When you're back, how are things Dippy?

ScarletBandit · 10/02/2010 14:07

Afternoon ladies.

Bramshott, hope your goddaughter is back to her normal self really soon x

SPB, I think the newborn thing might just be you! Dh and I did have a chat recently about the prospect of us having any more children. It was a definite "no" from both sides, so at least we agree!!

Dippy, hope you are ok today x

Not much happening here. Need to go and tackle my ironing, then sort out dinner before I go and pick up ds from school. He doesn't finish until 4pm on a Wednesday as they have an after school club which the Year 2's can go to if they want to. He goes to Eco club, which is basically codename for getting dirty in the mud!

oooggs · 10/02/2010 19:37

at getting dirty in the mud

bramshott - sorry about your goddaughter

katy - sorry but it must just be you

dippy - you ok?

Erin fine with wees and has managed 2 out of 3 poos in last 3 days on the potty so getting there.

Jack - maybe cold turkey? half term? Easter? Week before he starts school (sept 2011)?

CaptainDippy · 11/02/2010 12:22

I'm ok, just about gotten over the chicken incident (fox got our chickens, lots of blood etc ) and horrid teleconference for work. La La La .....

We have about six inches of snow here !!!!!!!! Soooo hoping it is gone by tomorrow cos we are supposed to be traveling to see friends for a few days. Sigh.

morning everyone

elkiedee · 12/02/2010 22:00

Hi all

sorry I've been absent for so long

Sorry to hear about your mum's news SOL

Hope you're feeling better.

Hope Dippy's managed to get away for the weekend.

elkiedee · 12/02/2010 22:02

My baby's 1 already! It was his birthday last week but we all had a day off and went to the city farm yesterday, then had chicken for tea (seems to go down well with C). We're having a party next month! And we'll have to start planning Danny's soon too.

elkiedee · 12/02/2010 22:03

On a darker note,

I have some scary and worrying news tonight. I usually talk to my mum on the phone about this time every night but tonight she said she had visitors and we might not get to chat, then I came down and found I had an email asking me to phone when I'd got C to sleep.

So I called about 30 minutes ago.

She's had a biopsy taken today, should hear on Wednesday, but she's facing treatment for bowel cancer.

My mum is 65 and generally seems quite healthy, and even though I had children quite late I thought at least D and C would have her around for a while.

We see a lot of my dad now, but I was brought up with my mum as a single parent family until I was nearly 7, and then my stepdad left her when my brother and sister were 15 and 12.

I'm quite shocked and scared at the moment.

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2010 12:40

Oh elkie So sorry to hear this, it must be so worrying while you're waiting and wondering. Hope the news is good on Wednesday, but if it's not, please use us to vent if you need to. 65 is no age at all - if it is bad news from the biopsy she should be strong and healthy for the treatment.

Doobydoo · 14/02/2010 10:22

Elkie..so sorry to hear about your mum.You must be frightened. My aunt is 70 and had bowel cancer and has recovered[just thought I would say]Thinking of you.
Hi All.

Sexonlegs · 14/02/2010 22:22

Elkie, my heart goes out to you. Wishing positive thoughts to you all. xx

Dippy, sorry about the chickens; what an awful thing to happen.

ScarletBandit · 15/02/2010 11:24

Morning!

Elkie, so sorry to hear about your mum. Crossing my fingers for good news xx

ScarletBandit · 16/02/2010 15:42

oooggs · 16/02/2010 19:34

sorry to hear that Elkie - hope good news is heading your way

I feel terrible - dh had to take a day off today to have the children - I could hardly move - sore throat, headache, dizzy & very tired - have spent most of day in bed - still don't feel good.

elkiedee · 17/02/2010 09:53

Oooggs, hope you feel better soon!

StealthPolarBear · 17/02/2010 11:16

oooggs, that sounds dreadful. How are you today?

ScarletBandit · 17/02/2010 15:33

Glad he is ok SPB

Oooggs, how are you today? Hope you are feeling better xx

oooggs · 17/02/2010 19:44

thanks ladies, I am up and functioning today. Dizzy spells & headache have gone so just the sore throat to contend with.

I am shattered though it had totally wiped me out

Today was supposed to be the 1st day back after maternity leave!!!!

Still on annual leave at the moment, (so still getting paid!) career break starts 31.3.10.

Katy - glad T is better

Doobydoo · 17/02/2010 21:22

Hope T is feeling better SPB.
Oooggs poor you.We all had pharyngitis and then colds...and M had 'ears' so we have been a real party household
Have done all me essays and have 2 job interviews next week. One I have to do a 10 minute presentation on teamwork. It's for a band 5 job so I am shocked. My brain hasn't been used this much during the last 10 years so has had a shock!
Hope all of you are ok.

ScarletBandit · 18/02/2010 09:48

Good luck Dooby! A lot of our band 5 interviews include a presentation these days, thankfully it wasn't like that when I got interviewed!! Hope it all goes really well for you xx

Doobydoo · 18/02/2010 10:03

Thanks SB! Just think it short notice to do it justice...but am probably making excuses
Do you know why band 5 need to present?
Thought it might be to do with how clearly you can convey message/cut waffle.etc.I really want either the job on transitional unit[presentation one]or neonatal unit which I haven't heard from yet[eek]wouldn't mind Children's ward but would be well chuffed with the others.Very daunting.Hope all have a good day

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2010 14:16

Good luck Dooby, which days are the interviews? I think you're probably right, they just want to see how well you communicate.
Well, DD and DH have the lurgy now. DD has had lots of very loose nappies, including a fun one at 2am, and DH, being a man, is on his way home at death's door. I do actually feel very sorry for him Just got DD to sleep after an hour of eye rubing and yawning, and have battled for days to get my phone topped up so have just replied to all the texts I've been ignolring! Wow that makes me sound popular - there must ahve been 3 of them!
