alibobins · 30/03/2010 14:01

Excuse the lack of hhhhh's it kind of broke and its hit or miss if it works.

ctofn Is it Olivia's hospital appoinment tomorrow? If so ope she gets on okay x x

CantThinkofFunnyName · 30/03/2010 16:18

Ali - yes, her appointment tomorrow. Just had her 2nd jabs this afternoon which went marvellously well - compared with last time anyhow! We'll see what the evening brings. DH is in charge as I'm off out with other DCs to a music evening where DS is performing a singing duet!

somewhathorrified · 30/03/2010 17:30

Pooey clothes are the bain of my life atm...I basically use a nail brush and washing up liquid before they go in the wash and even then it's fingers crossed.

My space bar is playing silly buggers so sorry if all mywords end up as one long string of indecipherable letters.

Still got stinking cold here...does anyone know if there's anything you can do for 10wk old with a really nasty cough? He's currently on saline spray with occaional calpol, but he has a hacking cough that makes me wince, it'sheart breaking!

crumpette · 30/03/2010 17:55

A few of my keys are stuck, keep having to delete random letters.. I think it's probably biscuit crumbs [om nom nom]

Anyway- baby poo! I use regular fairy non bio powder to wash normally but if there's an especially orange massive poo stain I add some vanish powder and it always gets it out

newbeginnings- no, not where the appliance is stored but bizarre nonetheless
Actually, the plumbers had to come back recently as there was no water pressure and no water was coming out of taps/shower... I was sooo mortified I stayed out all afternoon avoiding them

somewhat, sorry to hear about your DS, no idea what you could use.. I know people put karvol etc on a cloth in the same room, on a radiator or similar, to allow baby to inhale it.. but not sure that would help a cough

flyingma · 30/03/2010 19:51

LOL @ Crumpette and her biscuit crumbs.

I am going to cry off the weighing thing coz 1. I don't own scales (scared of obessing about weight) and 2. Like someone else I'd rather lose it through being active tho I really need to start doing some light exercise. Watch me make an about turn when you all return to your pre-preg sizes and I am still trying to pull my pre-preg jeans up past my thighs!

fraoch LOL re the sleep talking. I actually missed my 3am expressing session last night - I woke up but was absolutely convinced that I had done it already.... until I looked at the chart this am at 6!

Fraochsmum · 30/03/2010 20:53

VeryCherry ? 9st 8lb

Flyingma - I was like that the first time Cara slept right through...it was only when I noticed my bottle of water was full that I realised I hadn't fed her!
I got her passport photos taken today! I thought she would be grouchy because I had woken her up, but she was obsessed with the photographers equipment so was good as gold.
She had her second round of jabs today - DH is on holiday this week so I made him come and hold her this time . She is fine now (4 hours after), but the Dr had prescribed 'Galpamol' which is a kids paracetamol after the 1st ones, so I'll give her some before her last feed.

Partyofseven · 30/03/2010 21:44

Hi all

Well, Erin had her jabs today, que lots of creaming and a very pityful crying session for 10 mins, {very upset mummy emotion]. gave her some paracetamol about 4pm and doc said she can have more after 6hrs, thanks to everyone for you advice. she is now fast asleep on bean bag (hopefully for the night) but we shall see.

TMI alert - I have developed a little pile [haemorroid type not washing], had it for about a week quite painful and itchy, was going to get some cream today but this morning was covered in blood???. When i saw gp with Erin told her and apparently it burst yuk yuk.

Anyway, went to christening on Sunday, lots of cooing over baby etc. Was asked if Erin was to be our last, and before i could answer dh said 'no, i think we'll have one more [hooray]. So i am conveniently forgetting to start to take mini pill gp gave me last week and maybe joining the december thread with fraoch if we're lucky.

Partyofseven · 30/03/2010 21:46

Obviously that was supposed to say screaming not creaming DOH!!

Partyofseven · 30/03/2010 22:08

Just catching up on previous posts

cant good luck tomorrow with Olivias appointment.

ali I too am going back in September, but on 3 days. I think i am going to work mon, tues, weds because my mum takes and collects the two youngest dds from school, and she will be minding Erin for two days. That way she can have a long weekend if she wants to go away to see my brother or sister.

crumpette pass the biscuits - I find crisps, rice and all manner of other foodstuffs in my keyboard, but thats the kids of course not me

sockmonkey · 31/03/2010 08:25

Ali - I'd definately get mondays - you get all the bank holidays that way!

Fraochsmum · 31/03/2010 11:04

Aw that's lovely news party! And it was him who said it! Hope your pita gets sorted soon, at least you're doing something about it before it gets too bad x
Good luck to those with appointments today - if it's any consolation Cara wasn't bothered at all by her jabs. Except the crying at the time of course! I gave her some paracetamol before bedtime and she slept right through again - yipee!! I'll not give her any more as she is totally fine today.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 31/03/2010 11:49

Olivia was fabulous with her second jabs yesterday! Screamed for about 1 minute after second one and then that was it! What a difference after the first lot!

