missjackson · 18/02/2010 09:13

Quick pitstop to say pat, see you there tomorrow 11am, really looking forward to it - too much PIL time this week so desperate for an escape!

Crappy night last night - must have woken up every hour at least for quick feed, and the one time I really tried to 'feed him short' he tossed and moaned for 20 mins before I took pity and fed him again... which is totally not the point. Seems like all these programs are sort of good in theory but hard in practice from all my MN research!

120 · 18/02/2010 10:27

just a quickie for Pat and MJ...

I saw in the WWT mag that we get they are doing an adopt a bird thing where you get a soft toy bird and a jute bag. Would you have a quick squiz in the shop and see if they are worth it?? ta.

moosemama · 18/02/2010 10:46

Morning

Dd is a green slime monster. I am already fed up of wiping her nose this morning, yuck!

MissJ, sorry to hear about your bad night. Early days though, I'm sure it'll get easier as the nights go on. Hope you get a better night tonight.

Books, hope dd is better and that toast stays where its supposed to.

Tink, I'm also having a quiet one today. Thought I might have a go at the recipe of the week legendary lemon-drizzle cake later, as one of the comments says it comes out well as gluten free and its ds1's absolute favourite type of cake. Might even be brave and ask the boys if they want to help make it.

All quiet on the western front so far this morning. Dses playing nicely together in their room and no fighting or shouting whatsoever yet, despite being up since 7.00 am.

Lenni · 18/02/2010 11:57

Am lurking - lots of work on at the moment with uni, which is good but also unexpected and hence not planned for. Heating also broken and DS's passport application taking me about 12 attempts so all in all having a nightmare. Daren't look down as I walk around the house, vacuuming severely neglected

Hello Shanster - lovely to hear from you. I also demand a birth story

Books - Sounds like your DS is pretty far ahead of my DD with letters, amazing that he got the L word in context. I think I need to readjust the balance between telling her about stuff and just going about our daily lives. I can see she is getting increasingly frustrated with it now. at the conception sofa!

HKZ - I have the same problem with baby stuff - is everywhere in heaps and our NCT sale not until May. I must ebay but can't be bothered haven't got time. Someone on here once told me if it doesn't sell for more than £7.50 on ebay then it actually isn't worth the time listing it by the time you've paid paypal fees, postage, packaging materials and ebay fees. Not sure what value they were placing on their time though?

Fingers crossed for you Moose that you have a peaceful rest of half term. I'm sorry but am having to blank out the problems with your dog, sure you'll understand.

Have fun at Slimbridge Pat/MissJ, hope the weather is kind.

moosemama · 18/02/2010 13:02

Sorry if I have upset you by going on about my dog Lenni. Didn't mean to, just needed to let it out, as dh seems to be able to remain quite emotionally detached this time (probably a self-protection thing) then again, she's mine really, he never really bonded with her.

No Moose - you haven't upset me, I just can't bear to think about it, I'm sure you know what I mean, poor you with your old girl. My boxer is 7 and as you know they only live to 10 or 11 at best. I have that horrible fear in my tummy with him now, I couldn't bear for anything to happen to my first baby. That's why I just refuse to think about it.

moosemama · 18/02/2010 15:44

Totally understand Lenni, I was just the same with my boxer cross gsd, he still owns my heart now. Boxer are such special souls. Mind you, my friend's boxer girl lived until she was 14, so you never know.

Books, the cake is lovely and your dcs are gorgeous, I love the juxtaposition of how cheeky dd looks in the first one against how angelic she looks in the second. She could charm the monkeys from the trees with a smile like that.

Well our peace has been shattered, had to happen I suppose. Ds1 couldn't find his nintendo game case and came downstairs to tell me, waking dd for the third time in the process (he ALWAYS wakes dd when she has a nap ). I told him it hadn't left his bedroom so to go and look for it properly and he'd probably find it. So, he went back upstairs, sat and wailed for 5 minutes then came down again to tell me he couldn't find it anywhere and it was lost forever! Went up to supervise looking for it and this time it was me that had a meltdown. I kid you not, every piece of lego, marble run, marbles, knex, bionicle, gogo crazybones and general piece of rubbish flotsam and jetson (sp?) was spread the length and breadth of their bedroom. You couldn't even see the surfaces let alone the floor and there was even stuff under the wardrobes, chest of drawers, desk and beds. Apparently, they were having gogo battles. I'm afraid I saw red, as they had both just blatantly lied to me and told me that it was tidy. So I am now really cross with myself for losing control, being a shouty Mummy and setting a bad example in anger management for ds1. My throat, which already hurt quite a lot, is now really sore as well, as a suitable punishment for not keeping my cool. To cap it all, when I came down, dd had woken up and was screaming the place down in her swing, but I couldn't hear her from their room.

I have left them sorting and tidying their bedside cabinets and will have to go and make my peace in a minute. I think another slice of chocolate cake and a strong coffee might be in order (purely medicinal you understand).

hackneyzoo · 18/02/2010 15:48

Its miserable weather hear, typical half term. jude has an MRI tomorrow under GA, just got the appointment thorugh, so very happy about that.

Books I love your butterfly cake, it looks fab.

120 Thank you for lovely lunch, was very sweet seeing H and J acknowledging each other playing together and DH loves the picture as do I.

