Hinny so so sad Thinking of you. Hope you managed to find a book. Winstons Wish might have some helpful info.

belgina I'm not surprised you are proud, reading in front of the school can be very scary! Well done ds1!! Dandy glad your part went well. I loved My naughty little sister!!

We are on day 2 of no oven. It's the element in the oven thats gone, so I still have the hob & grill. DH has decided he'll fix it, but hasn't looked at it yet. If it goes on much longer I might just order a new one - that way I dont have to clean it either!!

Morning!

muddled - lol at the new oven. I was very grateful when we had to have a new one, I hadn't cleaned the old for a long time and I was scared of doing it!

dandy - what a faff about the passport photos, hopefully they'll be acceptable. Pssport photos make me laugh though - the son of a friend has dual nationality so has two passports, both issued when he was a baby; in his American passport he has blue eyes, but in his British passport photos he has brown eyes!

We had a good night last night, A woke at 2.30 for the first time! Busy day today, got a 3rd birthday party to go to.

Hope everyone is ok.

Ah good! I came on here last night and read poor Hinny's sad news and wrote a nice sympathy-ish post but MN froze and logged me out - TWICE. Gah. (And before anyone thinks I'm a heartless old cow, I fb'd her, so ner.) Hope you are ok today, Hinny. Dandy - don't listen to DID. Nor the Archers. I don't even know what radio 4 is tuned to - am a bit of a radio 2 fiend, but I must say I'm missing Terry Wogan (so I have to tune in on Sunday now!)

Belgina - and about the wasted EBM! I hope you had words!

Lunch with smugmum wasn't too bad. Her BLW was more like feeding her baby what was on her plate with her own hands rather than him doing it himself. (And it actually wasn't that much, as he clearly could not have parma ham, camembert, duck liver pate.... God I'm a cow.... no, there was normal bread and some pasta and normal cheese as well.....ahem) M did a better job feeding herself her pasta (although I did spoon feed her the bolognaise). We have a tripp-trapp in the dining room and a v cheap plastic-y highchair with a tray in the kitchen, so I put both in the dining room and guestbaby went into the cheap-o one ONLY BECAUSE I thought he was going to make more mess than M. I was a bit and when smugmum started wiping it down with a dettol wipe before he got in and also wiped the tray too. Hm. Made me feel all unclean and dirty. I put a nice big rug thing down in the lounge with loads of M's toys down for them both to play on and mooch about.... M charged about everywhere and was chucking toys about all over the shop (as babies generally do) - smugmum brought out a ball for guestbaby which she bought in his baby sensory class he goes to (sorry, but WTF?! Sorry if anyone does that! She only has one day in the week he's not at a class or group or something....) ANWAY this ball lit up and bounced and M charged at it and naturally wanted to chew it (like slippers, coal, phones, remote controls, coasters...) and she took it OFF her and said 'no darling, it's not for chewing' and gave it to her baby. I was a bit and AND a bit - who makes baby toys that aren't chewable? And her baby was drooling all over M's toys!! Ok, so M was a bit snotty and it looked a bit like a number 11 bus under her nose but only for a SECOND.

Harumf. Rant over. I think I need more tea. I even gazed a bit too long and lovingly and the open bottle of wine in the fridge at breakfast time...... la la laaa.

Have a nice day everyone. It's lovely and sunny here and I am going to take lots of painkillers for my gammy hip and take M out for a lovely long walk after lunch.

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 10:45

Dandy - bbbrrrzzzzppppprrr (that's a raspberry!)

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 10:53

Oh and guess WHAT - DH and I are going out tomorrow night (my parents are coming over the babysit) in Camden - we are going to see these people in concert. I told smugmum and she said 'oh, I thought you would be going to see something trendy' - well actually, they are they are bloody funny and very clever. Have a look at this f'rinstance. I can't wait!!!

Hope those links worked.....

SpangleMaker · 05/03/2010 12:15

Hinny oh, what tragic news . I can't begin to comprehend how her poor family must be feeling, and indeed you and your DD2.

belgina a big pat on the back for your DS for doing so well and being brave and talking in assembly. And one for you, too, Dandy. Sausage now I am a bit because we do baby sensory and have one of those balls for H! He does put it in his mouth though. I have tried in vain to stop him doing it with the ones they use in the classes (which have been rolling around everywhere and in untold other babies' mouths) but there is no point, he just gets in a massive strop. And there is no way I would Dettol a high chair a friend had provided, any more than I'd go and wash the plate and cutlery they gave to me. I think your friend will have to stop being so precious as her LO gets older.

H has another tummy bug. - that's a big yawn from being up half the night changing bedding, grobags, nappies (4 in the space of an hour at one point). He's eaten quite a lot this morning so fingers crossed it doesn't make a reappearance and that he's on the mend. More fingers crossed that I don't get it as I'm going out tomorrow with the NCT girls, leaving DH to do bedtime alone for the first time

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 15:27

Oooooh no spangle I didn't mean to be rude, sorry TBH I was a bit about said bouncy lighting up ball... and I was a bit more 'wtf-y' about all the classes her LO goes to (although I do confess I'm a bit confused / intrigued what happens at baby sensory - maybe it was her description?) and mostly about her taking it away from M, even though her baby was dribbling all over M's toys. IKWYM though re toys at classes - M goes to tumbletots and chews everything there - I've given up stopping her...