Just back from paed appt. Said absolutely gastro reflux. Been prescribed meds and neutramigen (sp?). Going to collect from hospital pharmacy tomorrow morning as a 3 hour wait!! But only get a small tin and the rest on presc from Dr. But going away tomorrow night for a week! Cue lots of panic about getting presc in time.

anyway, now on a dash off to hairdressers.

Sign in later.

alibobins · 31/03/2010 12:48

ctofn it took about a week for Jacob to drink nutramigin I was told to introduce it gradually 1 scoop of it with 2 of his old milk then gradually put more until they drink the nutramigen but beware it does taste vile but now Jacob drinks it no probs.

We haven't got all his meds yet as Boots had to order them in. I picked up the Domperidone today so fingers crossed the other I have to pick up a bottle every Thursday as it only last 7 days once opened.

Sock I will definatly do Mondays as I never thought of that. Don't know weather to get it out the was and work Mon, Tues and Wed or spread it out Mon Wed and Fri x

CantThinkofFunnyName · 31/03/2010 14:28

Ali - would suggest Mon, Tues, Wed then you get long weekend plus the additional Monday when bank holidays!

crumpette · 31/03/2010 14:37

ANNOUNCEMENT- baby crumpette NOW OFFICIALLY EXISTS! phew! Yes yes I got him registered, with one day to spare before I was prosecuted

I went in with DP begrudgingly in tow flashing my letter and they weren't v nice to me. Sadly they only agreed to see me at all after I said 'oh we also need to pick up a death certificate..' which sadly is true as we never collected it. But after a 2.5 hour wait and some niceness from staff () we were seen and he now has a name.

Party and fraochs, what are you doing MNing? get to the bedroom immediately

NO baby jabs here but feel for all your LOs, ouch ouchy ouch. At least they forget! Galpamol's a new one on me!

CTFN hope the meds and new milk help Olivia's reflux

crumpette · 31/03/2010 14:39

OOh excellent point about Mondays. If I go back part time I want to work Fridays but that's only because there's always a Friday meeting and I wouldn't want to miss it, and Tuesdays and Thursdays.. but I may change those days now as your bank holiday point is utterly genius

CantThinkofFunnyName · 31/03/2010 16:15

Crumpette - about bloody time !

Ali - yes, the consultant said exactly the same to me about weaning her onto the milk and that apparently it tastes awful .

Party & Fraochs - you both actually mad - but good luck to you both. Get shagging pronto!!!

Mad mad day here. Paed appt, hairdresser, now off to take guinea pigs to their boarding house for Easter, then dash back to cook tea, have DD dropped back to me from horse riding, then quick change for .... A NIGHT OUT!! Yes, a proper night out pour moi! Have no idea what I'm going to wear as it's only down the pub, but a very nice pub with food, followed by live music at another joint. DH has actually volunteered to sleep in nursery all night to look after Olivia and do all the middle of the night stuff and school run tomorrow so I can actually have a drink, hopefully have a good time without a care in the world. Can't wait - but know that I will be done by about 10pm .

Tomorrow have another mad dash on getting last bits of ironing done, packing finished, pick up kids from school and then head off to Wales for a week which includes a wedding on Saturday. It's DH family so he will be the one partying on Saturday whilst I no doubt head off to bed early with the kids and huff and puff at him on Sunday when he is lying comatose!

Newbeginning1 · 31/03/2010 17:42

somewhathorrified - have you tried raising the moses basket/cot at 1 end? DS has a cough an it's in his throat rather than his chest and doing that seems to help him

party and froachs and all others who are enjoying jiggy jiggy time. Please do let me know if it's changed because i'm not going to be partaking in that anytime soon.

ctofn - i'm glad you have stuff for Olivia now

Right everyone, i need some advice please about returning to work. I started seeing someone at work but we broke up 2 months before i left and the 2 months when I was there were awful because i was still in love with him and before we got together he was like my best friend.

Anyway, he said he would have left work by the time I returned but after seeing him today his plans of changed and he's now on track to be head of my department in a year. I really think it's going to be too hard for me working with him especially as there are rumours he's seeing another girl at work.I'm concerned about finding a new job & whether i would be able to secure a part time role whereas i have proved myself at my current company so i know they will do what they can to have me back.

What should I do? Im looking for other jobs but I love the company i work for and its a great company to have on my CV but i realised how much of a void there is in my life where he was and i still miss him being my friend so much. Please give me advice (or a virtual slap) and tell me how to get over it all!!!

Sorry for the crazy long self centred post.

crumpette · 31/03/2010 20:40

[slap] for newbeginning

It may be hard at first but you are doing it for your future and your little son's future too, so if gritting your teeth and putting up with some bad days at work means you are further on career-wise than quitting, looking for work elsewhere and failing then please do go back. We are all here you can post as much as you want, and you have the upper hand, he won't risk upsetting you or stepping out of line in any way.

That's my vote. Here is a hug for you cos I know it must be very hard to make a decision like that, but I think you will regret not going back.

CTFN have a lovely time out tonight!!! I am off to bath babycrumpettewhofinallyhasaname as he stinks I fear what lurks in the latest nappy...

whensmydayoff · 31/03/2010 21:43

CTFN - What is this 'night out' that you speak of? Pub? Is that an English thing?

