Dooby, I think that the presentation is exactly as you say. It is only short normally and is a good tool for assessing how you communicate, and how you grasp the key areas of a subject minus the waffle! I say that with an exclamation mark as I am an excellent waffler!!
Hope all goes well

SPB, hope all in your family are much better soon and that dh's man flu isn't too awful x

oooggs · 19/02/2010 21:10

Having huge problems with ds1. Will mail your sol in next couple of days if thats ok about it. Don't want to say too much on here, but I have a feeling you may have been there!!!

good luck dooby

katy - yuk - hope all better soon and loads of sleep all round

as it stands dh will be going away on wednesday for 9/13 days with no contact I know service wives get this all the time but thats why I didn't marry a service man.

StealthPolarBear · 20/02/2010 08:23

sorry to hear about problems oooggs, hope SOL can help. Also about DH - why no contact? or can you not say?

Doobydoo · 20/02/2010 17:12

Thanks SBInterviews are on Thurs and Fri.Have to hand portfolio and essays in on Tues.but before that have to go and see my 3rd mentor who has filled in some bits wrong!
Oooggs really hope you get some help.
Hope all are doing ok.

oooggs · 20/02/2010 20:20

katy - no contact as he will be on a submarine under the water (Glad I didn't marry a service man - I wouldn't have been able to handle all the working away)

ds1 has been better today - hope I wasn't over reacting yesterday

SPBInDisguise · 20/02/2010 20:24

oh that explains a lot
glad ds1 is better today - hope he continues with the good behaviour!
are these the closest 2 posts in weeks on this thread? replied in active convos

oooggs · 20/02/2010 20:47

bloddy hell it could be classed as a conversation

Doobydoo · 20/02/2010 21:07

Cripes!
I am managing to keep up!
Glad ds1 better today Oooggs.
Sorry re your dh being incommunicado I would hate that.Agree re being married to a serviceman.A friend at mum and tod groups husband went to Afghanistan in Feb.They have a 2 and a half year old and a baby born in January...must be very hard.

CaptainDippy · 20/02/2010 21:57

Dooby used the words Cripes That has made my evening!

Oh Elkie, so sorry to hear about your mum - do let us know about the test results. Bowel cancer is very treatable if it is caught early enough. xx My mum is a bowel and rectal cancer survivor. xx

Glad DS is more chipper SPB How are you doing Oooggs? I couldn't marry a service man either. I am crap without my DH around.

Oh my, just realised, I haven't been on since before half term Hello all!! Hope you have survived the week

It's been good in DippyLand and I've been very blessed to have DH off this week, so we have had a super week: visiting friends and new babies (definitely NOT broody now ); going to London to see the (free) sights with oldest DDs; soft play galore; haircuts; tea and cake and general family niceness It has been good

Baby-sitting for a friend atm, quite enjoying the peace and quiet

Hello loves

Have been away for a few days so apologies for my lack of appearance!

Quite busy I see.

SPB, hope all the illness has passed and everyone is ok now.

Oooggs, how are you? Hope you have recovered. Nightmare your dh being away for so long; I hate dh being away for a night! Will you have some help? How is ds1??? I am happy to assist/advise if I can.

Dooby, good luck with the interview; really hope you get what you want and deserve. Do you want us to be referees!!??

Elkie, any news on your Mum?

SB, no more pj's tomorrow Can't believe half term is over.

Dippy, sounds like you have had a wonderful time.

We got back from a few days away last night. We went ski-ing with my cousin, her dh and their 2 boys. We had a fab time, although not much ski-ing due to having to look after the kids, but a great time was had by all. We weren't sure whether we would be able to go, as on Monday afternoon, K bounced off the bed, and split her head open on the wall Cue a trip to A&E to be glued. She was a star and made no fuss bless her; would have been a different case with B!!!

Hope everyone is ok. xx

oooggs · 21/02/2010 21:18

wanted to mail you over ds1's behaviour, now all has changed as he has just realised that dh is going away and he is devastated to say the least. He has cried loads this afternoon, worried he won't come back, keeps cuddling up to me (which is unheard of!) he is in a real pickle.

Yes help is around, my parents are fab and don't live far (you can walk there) and MIL arrived today (but stays with her brother 3 streets away) so plenty of support (especially for school runs!!)