Good luck with your DH doing H's bathtime tonorrow night.... nya ha haaa!

Tummum · 05/03/2010 18:39

Sausage... I am no longer talking to you because I am soooooo of your gig out tomorrow night. I have been wanting to see them for aaaaaaaages. Particularly as I am learning how to play said instrument. I got one for Christmas. Excellent fun. Watch out for the Smells like teen spirit. Brilliant.

Have been out today at M&Ds. Was nice to be looked after for a bit, lunch and cups of tea and extra pairs of hands for DD2 and DS1.

Hinny how are you feeling today?

Spangle Hope H recovers soon.

Dandy sorry, don't listen to Radio 4. Or, indeed, any other radio stations. I am a radio luddite. Amongst other things !

Well, I am hoping for a better weekend. DH and I have been arguing lots, and it's getting me down. I think I am so cranky from work, and he is a lazy sh1t, so the combination of the two are not making a harmonious Tumm household ATM. So I am making a pledge to not be too cranky over the next couple of days.

Hope you all have great weekends.x

HeadlessLadyH · 05/03/2010 19:44

tummum oh dear. Have a glass of wine. Forget about work and housework. And just relax. Its Friday!!

hinny hope you're bearing up. How are the children (yours and your friends)?

dandy radio one in this house

febes · 05/03/2010 19:55

Our house is on the market!!!! Off to sort the HIP now. Photos will be taken on Monday. DH has been working like a demon on the house all week and we now have a finished house with tiles and grout and paint and stuff . Cross fingers we get a quick sale from a cash buyer with no chain .

pulapancake · 05/03/2010 19:59

Evening ladies.

saus- I am at your "friend" and her dettox wipes. It does sound a bit PFBish although i don't think i've ever owned any anti-bacterial wipes - I work on the principle that all bacteria is good bacteria and that it is good for a baby's immune system to be exposed to stuff (although i am getting a bit peed off with all the colds DS2 is getting from nursery ). And to take a toy off a baby saying it's not for chewing . Babies use their mouths for learning and sensing so she should expect that toys will get sucked/chewed on and shouldn't bring em if she doesn't want to share them.

tummum - sorry to hear things are difficult between you and your DH. I have been getting snappy with my DH lately- I think we need some time to ourselves without DCs. We are taking a day off together in April to celebrate our 6th anniversary which will hopefully be nice.

dandy- no radio 4 here either. If i do listen to the radio (usually only in the car) it is usually radio 1 (trying to pretend i'm still young even though i'm 38 ) or radio 5 if DH has been in the car before me.

Hopefully my DH will be back at 8pm after 3 days away. Bedtimes have been fine really- i just get DD and DS1 into bed by 6.50, letting S crawl around the floor and play with toys, then BF S and get him down for 7.15. But today was hard work as S has a sore throat and hardly napped so i feel like i haven't stopped all day. I took the DCs to soft play after collecting DD from school and saw an old male work friend there with his 2 yo DS. It was a bit . Basically he was with his DP for years and years. Got married and she was wanting to start a family but he wasn't "ready" and wanted to travel the world etc first (and have a few one night stands along the way ). But anyway, they finally decided to TTC and when she was pg, he had an affair which ended but his DW found out anyway and chucked him out. Today he had his DS because she was finalising the divorce. It made me for him and his DW and his DS. He sees his DS twice a week after nursery and has him some weekends. He seemed a bit obviously with the divorce proceedings, and although he brought it on himself.

youngerthanspringtime · 05/03/2010 20:19

quick post before I do some work .

Tummum, hope you do relax tonight. It's easy to be snappy at the ones closest to you.

pula, great idea about doing something together without DC's. As much as it's not on the top of my list, I recognise it would be a good thing to do something together so might oblige to DH's requst to take me away at least for a night. sounds romantic? i really need to work on getting into the mood.

Pula, glad you were ok with bedtimes, I find them quite stressful especially now I have to put some work hours in at night. Hope you're relaxing now.

dandy, I quite like radio4. Don't listen to it as much as I did when I arrived in the UK, though. I didn't hear DID and I've lost touch with the Archers but that's easy enough to pick up again. I always loved the shipping forecast and the sea medley they used to play around 4/5am when it switched back to radio 4 from World Service (they don't play it anymore). gosh, I'm a bit odd, aren't I? listening to Radio 4 at 4am?