Hmm, ok, clearly you win the weighing thing, you are indeed weird and may weigh yourself on a Tuesday in light of your large Sunday Roast!

My Olivia had a hospital appointment for reflux today too - are we living simualtanious lives in different spheres - oh no - you have nights out, scrub that idea.....

Glad you are slowly getting somewhere.

My paed was intense. Fast talking and abrupt. Im too sleep deprived for fast talking.
Anyway, she thought that even though Olivia has improved leaps and bounds and is happy now - she needs more meds .
She gave me a long explanation as to why but I was too busy thinking about her weird specs to take all the fast talking in.
I will ask DH later when the footy finishes.

I kind of fobed her off with, lets see how she is at next appointment bla bla because the less meds the better if they are happy - surely?

She was sceptical about the Dairy Intollerence but asked me to re-introduce them next week and if probs return to phone her.

I cancelled the x-ray, too much of a wimp.

crumpette you need new friends OR when they have outstayed their welcome just say "right well, it's been a hoot but it's getting late and Im knackered, bye". Your too nice.

I think wet hair does weigh approx a 1lb, well done you!

I have to just call James baby Crumppette now, too late.

Newbeg Slap Slap, hug, slap. Keep your job and watch carefully, you will see the light soon. When you hate him and have a new lovely man you will be glad you stayed put.

Vests. Right what I did

get said shitty vest

scrub with fairy liquid

put in 60 degree wash, waste planet, waste washing powder

take out

see shit is still there

scrub with vanish, return to washing machine

waste planet, waste washing powder

see shitty vest again

throw into landfill bin, forget it

Bin all shitty vests

party fraoch You have too much energy, share it, don't be greedy.

Hope you had a good night ctfn

Im off for a bath then Desperate Housewives, I know, mental I am.

Fraochsmum · 31/03/2010 22:12

Hahahaha you guys are so funny! The next time we get down to it, I will just imagine you lot with the whole "Go Fraochs, Go Fraochs!"! I was very lucky and had no after-effects from the birth so have been enjoying each others company since DD was 3 weeks. New - it hasn't changed at all down there, however it is now feels very weird doing it with colossal boobs!
Newbeginning, I agree exactly with what crumpette said - very sound advice!
ctofn - hope you had a fantastic night out! Glad the jabs were better this time x
Congratulations crumpette - woohoo!!!!
wmdo - sorry things weren't too clear for you, but hopefully will get better for you and Olivia soon.
We are heading up North for a few days seeing family, hope you all have a brilliant easter xxx

maygirl · 31/03/2010 22:44

Went to buggyfit today, hope I can walk tomorrow, did loads of squatting, lunging and running!
Taking DD for some cranial osteopathy tomorrow, she is somewhat cranky and I'm sure her head feels a bit funny. Will be interesting to see what they say. Then DS has a hearing test in the afternoon.

Agree with others Newbeginning. If you secure part time work the time at work really flies by so quickly. ((hugs))

Hope you have fun weeks away CTOFN and Fraochsmum!!

Working days wise, check with your company, as I found out mine totals up all annual leave plus bank hols and this total is pro rata'd for part time workers (I work at a University), so I didn't work Mondays, but got them added back onto my hols, so I didn't lose out. And as you do pay for childcare that you will not be able to use on bank hols if use a nursery or childminder, it is better value for money not to work Mondays if this is the case.... I did Tues -Thurs and had a 4 day weekend, which worked quite well, didn't have to use up any annual leave when going away for long weekends.

Poopy clothes- have to wait till the summer, the sun bleaches it out if hang on the line (discovered this as DS was August baby!)

Happy Easter for the weekend!

sockmonkey · 01/04/2010 08:38

If you are loving the poo stained vests, just wait till you start with the bright orange baby food (no matter what ingredients are supposed to be in it, it's always orange)
That stuff would outlast a nuclear blast. Which makes me wonder why bibs are generally white.

sockmonkey · 01/04/2010 11:26

I just want to say chocolate here
it should bring a bunny with it.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 01/04/2010 13:26

WMDO - you are too funny. PMSL at your posts! The "night out" was indeed fabulous. Laughed so much, drank a little (but not too much), danced a bit too! A musician dad at our school did a gig at a local bar to raise money for the school. He's quite a name in the States in his own right and regularly supports "named" acts over here. So we had Martin Fry (ABC), Mari Wilson, Paul Young and Tony Hadley all there too. A very small intimate gig and got to chat to them all afterwards. Our headmistress was quite beside herself and got really pissed !

Also, Darling Darling DH, slept in nursery, hid the monitor, did the night stuff and school run this morning and I had a STRAIGHT uninterrupted 8 hours sleep. Pure and utter bliss. Although a tinse of a headache this morning

New - echo everyone else. Find your inner strength my dear .

OK - must dash, quick hoover, pick up new prescription milk for Livvy to get me through week and off to Wales.

Trust I will NOT lose any weight this week (Monday or Tuesday) !

Happy Easter y'all. x
