tumblewweed here today!!!!!!!!!

moosemama · 19/02/2010 14:44

Books, poor you. Hope that's the end of it and you feel better really soon.

Gumps, sounds like the cc is making progress, well done. Hope the jabs go ok. I have had my head in the sand about dd's, I should be taking her for her 12 month boosters next week (she is 13 months) and I am all of a dither about the MMR. Both boys had it, but what with all the ds1 stuff I seem to have lost my nerve with dd.

I feel rotten today, very hormonal and tired. Am thinking AF might be just around the corner.

Dd is actually quite poorly today, she's had a runny nose for a few days going from clear to green and gungy then back to clear and back to green again and developed a temp last night, which has been kept under control with calpol. She didn't sleep at all well and was really restless and crying out a lot. She looks really pale and is very clingy and tearful, but doesn't seem to have any other obvious symptoms. I have seen her sticking her thumb in her ear a few times though, so will keep a close eye on her in case its an ear infection.

Boys have been good again today - I could seriously get used to this.

Strange question. Does anyone know anything about weird looking tongues? Ds1's tongue is bright red with large pimples all over it and patches of dark blood red colour around the edge. It does not look right at all. He hasn't got any other symptoms, and say he feels fine, but is a bit pale and tired looking. I'm assuming its viral and probably related to the nasty cold he had last week. Alternatively could it be a vit/min deficiency due to him being gluten free at the moment? Anyone got any ideas? I made the stoopid mistake of googling and now wish I hadn't.

evening all. Just popping in to see how HZ got on. been a bit manic at this end but hoping at some point to get a chance to read up!

hackneyzoo · 19/02/2010 19:55

Evening all, GOSH appointment went well, MRI was fine and we got home about half six, so hopefully will get some results towards the end of next week.

120, am going to head to MOC around 11 or 12 tomorrow if you guys are about and fancy drinking lots of coffee while the children run riot interact with the museum displays.

moosemama · 19/02/2010 19:59

Just checking in to see how you got on HKZ. Good to hear it went ok and you are home safe and sound.

PatTheHammer · 19/02/2010 20:10

HZ- glad it went ok for you today, just hope you get some clear results this time.

Moose- I had a very sore tongue a few yeasr ago and spoke to the dentist who gave me some antibiotics and special stuff to gargle with, I had painful pimply things all over it. It was nasty but cleared up pretty fast.

Gumps- good progress on the CC, that must make such a difference to you. Z has his MMR next week, they also told me to leave 3-4 weeks in between that jab and any others. None seem to affect Z though so far.

Books- that cake does look amazing, I must post one of Z's Thomas cake on mine (and claim to have made it myself even though my friend did it). Hope you are feeling better, nothing worse than looking after well DC's when you feel rough

MissJ- Lovely to see you and N today, he is such a cutie, so sweet when he was flirting with DD!! Sorry about moody DD, hope she hasn't put you off girls for life! She was knackered though, fell asleep in the car on the way home whilst Z was chatting, singing and clapping. He passed out at 6.45pm though, hoping for a good night! Hope N's jabs went ok this evening and you get some sleep tonight.

Just knocked up a curry with the leftover chicken from weds, this cooking for guests is exhausting me, I shall be glad when everyone clears off, my house is also a complete crap-heap!

missjackson · 19/02/2010 21:23

pat DD was lovely, honestly, there is no need to apologise at all! I think when you are not the parent, any little strops or demanding behaviour is like water off a duck's back (see what I did there? ) She is a gorgeous little girl and such a smarty! We had a wonderful time. Z and N were such sweet little puddings together. N slept in the car on the way home too and then shouted his way through dinner at the farm.

hkz glad it went well for you today. MOC sounds like fun - are you and 120 around next thurs at all, or is it just fridays you have off work? I am in London for a wedding at the end of next week, but already have plans for friday. I should have thought it through better.

MM that tongue sounds nasty, but tongues are sort of weird when you look at them for too long I find...

Well, after a long drive and lots of fresh air at Slimbridge at the half-term MN Jan 09 thread meet-up , I am knackered and am off for an early night.

hackneyzoo · 19/02/2010 21:40

Grrr miss j, would love to meet up, but am back to full time so have no days off

Pat and missj your meet up sounds fun...wish we all lived closer. DH and I have been discussingmoving up to newcastle in the autumn (he's a geordie)...even further away from everyone.

