Sorry about the title

Cocktail anyone?

belgina · 06/03/2010 20:08

x-post with jael Thank you for coming back Jael and apologising to Dandy. I hope we can all move on now.

Lets start this thread over again in the morning.

Hope you're all having a good night.

OP posts:
essenceofSES · 06/03/2010 20:09

Reggiee -

Can't think of a joke....
How about...
If you took away an elephant's trunk, how would it smell?
Trunk or no trunk, it would still smell pretty bad

Ta-dum!!

Running- hope your household wakes up less snotty in the morning

Fi - are you germ free now?

Belgina - yay for shopping but not so much I guess for lost shoe or poor napping from C

Llare - LOL at reading "nit book" out loud

hinny - nothing wrong with monster munch! I like the pickled onion ones!
Hope your DD2's sleepover goes ok. I'm sure it will help for her friend to have her around and if the grandparents were sure, I guess go with it.
Just so sorry for your loss still. It sounds like Thursday will be a sad but also an opportunity for all her friends and family to be there for her one more time.

saus - hope you're having a fab time this evening!

younger - that does sound like a v strict diet! Hope you manage it and all goes ok.

Right, DH is cooking steak for tea so I'm off. May pop back later.

pulapancake · 06/03/2010 20:11

Great joke reggieee. I was trying to think of something funny to try and cheer up the thread but couldn't think of anything.

Not been on FB or MN all day so was to see what had been going on when i logged on just before bathtime. I don't like confrontation either, and try to see things from both points of view.

dandy - sounds like you are going through a really difficult time. Hope things get better for you soon and you will be missed if you decide not to come back on this thread. And thanks for sharing your MM stories with us.

jael - I know I do it myself sometimes and jump to the wrong conclusions, so I think it is very important to apologise. Hope you will do the right thing.

SinginHinny · 06/03/2010 20:14

Dandy please keep in touch. Please, please. I need your pithy and insightful comments. Please, please, please.

jael please don't act instinctively again, please read the comments. People are trying to be supportive.

Bloody norah let's please get back on track. We all need the support. We ALL do.

essenceofSES · 06/03/2010 21:33

I'm back!
Watching the Simon Cowell interview whilst sat in bed.

O had a full day with DH today as I had work and then went wedding dress shopping with SIL-to-be. Good news is we found the dress Gorgeous modern beading across the bust with a more traditional A-line shape.
I arrived home to a v tired DH and O took a few steps towards me holding onto his walker

Anyone around with any more rubbish jokes?!

pulapancake · 06/03/2010 21:52

Jael- I'm so sorry, but x-posts earlier and only just noticed now. I was eating my tea and posting in between which is why it took me so long. Well done for apologising to Dandy- so glad you did . Hope you can accept my apology too. And try not to get too down - I saw your FB status tonight. Tomorrow is a new day, and a fresh start. It's been so spring-like here lately- i love this time of year as it's like a new beginning- I think Spring is my favourite season .

ses- let's hope DH realised how tiring it is looking after a LO all day . What a clever O walking to you with his walker .

febes- meant to say earlier that I am keen to know how R takes to the no night feed thing. S has been teething/ill and got into bad habits again. He will only nap 15 mins in the day and then only go back to sleep if fed/cuddled (even though he will sleep 1.5 hours at nursery). He also sleeps badly at night, and so do I. He woke tonight at 9pm - he had wind, but then refused to go back down. I have decided to not feed before 10pm (otherwise we'll never be confident about going out in the evening and leaving him with PIL) so I spent 30 mins trying to settle him, and DH is up there now. Looks like i will be going to feed him soon as he's just not settling. And to think a few weeks ago he was sleeping from 7pm to 4am .

flippinegg · 06/03/2010 22:04

Q. What's red and sits in the corner?
A. A sad fire engine.

Are Essex girl jokes allowed? I have a good one.

I've read today's happenings, and really don't want to get involved. But I do want to say Dandy - I really hope that everything works out ok for you. And on a selfish note, how on earth am I ever going to buy any new clothes and shoes without you?!

ses - well done O!

Belgina - glad you got your unladylike shoes, but what a pain about DS's shoes. Hope C is ok with all the non-napping.

I'm sure there's more, but I'm typing one-handed tonight, I've got a poorly baby. High temperature which is well-controlled with drugs, but the moment they start wearing off, poor thing is terrible.

Oh and tummum - DH DNFed! So he was home a lot earlier than expected.

flippinegg · 06/03/2010 22:13

llareggub - lol at the nits story!

fi - hope you are all ok now, and fab news about the pattern!

febes - hope the sleep/no night feed thing goes well.

younger - hope you are ok and not too anxious or hungry.

