Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fidelma · 08/03/2010 07:13

littlepea Yipeeeeeee

Slightly exhausted.2 DC have terrible colds.I hate it when they are ill.I am not sure how many I will manage to get to school

Lunch was a fantastic marathon.Luckly it was a lovely day so the children played outside lots.

Lix i hope the party went well.

Twinkle great news about your house.

Scout you sound like you have had a fun week.

Off to try and get everyone to school. (fingers crossed)

Igglybuff · 08/03/2010 08:51

Hi everyone hope you had good weekends!

fidelma sounds like a hectic weekend for you! Very sad news about your friend

devils and littlepea exciting about the solids! We gave W a banana and cooked carrot over the weekend. He was chewing on bits which surprised me and I found bits of carrot in his poo. So it obviously went down. However I thought it would have been digested so maybe it's too early for solids? Can anyone enlighten me!

littlepea great news on the sleeping! William has a horrible horrible cold and he can't breathe through his nose at night despite the humidifier, olbas oil, nasal spray and me syringing his snot out he only manages to sleep for half an hour at a time before waking with a coughing fit or blocked nose. His cot is also tilted. As a result we are VERY tired especially as we can only get William a bit more sleep by holding him upright at night

twinkle I'd love to build our own house. One day I tell myself, one day!

Hi lix i don't think we've met on the thread before! I'm impressed you've gone back to work - I couldn't cope.

scout I love baby massage athough it doesnt relax William - he thinks it's a game and goes mental. Bless!

It's a lovely sunny day here in London. I was hoping to go to our local library for bounce and rhyme followed by a walk in the park. However William is finally sleeping (in my arms) so will see if I can get him to catch up on some much needed sleep. No point trying to stick him in the cot as he won't last. I'm worried that the little progress we made with sleep is all out the window!

I also had some sad news with my great uncle dying. He was 89 and terminally ill but I'm so sad he was like a granddad to me especially as I never met my GPs. At least he met William and was rather taken by him.

devilsadvocaat · 08/03/2010 09:17

oh iggly sorry for your loss x
btw it's quite normal to find undigested food in their poo. even at 2.8 ds1 still does occasionally

(also banana can look like stringy worms when it comes out the other end!)

littlepea - charlie slept 7-8-11-3-6
think his tummy must be keeping him up at night. he didn't seem fussed though just hungry. he has been sipping some formula out ofa spout cup but i think i need to invest in one with only one hole in the spout as this one comes out too fast.

how quickly did you guys progress from one meal to two/three?

i will put him in his room if he ever when he starts sleeping with only one feed in the night again.

hooray for more lovely sunshine again

HappyTangerine · 08/03/2010 11:48

Has anyone's baby not particularly liked baby massage? Yes you guessed it. Just had an hour of Joseph grumbling and crying while all the other babies were niceley chilled out along with "How old is he? Isn't he tiny?" Er no he's cruising along quite nicely thanks . Even sitting up he was in a grumble. Got him outside and he was like a different baby [sigh]

Luckily did not cancel out the lovely day we had yesterday at a National Trust house and gardens (with him in a sling!!!) but I wish he would chill out a bit. Maybe a lot of this has to do with the fact we woke him up for class but it was hard work. Daren't take him swimming because of his hatred of the bath though I desperately miss being in a pool.

Mums of babies born around 5th Oct-how old are your babies? I'm not sure I've kept track

Iggly Sorry about your uncle and fidelma sorry abput your friend.

Back later for more personals, right now I need chocolate.

lixanismapolium · 08/03/2010 12:44

HT - Phoenix was born on 5th Oct and is 22 weeks today ... unbelievable!!!

princessmel · 08/03/2010 14:38

Just a quick post...sorry for the sad news

I have an idea for the FB page. Do you think we could have a list of all our names, mn names, babies names and DOB's??

twinklegreen · 08/03/2010 14:45

I'll see what I can do princessmel

OP posts:
fidelma · 08/03/2010 15:15

HT I am sure there is a book on highly sensitive children that a friend of mine read it helped her with her children.I can find out what it is called if you like.My DD1 was and is quite sensitive but utterly lovely. You will have a very special bond.

DD1 managed to stay off school. She has been under the weather but I think she needed a mental healthday !!!!! If you know what I mean. She is outside now with her daddy trying to get rid of the moles in the garden, despite my early morning threats of "if you are ill you have to stay in your bed all day" as if.You would think by now that I would of learned not to make threats that I never will follow through.[sigh]

DS1 has also been off nursery but he rewarded me by sleeping for 2 hours so right decision there.

My mum has gone to pick up DD2 hence my computer time

princessmel · 08/03/2010 17:40

Thanks twinkle I think it would help me (and all of us) to keep up to date with who everyone is! When I look on the FB page I forget which RL name is which MN person!!
And who's baby is who's...

Hope your dc's are feeling better Fidelma I know all about ill children....

Just made brownies, they have turned out lovely and are gorge. Yummy!