Pat just saw your update about Z looking delicious in his PJs, Jude does too....I could eat him all up at the moment. In fact even DD is being uncharacteristically sweet. We bought her a nurses outfit and doctors case and she has been walking round being Doctor Whitby all day and taking care of jude . (But on the other hand poor old J has a huge scratch mark on his face from her sisterly effections)

Books hope you are feeling better, the same thing happened to me last friday and wiped me out all weekend.

Gumps, well done on the CC, I think we are going to start with that next week...I need a full nights sleep.

Moose, hope you are feeling better too, glad your DCs are all being lovely, must be due to thier fantastic mummy

Me with the rat moose and no heating hence relative absence. Will be back in morning to catch up. Night all x

hackneyzoo · 19/02/2010 22:45

Hope you caught that rat lenni

Just saw a really sweet movie called 'Away we go', cool indie flick about a couple expecting thier first baby and looking for a place to live. Amazing soundtrack, am currently loving this song Alexi Murdoch Wait Am also currently feeling completely soppy and sentimental and in love with DH and Dcs. (I am always a hormonal mess after my period )

moosemama · 19/02/2010 22:46

Glad you had a good time at Slimbridge guys. Had a quiet day here, just lots of housework in the morning and clingy, crying dd all afternoon.

Dd was lovely at bedtime though, she kept blowing me kisses and then grabbing my head and hugging it really tightly. It was so sweet. She's also started doing the hand signals for 'wind the bobbin up' and 'round and round the garden' and today she started leading me to things and saying 'look, look'. Can't keep up with her at the moment, its no wonder she's restless at night. Now, if she could just stop calling me Daddy I'd be really impressed!

Ds1's tongue doesn't seem sore and isn't bothering him at all, it just looks horrible. This cold came with a horrible sore throat, so am thinking it could possibly have been a strep thing that he's getting over, thus the similar tongue appearance to Scarlett Fever. (He had that a couple of years ago.)

Aw thanks, HKZ. I don't feel like a fantastic Mummy today. I am definitely in PMT land, as well as having this stinky cold, so more grumpy, moody Mummy I'm afraid.

moosemama · 19/02/2010 22:53

at rat Lenni. The joys of living in the country eh!

My Dad was forever rat-proofing his house in Ireland against the little blighters.

We found out that leaving cotton wool soaked in essential oils (citronella, peppermint, spearmint, tea tree and eucalyptus iirc) at likely entry points and under floorboards etc kept them out when the house was half-built and empty one winter. (Might not be so easy to do with a mobile baby in the house though.)

My sister has successfully used just peppermint and tea tree to deter mice though.

Hope your heating is back in action.

Night.

Gumps · 19/02/2010 23:04

Oh god now freaking out about jabs. S has been sick in his bed and is now screaming the place down. I have tried holding him but it doesn't help. I think it is more about the fact we woke him to change him as he was asleep in a pool of vomit. Breathe. Think I may be here all night.

Gumps · 19/02/2010 23:09

Haven't abandoned him, I am going in every 5 minutes and have just given him a dose of calpol.
Docs told me to have flu and mmr together and said it was fine. They said mmr won't upset him for 10 days or so but flu might today. Random as first flu jab and swine flu jab didn't bother him at all. Poor child has had so many needles in him.
HKZ glad scan went ok but another week to wait? Poor you.
Mosse sad to hear ds1 not well. Dd sounds ultra cute. S hardly talking at all but each day I notice more sounds and word like noises. We nearly have duck and a very sweet moo that he does without opening his mouth.

Gumps · 19/02/2010 23:22

Asleep but feel a long night ahead...
Looking at posts was only 15 mins or so so why does it feel like eternity when they cry?

moosemama · 19/02/2010 23:38

Oh Gumps, poor little S, hope the calpol works soon and you all get some sleep.

I hate all this vaccination stuff, I always feel its a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Dd has just woken up and been given another dose of calpol as well.