One last word on THAT thing - I agree with Hinny, I'd hate for this group to fall apart, it's been a huge support to me. I'm not sure I would have got help without you.

pulapancake · 06/03/2010 22:51

Arghhh finally got S back to sleep.

flippin- I agree that this thread is a great support. I also might have carried on muddling through, suffering with PND in silence, but you lot convinced me to speak to my HV/GP, and in fact I think it was Dandy's comment about my worrying behaviour towards the DCs that hit home and made me realise i needed to do something to sort myself out.

I am not sure i am totally back to normal now i'm off the ADs so it certainly helps to have you lot there to talk things through.

And I am looking forward to the 2 RL meetups I have arranged to meet some of you ladies and your lovely LOs .

FiByTheIcySea · 06/03/2010 23:03

Right.
Dcs asleep in bed... check.
Settled on the sofa with the laptop all to myself after DH DH cooked dinner! & handed me a glass of bud... check.
Find page 21 where I last was on this thread... check.
This could be a long'un!!!

Flippin how's your cold? I hope the toilet woes with DD1 slightly improved and you've had some easier nights sleep wise. Ahh two more teeth coming through... have they appeared yet? I hope the counselling is making a difference and you got a less puffy face this week (as long as you didn't hold anything back that is!). Don't feel selfish about having that hour to talk about you... after all the rest of the week is about your everyday life... you deserve an hour out of it just for you! How did the 3rd b'day party go? Oh no! vomit across the dance floor... hoping there were no repeats at home for you. After DH getting his day off cycling today is he giving you next saturday off? A's climbing out of the tripp trapp G tries to rock side to side while in her high chair (a wooden Svan one) I can't leave her alone for a second either as she sometimes manages to literally lift the base off the floor as she pulls/rocks! The floor is even and the chair is heavy... she's just strong & stubborn! I expect window cleaners see it ALL but won't have through your frosted glass & steamy shower.

Febes Great news about your supply teaching and workingLadywithBOOBS made me lol I hope your house sells quickly, to a easy buyer and for a top price too . great news on R not needing night feeding.. G is also another wriggler to the top of the cot in her sleep. I normally quietly creep into her room to check on her before i head to bed and I always have to gently lift and place her back in the middle of the bed so she has room around her. If i don't she tries to thrash around in her sleep and the noise of her whacking the sides of her cotbed, then whinging and squeeking about it wake me up... her too sometimes!

headless how's work & the pick ups doing? I hope the sore SF arms are almost back to normal. I'm another that'll be hitting the big 40 this year mid may. Where has he time gone?!

sausage at your delicious food choices for thursday lunch I was wondering how your lunch went & looking forward to reading about it over the next few pages G does the crawl with stuff in her mouth... her fav's are still shoes and socks

FiByTheIcySea · 06/03/2010 23:09

oh and if anyone has the right to tell essex jokes it's MEEEEEEE. Yes! my name is Fi and I was born an ESSEX girl Orsett hospital... so here are a few off the top of my head.

Why was the essex girl staring at the orange juice carton? It said concentrate

What does an essex girl use for protection during sex? A bus shelter

How does an essex girl turn the light on after sex? opens the car door

when does an essex girl have more than one braincell? when she's pregnant

i've got loads more

FiByTheIcySea · 06/03/2010 23:25

Well looks like by the time i finished my catch up i've run out of time to tell you about NS....sorry. Suddenly my eyelids are drooping and I need to get to bed. So night night all and sleep/get well all xoxox

SinginHinny · 06/03/2010 23:52

Ah look, I'm off to bed.

My friend's dad was as bloody lovely as always. 'Thanks for letting me 'borrow' DD2, it helps normality'. I honestly can't bear it. They rang at 21.15 when they were putting the girls to bed. He thanked me again. The man is mourning the loss of his own daughter. I can't bear it.

I can't bear knowing that they're keeping normality going whilst missing her so desparately. Her dad was in tears. I can't bear it. He is a lovely, selfless man.

I know I sound self-indulgent. I can't bear it. I can't. It's so bloody awful.

Look, I'm sorry. I'm struggling. She was great. She looked after DD2 when I had S. She didn't think twice. I miss her.

I'm going off for a bit. Please let's all get back to normal.

Please. Please.

FiByTheIcySea · 07/03/2010 07:14

morning the sun is out!

sending you big hinny
what's everyone up to today?
youngerthanspringtime · 07/03/2010 07:27

Fi, impressive catchup post and monumental name check !

