OMG!!! fantastic MJ. well done. I'd need a brandy after that. Guess you'll be getting it alterned now...

Canneloni sounds fab. Spinach and ricotta is good and easy. What ingredients have you got?

Moose, hope you are feeling better.

or you could make this and have it with your purple sprouting broccoli. It's basically Shepherd's pie with added butterbeans. Delicious and both my toddlers ate it. Not sure if you are veggie though! We are having colcannon for tea, topped with poached smoked haddock. yum!

120, if you mean our new branch's NCT sale, I'm definitely going, it's round the corner from me, look forward to seeing you there. If the weather's not too horrible the centre where we're holding the sale is in a park with a lovely kids' playground and a small, but cheap, cheerful friendly and tolerant cafe. Though of course we will have to buy/eat any cakes that have been made for the sale...

120 · 23/02/2010 15:58

yes if there is some meaty or deeply savoury flavour to it. Like some mushroom or dark soy.

120 · 23/02/2010 15:58

fab. see you there elkie!

treedelivery · 23/02/2010 16:12

I am soooo glad the ring turned up. Phhhheeeew!

Dog - good one ya!

Poor you Lennie. Hope it all get's easier soon.

Moose - I get sore skin when I'mill and it's the pits. My sympathy indeed. Poor you!

Another one under the weather here. I have both dd's as dd1 was really quite couchy and poorly yesterday. I was so tired today I cried and also fell asleep when dd2 was asleep. DD1 is watching cbeebies and being largely ignored

There are days like these.......aren't there???????

Work truly truly exhausting. No babies to look after either, mine were all on SCBU or still inutero.

elkiedee · 23/02/2010 16:23

HZ, thanks for asking, sorry I haven't looked at the thread for a few days. My mum has an appointment on 3 March where she expects to hear the results of both her biopsy Friday before last and her scan yesterday, and a progamme for treatment.

Re books, I've done some swaps on a site called readit swapit, but have still have some spare books in need of a good home, including some hardbacks which are just too heavy to post. I'm wondering if 120 or hz would like any of them?

moosemama · 23/02/2010 16:42

Yup Tree, there are indeed days like these - many, many of them in our house recently. I too cried this morning, so you are not alone my lovely.

We have passed on homework tonight, as I feel too rough, so boys have bedded in on the sofa with me for a rare opportunity to watch afternoon tv. Dd is occupying herself destroying the Baker Ross catalogue.

The school, has done us proud and dealt with the bullies (who turned out to be year 5 boys). They have been spoken to by both ds1's teacher and their own teacher and made to apologise to ds. His teacher said he was so lovely and forgiving and said "Well, as they've said sorry, I suppose that's ok. They're probably alright guys really."

His, teacher also said he has been in a great mood and been really well behaved. Although she did say that she had never in her life seen anyone wriggle quite as much as he did in viola practice this afternoon. She said he is a fidget anyway, but this afternoon he was off the scale. Didn't like to tell her it was because he hates having to stand up for a whole hour because it makes his legs ache and he finds it really boring.

Have just nailed down the guestlists for their birthday parties and successfully managed to manouvre them into not inviting the trouble makers. [crafty Mummy emoticon]

Just seven children for each party, including my two and their cousin. So only four each from school, which is doable, I think.

Sorry if my typing is off, I can't be bothered to preview and dd keeps shutting the screen while I am trying to type. Think she might be hinting at something.

Ok - yuck! Now she is blowing very sloppy raspberries on my ankle, think I'd better go and pay her some attention.

moosemama · 23/02/2010 16:43

Sorry Elkie, took me so long to type my post I missed yours. Will keep everything crossed for your Mum's results. Sending lots of un-mnetty ((hugs))

treedelivery · 23/02/2010 17:05

Here too Elkie.

In fact thread hug - so so much going on. We are all being or have been dragged from our baby bubbles. I for one enjoyed the muffled sounds and hazy light of the baby bubble and want to go back in.

Besides Dog is there plumping cushions.

Have you joined a 2010 thread Dog? When are you due??

tinksbabyis1 · 23/02/2010 18:04

Just doing a drive by ....Moose I haven't forgotton to email you, just not had a chance and don't have the resource on my home puter so will do it from work tomorrow.

Just walked in the door, DH walked out to go to work, left me with two screaming brats children and no bloody milk for tea. Grrrr. My sister is coming over shortly, there is nothing to eat....double grrr.

moosemama · 23/02/2010 18:37

HKZ honestly, don't worry about it. You have enough to think about at the moment.

Could you call your sister and ask her to bring food and milk? I often do that to my Mum, dh is forever leaving me with all the dc's and no bread or milk. Men!