I am just dreading the 'no let up' especially if I am having problems getting ds1 to bed (nightmares & missing daddy) and then early wakes with dd & ds3 and if anyone wakes in the night I will be buggered

But then compared to others problems this is very trivial

SPBInDisguise · 22/02/2010 07:34

Hi everyone
to K's head SOL, poor thing. She sounds tough
Glad you had a good trip
oooggs, ikwym about no let up, and I only have 2. When does he get back - did you say 10 days? Hope it's not too bad. Poor J Do you know anyone with DCs whose dads so this all the time (go and come back I mean) who could talk to him?
Still general snotiness all round here, DD slept dreadfully and DS wan't much better But D&V bugs and feeling really ill (DD screamed for hours on Saturday night) seem to have stopped so that's a relief. T keeps shouting "I got a notty nose mama" - think nose wiping/blowing lessons are due

elkiedee · 22/02/2010 12:17

Good luck Dooby

My mum came to visit last week and is coming again on Thursday. She has a scan today but we expect to hear results of that and her biopsy on Wednesday next week. Thanks Dippy for that - how long ago was your mum treated?

Bramshott · 22/02/2010 14:59

Oh no - I posted, defintely posted this morning and it's vanished!!

Did everyone have a good half term? I was busy working 4 days , but still managed to fit in cinema (Princess and the Frog - it's fab!), swimming and pub lunch with friends.

CaptainDippy · 23/02/2010 08:06

Buzzing by with for Oooggs. xx

Hope you get some better answers re: your mum asap Elkie. My mum had DX when she was 26 (she's 60 in a couple of months) The cancer was caught quite late and she was lucky to survive. She's had a lot of her intestines removed (colon, ilium etc) and initially had a colostomy and now has an iliostomy. I know the latter is usually semi-permanent (not in my mum's case) and the former more permanent. She went on to marry and have me (miracle) and had only surgery, no chemo or anything. Pretty incredible really.

ScarletBandit · 23/02/2010 12:15

Hi all.

Oooggs, hope you are ok. Being on your own for a prolonged period of time is really tough.

Elkie, crossing my fingers for good news for you and your mum x

Dooby, good luck this week

SOL, I can't believe half term went by so quickly. I miss my pj mornings!

F has managed to virtually knock out one of her top front teeth. She was dancing in the kitchen on Saturday and fell head first onto the rim of the dog's water bowl which is made of a heavy china. She has displaced one of her front teeth and it is now hanging down lower than the other one. She was in A+E on Saturday afternoon then the dentist yesterday.
Basically there is nothing to do except wait and see what happens. The dentist thinks the tooth will fall out, and if it doesn't actually come out it will go black (lovely). If it is still painful for her to bite on in a fortnight from now she will have to have it removed as it will become an infection/abcess risk.
I am very very down about the whole thing. She had perfect little teeth and now she hasn't and I am gutted. And I know lots of you have far bigger things to worry about, but this has really upset me
The only good thing is that the dentist said her adult tooth behind will not have been affected.

Doobydoo · 23/02/2010 19:21

Elkie and SOL sending positive vibes your way for your mums and you.

SB so sorry re dd's tooth, good that it won't affect adult tooth though.A friend of mine lost her adult front tooth when we were teenagers and had a false one,it was fab
Dippy hope you are ok...finally got the gist re your chickens and I am sorry.
Handed in my assignment today and feel drained.
Thanks for all your good vibes,it means ALOT.
I have interview on thurs for children's ward and one on Fri which is the 10 minute power point presentation on team work...this is for the Transitional and Home care team[neonates]I would really like that job!
Then we go to Suffolk on Sat and will see my real mum on Sun[she hasn't seen M yet]or ds1 since he was 5.
Then we go to Centreparcs on Monday and come back Fri.Letter should arrive on Tuesday re ds1's school so I will have to be patient when on hol
If he goes to Grantham we will move nearer as
makes more sense. We like it where we are though.
Epic post
Take care all.
xx

Doobydoo · 23/02/2010 19:22

Oooggs hope you are doing ok?

SOL...I am ok.Got email from tutor today at 4pm.I presented my work in wrong type of folder[A4 ring binder] and have to go tomorro to Grantham with a different type.I have to get there before 12.I have an interview at 9.30 at lincoln and grantham approx 1 hour away allowing for traffic.DP drove to Tesco and Office supply shop and got different ones and my colleague sent photos over phone of what she used! All MAD really. She used a different folder through luck and no where on website for the Univwersity is there a mention of type of folder to use.I know this sounds silly but feel totally knackered with it all.I need to get a job but need to get nursing pin back and tomorrow going to be tricky time wise.I am looking forward to Hol.
Hope you lot are ok.Sorry for pointless ramble re folder!