Hinny, hope you, dd2 are ok today. Thinking of you, x.

sausage, your post made me lol with the dettox wipes, etc. also a bit .

ladyH, have fun tonight. also, I'm so glad you're happy going back to work. Hope things work for the best for you there wrt redundancies, etc. always a tough time. It happened to me at Rowntrees before I went back from mat leave with dd1. good luck.

spangle, your H is utterly gorgeous

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 20:22

Hehe, I still can't get over dettolwipegate! Good point, Headless - I don't know if she MNs.... probably not... her baby is velcroed to her all the time and she probably doesn't think having a baby in front of a screen is good for his development or some utter tosh. As for squalor. Erm. Not really. Unless you count under the sofa? Its terrible under there. Found a loo roll under there the other day...

Tummum - nooo! I bought said instrument for DH last year (although he has hardly touched it) - as I went to see UOGB a couple of years ago. DH's uke is a cheap crappy one, and when I was pg I meandered into one of those lovely shops on Charing X Road and gazed longingly at a 3 figured priced one. Oh yes, it will be mine.

Radio and people hanging onto their yoof (comme moi).... radio 2 is the way to go - all the DJs are ones that used to be on radio 1 abour 25 years ago. Simon Mayo has even brought back the confessions bit. All we need now is Simon Bates doing Our Tune and I'll be one happy bunny. Not sure where Bruno Brookes is these days.....

Ahem.

Still, also sorry to hear you are having DH probs (I did snigger a bit at your FB statuses the other day, the ones aimed at him and the dishwasher!) - Pula too. We've been arguing for aaaages, so we are really looking forward to a good night out tomorrow night. Usually does wonders.

Pula - and all the other emoticons re your male friend. Sad state to be in

Oh and Headless if you get your ski chalet before your'e 40 this year ( - you don't look it!) please can I come and stay? I'm not that fab at ski-ing (esp with gammy hip) but am very good at apres ski and once wow'd the dance section of the snow train to Meribel with my dancing of Rachel Stevens 'Sweet Dreams my LA Ex'. I say wow'd. They were probably looking on in horror. Faaaaaaaaar too much vodka. (Scarily enough this wasn't that long ago. Eek!)

Sensible hat back on. I'm going to do some tidying and ironing and other mumsy stuff....

youngerthanspringtime · 05/03/2010 20:28

oh, and back to radio - I HAVE been listening to 6 music since it's been on air so now may have to find a new radio station. am a bit unsure about radio 2 but may give it a chance. I love XFM (can sometimes get on digital) and just found an NME digi station which was very 6 music-ish. sausage, really like Simon Mayo (from 5Live) and didn't know he was on radio 2.

ok. back to work.

febes · 05/03/2010 20:31

I listen to LBC. I love listening to people whinging in the middle of the night .

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 20:35

Oh and I meant to say, Flip - have been thinking of you... (easier when you can put a proper face etc to the mystery name!) - of course Hinny's friend puts things into perspective, but please don't let something like that decrease the importance of what you are feeling and going through. Everyone has their own stumbling blocks, however big and small, and what may seem insignificant to one person may be huge to another. I am certain no-one on this thread will belittle your 'wallowing' - and it isn't wallowing, it's what it is and how you feel. So big EXTREMELY non-MNy hugs to you. In fact, as Reggiee said the other day, hugs to everyonneeeeee

Febes - good luck with your house sale - ours has been on the market for a month now - we've had nearly 20 viewings. Not ONE sniff of interest. We've already lowered the price. Snot fair

(Can you tell DH is out and I have started on the vino?)

(Oh.... and I am SOOOO loving being back! Wooooooh!)

Where's Sexybuilder when you need him?

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 20:40

Younger - Simon Mayo does drivetime - 5pm onwards - I think till 7pm. Chris Evans is doing a grand job of taking over Tezza Wogan's breakfast slot. Then it's Ken Bruce who I just can't gel with, but I love popmaster. Then it's Jeremy Vine, which is FAB - a real talking about topicsy stuff. Then Steve Wright in the afternooooon (so reminiscent of circa 1989) then Simon Mayo..... dunno after that. Saturday mornings is fab as they do 60s music for a bit, then Jonathan Ross who I actually think is FAB, but I'm never allowed it on as DH thinks he is a kn&b.

Blimey, I should go into marketing for radio 2....

Febes - our secretary at work always has LBC on in her office.... quite often used to sit there and listen to Vanessa thingummybob get her knickers in a twist...

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 20:42

I nearly wrote Vanessa 'joe le taxi' Paradis. Hahaha. Obviously its Feltz!

hopalongsausage · 05/03/2010 20:44

I am clearly talking to a brick wall here, so I am going to get more wine, make a few calls, then come back and name change and lurk in AIBU.

Maybe.

They are a bunch of rottweilers in there.

youngerthanspringtime · 05/03/2010 20:54
essenceofSES · 05/03/2010 20:56

saus - I could have written your Radio 2 marketing post! Definitely my station of choice. I think Chris Evans has been doing a good job at breakfast although I think he's not gone down too well with some of Terry Wogan's old audience. I actually never really got on with Terry's breakfast show though tbh.

Febes - yay for house being on the market!

Spangle - I agree, your FB photos of H are gorgeous!

U-oh! O coughing lots and awake now. May try and catch up again later...