Moose...tis not a problem in the lsightest. Think my sis is coming straight off a plane so can't bring stuff. We have a shop about 5 doors down....just need to wait til kids are sound asleep before I can leg it down there as sis is running late and I am in need of tea...or maybe wine now. Am hoping she will want a take away and treat us.

I just had a bit of a shopping accident...there is an extra 50% off greenbaby in thier clearance sale so have picked up lots of nice summer bits (eek to the tune of 60 quid...must hide from DH)

Sis arrived....

I'm defo off to greenbaby now. Glad the pie was good! Our lot ate all the colcannon and haddock. Am waiting for DP to heat our serving of it now. Sadly can't taste a thing, but hoping it's all goodness to make me better.

Honestly between HZ's shopping accidents and DOG making me broody, I'm a bit stuffed with this thread. Tis bad for my relationship with DP (very rare )

Elike.. definitely interested in the books.. what ya got? Hope your mum's appointments go well and that she has plenty of support. DP's Dad went through it all 3 years ago and has come out of it with a clean bill of health and yearly check ups, but it was a very long year for us all at the time.

PatTheHammer · 23/02/2010 20:44

Oh good lord, missing a lot!

MissJ- glad you found your ring! It may sound comical, sifting through all the starw and manure but I bet it was really not funny and a horrible experience. i am always losing stuff, DH never buys me any jewellery now as I lose it all!

Dog/120- mine love shepherds/cottage pie too, made one with pork mince last week that they loved.

Dog- good luck with scan, how exciting!!! Great news about Arlo too

Moose- sounds like parents evening better than expected and some good results achieved. Party sounds much more manageable now

Stripey-good to hear from you

Elkie- good luck for your mum's appt.

HZ- annoying bout milk, have a good takeaway. even more annoying was yesterday I ran out of my t-bags and DH had not got any on weekly shop, grrrrrrrrrr. Couldn't even have a cuppa till I bought some this morning en route to work.

Tink- prefer red coat too.

well, had a short chat at bed-time with DH and he was very good and asked advice about what to 'do' with DS, he says he can't really remember what games and stuff he did with DD, he admitted being preoccupied with work but its promotion season so I guess I'll have to ride this one out! Also he had his annual oncology check-up today (he had testicular cancer aged 20) and that had been preying on his mind, but good news, after 10 years he no longer has to go back for scans/blood tests and be 'felt-up' by the consultant every year, so hurrah!!! He was in a really good mood after so I guess it has been a really big thing, even though he would never admit it! Also the cars MOT doesn't run out till friday, so we are technically not breaking the law till then, phew!

PatTheHammer · 23/02/2010 20:48

Oh, Tree- sorry you are feeling wiped out. takes a while for the 'back-to-work' bombshell to evaporate doesn't it. Good luck for your next shift, hopefully some nice cute babies to care for

Book thing- I am in for a club/group/forum thingy, but terribly slow at the moment with loads of schoolwork. In the hols I read like a demon

Gumps- 6am, wooo-hooo! Hope all was well last night too.

120 · 23/02/2010 21:05

Tree, sorry I missed you off. My brain is like a sieve, honestly! Just sent off the green baby wholesale form. T'would be good to use their stuff for my business. We shall see.

Lenni · 23/02/2010 21:10

Just read everything but am so completely wiped out I can't function. Today has been a total vomfest style nightmare with 3 children and not an hour without sick. And tomorrow I need to teach undergraduates, how I am going to do that is beyond me, I will have to locate a brain first, and then try and remember some of the things I am meant to know.

Dog - Can't wait to see bean pictures. Yay, that's Thursday sorted then.

Tree - get theeself to bed. And don't worry about rewashing nappy.

MissJ - Wonderful news about ring. You must be so relieved. Meant also to say before that understand skiing being more about the decision to have two. I have found having two so different to just having one, but it is lovely different. The first months were hard, but the newborn thing sees you through, and then once DS got a little personality of his own it all seemed okay again. Now I just have two little people to share life with and it is fab. DD seems to have fallen in love with him too, they were giggling together about kissing each other today, was so cute. Of course, the vomit and snot exchange was not so cute but we can't have it all.

moosemama · 23/02/2010 21:57

Pat, parent's evening isn't until Thursday. I went this morning to talk to his teacher about the lunchtime 'incident' yesterday and then again to find out what happened this afternoon. SENCO meeting should be next week, hopefully.

Glad chat went well and that your dh's results were good. Must be a load of both your minds. He must have been so stressed with that as well as work to worry about.

Lenni, eurk, poor you with all that sick and poorly children.

HKZ you are lovely. Hope you have a nice evening with your sister and a lovely takeaway.