Lenni, brrrrrrrrr, poor you and the heating, hope you are keeping warm. Know what you mean about ebay, not sure its worth putting kids stuff on individually thats just going to sell for a few quid, takes me forever to upload it and write the ad too. 120 has jsut told me there is an NCT sale in march and has volunteered to flog a few bits for me Hope the studying goes well. I am nominating tomorrow as a study day, should be able to get a bit done when I am at hospital with J.

Ahh, MissJ you cracked! I keep cracking with J too, DH accused me of pampering him, but I can't help it, he's my tiny little baby still.

Morning tink, so what did you get in the post? Lots of lovely boden stuff?

Pat, you do sound very much like a domestic godess these days, I need to take a leaf out of your book. We have a huge new fridge that is depressingly empty...

Any advice on where to get cheapo car seats for use at GPs? They will get occasional use, I just can't be arsed to carry two children and two car seats on the train to newcastle. Was thinking ebay...

hackneyzoo · 18/02/2010 19:42

Wow tink, your dd1 has the same size as my dd and she's 2.8! Your DD has very delicate feet (Not great big clod hoppers like DD and I) I normally get DD shoes from Bisgaard or naturino, they do really lovely leather sandals that are supportive and in lots of bright colours (they are a bit ££...I always have to hide the price from DH..but they are great quality and worth it) Other than that she wears converse or similar for cold/wet days. But summer seems a long way off today in the cold and wet....

Where is everyone this evening? Hibernating? Lenni do you have heat yet?

I am popping in again but still have my mum and nephew here so will be brief. SIL, Bro and little nephew just left after tea (homemade fish pie and apple crumble (not homemade) for dessert Z ate soooooooooooooooo much I thought he would burst). tell you what, I'm getting a takeaway tomorrow!!

Went to the docks for some shopping and lunch today and to take DD to the boat museum. Well it snowed heavily whilst we were there, DD whinged the whole time and then FELL ASLEEP during lunch in the cafe!!!. She is not right bless her but she is being a mare at the moment anyway as Nanny is here who lets her do anything!

Tink- My DD is 3 and has size 8.5, your DD does have diddy feet, she will obviously be petite

HZ- hope the MRI goes really well, or as well as can be tomorrow.

Books- Cake wonderful, lovely pics of DD, she looks so dinky compared to Z, he is a hulk though!

moose- hows the dog? I would have flipped out at that bedroom scene too!

Lenni- still living in victorian house or has the heating returned, and the rodent???

MissJ- see you guys tomorrow..........if no more snow..............

Evening all

First and most importantly, good luck for tomorrow HKZ, will be thinking of you both.

Second, whose got a rodent in the house? Have read back, but can't see it mentioned anywhere.

I think my dc's might win the prize for ridiculously small feet. Ds2 is nearly 6 and is still only a size 9.5. He hasn't gone up a shoe size at all since the beginning of reception and now he's halfway through year 1! Ds1 was the same, but his feet suddenly grew at the end of year 2 and now he's a 12. A size 2 still falls off dd's feet they are beautifully cute and dinky.

The dog is doing fine thanks Pat. She seems a bit bemused at all the attention really, as she hasn't any symptoms to speak of, just a horrible great ugly, smelly lump in her mouth.

After I came on here earlier, I went up to the boys, apologised for shouting and said I was a good example of how not to behave and very ashamed of myself. We all had a hug and I was amazed to find they had actually tidied up all the mess and sorted out their bedside cabinets. So all's well that ends well. Well almost, ds1 was horrible at tea time, but only in a typical 7 year old boy way rather than an ASD way iyswim. After I put him in a time-out, dh calmly explained the error of his ways to him and he went to bed full of apologies and kisses for Mummy.

Oh yes, I caught a bunch of horrid boys stood halfway down our drive throwing snowballs at our house this afternoon. The bangs were ridiculously loud and really made me jump. Silly really, but I was shaking for ages afterwards. I think the snowballs were meant for next door though, as the boys were from their ds's year in school and they looked both shocked and puzzled before they legged it when I appeared at the window.

Am now sat here worrying that we are in for a power cut, as the lights keep blinking on and off. We have about 4 inches of snow and more predicted for later.

Books, I hate that with jigsaws. I resorted to keeping them all in 'Mummy's' cupboard and only letting them have one out at a time. I remember only too well sitting for hours sorting puzzle pieces. In the end I came up with the idea of putting a dot of felt-tip on the back of each piece, so that I could identify which pieces belonged to which puzzle more easily. Very useful when you have about five thousand different Thomas the Tank Engine jigsaws.

HKZ have posted on other thread but a double good luck and hope you get some news today. Tax sounds interesting. I will check it out. Do you think you can claim back a year too?
CC going ok. First night was the worst as he cried for 90 mins but as I went in every 5 minutes it felt like I was holding his hand through it. Last night he woke at 430, cried for 3 minutes so dh went in 3 times and then slept until 615. Tis a miracle. My shift for the next 2 nigt so fingers crossed for more of the same. Only flaw is he has his mmr and flu jabs this avo and I know that if he cries tonight I am bound to pick him up...
Have read ll I promise but must go and get the pushchair out of the car before S wakes up.
