. Otherwise I'd be away from home for 14+ hours a day, like I was pre-Seb and that's just too much for one mommy to take!

Off for a walk into town to the post office to get the Easter Eggs off to Canada and to get more boxes for the American ones.

Igglybuff · 25/02/2010 11:37

scout I'm so jealous! Never thought I'd say this but fancy being a SAHM. As I earn more than DH though we can't afford it. But it's not too bad a commute (50 mins each way) so can't complain.

Yes there are some funny alternative spreads out there!

HumphreysCorner · 25/02/2010 12:30

Afternoon ladeez, am trying your leftover cakes as having a crap day. Message will be disjointed methinks.

M woke 3 times last night. I am suffering with pins and needles in my arms every time I fall asleep which wakes me up. Mentioned it to mum who said to keep my eye on it so worried myself sick. So last night when I went to be I felt like my heart was going to explode and I would die. Must be palpatations of some kind. Then DD2 had wet the bed despite having a pullup on then just as we were leaving for school she pooed her pants which spread all over her clothes, the toilet then the bath. Luckily I was able to ring a school mum to ask her to take DD1 to school. Didn't get to nursery though.

Going away in the caravan on Friday night just for the weekend and am meant to be stocking it up but instead I felt the need to tidy DD1 and DD2's bedrooms. Got a party to take the girls to at 4pm so am going to get a Chinese to eat when I get back.

Did I say I was thinking about No4? I must be mad after this morning. Have 3 year gaps between my DC which I find just perfect as they are potty trained and don't require a pushchair when the baby is born.

I read Hazel Chesterman-Philips How to Choose the Sex of your baby the Natural Way and for 9 months I temped, did OPKs and only DTD on OV day and the next in an attempt to have a boy. Then decided it didn't matter so did the method of BD every other night then as soon as your OPK is +ive BD and the next 2 nights, have the next night off then 1 for good luck. Was successful in month 10 with this method and despite sending the troops in well before OV I had a boy.

Scout-in your circumstances I wouldn't hesitate to go home without DH.

Better go as M sicked all over me.

HC

fidelma · 25/02/2010 14:20

HC pins and needles quite common after a baby me thinks but speak to the Dr.Re palpatations if I don't eat enough (that doesn't happen very oftenand or am too tierd I get then especially when breast feeding.Although this hardly ever happens as I know to rest and eat loads !!!It did happen a few times with DD1 and it's no nice.Cake and hugs to you.

scout my tea bread is made the same way it is delicious

Just had 40 mins with Connor in bed bliss.Just about to get ready for the 3pm maddness !

I could book out our holiday farm house if anyone fancied a weekend/week break get together. It would sleep 8 adults and plenty of room for babies. In Scotland though.Does anyone fancy it? I think we would get on !!!I don,t even need to stay if lots were interested as I could come and meet you all.

fidelma · 25/02/2010 14:22

I poromise that I am not a wierd cyber monster.

rubyslippers · 25/02/2010 14:43

scotland sounds good but it is so far from me

I would love to meet you and all the gang actually!

HC - that is the book i had! In the end, we didn't try to sway, we obviously got lucky getting our girlie

iggly - we are getting a nanny but DS was in nursery which really suited him. Having 2 in nursery was way to much £2k per month

whatever you decide, just make sure you are happy with it ...

HappyTangerine · 25/02/2010 16:57

Very quick message re meet-up-I'll catch up later as having a rather challenging day dropping/losing/knocking things over. DH working 10-10pm and Joe has had 3 teething/tired meltdowns so looong day BUT we have been out for over 2 hours each day.

I found oud last night that the wedding is over 2 days the weekend of 11th and 12th April so I'll also only be able to do a weekday realistically-the 13th, 14th or 15th. Am also stil on for Scotland in May

Another meltdown approaching so am going to knock Joseph out with fresh air . See you all later [grabs cupcake on way out]

Igglybuff · 25/02/2010 19:51

I would love to come to scotland but it's a looong way from London. We're supposed to be going on holiday in April but not sure when yet. Would love to come to the London meet though!

HT hope your day got better!

ruby initially I was happy with nursery but it's so hard getting a place around here and I think I'd prefer he was at home for a bit before going to nursery so there is more of a transition. I'll be going part time as well which will help. So nanny is my top choice provided I can find one I like.

HC number 4! Hats off to you. I hope the pins/needles and palps clear up.

Williamn is finally getting into a better bedtime routine and is going down at 7pm for the night as opposed to taking two hours to settle (although requires feeding to sleep still). Which means more time for me and DH. But we're both so tired, we just want to go to bed early. Especially as he wakes after a couple of hours for food.

fidelma · 26/02/2010 07:57

MORNING,in utter agony off to the dentist

HumphreysCorner · 26/02/2010 10:31

Oh fidelma

Feeding M then need to put more things in the caravan ready for a quick getaway tonight. Could do with baking some cakes too.

Have a good day ladies.

hi everyone

fidelma - how's the tooth?

not much to report here, just chilling out after a busy day.

HAPPY FRIDAY

BellaCullen · 26/02/2010 17:34

Wow new thread already. Nathaniels throat getting better had him checked just to make sure no tonsilitis and its not. Just have to wait for it to go.Had him weighed and hes only 12lbs7ozs just put on 1ozs in 2 weeks ,
so depressing as he seems to feed all the time.
Hes not really interessted in food and will only eat a few spoonfuls if even that, so have decided to stop and wait till six months and try BLW instead which I wanted to do anyway. Hope its the right thing but ds1 and dd ate loads at this age and loved food,N just spits it out and wont open mouth.

No rolling or sitting yet.
Yay,for Annalise to sitting unaided what a clever girl. And lovely pictures she`s grown so much since I saw you two. Still up for a meet-up any ideas where a good place is?

littlepea fingers crossed for you either way too.Think will be the last to do that as just too tired all the time.Definitely want one more baby to make it to an even four and hopefully a girl so will have two each. Will wait till N is 2 or 3 though and then see.

Am addicted to cloth nappies now and constantly on look out for great bargains, love pocket ones fuzzibunz and coolababy. What do you use at night-time?Thinking of getting some fleece pants/wraps.AM stuffing my fuzzibunz with 3 insert at moment, which works so far.Weenotions look greatr but so pricey.

Better go N getting bored and tired will try and be back more often xxx

fidelma · 26/02/2010 19:01

I am a bit floored with my root canal. We have cancelled the dinner party that we were going to have as I need to go to bed. However the hazelnut/chocolate cake that I made for it is fab so will enjoy that over the weekend.[hands around a slice to all]

Connor is eatting really well (sorry Bellcullen) he has had 3 meals today.Bannana porrige, sweet potato and green beans ,carrot and a little pear.He is much happier. He had a massive poo this evening He is now tucked up in bed.

Very cold and wet up here.I am longing for the spring. Will we ever wear light clothes again !!!

littlepea72 · 27/02/2010 05:33

Fidelma thanks for the cake hope the tooth feels better, cake with help!

I have also stopped trying to feed Faith, Bella she wouldnt open her mouth & spat it out if i got any in, also DS was eating long before now, oh well, they are all different, 6 months i will wait to also.

I have to take my cat Bob to the vets today, his neck is infected, something has bitten him i think. The vets here are so scared of him when they first see him, cant stop laughing when it happens. He is a manx (no tail), and is the size of a med dog, but he is a big gentle gaint, but people get scared of him lol. My DS uses him as a teddy bear at night, and sleeps with his arm round him.

Hope everyone has a great weekend