Ds1 isn't ill per se. He was ill last week with the horrible cold dh, dd and I have now, but he seems completely better, other than his really disgusting looking tongue and being a bit tired.

tinksbabyis1 · 20/02/2010 08:49

morning

sounds like u all have all had goo sats

we r off to zoo

hope u all have good sats

treedelivery · 20/02/2010 11:44

Hi everyone!

Sorry to hear of vaccine nasties, but good to hear that Jude had a straightforward trip to hospital HKZ. Thinking of you, and all the thread x

Work Monday. My head is up my arse and I can't think about it as I cry. So I'll come back when I'm a bit saner. x

treedelivery · 20/02/2010 16:19

Oh Lenni - a rat Not Good. Have messaged you on FB re the nappy. I also told about mum's doggy passing over - so I hope that wasn't horrible for you to read.

You too Moose. I'm sorry if it was. Mum is better now, she has dd1 for tonight, and is going to break the news.

How was the night Gumps?

dd1 is 5.4 and has just hit a size 8. She is now a c fitting which is apparently very incredible. Also very expensive as Clarks just laugh at us, so independant italian shoes all the way. yay

God I'm all out of kilter. Worried about work, dd1, no mumsnet so have lost my place on all the threads and missed news and important goings on. Ama fish out of water.

PatTheHammer · 20/02/2010 17:16

Tree- I totally sympathise with your going back to work angst, and not that its any consolation but I've been so busy over half term that I now have a set of reports to write for year 7 and 30 books to mark before monday, arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhh!
FWIW, I have been watching 'one born every minute' and thinking of you doing your cool midwifey stuff and being extremely, but it will be hard leaving your squidgey little H so sending lots of hugs too.
How is she doing sleeping wise now? Any better?
Yay to having computer back though!

Well, rellies have finally left huge sigh of relief. The clen-up operation starts here, particularly as my dad just took apart our toilet and shower in the en-suite to fix them, they were leaking all the way down through the middle floor to the living room!!!!

Tink- hope you enjoyed the zoo, was it Marwell? I used to love it there, but then I would love any zoo on any day I am such a saddo!!!

HZ- Lovely song, and lovely DD. I did fill up a bit at the thought of her pottering around being a little doctor, taking care of J. When we ask DD what she wants to be when she grows up she always says 'A doctor......or a mermaid'

Gumps- hope last night was ok in the end.

well, Z just plastering my kitchen with salmon fishcake and tomato and basil pasta so I guess I must go!

moosemama · 20/02/2010 18:05

!!!

That is the face of a woman who (knowing she has to do 2 boys birthday parties in 6 weeks time) has just returned from a 5 year old boys birthday party with all of the boys that will be at her second party!

Never before have I been to a party (or anywhere else come to think of it) where one child yells "fight!", they all jump on top on each other and all hell breaks loose. I say all, all except my ds who doesn't like fighting. According to the birthday boy's Mum her son told her that ds is too nice to fight because he's a kind boy and all the other boys are horrible.

I think we need to revise the guest list in light of todays observations and revelations. I was the only Mum that stayed so got to see what the little monkeys really get up to when their Mums and Dads aren't around. Let's just say one or two boys in particular will not now be receiving an invitation.

They had a really good entertainer for an hour and half of this party as well, so lord help us!

Right, got that off me chest.

TREE, so good to hear from you lots of ((hugs)) and hand holding and tissue passing for Monday. Don't worry about the dog thing, I have my head up my arse about the reality of that particular topic really, am dealing with things practically and seem to have put my emotions on the shelf about it all for the time being. [big woos emoticon]

Pat, hope you are going to spend time reclaiming your space and chilling out rather than cleaning up and marking/report writing this evening.

Dd is not speaking to me for going out without her. It is unheard of mind-you. She just woke up, demanded a milk feed, finished then gave me a filthy look pushed me away and cried for Daddy! Humph!

treedelivery · 20/02/2010 18:49

Oh Moose - they sound like...er....little rebels. Could be less than pretty!

I have my head up my arse too Moose we can have muffled conversations

moosemama · 20/02/2010 19:21

Erm, rebels not really the right word Tree! Think Lord of the Flies!

To be fair if a couple of them hadn't been there it would have been fine, so as long as we don't invite those particular boys we should just about survive the experience.

Just be really, really grateful you have girls.