All of you who's dc's had bronchiolitis, how long after did they cough for? ds2 coughs every night. Loads and loads in a huge coughing fit. He is still very rattly, wheezy and chesty sounding. How are your dc's chests ???

twinklegreen · 08/03/2010 19:15

Have put a list of stats in the 'discussions' area of the fb group

OP posts:
devilsadvocaat · 08/03/2010 19:51

pm - charlie has not had a cough for a long time now, cleared up after a week or two. maybe take him to the docs? could be asthma.

off to look at the stats

princessmel · 08/03/2010 20:00

hmm maybe. ds1 and dd have asthma, but they're not wheezy, they cough. A different sort of cough though. ds2's is looser iykwim.

The hospital and doctors said his tubes would take a long time to recover, like a smoker who's given up. Their tubes take a long time to be repaired.
Everytime I go to the docs I mention it. Last time they said the noise is ok, but if the breathing rate speeds up then it's not ok.

devilsadvocaat · 08/03/2010 20:12

well, i know dh had bronch. as a baby and mil said he had a v crackly chest afterwards. he was also prone to getting chest infections. maybe a good idea to keep a good look out for tummy or neck sucking in when breathing which could be an asthma attack. i guess they wouldn't be likely to prescribe anything unless they're absolutely sure due to his age.

try feeding in a steamy room to relieve crackles.

princessmel · 08/03/2010 20:29

neck was sucking in earlier. breathing rate totally normal though.

devilsadvocaat · 08/03/2010 20:43

if his neck or chest is sucking in then you should get an appt with a doctor and tell him/her.

princessmel · 08/03/2010 20:47

I will do tomorrow if he's doing it then.
He is totally happy and normal atm though Watching football on dh's lap.

I pretty sure I know all the signs to look out for.... Chest recessions (ribs showing first, then the diaphram...had both when admitted before)
Neck tuck, head bobbing. Fast breathing rate. he was on 80 breaths per minute then

Thanks DA

princessmel · 08/03/2010 20:48

well totally happy but wheezy and crackly iykwim.

devilsadvocaat · 08/03/2010 21:41

typical boy, watching footy

theboob · 09/03/2010 06:00

hello all
sorry for not being online for a while , well I started to wean Madison and she has some kind of reaction to food which makes her very sick causing her to go floppy and not wake for an hour at a time , this is very scary one trip in an ambulance was pure hell , it's a mystery to the docs what it is so i'm leaving her for a while now

development wise she rolls , sits for a few seconds , has said da da and now has 2 teeth (which she bites me with)she is a very happy little girl always laughing , she is 6 months next week i'll try to catch up with the old thread and this one and should have more time now , madison is going through a very clingy stage

fidelma · 09/03/2010 07:01

Boob great to hear from you.Sorry to hear about Madisons food intolarance.

will catch up later.i need to get everyone up.

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2010 09:46

Crikey, only missed 2 days and loads of posts.

Iggly-so sorry to hear your news.

lix-respect to you on returning to work and losing weight. Weight Watchers is the best way. I am an ex helper and a lapsed Gold Member.

fidelma-glad your day went well. I am cooking for 8 adults and 2 children on Sunday and am already worrying.

theboob-poor little Madison, hope a solution is found. How frightening for you.

Twinkle-don't forget to take lots of photos.

princessmel-you should go to the Drs just to put your mind at rest.

Going to give Matthew some baby cereal today as yesterday tea he was sat on my knee screaming uh, uh, uh at my tea.

Big wave to everyone.

CalypsoFramboise · 09/03/2010 14:04

Hiya all,

Lix & boob hi! {waves} can you both come to a London meetup in April? - Actually I will investigate if I can make a FB 'event' - don't want to be the only person turning up!
Hope Madison's food reaction clears up, sounds really scary.

iggly sorry about your uncle, thats really sad x

HT lots of babies don't like massage at the begining; its a very intense experience for them, try doing only one or two limbs per session and build up from there. Bravo on getting the sling done!

weaning gave Annalise some baby rice with EBM on Saturday, went ok but not sure that she's 100% ready. She's 23 weeks now and will give it maybe another week and see. Was really looking forward to it but now not so sure. As my MiL pointed out, my entire personality type is REALLY at odds with parenting, I'm so routine/structure orientated its really hard for me to go with the flow - something I really need to reign in with naps and baby-led weaning!

HumphreysCorner · 09/03/2010 15:23

Matthew ate all his baby cereal then had a sleep in his cot (first time during the day). Hope he has it again tomorrow.

Scout19075 · 09/03/2010 15:54

Quick question -- can you mix baby bonjela and baby calpol? And is better to stagger the giving of them or do it together? I think there is active teething pain and want to help but don't want to dope the poor baby senseless.

Will post more when I have use of both hands -- Seb's fast asleep in my arms and I dare not wake him given how much of a struggle sleeping has been today.

Thanks for any advice!

~S~

princessmel · 09/03/2010 17:00

That's fine scout