Singin, if you're reading this, please come and cahat to off load. you shouldn't be going through this alone. i know you'll be trying to keep a brave face, bless you.

i'll be back on later to see how everyone is.

keep the jokes coming!

essenceofSES · 07/03/2010 07:34

Morning!

Fi - lovely and sunny and spring like here too

I'll probably try and take O to church later this morning and maybe a walk with the dogs this afternoon. We've got a chicken from our local farm shop to roast for later too

hinny - ((((hugs))))
I wish I could do or say something to help but we're all here for you.

sleep - O slept 8-5 last night! Only about the 4th time he's ever slept so well!
pula - hope S feels better soon and his sleeping will go back to his best nights. I find it difficult to revert back to bad nights after a few good ones. It kind of lulls you into a false sense of security sleep.

essenceofSES · 07/03/2010 07:36

X-posted with younger. How are you doing?

Fi - meant to say your Essex girl jokes really made me

FiByTheIcySea · 07/03/2010 07:44

essenceofSES · 07/03/2010 07:53

Aww, that's lovely news Fi

Right, O is patiently waiting for me to get him changed and have breakfast. I'll be back later!

FiByTheIcySea · 07/03/2010 07:53

I know another essex girl joke but it's a bit eew shall I?

Ooo sesgreat news on the sleep front & can i come to yours for lunch? yummy!
youngerthanspringtime · 07/03/2010 08:21

hi all, didn't expect company this morning.

beautiful, sunny, cold here. Ses, brilliant about O sleeping.

Fi, that's wonderful news about your friend, it's good to get some positive news.

all ok here. slept a bit better, no panic attacks (always a good thing), a bit hungry, but 24 hours from now, i'll be in blissful (blissful?) sedation.

bovril on the menu for breakfast after this black coffee and sugar. see you all later.

Fi, yes to the Essex joke!

FiByTheIcySea · 07/03/2010 08:41

hiya younger you'll be fine this tomorrow i'm sure.

are you sure about the next joke? it WILL make you laugh but.. eew too?! - we've just made a spur of the moment decision to go into bristol to the museum.. show DS the dinosaur skeletons and go for lunch somewhere. when we were all talking about wagamamas i googled and it's just near the museum so maybe we should try it out?!
llareggub · 07/03/2010 09:00

That was possibly the best name-check post I have ever seen!

It is a beautiful day here. I have a rare child-free and husband-free morning so I am off to the gym and then have some invoicing to do. When I am all done work-wise I will update you on some exciting news I have had and, inspired by fi, attempt a similarly impressive catch-up post. Only with no Essex jokes.

Have a good day....

febes · 07/03/2010 09:15

Wow! I go out for the evening and there is loads to catch up on!!!!!

Fi That was some post. It must have taken you hours! I'm so glad you are over the lurgy now and I hope now that spring has sprung you and yours will be in full health. Yes to the rude jokes and come one with the NS news.

Pula 3 nights now with no feeds until 6.30 in the morning. I don't think he even woke up last night (but I was quite drunk when I rolled in so maybe I just didn't hear him) I waited until he was all over his bugs as Jan and Feb were one thing after another. Then I noticed that he wasn't really hungry when he woke and was more comfort sucking. He also started waking more (every 3 hours again) so maybe comfort/habit waking. So I just went cold turkey and didn't go in to him. He probably cried for 20-30mins the first time but then went back to sleep. He woke at 5 and only cried for a few minutes but not frantically. This morning he woke at 6.15 and chatted to himself so he seems much more content with life and not so desparate for feeds.

Belgian Well done DS!! at waste of EBM. Good luck with tomorrows shift. Will you be on labour or post natal ward??

Hinny I feel so for you at losing your dear friend. Her poor family- I just can't imagine what they are going through at the moment. It's just the worst thing. Keep offloading here.

Dandy Please don't leave us forever. This thread just wouldn't be the same without you and your funny stories and practical advice. I hope your RL stuff gets better. I'm thinking of you.

Ses Well done O for walking!! He'll be doing it without the walker soon then he'll be everywhere!!! R is also keen to get up and chase his sister.

Flip Hope A is feeling better today. I love your fire engine joke!!

Younger Hope your not too hungry and not too woried about tomorrow (difficult I know) My BIL has to have them every 5 years because of family history. They aren't pleasant but good to have peace of mind.

febes · 07/03/2010 09:17

Llaregg I meant to say at size 12 jeans and at DS1 and nit book.
